This is the straw that broke Shawn's back. He has been through a lot. Lia lying about his chart, Glassman said he would be by his side and not be there, try to save a baby where he couldn't save his own, even when he doesn't show, shawn cares about his patients and doesn't want them to go through what he's been through. Freddy deserves an Oscar for showing this heart breaking moment.
My son is autistic. He is only 12 at the moment, but he can't verbalize his feelings. I don't want to cripple him by having him be solely dependent on ME to speak for him, but I don't know how to NOT speak for him. This clip reminds me that there is so much more under the surface, so much that even my son himself can't necessarily access. It may all come bubbling up or exploding out one day, and I hope that if I can't be the one to simply be there, I hope SOMEONE caring enough and understanding enough IS there. To simply BE THERE to hold him up.

I have high functioning autism, and when really terrible things and/or high stress situations that shouldn't have become that way happen, these kinds of episodes occur, mostly due to panic because of a loss of control and understanding.

All of a sudden, someone yanks the stopper from the drain, that pool turns into a whirlpool and what you were floating on suddenly disappears. There’s nothing you can grab onto, the spinning gets faster and you’re getting dragged deeper and deeper into an abyss you don’t think you’ll ever come back out of. It’s kinda like that.

As an autistic person who’s never even watched this show, 1:29 is some of the best autistic acting I’ve ever seen. The pure helplessness and desperation in that scream is heartbreaking and this whole scene is a near perfect representation of what an autistic meltdown looks like. It’s actually confrontational for me to watch
Freddie highmore surely deserves an Oscar , he’s a terrific actor. I don’t recall not crying while watching any of his spine chilling performances , like this one.
this is a perfect example of how it is a constant struggle to try and live life with autism on the high functioning side of things, I don't believe people truly understood/understand what its like to live with it and Freddie here did his research well and portrayed this moment very well to the point that I almost cried because I have to live life like his character not to the same extent(as I am a bit higher up on the spectrum) but very similar I love this show just because I can just go to clips like this and show it to those I love and care about and tell them what I feel by using clips like these as examples of my emotions that I have difficulties describing, all and all great show and great acting 10/10

I am usually a kind person (but also neurotic) so whenever i see shows like that it acts as a reminder to be kind to everyone. Maybe someone have inner demons to battle - which can be very intense.
This is a bit random, but I've realized that I have breakdowns very rarely, and I've had maybe like 1 or 2 times where I had a breakdown like this that was this bad. Is that normal? I think I may be just sheltered, and generally avoid anything that could trigger me this badly like the plague.

There few roles where a character with a given disability aught to be played by a person with said disability. Acting is a high pressure high stress and highly skillful job. I don't think a person with real autism would be a good choice to fill the role, a great actor that can gently study autism and autistic people to learn how to do justice to the role was the right call

The guy has his own issues like his second failed marriage and losing his neurosurgeon career after having a brain tumor and Shaun starter to grind into his patience for like two whole seasons so he was ready to dissapear for a while.
Being someone who has BPD and ASD, this scene really shook me cause I’ve been through moments like this… the wires in your brain overloading with so much information and not being able to sort it all. The feeling of anger at yourself and lashing out at others who just want to be there for you… even the tics he showed (wanting to hit his head and hyperventilating) is something I’ve gone through… luckily I have amazing people who surround and are there for me so that I don’t have to be alone when moments like this happens

i watch these clips and i love them..i'm happy when he's happy..i'm sad when something doesn't go right..i think this show is fantastic but i don't know if i could on the whole handle seeing every show in it's entirety ..i bawled my eyes out at his pain in this clip..i don't want to see anything bad happen to him..i don't want him to hurt or be sad..i don't like when he's questioned in his knowledge..the overwhelming emotions are just too much....
