- Shaun (Freddie Highmore) tells Carly (Jasika Nicole) all of the things he likes about her, and makes it clear he doesn't want to break up with her. Carly says they just had a fight -- and couples fight, it's not a big deal. And in the interest of honesty, Shaun tells her that he spent the night hugging Lea in Wyoming. the main issue here is not shaun and lea falling asleep while hugging... like carly said they struggled with lying together for weeks and shaun had no problem doing it with lea just like that. it really says a lot about how comfortable shaun is with lea compared to carly and man, that hurts...
It shouldnt have. Shaun allows people to touch him. Glassman Claire etc. But romance is off the table. With lea it wasnt romantic. It was platonic. When carly tries she is trying for sex not platonically. shaun knows that and that makes him nervous. If lea tried sex shaun would reject her as well because he is nervous about romance. This is the autistic sexual touch barrier.
@Katy Cunningham yeah eventually. But it was not the same as with carly. He was actually learning and growing with carly. Lea doesnt have that effect on him.
I'm glad people see that he was growing with Carly. I think people didn't want him with Carly because she's biracial. I might be wrong but there was no reason to hate her. She was helping Shaun to grow and be accountable as an adult male.

People are pretending like they would be okay with their significant other not inviting them on a trip and then fine with them cuddling in bed with someone they made out with in the past. Let’s be honest, most people would have gone crazy on their significant other, even if it were after a funeral, and would never have been as calm and cool as Carly was. Carly handled that maturely.
but Shawn isnt a regular guy. He can't lie. his feelings are out in the open. She's very patient with him at times both other times I feel she forgets everything is at his pace. He has a routine for a reason. He talks to his friends about their relationship like any other person on earth but she gets so up in arms about it. he lives with Leah because she gives him a sense of family love he never had. I like Carly and shawn together I just think she needs to know his social boundaries is based off familiarity over love. He went from abuse to his foster mom who was nice to him to Glassman who was a bit more open and taught him to Leah who rightfully put up that boundary. He needs a constant in his life like her. no romance just someone who truly loves him. Carly needs to learn more about his past to get where he is with everything otherwise it wont work.

I (one of the people you may be referring to) am acting like I saw what actually happened, have been watching the show, and so I know there is no reason to go off the deep end.
Carly's reaction to what she was told is appropriate and totally understandable. Her feelings are valid.
But for those of us who watched what happened, we have no reason to be outraged and acting like this was cheating and asking Leah to come was part of his plan to cuddle with her.
A man dealing with a very painful event, had his two best friends with him for support. In the middle of a meltdown he found comfort in the embrace of one of those friends and was able to fall asleep. Nothing about this was duplicitous. Carly's mind can run away with her and she can play out any number of scenarios about what happened. We have no reason to do so. Sometimes a hug from a friend is just what is needed.
@@jhonames29 this might sound harsh but, this wasn't about Carly. It was about Shaun. Shaun being forced to face his traumatic past knowing his father was on his deathbed. He needed the people he counts on to be there. That's Glassman and Leah. Him and Carly weren't at that place yet. But it looks like they're working to get there and that's great.

Carly doing the right by shaun. He definitely crossed a line as a boyfriend. If she had let him off the hook, then she wouldn't be treating their relationship as real. The whole point is for shaun to learn social boundaries. Carly being a real GF here, and that shaun wants to be treated like an actual mate.

I don't think he crossed a line exactly. He was hurting badly and his friend offered him the comfort he needed. Yes, they were touching but it was platonic. That is okay. Shaun can't actually control that he's more comfortable with Leah. He's had more time getting to know her. They've had fights and bounced back. He feels safety in their friendship. That's literally all that was. Shaun is very much still figuring out how to navigate friendships and relationships. And none of that means Carly wasn't also right in how she felt and expressed that to Shaun. I think it was all handled okay. Learning curve. Growing pain. Etc.
Being a boyfriend or girlfriend is not the same as being someone's mate. The rules are much more complicated when being intimate in a relationship when neither party is sure they want it to be permanent, or even long-term. I don't think Shaun is ready yet for this level of complexity.
Bitch, he lost his father in front of him with gruel last words. He got really upset and started to beat himself. Lea just happen to catch him then comfort him. And they are friends. Real good friends. Farty should know what friends are for. She shouldn't have overreact. Just because she couldn't do that she doesn't need to get mad. She knows he's autistic and they literally need comfort from a very specific person they really care for or for some close family they really care for when they get very upset. Lea is a really good friend and Shaun is really happy for her. He cares for her

I hate their relationship but also ok with it. Shaun lost his rabbit, had an abusive father, lost his brother. Understandable that he hides his emotions and feelings. He really cares for Carly tho. But i just think he's afraid to show his emotions. He is afraid to get hurt again. I do not think he's using her. He knows that hurt really hurts.

