Stepping Away From YouTube (This Channel - Possibly Permanently); The Future

  • Hi guys! Something has been driving me to make this decision for quite a while so it isn’t just a spontaneous decision. I feel that I need to step away to fully engage in tending my garden and taking care of myself. I am pretty certain that I will start a new channel in the future; I’m just not certain on when. I have had a want to start a new channel and leave this one behind for quite a while and I think this is the first step towards that transition. But between the now and then, I absolutely have to take care of my own mental health. Which is ironic that I have done content on - and here I am. But, this is a process that cannot be half a**ed so I must take it serious.
I hope that through the years this channel has been beneficial to you all. And I appreciate those who have supported it.
Love you all! Goodbye for now.

Just to add, despite this being an extremely small channel, I do appreciate those who've stuck around over the years. This is a decision that's been lingering with me for quite a while and not one necessarily easy to make, but one that I feel I must. But again, I appreciate you all. Until next time, take care! 👋🏼

aw man, I'm genuinely sorry to see you go.
I've just graduated with an MSc computer science and I can honestly say it wouldn't have happened without you and another small channel (Confused Bi-product of a Misinformed Culture). I've literally just come from commenting on his last vid to say that my happiest recent memories are from a summer a couple of years ago when I sat in my garden just blasting both of your mixes, drinking some homebrew, and coding.
In fact, more recently, I had a really hard time during my dissertation and your mix that has "the swarm" in it really got me through some *really* hard mental blocks. I was given a topic that was well beyond my depth and I almost drowned in it, so I can't express how much it meant to have something that blew away all the self-doubt and unhelpful mental chatter for an hour or so. It was quite literally like being pulled up to grab some air so I could keep swimming to shore.
I've been away for a while, but I also liked your positive mental attitude orientated vids from a while ago. You're clearly a smart guy, as well as being straight up genuine, honest, and wanting to have a positive impact with what you do.
I completely respect you wanting to step away from social media - giving up facebook, instagram, and twitter about 10 years ago was absolutely the right decision for me. I'm considering giving up more as I realise that things like reading, playing music, writing have fallen by the wayside as I spent more and more time online.
Like I said, I'll be sorry to see you go, but at the same time I'm happy to know you're doing the right thing for you.
Sounds a bit strange saying it as I only know you through your uploads and a couple of exchanged messages, but for what its worth you seem like a quality bloke.
If there's one thing that I could say to try and influence you, then please follow your thoughts of learning more about music theory. I remember commenting on the track you uploaded that it could have come straight from the Deus Ex soundtrack. You've got real talent. I think that you could easily make excellent music without needing more training, but sometimes its necessary to do it to give yourself confidence. I think doing the degree I've done is similar. I had a lot of people tell me I had the talent and just needed to apply for jobs, but for some reason I just needed that training and certification to give me the confidence to create freely.
Anyway, sorry for rambling so much. Hope you do decide to come back, but if not then bon voyage and best wishes for your future :)

Thanks for the explanation. I've enjoyed the "programming / concentration music" mixes you put together, so much so that I downloaded them from your Google Drive. Thank you for those -- they helped me get through a lot of spreadsheets.
I think it's totally appropriate to step away from this, and find your next thing. I hope you're safe and happy. Good luck to you.

Thanks Mike! Much appreciated. Glad those lists got put to good use. I think with the feedback I've gotten, I'll probably use this channel to continue those lists. Which allows me to take a break while making use of the channel still.
But will definitely make sure I'm tending my garden first. Thanks again!!

Hey Warren, it is sad to see you go, but like you said you must take a break for you own benefit! With that, I would like to thank You for all your content that you have created and published here. I first stumbled upon your channel through the Programming/Concentration Music 010 video and it has been a great pleasure to join you on your philosophical journey of deep and motivational insights from there on for the past year or so. Even now I go through my favourite music playlist and put on your compilations and soon in the next couple of minutes I will delve deep into studying for my last two exams of highschool this week whilst listening to your Mirror's Edge or Deus Ex excerpts. Any more of them in the future would be appreciated and definitely saved. Again, truly thank you for your videos - you are full of dedication, confidence and big ideas and I wish you all the best in the future.
Much love from Lithuania, brother, take care!

