This is so true. I spent almost an entire summer trying to FORCE the lag. Just had to relax and let it do the work for me and focus on shot selection and other types of technique.
The wrist optimally never be intentionally laid back. If the body properly swings the arm & the kinetic chaining sequence is efficiently recruited, then the smaller muscles of the arm are free to coordinate the microscopic motor skills & time the racket angle for more exact contact dynamics. Basic Biomechanics Principles
In my experience, true lag happens when you properly uncoil the torso and the arm and wrist are relaxed. I was arming my forehand without knowing it, until I filmed myself and saw that my right shoulder (righty) was rotating after the swing, not before.

The only way to create good racket flip is to have the racket tip pointing to the side fence until the very last moment before the forward swing starts. Your flip is minimal because your racket is pointing behind you when your swing starts.
Is that really crucial for hitting a good forehand tho? In this vid you can see Thiem's tip of the racquet also pointing behind him before initiating the forward swing, and it's still a pretty good forehand.

Probably my favorite video so far

No, definitely not crucial.
only way* but also *definitely not crucial*.... ok got it. so basically contradict yourself and ignore the tips in the video! 🤕 @@watcher687
Advice record your videos with high frame rates to have better slow motion smooth shoots it. Is a key to better see each part of the motion
he's used multiple players with slow motion footage? pointless comment
Nice yellow shoes.