The difference is that Carly treats shaun like someone with autism. Lea does not. Lea truly treats him like an equal. And for that reason alone, Lea is better.

And anyway of course his condition makes him different from the others man, she just want make sure that she is treat him right and do the best to make him more comfortable and their relationship. @@Sarnatuile I disagree with you, they both don't treat Shaun like he has autism, however, the difference between Lea and Carly is that Lea forces Shaun to do things at her speed, she's been butting into his life and trying to change him to what she wants. Carly though pushes Shaun to be more proactive, in other words this is what you did or this is how I feel, and makes Shaun make a decision on his own. Lea males him reactive, which is the wrong thing to make him grow as a person. Let's also not forget that Lea twisted Shaun's arm to rent the apartment because she couldn't afford it, even while knowing Shaun still had feelings for her and bringing guys into the house. Carly is pushing Shaun to be a better Shaun. Why do you think he says he wants to be impressive to her? He's comfortable with Lea controlling things and in the end that's not good for him. I commend Carly for being Shaun's gf and legitimately liking him. Lea has had chances to be his gf and she doesn't want to be. Carly and Shaun should be together.
I think that's kinda the point though. Leah likes Shaun and is his friend. Carly likes Shaun romantically. Shaun likes them both and is still figuring out how to process his emotions, ie, what box what he feels for each of them they goes in. I think he's doing a good job.

Lea is the only one not treating Shaun like an autistic individual. It hurts me to see people don't see this. I'm autistic myself, although a mild form. I commend Lea for staying as normal as she is. She doesn't take shit from Shaun as she wouldn't from another person. To her, Shaun is just a man, a human, not a man with autism.

I think both Carly and Lea are working hard with Shaun, and Shaun is working hard at improving his relationships too. I also feel like one reason why he might be less anxious overall around Lea is precisely because she pulled back when he it came to having a romantic relationship with him, as odd as that sounds. Shaun grew up with an abusive father, lost his brother and is not simply autistic...but has major trust and attachment issues based on how he was raised and his early experiences. I do not doubt that he likes Carly. I think with Lea...he has met someone that definitely made it clear that she was okay just keeping their relationship platonic and also is somewhat childlike and playful. He does not have to worry about Lea rejecting him because she has made it clear that she is totally fine just being his friend and is pretty laid back in general. She also has shown irritation and even anger with him...but it is a snarky, normal sort of anger - so he has seen Lea get angry with him and treat him like anyone else. And still move on. I think he has seen more about how Lea can get irked with him but still keeps him in her friendship circle and does not seem to dwell on their misunderstandings. She has shown that she cares about Shaun as a friend with nothing else required. This undoubtedly takes a lot of stress off of him and he has seen her when angry...and knows she still is safe and will not attack him or make him feel badly about things he cannot control. At this time...I think Shaun needs to worry less about having a girlfriend and more about feeling safe and secure in his friendships. He has major fears of being rejected or abandoned but also issues with physical space and even gestures like hand holding. He is running into the romantic world more for...what feels like meeting some societal goal but he is really timid and overwhelmed. I do not think Carly is the issue. I think the issue is that he has a lot of fears and the anxiety about making Carly feel worse is just adding to his stress. He needs to be able to very slowly work towards a romantic relationship with a person he feels secure with as a forever friend first. Otherwise, Carly may get hurt too and it is not about anything she is doing wrong. It is about Shaun's own fears of abandonment. To me...that is such a big part of the issue...possibly as much if not more than being autistic. We have seen how his recent rejection by his father also renewed his fears that even Dr. Glassman would reject him. While being autistic might make his anxiety stronger as he knows he cannot read people as well...the acute fear that he is not lovable and that people will all abandon him seems to come up in little expressions throughout the entire show. Even when he found a foster parent who liked him...he lost her to cancer. When he reconnected with his father and thought his father was going to try to apologize for the past...so many hurtful, nasty words were said - shaking his sense of being worthy yet again. Nevermind the bullying, or general issues with understanding neurotypical people...Shaun has experienced far more emotional trauma than many on the spectrum and I think even if he was not on the spectrum he would likely be anxious. Part of me wonders if he is refusing to hold hands or do with Carly what he seems to do much more easily with Lea....because Lea has already established that she has no expectations. That Shaun is welcome in her life without anything required. He does not have to hug her. He does not have to be her boyfriend. She does not let him use his autism to avoid responsibilities but also is sensitive to the fact that some things are harder and just wants to encourage him to try, without pushing. So she sort of reduces his sense of impending abandonment. Heck...she even left and came back which probably - as hard as it was at the time for him - helped him feel more grounded around her...as no one else really left him for an extended time then re-entered his life again and resumed their friendship. And she also does not seem so serious. Carly is very compassionate...but serious and often looks quite sad when discussing her relationship with Shaun. Lea seems more "whatever happens, happens" with a sort of laid back attitude that probably makes Shaun feel less awkward because he does not have to worry offer offending her or saying the right thing... Lea just seems to put him at greater ease.

