RIP the unparalleled comedy genius Bob Newhart. 1929-2024
Rest in peace, Bob Newhart 🕊🥀❤
Thanks, Tiffany.
RIP Mr. Newhart. Thanks for all the laughs. You lightened all our lives with your humor.
Rest in Peace Bob, now you are with your buddy Don. Thank you for the memories.
I knew Conan would be paying tribute for Bob here. Conan gives me hope for humanity in these dark times.
RIP. He was incredible.
I will miss him very much. So will my brother Darryl and my other brother Darryl
❤
I'm maybe too young so I got to knew Bob's work only through Conan.
But the very second I first saw this guy I laughed like never before, immediately knew we're in the presence of legendary comedy mind!
So sad to see the legend go.
Good for you. You'll enjoy his sitcoms.
@@TonyWud Already do!
He actually did his "phone routine" in a WWII movie, believe it or not. It's called, "Hell is for Heroes".
Bob Newhart... what a great combo, a brilliant man and a truly nice man.
very sad today to hear about the news. Much respect and love to this man and his legacy
I know Conan or Andy won't see this, but I want to say it to them anyway. You two have saved my life on more than one occasion. As a young man I went through some really rough times. Times that made me not want to be on earth anymore, if you know what I mean. I would sit up late at night feeling like a complete failure. During those times I started noticing Conan on television. It was the one time a day that I would laugh. As wild as this sounds, your show was that one bright spot that I needed. Your show shined a light on hope for me, something I did not have in my 20s.
Now as a 44 year old man, I have an amazing wife and a career making more money than I ever dreamed possible. Not just any career, my dream career. I became a software engineer and had some great luck and opportunities come my way that sent me down the path of success, and eventually my own company. I often think back about those dark times. To think I would have missed out on this amazing thing called life if I hadn't found you by accident one night. Life is strange. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you both.
Such an amazing legend. This one hurts.
Bob Newhart Show "from September 16, 1972, to April 1, 1978, with a total of 142 half-hour episodes over six seasons..." So now 52 years. What a delightful program to watch!
We'll miss you Bob!
I did not see the show until years after I saw the entire run of "Newhart". I was 7 when "The Bob Newhart Show" ended. The ending of "Newhart" made me look up the OG show. I did not get it until I saw that episode of Conan and bought the box set. Well worth the buy.
@@bamachineThis is pretty similar to why it's always better to read the book, then see the movie. 😅
The end scene in that last episode of Newhart without that OG point of reference must've made zero sense to you. I watched all of both shows back in the day - I was 10 when The Bob Newhart Show started up. And the end to Newhart more than a decade after the first show had ended was perhaps the most unexpectedly hilarious thing I've ever seen. I've cracked up just thinking about it many times over the years. Couldn't have been more perfect.
By the way, as I found out from the obits pouring in last week, that scene was entirely his wife Ginny's idea. She wasn't even in the biz, but what a great match they must've been...
@@hunglikeahamster3248 I kind of got the ending of "Newhart" when it first aired because I had heard of his prior show and knew that she played his wife in that show. I just did not 'get to see' the earlier series until after I got the box set that was talked about in that clip from Conan. I reread what I posted before and I can see where it was misleading. It would have had even more impact for me if I had seen the OG series first though.
Sorry for the confusing original post.
@@bamachine Well, it seems like you misunderstood me somehow, cuz that was my only point. I know it would have been far more hilarious for you as well if you'd seen the whole first series, then 10+ years later, saw that spectacular ending. Kinda precluded by not being born early enough for that to have happened though. 😂
@@bamachine PS: I'm glad it made some sort of sense to you, at least. I doubt the kids these days would even tolerate watching either series, sadly. Nor would they like them anyway.
And I really didn't like the second one nearly as much, honestly. It was full of such severely irritating characters like Michael and Steph and even Bob's wife - the only redeeming thing about it was of course Bob himself.
We lost another from that great generation. RIP Mr. Newhart, RIP.
R.I.P Bob Newhart ❤
Thanks, Randi.
Thanks for running this! Still watch his old shows.❤
RIP Bob. Give Ginny a big hug and kiss!!!❤❤❤❤
He will always live on as Professor Proton in Sheldon Cooper's dreams.
What a legend we lost, so nice of a man
Dude is in his late 80s here and still has killer timing
don't check the news
@@aviralgupta393 I was referring to the video, which was filmed in 2017
He was on point, right? Killer timing, killer mind. His show back in the 70's was the best, frickin crazy. If anyone hasn't watched it, do it.
I was looking for this very clip last night and now you've posted it! Thanks Team Coco!
RIP Bob. You were a class act.
Absolute genius and a wonderful man!!
I will miss Bob Newhart and luckily have that and many other records of his.
Heaven has their new headliner. Rest In Peace Bob.
Bob Newhart is very special and relatable
RIP, Bob. Thanks for all the laughs.
Fellow Chicagoan, fellow Cub fan, and one of the best comics ever. So loved as himself that his two hit sitcoms were based on him. Let’s not forget the “Hi Bob” drinking game.
Thanks so much for posting this.
Man.... I loved your show... and your albums... thank you!! RIP
Conan was the first person I thought about after Bob's motorcycle accident.
There needs to be a full on investigation. Bob was only 94. So young.
Neal Obrien: "What happened?"
What motorcycle accident?
