  • After going 21 miles to work on foot, I learned and reinforced a few important life lessons. I started at 2:20 AM, in around 39 degrees f. The temperature dropped further during the run to a low of around 32 degrees. My pace starting off was pretty well. I wanted to take it easy as I didn't know how my energy would be in the later part of the run. Halfway through, things started to get a bit more difficult as my legs fatigued and started to cramp.
I reached my destination at around 7:50 AM. The final 4 or so miles, I almost walked entirely as my legs were beginning to cramp quite badly. I was initially disappointed in how long it took, however, after reflecting a little I realized that that pales in comparison to 3 of the positives.
    1. Completing something I said I would.
    2. Placing myself in a situation to push myself.
    3. Facing a fear and conquering it.
Those were the 3 victories that came from this challenge. The important thing about them is, we can all do those 3 in our daily lives. And all 3 of those can have massive benefits on our lives. All 3 result in growth and progress whether towards a destination or becoming better versions of ourselves.
    I hope you enjoy!

Congratulations! My first marathon time was 3-31, 5 years ago. I watch your channel sometimes. As I understand it you are like boxing and you are programmer? It 's very interesting for me, because I am the boxer 18 years already, ran marathons and like to program C++. Sorry that my English is not good and I can't translate your full dialog. I will keep watching your channel. Greetings from cold Russia! (-40C degrees ;) )

Thanks man! Wow, 3:30 that's impressive! I have a long way to go before I can run that time or anything close to it. Congrats dude! I'm actually not a boxer though. I love the sport but unfortunately grew too old to be able to pursue it. Racing on the other hand, is still possible in my future.
Ha, I was wondering if Russia had a pretty cold climate. I have never been there but it's second on my list of places I want to travel to just behind China. I'll likely study a bit of Russian after Mandarin just to know a bit of language before traveling there. Really can't wait.

wow, great job! :) maybe it's not the best idea to switch completely to working out, as you will loose your running skills, same as you lost some of your muscle mass when you moved to running?

Thanks! :) Right, I hate that there may be a trade-off there. I'm going to see if I can maintain a decent balance. I've really just started to get my strength back for working out, but I enjoy running so I'll keep it up also. Just shorter distances. By the way, I meant to respond to your other comment on the previous video. I love on the U.S. I think you mentioned, Poland?

@@warren010h unfortunately like with everything - one big trade-off. If you want to keep your agility as well as build some muscles, you can check out Freeletics or Runtastic Results - there are both more or less the same, both uses bodyweight only, high intensity workouts. I used both, I'm now on Runtastic Results, due to personal preferences. But with both apps and a reasonably diet, results are great.
Hehe, yep, Poland it is :)

@@flamingo-stabbingo That is so true, everything comes with a trade-off. I think that's one of the main things - I want to keep my agility. I'm not trying to be too massive (muscle wise) for my height. I'm fairly short haha. Just you know, tone things up a bit more.
Awesome, thanks for the recommendations. I'll definitely check them out. I've also had to modify my diet lately because well, after a checkup, I was basically told to drop the carbs and sugars or else lol. So I've done a LOT better with what I'm consuming.
Nice. How's the climate in Poland? I've never been to those regions but do plan to begin doing a lot of traveling soon.

it's just a matter of your preferences, but those high intensity workouts are amazing. I can't recommend them more - burning fat, gaining "real" muscles (multiple pushups, pull-ups and all other, more advanced calisthenics exercices are no problem after week 8-10) and even if the in-app timer is ticking, you can still take your time to make all of the exercises 100% technically correct.
Both of these apps have their own nutrition guides (you might want to check that up once you sign up for premium membership), both have running trackers, but Runtastic has more apps in his ecosystem (like 15?) and a much better running tracker, and that's why I'm on their "team". But both have a "free start", so you check it out for yourself.
You definitely must come to Poland :) we have warm summers and cold winters, and, of course, nice spring and autumn which are something in between. Unfortunately, lately, there is not a lot of snow :( some say it's because of global warming, but who I am to know that ;)