Without thinking, she fell in love with Shaun. That had her blind. When he told her that he had slept all night with Lea, and with her he had been trying for weeks without achieving it, there he must have broken the relationship, and perhaps he thought to do so. But he thought he could fall in love with Shaun and he was wrong about that.

I honestly don't know why you some of yall prefer Lea. From what I've seen, she just seems like a party girl, and she wants to do a bunch of fun wild things. Carly on the other hand, seems more laid back, understanding, and wayy too nice for her own good. Honestly, Lea was his first actual "love interest" that's why he thinks laying with Lea felt better, because obviously, he's much closer to someone who he obviously adores. But she's like a little girl. He's hecka nervous around Carly because he thinks too much about "how to be a good boyfriend" and "relationship material" stuff. He's over thinking everything with Carly. Honestly, I feel bad for Carly. Also, those who are saying she pushed him to do things, she didn't. She literally ask Shaun if he's okay or comfortable, like, all the time! Everyone in the series is ruining their relationship, and I'm not trying to blame Shaun, but he really has to talk to her instead of getting other people's opinions, its annoying. I know, he's learning. Like I mentioned, Carly is being way too nice. She honestly deserves better.

Spot on. In fact Carly is TOO nice. In fact some commenters think that she's only there to teach Shaun and not have any needs of her own, let alone express them.
have you been watching S1-2 where lea has always been chilled and laid back. She has her own damage true but she's not as bad as everyone is making her seem to be and not to mention Shaun has more history with Lea. She taught him to drive, have him his first drink, kiss, how to let loose and most importantly live. She hurt his feelings countless times but He's also hurt hers. I can feel that there story is going to be a ' no matter who Shaun picks, it's always going to be her' case scenario which can either end good or horribly bad, but with a way it doesn't matter anymore.

This was so heart breaking to watch. Both of them you can see in their eyes that both of them. Didnt really know what to do. Lea told him not to tell that she stayed in his room because she knew what would happen if carly found out or what others would think. Clearly Lea would have taking it the same way as carly did if it was her. I could see shaun melt down coming because he knew he hurt her especially after he saw her cry for the first time. Shaun saw that he hurt her and it made him feel like shit. Thats why he had that melt down. Carly understands that he has a hard time with communication and that he is trying but on top of the he didnt return any of her text messages or phone calls which hurt as well but hearing that come from him and knowing that this was a level she has been trying to reach made things worse for them. Im not even mad at carly for asking him not to live with lea anymore. We dont know if shaun has told her anything about what has happen with him and Lea but she clearly sees that something went on with them thats why she was emotional upon hearing he was laying in bed hugging her. She has a fear that ok so they hugged but what will happen the next time. She doesnt want her heart broken. Maybe its me but I think carly has been cheated on before thats why she feels so strongly about being hurt by him.
Shaun made the hardest decisions a man can make in a relationship. That's telling the truth, no matter how painful it is, no matter how hard it is to tell you're significant other about what happened he was able to tell Carly the truth and I give him my respects for that. Not many boyfriends are able to tell their girlfriend the truth about if they cheated on her or any secrets he does not want her to know. The will to keep going forward even in the face of overwhelming pain or insecurity? That's what makes you a man. That is what makes you a better person.
Imagine if Shaun didn't tell her the truth and she finds out about this month ahead? She'll be more devastated. Not just because Shaun did that but because he kept it a secret and didn't trust her at all about that information. Trust is the biggest thing you need in a relationship. Without it? Is it even a relationship? I'm proud of Shaun for telling her the truth. It takes a lot to do that especially since he is autistic.

