Justice for Spirit! That movie destroyed me in the best way as a kid - so sad, but powerful. Bryan Adams killed that soundtrack, I still listen to it!!
Aside from the philosophical depth that got left behind in the show, what really annoys me is how the show portrays horse riding to young people. As someone who has experience with teaching riding, I find that so many children watch shows like this, develop an interest in horse riding, and come in with unrealistic expectations. They almost believe they’ll be the one to climb onto some "crazy" horse that just magically loves them and only them. They think they’ll form this instant, unique bond, and that they’re the only ones who can ride that horse. Then, when they actually start riding, they’re put on safe, well-trained horses (obviously no one would put them on unsafe ones). But when they eventually fall or get hurt, they don’t know how to handle it. They often blame the horse, which creates a huge cognitive dissonance for them because these shows and movies give the wrong impression. They signal that horses are will never put a foot wrong for the 'right' rider, or that the horse will only hurt people that 'deserve it' or something down those lines. Or even that hurting a rider is a conscious decision horses make. That’s why I loved the original movie. It showed how many times the character fell off, and how normal that was. Little Creek had to work hard to form a relationship with Spirit, and even in the end, he realized that the bond he ideally wanted wasn’t fully possible. So, he let Spirit go. It was honest, and showed that building trust with a horse takes time and effort, and it’s not always the way you imagine it. But in shows like this, where horses instantly love their riders and it’s all smooth sailing, are so frustrating. It sets up people who want to learn how to ride for disappointment because real life doesn’t work that way.
I’m biased but hand drawn animation has so much more expression for the characters, it’s so much harder to keep that charm in 3D and why it’s so easily lost by these small studio who don’t have Pixar budgets.
omg my kid loved the original spirit and then when we found the reboot we were like... UM THIS IS NOT EVEN SPIRIT. its literally the opposite and so sad. like, whos fucking idea anyway?

Girl i loved Spirit and the Barbie horse game! 😂
Same!! Sometimes I watch a little of the Barbie horse game videos on UA-cam to enjoy the nostalgia 😂💕
Honestly, from the way you described the show, it would have been better if they made a new IP instead of misusing Spirit
The beef my niece and I had caused she loved the show but I HATED IT
Not you hating on one of my favorite background shows 😭😭
I wished they continued the spin-off, they ended it without saying anything, none of the cast mates have been heard
0:20 I do not, I have seen it probably eight or nine times and know literally 0
"I dabbled in horseplay" 😂❤️ and what the heck did they do to Spirit? I didn't see this until now!!!
Thank you for watching!!! 💕
