  • Starting off just east of Hillier in the wetlands, I start making my way northwest along this section of the Millennium Trail until I hit Consecon. This was the stretch of trail that interested me the most when I looked it up a few days before riding it because of the long causeway just south of Consecon. The causeway was definitely the highlight of the trip for me!
There was still a fair amount of closed in sections of trail, but things started opening up more along this part of it compared to the part between Wellington and Hillier. You can really see the gravel dust all over the bushes along the sides of the trail as well and by this point both me and my bike were covered in it!

Looks like a perfect trail and a perfect ride. From what I can see fleetingly, this must be one of the few rails-to-trails routes where so many of the former telegraph poles were left inlace. Surprising!

You can also see old telegraph poles along the K&P Trail and the North Grenville Recreational Trail. The section of the K&P south of Sharbot Lake where it's really remote and it has a causeway through wetlands has some and the North Grenville Rail Trail has a bunch of them in the town of Kemptville. Both still have insulators and wires hanging off of the poles. It's kind of neat to see an old piece of railway history still in place!

I’m definitely going to see that trail this year. I hear it has lots of side trips to wineries and micro brews. Maybe you’ll make a whole series of side trips from all the trails you’ve been on. Thanks for the ride.

Great idea. There are definitely a lot of really neat shops and businesses along the different trails. It would be kind of nice to do some edited content to show off some of those places. I might try to do some of that this summer if I can.
