After hurricane Ireine blew through, Carhartt showed up with tractor trailers full of clothes (coats, pants, gloves and hats) to pass out for everyone effected. That sold me on Carhartt.

Thanks for the great review. Since the Duluth store opened in St.Charles,MO, I’ve become a Duluth junkie. The trick to save on their products, is to get on their email list. My favorite items are the Duluth flex and dry on the fly pant and shorts. I’m very picky on size and color of any purchase, so it’s nice that I can go to their store and try them on. Almost every item I’ve purchased, has been on sale for 30-40% off! I have a carhart jacket with bibs that is 14 years old that I still wear. It’s strange that the Duluth store that I mentioned is next door to a carhart store that seems largely ignored!?

They are the oldest single family owned cut and sew clothing company in America and all their clothes are 100% American made. You're gonna pay a premium for that but their clothes are long lasting. The very first of pair of Duluth Trading Post Firehose pants I started wearing was purchased for $20 on eBay. It might have been used, but I'm still wearing it 5 years later (i did research out in the forests of northern CA and Wyoming and needed protection from the thorny bushes and trees). I've purchased 2 more pairs whenever they were on sale (like $45 at 40% off). Their flex firehose pants are less thick but stretch more (great if you have to squat or sit on the floor) and feel cooler in the heat of summer, but don't look like they'll last as long as regular firehose pants. I've also bought their firehose jackets and a bunch of other stuff on their website. Do note that not all the products they carry are made in the USA - some to their T-shorts are made in China.

    My Duluth experience:
I'm a pretty cheap dude when it comes to clothing, I buy most of my daily wears at goodwill or the salvation army second hand store. About a year ago I found a pair of Duluth fire hose pants at a goodwill for about $10, they quickly became my absolute, hands down favorite pants I've ever owned.
After several months of wearing them I wanted another pair so I googled Duluth, wouldn't you know they just opened a new store just a couple months ago 20 miles from me in the rat infested city of Portland Oregon.
I'm a 46-48 waist, the pants I had did not have a size listed anywhere, the only way I knew they were Duluth was their name was on the zipper and button....no patches or any other indication.
So I brought them in as a model to show to tell them "I want an exact pair like these". I approached the cashier with pants in hand and started to tell the associate "I got these from goodwill and........"
He cut me off right after I mentioned goodwill and said "I can't take these, they aren't even mine". As he was blabbering about not being able to refund them I told him "hey, I brought these to buy another pair, I'm not bringing them back, I love them and want another pair".
He then sized them up and told me "these are ancient, from the mid 90's and all we have are these ". Which were the same but better which I went on to buy a pair online cause they didn't have my size. Now I have a brand new pair in addition to my ancient pants. Best damn pants I've ever owned, never dreamed I'd spend $80 on a pair of pants.
To anyone who carrys 2 guns, a knife, flashlight and a bunch of trauma gear I would reccomend these pants to. That was long winded but it was MY experience with Duluth. Best damn pants money can buy!
    Brian
