I definitely prefer the mother from the Korean version. In this, her explanation sounded like lame excuses. In the K version though, it was explained that she purposely left Shaun with Glassman because she knew he wasn't safe with the father around and could no longer see him being abused. That's why she left, she knew that Shaun was better and safe with Glassman.

This scene is painful, but it happens in real life. A lot of abusive parents never change, and never feel bad about what they did to their kids. This scene needed to happen because Shaun finally knows who his father really is. Even though Steve's death was tragic, he didn't have to suffer anymore. Steve took care of Shaun like a father, and he was just a little boy, and he shouldn't have had to deal with that. The truth is that this is how abusive parents are in real life, and it's sad

🧘(haaaaa)😮‍💨, you know life will hurt you in some way , some people have it worse some people have it better , but what i have learned is that nobody knows what they are doing , nobody knows exactly what the right choice is , the socities we live in make it common people struggle to the brick of collapse , and we were not asked to be born but here we are . So all i can say is that it is up to you to create a future and enviorment that you want to be in and it will be tough and probably not what you expected , but if you can find a place where you can unwind and rest and have peace then enjoy that because times are tough and we dont know what will happen . So make sure you are mindful of your actions and that you dont make things worse for yourself or anyone else or new life that you could bring here .

What these persons are saying is wrong. My father had terminal Lung cancer. In his last few days/weeks he got morphine, which really clouded his mind; even though he hadn't been out of the house for weeks, he thought he fell into the water. Which probably happend in his youth. So, yes, morphine can make you delusional. People here say morphine doesn't work that way, but that is because they are on a very low dosage. If you are really in your last few days of terminal illness, that morphine dosage will be quite a bit higher than for example the very low dosage of morphine you get while delivering a child. And yes, morphine makes you feel good in low dosages, but in high dosages it really clouds your mind and an morphine overdose (euthanasia is often done this way) will even kill you.

Okay to explain people saying the parents killed their son, They did. They didnt murder him no but it was their fault they made the children run away because of negligence and abuse the mother was to concerned to keep her abusive man than saving her kids from said abusive man therefore resulting in them running away so they wouldn't have to deal with it if it weren't for the parents the kids wouldn't have ran away and Shaun's brother would have most likely lived therefore they killed their son by making him run away so he didn't have to deal with being neglected and abuse.

@@anthonymendez1997 Yeah, karma is usually deserved on people who are unrepentant, unremorseful, and have no shame for their cruel, evil abusive actions to one another. But honestly I believe forgiveness should be a personal choice for someone to wanna forgive or not, and not be used for guilt tripping or a demand. I think religions should understand that and not use guilt tripping methods against victims of abuse which only adds salt to the wound. In this case, if I were Shaun I would take back what I said about forgiveness, knowing I am better off without parents like that.

Scenes like this make me appreciate my own parents even more and so should anyone else who is blessed and fortunate to have good parents. Unfortunately, Freddie Highmore's character Shaun was dealt a bad hand in life because he had the misfortune of being born to a mother and father who were simply horrible human beings. But, if anything positive came out of this it's that Shaun realized he didn't have to be like them. We can't choose our parents and what they become but we can decide what we want to become.

What is very powerful in this scene is where as it appears the dad rages is really a form of his own self deprecation! I hypothesize that the dad wanted Shaun to not forgive him and wanted to die feeling guilty because he knew he didn’t deserve grace. I also Surmise the form of mental abuse that he would have always have had over Shaun if he would have held on. The moment Shaun forgave him he took all the power from his father, and that was what his dad couldn’t deal with. He knew that his son would truly let him go and he would be forgotten forever!