It's in relation to a bit on the conan podcast
When did he have a motorcycle accident,? Can't find anything by googling? Loved him. His death really affected me. I am 77 now and grew up with him. One of a kind for sure
@@lynnfisher3037 Well, he was on his motorcycle and he ran into an Exxon tank. And it exploded.
R.I.P. Mr. Newhart
RIP. ❤ Such a wonderful man!
truly a legend. rip bob newhart
The moment i saw this notification...i knew
Rest in peace Bob!
End of an era 🙏♥️
Dr Harley helped plenty of people. Imagine how much worse Carlin would have been!!!
RIP Bob.
Rest easy Professor Proton
What a legend! RIP Bob....
R.I.P. Professor Proton. You definitely will be missed
Immediately thought of Conan when I read Bob Newhart passed. Always mentioned his name when discussing his inspirations
His interview in Conan O'Brien needs a friend is still one of the best, and I'm definitely listening to it again tomorrow...
I have many memories of laughing, thanks to Bob Newhart!
Man, oh man..not many of these golden-age of network TV comedy legends are left!
I have two brothers named Dave, that was close enough for most. The 80's were hell for me as a kid because of Bob.
Wow. He was almost 88 when this aired. And I busted out laughing at that "at least it went to a friend" line. One of the greatest things about him - he trusted the intelligence of the audience and didn't dumb it down or make it glaringly obvious for the lowest common denominator viewers like so much crap does these days. Or those days, for that matter.
I dunno why but his Simpsons cameo made me laugh so much
I think in a way,, in a very meaningful way thatt, all of us, have, have learned from him.
Gonna miss you Bernard.
phone rings...Hi Bob ! it's God calling ❤🎉😊
The final episode of Newhart when he wakes up with pleashett sp ? Is great just classic, brilliant.
"Hell is for Heroes", was his film debut... it is incredibly entertaining and funny, keeping mind the edit, even on DVD is ridiculous, it probably lacks every essence of a solid plot. But BOB and the cinematography make it brilliant ❤️👍
His King Kong bit still kills me.
Bob is with his great friend Don now
RIP to the legend Bob Newhart 🥲
A great life and made our lives better. Bob with the ultimate win. Well done and thanks.
Rip bob. Total legend and sweetheart of a man !
I still remember the episode when Bob tells Carlin that, "the truth never hurt anyone." Carlin replies, "Oh yeah? You're short. You speak in clichés. And your beeper doesn't beep." Bob: "Well, it hurts a little." 😏
Bob's gonna wake up in his past life now having dreamt this life and making 2 TV shows
Julia Louis Dreyfus should have done what Newhart did at the end of his “Newhart” show … “Veep” being a dream sequence.
Well to make people feel a little better. Im only a teen and are generation knows about him
Rest in Peace to a Legend 🕊️⭐️
Newhart was one of the best ever. May he rest in peace. But REALLY....he got to kiss Suzanne Pleshette every week. A life worth living.
As a non American, i have never heard of this gentleman.
From this conversation, i gather that he was one of the pioneers of comedy?
He was. I’m sure there is a lot who’s stuff on UA-cam.
He also had two great sitcoms, The Bob Newhart Show 1970’s & Newhart in the 1980’s. Plus he was in Elf & Legally Blonde.
RIP, King
A legend never dies
On CONAF, Mr. Newhart said that child cancer patients are too sick to retaliate. Well, now he and the kids can face each other now. RIP, sir.
*R.I.P.* Bob.
You are a legend !
Love Bob. RIP!
RIP BOB….I WATCHED EVERYTHING YOU DID!!! I AM SO SADDENED BY THIS
Yesterday I saw a rerun of the Professor Proton episode of Big Bang Theory and looked him up at Wikipedia, just to learn that he was gone.
Comic Genius.
1976 was the last year for the Dodge Dart until the 2010s. 😁
55 blocks. Excellent exercise.
❤U Bob.
one of Conan's poorer interviews, but no matter cause even at his age the Great Bob Newhart spoke for himself. Love you Bob and thanks for the decades of laughs!
He was so young 😢
Soooooo enjoyable.
R.I.P. Bob
Legend.
Hi Bob
See you when I get there Bob
💐
Axl, as it turns out, also married into the Everly family…for 8 months.
That’s right…Bye Bye Love/Cathy’s Clown and Sweet Child O’ Mine/Welcome To The Jungle were in-laws.
❤
Professor Proton....😓
His heart never healed after his wife died because they were married for 60 years (and that’s too long for a spouse to move on and eventually look back and remember his/her/their late spouse happily). I’m sure his persistent misery made him sick and killed him!
I'm younger but I had a. Crush on him😮
One of the greatest US Presidents ever, alongside Abe Lincoln, Peter Sellers and Jack Nicholson.
(Of course including movie Presidents as well as real ones.) 🇺🇸
😟😢😢😭😭😭😭😭
He's 88 in this
It's too bad the one Bob Newhart clip in The Simpsons isn't better :/
Bye Bob. Thanks.
What’s the asking on the Dart?
He could rest in peace if people would stop telling him to.
Bye, Bob
Conan is the last late night tv host. All other late night TV shows have become full on dem. campaign against the Rep. And DT. True entertainment is long gone now its all propoganda.😢
Nothing's more annoying than audience members clapping when they don't know why they're clapping. I bet half the audience isn't even old enough to even know who Bob Newhart even is
God bless this man
Rip, loved him in Elf
Rest in piece Professor Proton