I absolutely agree. I get why Carly was feeling hurt, but at the same time, Shaun had JUST gone through something traumatic and painful. He faced his father, forgave him, and then his father blamed him for his brother's death... and then he died and those hateful words were the last words he said to Shaun. And Lea was there for him. Carly never even acknowledged or asked about what Shaun went through, never asked him if he was okay. It was all about her feelings, not BOTH of them. I do get why she was upset, and I'm glad Shaun was honest with her. But I honestly wish she would've seen that meltdown Shaun had with Glassman when he said "Everyone will go away. I make them hate me."

You know if I was dating someone with autism like Sean that would not make me feel jealous. If anything would be grateful that somebody was there to be with him even if it was another woman.
Especially since it was not anything particularly romantic it was more of a way of trying to help him.
I think I seem differently because I have three learning disabilities and cerebral palsy and with everything that I've been through which is pretty much like Sean
Although I didn't move from place to place and my siblings didn't die I lived in a very abusive home and I lived in the inner city as well being a white kid.
And the worst part was outside of that seven abusers male and female under the age of 25

Wasn't until I was 25. And there's an interesting experience I had with a friend.
I was 18 and I worked at a summer camp and it was a Christian camp. And I always had to stay alone because I was sick all the time due to the PTSD but I didn't understand that I had
I was just horribly exhausted and I would not want to go out with the other friends
But this young man stayed with me and we hung out and ate and just watched TV and I remember every time he would just sit on the couch and hold me
It wasn't anything but was romantic I think he just wanted me to feel safe in the presence of a guy
He didn't know anything about me and I didn't even know anything about me. Remember how terrified I was the first time and even the third and fourth time but after a while it just didn't bother me.
He did that the whole summer and he was probably one of the closest friends I had at camp.
I definitely won't forget him. He was a wonderful young man and I think his family must have been Hispanic. Fact we often talked about Hispanic food because I loved it so much I even enjoyed eating food from Spain
He was a wonderful Christian brother and I'm sure he's happily married. I always prayed for Steve that he would meet a wonderful woman.
Sometimes friendships between male and female do make a difference it just depends on how you use it

Did Shaun know that he was going to experience a traumatic moment when he invited Lea? No.
He just wanted her company.
And if we're talking about support, a man in a serious relationship should look for that in his significant other.
He did something that a man who's taken shouldn't do and that was wrong on his part, but he by no means cheated. He was having a mental breakdown, was overstimulated, and needed someone to comfort him. There was no expectation of sex for Shaun and Lea (at least not this time in particular as they both accepted that they're just friends) which is why he feels more comfortable/relaxed and lacked in the nervousness and performance anxiety he feels with Carly (whom he feels the constant need to impress and look good in front of) and he needed someone to comfort him, that's why Lea (his at the moment hopefully always *best friend)* was able to hold him. Carly had every right to feel frustrated and hurt as superficially, Lea accomplished something Carly had not yet been able to do, but once one analyzes the situation and looks deeper into its meaning, it's a lot more harmless than it initially seems. The only thing that Shaun did wrong was 1) Not tell Carly that he was bringing Lea, bad move on his part, and 2) fall asleep with Lea on the same bed (which as I've pointed out was a special case this time around). He messed up yes, no argument there, but he did not cheat on her. Trust me, speaking as someone who had been cheated on both physically and emotionally more than once, this is not cheating.
Max Kogan it’s not about sex it’s about intimacy. She’s been trying for WEEKS no MONTHS to be intimate with him. They damn near broke yo multiple times because he can’t be intimate with her and she’s had to fight for EVERY scrap of emotional space, time and energy. I get why Carly is upset but at the same time she doesn’t understand what was happening in the situation. Shaun I just been through some emotional crap including seen his dying father forgiving his dying father and being told horrible things to him that takes a toll on a person especially someone like Shaun And at that moment Shaun was hurting himself and could’ve been a lot worse if Lea did not come to help him and she comforted him and calm him down I know they end up getting together later but a true friend wouldn’t care how his girlfriend would feel a true friend Will do any and everything in their power to help another friend.
i love the fact that their fight and relationship is like that between kindergarteners who "cheat" on each other. like "you hugged so and so? I can't believe you would do this to me! we're over!"

