I'm of similar build and have the same problem with Carhartt sizing. It's either too large in the belly or too short in the sleeves and tight in the shoulders. I really wish they made more of their stuff in a medium tall, or even a small tall. Some of their items are sized so generously that I have to get a small which is surprising since I'm 6 feet tall. I still like their products though and will continue to buy them, but I always buy in person or from an online store with a good return policy. Glad you got some time away. Anyone on a farm or ranch knows that you get used to the constant strain of so many unfinished projects and things that need to be done everywhere you look, but it is still so important to get away once in a while.
I completely agree. I like the fit of the M around the chest and waist but I absolutely hate it around my armpits and shoulders. The jacket feels tight there I would probably be adjusting the fabric regularly. Then again, the L is much much more comfortable, yet the jacket is HUGE. I feel like I could stick basketball between my stomach and the jacket in size L. Funny to see this guy actually did it. I've spent the last 30 min trying both jackets on and I cannot make up my mind for the life of me. Too bad, I like the jacket, the look and the price.
I’m about 160 and can wear a medium in most jackets. My deluth puffer in medium fits great. I tried on the carhartt Bartlett and the jacket fit fine other than the arm pits where a little snug which would get really annoying very fast so it was a no go. They do have a zipper equivalent which fit a little better.i noticed some of there jackets have ridiculously large arm diameter also. Idk why they have such odd sizing on some stuff. If I don’t get the zipper one I may try another brand like Berne or Wolverine.
I’m a Manitoban. A Canadian living in one of the coldest cities in the world. It’s not unusual to have weeks of -30 to -40 weather in the winter. That coat looks awesome. You are going to be happy when you can wear layers on those bitterly cold Norwegian days. Cheers!

My experience with carhartt is that fit depends on what country it was manufactured in. I own shirts that range from medium to extra large and they all fit. I’ve figured out that you must try it on before you buy it.

I swear by Patagonia's Hemp Canvas Ranch Jacket. I made the switch from a Carhartt Duck Zip Work-Jacket two years back and haven't regretted it. Admittedly the Patagonia is $50 more, but their jackets are recycled/responsibly sourced and, for a jacket that'll last me 5-7+ years, I don't mind dropping the extra money. It's plenty warm for Central New York falls/springs and layered up with a Duckworth hoody is good for me down to 5-10 degrees Fahrenheit. The hemp-canvas wears just as well as the Carhartt but is more flexible. At 193cm, 98 kilos the XL is a really good fit. If I'm remembering correctly there was a Patagonia store or two when passing through Helsinki and Turku. Finland isn't Norway but maybe there's a retailer out in your neck of the woods? I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has any experience with hemp-canvas and if they get any good jokes for rocking a jacket made out of the wanna-be electric lettuce!
I had the same problem with mine, it was so wide and short it looked ridiculous. I'm 5'10" 150lbs and I got a medium and it was way too big but I didnt go for a small because then it be too short.
I'm 5 "11 240lbs, my concern with this jacket was all the rest of the videos make the jacket look like it was more for slimmer people. I usually take an xl and was nervous it wasn't going to be large enough. Cool video

I just bought this jacket, i will have to return it, bought it in a size L based on reviews, then I saw this youtube video.. - and the package arrived 1 day after. Its way to big in the stomach, so im going to try and return it to a size Medium. for reference im 174 cm, 95 kilograms athletic build / muscular with wide shoulders, - its way too big in the stomach though, I could be carrying twins no problem. On the reviews it said that you can buy in large and regular sizes, but on Carhartts website I cant order that when I did it.. ?
Thanks for the post mate. Like yourself I'm 174cm, about 98 kg and broad shoulders. I was gonna go for the Large size but I like my jackets to fit me properly and not baggy. These aren't issues with the jackets per se. Judging from the fact that your old jacket looks way too small and your new one is too big, it seems like you're neglecting the importance of proper sizing. I suggest that instead of ordering online you go into an actual store if possible and try on different sizes of the jackets before buying. But it isn't accurate to portray buying a jacket that is not your size as an inherent issue with the jacket itself.
It's not possible to try all carhartt sizes in a store unless you are in the US. They don't export a large part of their lineup and none of the tall sizes.
I actually forgot this was a jacket review for a minute and just had fun watching the video.
