5 years in the US now,and it still freaks me out when restaurant workers run away with my credit card.I mean......21st century guys, there are gadgets available for swiping at the table.Getting the first man on the moon 55 yrs ago, doesn't give the US a free pass to say no to basic modern technology 😋
I think it's literally illegal to walk away with your card in some countries, but what the hell even is swiping? 😀 I have debit card since like 2010 and I think it was already contactless, I use swiping only to unlock door with ATM in weekends. 😀
@Pidalin ATM doors,I remember those days haha. Here it's all drive-thru,so you can eat your food, have your coffee while getting cash out.God forbid anyone have to move their ass unnecessarily 😄
poeple standing outside calling you to come are only the restaurants for tourists, not especially common in other setups.
I'm sorry to hear you guys have experienced loss in your families. I lost my grandmother, my mother and father within a 2 year period. It was tough to get passed, but i only now have noticed that i have no depression about that anymore. Last funeral was my grandmother's in February.
I truly do absolutely adore both of You, **Lynda** and **Brian** 😊 and, am sincerely so very sorry to hear of your having just recently experienced those deaths in your family; please believe me when i say that i definitely know quite well what that is like 🥹.... As ever, a totally brilliant and marvellous video, this 👍✨...! ~With much love, from NYC ( but originally from London, UK ) 🩷❤💖💖❤🩷
At least here we don't pay Tips xDDD
Don't have to*
"Freedom" 😂

European Restaurants find it rude to Rush people during dinning and it is seen as a family orientated gathering time.
Yeah, though if you are used to service checking up on you and not calling them, it could be pretty uncomfortable :D
@@mukkaar Should be the opposite lol it's nice to call them when they are needed.
We noticed that in Italy and Spain! We don’t mind it as we like to take our time and enjoy the environment
@@mukkaarI actively hate when they come to pester me.
@mukkaar You can tell good service by the fact that you don't notice that the service is there, but you get your STUFF.
pro-tip: in europe, just walk to the counter (?), and ask for the bill, works everywhere
Ya we did that in Spain and got used to that type of service
@@loners4life dont know why, but i love your vids, ..greeting from germany from a polish guy :D
Yeah, the service people here in europe does not bother you every 10 minutes. Just wave to them and they will come over and help you. Getting rushed out of a restaurant because they need the table... no I would never go back to that restaurant.
In Denmark (I am a dane) 2 dollars an hour here and the state will close you buisness and charce you as a chriminel,
Who would work for such money? Illegal immigrants? Here in Czechia, they also pay weird money to Romanian and Ukrainian workers, but nothing close to 2 dollar/hour.
I flew back in 2000 from France to San Francisco with a friend of mine for another French friend's birthday. As we had some time before the party started at night, we went to a restaurant in a mall near Union. We ordered, got a huge portion with sides of greens, very simple but very good. But some time after we had enjoyed our meal and were just relaxing, the waiter came and told us he needed the table. In France, you'd get fired for doing this. We got the check and left him a 2% tip, he wasn't around us when we left the cash on the table. A real culture shock!
Ya now there are limits for how long you can sit at tables lol
@@patrickdemarcevol those portions can be huge because of the exploitation of the waiters so I get why they have to turn tables as fast as they can.
That's also why there are so much waiters in the first place. If you only pay 3 dollars an hour you can have way more waiters. Our restaurants have to walk a smaller line between staff and margin.
It's a different approach, culture and experience all sides. The owner, the waiters and the guest.
@@justmandy6572 Absolutely right, we didn't know the working conditions of the staff at that time. But the waiter was still very abrupt and rude, hence the low tip
There's a huge misconception that the tipping keeps the service good.
Our way is that if you do well you'll get a higher sallary, just like at any other job.
Tipping exists but it's mostly rounding off the bill, like if it's $19 you may just pay $20 and say keep the change
Ya exactly that makes sense
US: The minimum wage is $7.25
Also US: You can pay your waiters $3.00
So it's not minimal wage ! Minimum is minimum. There's no such thing as less than minimum (theoretically).
The minimum wage is not even the same everywhere, each state has its minimum wage, sometimes it's 7$, sometimes it's 10,5$ and everything in between.
I died a bit when he ordered Freedom as a side dish 😂💀
lol this video was pretty hilarious 😂
I get the impression that food is seen as fuel in the US as opposed to European countries where food is seen as something to enjoy and cherish with family and/or friends.
The nicest way to signal to a customer to leave, is to offer him a digestive (liqour/shot or an Espresso) on the house. Or the waiter asks if you may want to order some more drinks (btw. drinks are the cashcow).
That seems like a good way to get the hint across
I got paid $2 per hour once, in 1970.