The incredible thing about how real the writing in this show is, is these situations where neither Shaun or Carly did anything truly inappropriate but needed to communicate makes people take sides and get mad at one of them. Shaun has in a real bad spot, and friend comforted him. There was nothing wrong with that. At the same time, Carly has every reason to "need space" to process it. She didn't even demand he and Lea not live together after this, just express her feelings about it.
Lea is a great character, but I do her from Shaun's character that he truly likes Carly more, and Lea has just become a good friend to him. Like in real life, the writers are just showing feelings can be confusing and messy.

Well, Lea is his friend, someone that he sees as family. He was in a bad place and Lea was there for him like she is supposed to do. I don't think people should judge Shaun about be so open with Lea. He just lost an abusive father, he feels bad about a lot of things that are happening with his family, so of course, he is going to Lea's arms, because this is the place where he feels safe.
Maybe Lea should take over? Shaun constantly stresses Carly out .
I think the writers are saving Lea for shauns as future GF.

I don't get why people in the comments are upset with Shawn and saying he was cheating on Carly with Leah I mean there were no sexual tensions between either one of them Shawn was having a mental breakdown/meltdown to the point he was hurting himself almost and Lea was there trying to help him as a friend shawn even tells Carly in this episode that he was upset there were no intentions between earher of them I don't see why friend that is a girl can't comfort a guy who happens to just have a girlfriend
Carly's emotions may be natural but if she can't accept Shaun for who he is then the writers need to let her character go. Growth is one thing but If Shaun sacrifices who he is for fear of Carly leaving him or for anything than this isn't the show it started out to be and we won't see season 4! I won't want to see season 4! :(

Thank you! And Shaun is more than this. Love and relationships are a part of life and they are complicated no matter who you are or what challenges you have. I don't have anything against Carly but Lea is an important part of Shaun's life too. He's different and he always will be. His needs and the way he lives will always be different. I don't think the character of Carly is ready or willing to accept that and that's okay but if she isn't she should no longer be in the picture and Shaun shouldn't be painted as a jerk. I know everyone with autism is different but as someone who has autism and who cheers for this show to be a platform not only as entertainment but as autism awareness I'm alarmed that the writers may sacrifice who Shaun is for a love triangle, as you said. Shaun should have love. He should not give up what he needs or who he is for that love!

I honestly think the opposite of all these comments and that it's unfair for Carly to be this mad. Yeah it's understandable that she's frustrated but she knows little to nothing about what happened. If Lea didn't step in when she did, Shaun could've hurt himself badly. If Carly was there instead there's a chance he would've taken comfort in her because in situations with emotions that high, you'll take comfort in almost anyone. I think we can all agree that it's more important that Shaun didn't hurt himself badly than that he was hugging someone else.

I think ppl like Carly comes into ppl like Sean's life to help them learn, to love, to be appreciative, to be around ppl and then ppl like us will convince carly she doesn't deserve to be treated they way Sean treats her and she should breakup with him which eventually will happen and then ppl like sean will meet someone else and he/she will treat the new person better because by then he has learned all that needs to be learned and felt from ppl like Carly so he will be more humane. Then ppl like Carly (most ppl ) will see Sean and feel anger because they made this person who they are now and why couldn't ppl like sean be like the way they are now with them, it is unfair but life its unfair so🤷🏾♀️.

I think he does love Leah, but as a friend, like he loves Glassman. Or to use a Grey's Anatomy reference, Leah is his person. Yes, Shaun liked Leah but I think he's long over that and now he loves where they are & he truly values their friendship. I think we have to remember that Shaun doesn't have a lot of experience with simply being loved for who he is. I'm happy he gets that from Leah. This is a relationship that Shaun and Leah both have put in effort to develop. I'd hate to see it implode.

No, I think she understands Shaun more than Lea does. She has put in a lot of effort for Shaun and he sometimes doesn't want to try. No one would be happy their BF/GF laid with someone else at night which for Shaun represents a certain intimacy, when Carly had to try so hard to get Shaun to do the same thing for a long time.

