Some time ago, me and a buddy got together to start a small Lawn Mowing business on the side of our main jobs. It was my first time to own a String Trimmer, and since we were "professionals" I oped for what was considered the best that the time. He used to get irritated at me because, without meaning too, I would run my trimmer at full throttle while trimming. "Back off the gas", he would tell me. I didn't know any better so I tried. Now I find out I was actually doing it right. Ron? Are ya listening?
I am using a trimmer with a four stroke engine, this just reinforces the reasons to be using one.Plus its quieter, It might be a little heavier but not having to mix and store 2-stroke gas - plus the clogged carburator issues, deterioated fuel lines makes it work for me.
Nonsense. 4 stroke can suffer from deteriorated fuel lines and clogged carburetors just the same. 2 stroke is easier to repair and service than 4 stroke. You sound like a vegan.
if i run my fs70 wide open i'd be throwing rocks and going through line like crazy. i understand the WOT burning fuel better so i crank it up once in a while to get it hot but when i am trimming i do it just as much as needed. i have a lot of windows.
All you people complaining that it'll throw rocks and stuff at WOT need to learn how to use a trimmer. The line should never touch anything but grass. If it touches the ground, you're digging in the dirt, often useful, but hardly a job for a string trimmer.
Hes right about the spark arrester but just remove it, hes wrong about running wide open, u have to only go as needed on the throttle or u will wreck shit, hes a repair man that wants u to wreck your trimmer so he can charge u for repairs from bad advice he gave u, on wide open u will go through massive amounts of string too, give throttle as needed if it takes it being wide open to cut the grass then yes but if not needed ur are much better off nursing that throttle, i only restring my trimmer maybe three times a year and it’s around ten years old never needed any repairs other than a spark plug and air filter, done myself
This made me LMAO! I can just see this Man out running WOT, spewing mulch and rocks and crap all over the place, Like in those Allstate ads, the mayhem guy, and slinging rocks through windows and all! 😂
Yep , that is the first thing I take out of every StihI I own , all 7 of them and have never had a problem .
Great advice and thank you. I like the Straight Forward and no nonsense, to the point video.
Thank you, your comment is appreciated!!

Straight gas, instead of ethanol blend will do the same thing for a 2 stroke engine.

Just get rid of the spark arrestor.
Gee, I don't know what happens but somebody comes into my shop and removes all of my spark arrestors! Damndest thing I ever heard of!

Take out that screen. Problem solved. You don't have to run em wide open. If it were designed to run wide open you wouldn't have a manual throttle.
Run it wide open and u can break windows in cars and homes from rocks and debris flying plus u go through line like crazy, this guy is wrong
Sounds more like you don't have much experience! 😂😂😂
They are supposed to be run wide-open for best performance and longevity.....
@@leedanielson7452 Next time I drive through a parking lot, I'm flooring the throttle, because I don't want carbon to build up in the fuel system!🤡
