Rented a car last year in Rhodes and was fully satisfied, the guy asked me for my driver license and brought the car in front of my hotel the day after. Unfortunately the car has had an engine issue and I got stuck in the highway the same day, but in a matter of minutes they were there and gave me another car offering me to pay half of what I owed, I refused the offer and paid it all cause they've been pretty kind and fast in all they did
Speaking as a greek rent a car company owner , I am sure that next time the car will be reserved without even order it. 😂 Greetings from Crete filoi mou!
Wow, reminds me of me and my friend renting a car in Πάρος around 2000. When the hotel owner heard we wanted a rental, he offered us his wife's old Fiat Uno for a πεντοχίλιαρο. Trust me when I say that was her personal car and he was not in the business of car rental!
We rented a car a few times through a friend of a friend in Kalamata who had her own little car rental business. The rental was exactly the same way. I liked seeing everyone else lining up in front of the rental desks, signing their lives away, and with us, Mary would wave to us, give us the keys and point to where the car was parked. We'd be on the road in less than two minutes.

So true. Having been on many islands, the one common denominator is the perception of time. You can race around all day, and at the end of the day, you're Still there. Right back where you started. While on Carribbean islands we'd have gov't bureaucrats come down (Always in the winter months, how convenient...) and always wearing a watch or cocerned about what time it was. So for the 1st few days we'd show up to the office, in correct attire, exactly at 8am, taking our morning break exactly at 10am, lunch at noon, afternoon break at 2:30 and exactly 4:30 and not a second earlier, we'd head out the door. We'd maintain that facade for the week or so while they were there and once we put them on the plane it was back to Island Time: get to the office usually by 8:30, intermittent breaks threw out the morning, head out to lunch about 11:30, back to the office by 1 and wrap things up by 3 or no later than 3:30 and call it a day. As long as we kept plenty of paperwork flowing to the head office all was copacetic. They were in the dark and happy, we were in the warm tropical sun with the warm waters lapping on the beach, and happier. They say Ignorance is Bliss. They were ignorant, we were bliss ...
Same thing happened to me. Taxi brought me to a house with a bunch of cars outside. They had a problem with their credit card machine so I paid like 30 Euros cash and drove away. I do remember being asked for my license, though.
We have rented a car 25 years ago on Corfu island, same story.Greeks are very good people. We had great time especially after meeting beautiful british ladies
Renting a car in Athens was a great experience-both affordable and convenient. The process was simple, and picking up the car at the airport saved a lot of time. Driving around the city was easy, and having a car allowed me to explore the nearby historical sites like Delphi and Cape Sounion at my own pace. The rental rates were reasonable, and fuel prices in Greece are lower compared to many European countries, making the trip budget-friendly. Highly recommend this option for travelers wanting more freedom to explore! Learn more here.
That's funny because it's true!! On the continantal part of Greece is not that simple, but still is the only country in Europe wewre you don't need a credit card for renting cars! I'm Italian by the way, we already are over relaxed people, but Greek are just on another level, Love them!
I think he was referring about the delivery time not the delivery day. And that is true especially in islands and viallages people don't really care about small details. On the other hand I was surprised that the car was delivered on time
@@alexp3572 come on guys , in most islands if you rent a car at 10 o clock and you bring it back at 11 they try to charge you more, if you delay 2-3 hours or more they even try to charge a full day..specially when you have paid by card you need to show them you are not willing to pay a full day...and you would report on many social media

Rented a car last year in Rhodes and was fully satisfied, the guy asked me for my driver license and brought the car in front of my hotel the day after.
Unfortunately the car has had an engine issue and I got stuck in the highway the same day, but in a matter of minutes they were there and gave me another car offering me to pay half of what I owed, I refused the offer and paid it all cause they've been pretty kind and fast in all they did
😂👍 unbelievable. The guy spoke clearly English and Greek.
I'm not Greek but I know a few of the scoundrels. This guy is bang on! Very, very funny!
This video is a universal guide for every Mediterranean country😂
Speaking as a greek rent a car company owner ,
I am sure that next time the car will be reserved without even order it. 😂
Greetings from Crete filoi mou!
Hahahahahhaha, very funny! I liked also the face expressions you did!
It does sound like something a Greek would do! 😂
Δάκρυα....χαιρετισμούς από Αγγλια
I met him a few years ago, very kewl guy, funny and humble:)

I literally thought the exact same thing.
So did I
looks like an older Chris Farley
"Where you gonna go? It's an island. We'll find you."
In short, "You can't escape me kiddo."
My experience is similar except the owner showed up at 11 instead of 10 and also was 1h late when we returned it

The world as It should be. That's why I love Greece
This mans the best 🤣🤣
That's the magic of pure Greece.
Refreshing to be treated like a human instead of like a criminal .
Exactly. As a Greek American, you rent a car in the USA and you run the risk of imprisonment should you put a scratch on the damn thing.
This man loves pastichio,,,,poli,,kalos!
And not only.
I found Angelo and I will not let him go!
Fantastic comedy!
Thank you Greece
For a moment I thought that was Chris Farley ...
i thought he was Jay Cutler
He's going to go the way of Chris too
Renting a car in Athens was a great experience-both affordable and convenient.
Dude you should tell him when you will bring the car back. You are the customer.
The other guy doesn't care. The more he keeps it, the more he will pay.
Ότι καλύτερο έχω λιώσει στα γέλια 😂😂😂😂😂😂
“It’s an island” is a really good basis for trust.
Στο χωριο εχει προτεραιοτητα ο κατοικος του χωριου , μετα ο γαμπρος και μετα αυτος που εχει προτεραιοτητα.
Yap. We'll find You.