Hi Ignas! First off, good luck on your exams. If you've already completed them, I'm sure you've done great. Glad the coding mixes have been of good use for you. And also that you've enjoyed the more philosophical topics as well. I think this is what the future holds for another channel at some point in the future. But I do plan to perhaps upload more of the mixes here as I come up with then. Will be happy to share those as they come. Take care. And again, good luck!

Also, just realized you said the final exams of HS, so sounds like graduation is likely near for you. So I just want to say, whatever your plans are for the future, I wish you good fortune there. Keep your eye on whatever it is you want out of life, and no matter how difficult things may be or how uncertain things may get, just have your reason for why you push forward. Whatever it is that you want to achieve, you certainly can. Nothing is easy but as with most things, hard work and effort will surely do you more better than not. Don't let anyone deter you on your path. Be conscious of yourself and your surroundings at all time, even what's in your mind. I don't want to write a novel but just wanted to say I'm rooting for ya!

I'm a big fan of your programming music list. Not sure why, but all these years later, I keep coming back to them. They really help get me in the zone for my coding. They've helped a lot during my CS graduate studies (still rocking the list now during my PhD). I just randomly clicked your name and saw this video. I hear it's quite difficult to breakout on UA-cam unless you have high production value, clickbait titles, get promoted by influencers, and so on. Most important thing is to take care of yourself, do what makes you happy buddy! Good luck with everything.

Hey man, I've actually never watched any of your videos other than this one and the coding music ones, but I'd just like to say take some time to care for yourself!
And know that regardless of what you choose, thousands of people have a better time in the office/coding due to your playlists, and km sure thousands more from your other videos - take care!

Thanks Bruno! Means a lot! Glad the coding lists have been beneficial to you all. I made a positive career change shortly after this year began and I'm in my first development role. So I'll likely be compiling more music for future lists as I begin to need them again myself. It's the positive feedback like what you just said that makes me want to continue to upload them if they can help others as well so, that may be the route I take. Really appreciate it!

Hi Warren. Well absolutely, do what you need to do for you. I'm a long-time lurker of your channel, and I just want to let you know that I really love your compilations. You just said they are nothing special, but I'll disagree with you on that. I've checked out many other channels, but none of them lock in for me like yours. They really *are* special. So ... thanks for the videos, and I hope things work out for you. I'll look forward to updates from you from time-to-time. I wish you all the best. And thanks again!

Thanks for all the content over the years! I have enjoyed your videos and the level-headed way you approach topics and situations in life. Regardless of what each video has been about, it is refreshing and revitalizing to see someone else questioning where they are headed and taking steps to stay on a successful trajectory. Also, I still enjoy the programming mixes lol thanks for keeping them up

You're the guy who made me listen those amazing songs while studying cybersecurity
You're the guy who made me discover Converter by Megadrive and Megadrive it self
You are the channel were I always come when I had to study or do some training in ethical hacking, programming
You're the guy who slowly said "cybersecurity is what you are made for!"
You're the guy who made me look universities in the US for moving permanently with my GF there since she loves computer science too, and studying what I love
You are and you will forever be the soundtrack of this adventure
    Thanks
I wish you a nice life dear, take your time to feel better, it’s important...

Arisyn, that was really touching to read. Extremely happy I've helped make a difference through the years through those videos. It was the purpose behind them and purpose behind the channel. Continue to take care on your journey and keep progressing forward.
With the feedback I've gotten, I'll likely continue to upload lists to this channel as I use them for my own work now - just as the whole idea started. So, I get to still more so be away for myself, but still make use of the channel to benefit others.
Thanks again for the awesome comment. Again, glad I've been of help on your journey. Take care!

Hey, I'm a shadow watcher. Just wanted to say big thanks to you, brother. I found your channel thru your "hacker/programming music for concentration" original upload years ago, which really helped me get thru a tough time in my life. Much appreciation. Enjoyed all your other videos as well, you have a good head on your shoulders, I'm sure you will succeed at whatever you decide to do from here on out. Either way, I'll be rooting for you.
    God bless ✊🔥