But Carly has experience with someone on the spectrum, so getting to know Shaun doesn't different to her as it may with some others. She's patient and understanding with a sort of practiced effort (I'm not being presumptuous, she mentioned this previously).
Leah understands Shaun well also because she took the time to. They have built their friendship and level of trust over time. The two relationships are very different, and each are important and Shaun knows that.

Sometimes it seems as if she steps into instruction mode, like she's sharing with Shaun what she was taught, but then I remember she spoke about it before and its actualy get sister who was. What bothers me the most here is that sexual intimacy before marriage, even before getting engaged, should not be a requirement for a normal relationship. Shaun isn't ready for it, and I don't think whoever his girlfriend is should be pushing for it and, for that matter, should reassure Shaun not to feel pressured to take that step until he feels comfortable with it.
I wanted Shaun with Lea but the writers went nowhere with them. Just a mistake and regretful night. Was hoping for a breakthrough from Lea to tell Shaun that she has feelings for him but got nothing.
Lynzeep yeah but Lea was kind of dreading what to say to Shaun when he got candy and flowers but ended up walking over to Carly’s house to ask her out. A little bit jealously and relief I’d say.
Lynzeep I posted another comment about the abandonment of the relationship between Claire and Shaun. Any thoughts on this? I’m looking at the early episodes you can see a potential romance there but it’s completely abandoned by the producers. Looks like they introduce Lea as a substitute for that relationship. On the original show the “ Claire” character becomes “ Shaun’s” love interest. Will the producers go back there or has this ship sailed?

Yes it was wrong, yes Carly has every right to be upset and tell him he did the wrong thing. But it’s not like he understood the impact of what happened, and when he did he told Carly the truth instead of being a coward and hiding. How was he wrong? His abusive dad insulted him before he died and broke down in tears and anger. It was so intense he passed out. Leah only comforted a person going to unimaginable pain and sadness.

I just finished this episode. I feel for Carly. I feel like she compromises too much for Shaun.. lea compromises but also has a way of encouraging Shaun to try new things. I kind of hope they break up becuase I do feel bad for Carly. It’s obvious that Shaun loves her but loves lea more
Shaun should've avoided telling the truth about him and Lea. He should've mention something else outside that subject.
She should have known he has no clue about how this looks and what is boyfriend girlfriend boundaries. Lea is his friend. Its simply friend helping friend in his mind. He has no idea how it sounds or looks. Carly should have explained to him the etiquette. Even though no sex happened shaun needs to identify sexual situations. She should not expect him to know that. As understanding as she is she overreacted. No sex happened and HE TOLD YOU. He did not HIDE this from her. His honesty is in tact. Most men would have hidden this from thier dates. Nah Carli had EVERY SINGLE RIGHT to be upset. He first of all didnt even take Carli to go with him for his father. And I know as a girlfriend made her feel some type of way especially if he took another girl instead. Of course in looking back at early episodes the producers have abandoned the Clair- Shaun relationship. I know in the original series the “ Clair” character becomes Shaun’s love interest. Lea was introduced as a substitute for the Clair relationship. Clair’s character is kinda left in limbo now. They’re trying things for her but she’s a secondary character but was intended to be a main character. Is that arc with Shaun abandoned forever?
I get where Carly is coming from, but it is a different type of touch. Carly and Shaun have a romantic relationship, taking to the next level is nerve wracking for anyone but especially Shaun. The hug with Lea was a comfort touch. He was having a meltdown and hurting himself, Lea hugged him to show him comfort as a friend. There was nothing romantic about that! There is a difference and Carly should understand that. If she can't, then she is not the one for him!

Shaun doesn't need a "party animal" girlfriend, but he needs someone who is not stuffy & overly serious. Even for just talking & hanging out at home, Carly's demeanor is way too serious. I don't like her. Lea's bubbly demeanor is better for Shaun. He has enough overly serious people around him at work *(of course doctors have to be serious, I'm not denying that)* but outside of work he needs to be with people who are more outgoing. Lea or Claire are better choices for Shaun.

I know these are two different situations with different emotions on Shaun's part but I can see where Carly's frustration is coming from. Also it would kinda be the same thing as another normal girlfriend finding out her boyfriend fell asleep next to someone who has a history with him and not being affected at all by it..I think that standard is unrealistic as Carly is still human