Legend has it, he is still waiting for Gustavo
in Europe - you just tell them you want to pay
or you stand up and go to bar/counter and pay but maybe becose of the tip difference you don't have that as much
Somebody standing in front of a restaurant and inviting people in only works in areas with foot traffic, ie, walkable areas. And those are rarer in the U.S..
comparatively "non existant" ;)
The Loners need ice cream cone looking mics. I think that every time I see one of their vids :)
That more american way of doing restaurants is slowly getting to Europe, on one hand, it's nice when waiter is kind and explains things and talk with you, but on other hand, it's pretty annoying, I want to sit there and just have something to eat and drink, I am not there to having conversations with waiters.
Fortunatelly, we have very low unemployment, so they mostly have no time to talk to me, they just bring it to you and they have to run so someone else. 😀
tips should be allowed, yet the service people should be getting better wage as well. Tip should voluntary.
I live in northern europe and actually I worked in a very expensive and good restaurant... our waiters were NEVER similing :D and it was kinda like " ok wtf you want ....." and then people havent decided yet and they just stand there awkwardly...but I was always very friendly and smiling to everybody :D and and layed out all the options for them, told then which wine they should choose with certain food...always checked on them if everything tastes good , I really wanted to work there and I always got such a good feedback and I was the only one that tourists always tipped ,,,eventhough you dont have to do it in here , I always split that with kitchen staff tho cause they do the most work, it is true tho that they always had to wait ALOT ...but thats a good thing cause that means that they really make your food...for an hour or 2 ...they dont just microwave it :D
$2 an hour?! 😳 Minimum wage for waiters here in Norway is $19. You guys need stronger unions!
well they need a government that will make it law to pay works a fair wage. How can they call their country freedom and yet their low wage workers are paid less then most other countries.
@@whymeeveryone We don't have any minimum wage by law in Norway. It's the unions that makes sure everybody has decent pay.
@@Dougie- yes fair enough but it law here in Australia
Sheesh this video was stupid. I laughed so hard. Idk whether it was even accurate but it was funny as heck.😂😂
Heatwave... in Northeast England it's been a year with no summer. Though I did see a funny orange ball in the sky one day
❤ from Northeast England ❤️
*@oopsdiditypethatoutloud* Ah, so yer a Geordie then are ya 😄...?! A truly brilliant pseudo yours, btw 👍🩷
@alexysq2660
A Pityakka... the unevolved of County Durham. So aye! A Geordie of sorts.
Where are you from?
@@oopsdidItypethatoutloud Hello there 😊...! Ah, right ya are then; i had a few mates who did their degrees at Uni Durham actually. They liked it quite well in fact. As for myself, am Mancunian by birth - and up ´til 4-1/2 years of age - but grew up in west London and, currently ( since 2015 ) residing in NYC ... am afraid 🙄😒.... ~Do keep well 🩷💖
@alexysq2660
You too kidda.
Did your friends put monkeys blood on their ice cream? If not, they've not truly experienced Durham. Do they do that in London or Manchester?
@@oopsdidItypethatoutloud Right; that´s the sweet raspberry sauce ya put on yer ice cream and that, up there in those parts, in´nit ? They had spoken of that actually, but the `name´ of it just put me right off it did 😒😆...! Tbh though, i really can`t recall ever hearing anyone using the term in London, nor in Manchester either: must be a purely ¨Durham/northeastern thing¨ i suppose, yeah 😁...? I truly do find a strong Geordie accent - and the terminologies - just a wee bit beyond my ¨ability to compre- hend¨ generally, have got to admit.... ~Much love 🩷😊
Always take care of yourself first. I look forward to your videos on both channels ❤
Thanks so much ❤

So sorry for your losses Lynda, that sounds rough.
I really liked this style of video, very funny.
Thank you very much.
That "tipping culture" in the US - which is not a culture but a rip off in fact - is truely sickening. So its not Europe that is weird, its the US.
If I would ever be presented with such a bill in the US, where you can chose between 20 or 25% tip, I would refuse it and demand to speak to the manager, to give him a lecture about fair wages. And if they dont want that, I dont give a tip at all. And tell them what the can do. They can call the cops if they like, there is no law that you have to tip.
If my restaurant price is like 200 euro's I don't feel the need to tip... They got enough from me
Certain restaurants will add automatic gratuity to your bill.
That was probably the worst video…
Sorry I guess 🤷🏻🤷♀️
yeah, the video was not funny at all, if that guy is in comedy he should find another hobby cause he is not good at it. his timing sucks too.
Seriously, the Cena Meme never dies, it seems 🤣
Best Wishes Linda
sorry for your loss. you doing agreat job by the way
Thanks for the kind words
😊😊😊😊😊❤
It's true! There are places in Europe where if you decide to eat lunch on your lunch break, you have to take a vacation.
Well, nobody stops you to stand up, go to the counter and pay. Southern europeans may consider it rude .. but who cares .. i have more important thins to do than waiting check ..
There are many, many MANY places in Europe.
Like: Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Zweden, Austria, Norway, Denmark, Latvia, spain, romania and Ukraine... Ya get, there's like 30 more countries
The European "presentation" is basically BS....
