Beatrix literally breaking Bill's heart, catching his sword into her open sheath. Even the five point palm exploding heart technique looks like her arm is a snake biting into him. The symbolism in this scene alone is off the charts. That's what makes Quentin so great. There are no shortcuts, everything is so precise.
If it was a different director, I would disagree. However, for Tarantino, I think you are 100% correct.
It rly does look like a snake striking it’s victim OMG ,, I never noticed
Your articulation of this scene brings the metaphor in to crystal focus.
She caught his sword in her sheath.
The sword SFX sound like the cash registers at the beginning of Pink Floyd's "Money".
Well, it could have been worse. It could have been the Five Point Palm Exploding Balls Technique.
Ouch man I grabbed my balls instinctively when i read exploding omg

But thats not lethal

“Pai Mei taught you the five palm exploding heart technique?”
“Of course he did”
God I love this particular line. Even though we see minimal interaction between Pai Mei and Kiddo besides their training, its obvious that both grew to have immense respect for one another, Bill isn’t even mad about the fact, he sound so proud that his best pupil was given that honor.
At this point we already known that. That's clear when she found out about his death.
i love how proud he is of her immediately for that.

Bill’s sword being put to rest in [beeps] sheath is so bloody poetic. Tarantino really directed the hell out of these movies.
Scabbard
@@bobbyhempel1513 sheath is also correct. I suppose you can argue that she was sheathing the sword in the scabbard.
Ah, I didn't catch that before.
Scabbard is only for Rifles
So much symbolism in this scene. Her final move in the five point palm exploding heart technique is that of a snake strike to the heart. The way she pauses as she delivers the final blow is one of complete commitment and without hesitation. Combine that with the fact that he is the "snake charmer" and that he fell in love with her, couldn't charm her and that she breaks his heart figurately and then literally. This is why I love Tarantino's movies.. so many layers and so much depth.
Meanwhile Tarantino: “Let’s use that strike, it looks cool.”
Funny, man, you didn't get it
Ontop of what you already mentioned there's also the fact that he struck away her sword and she sheathed his sword with her Saya. Also It comes full circle in reference to when she asked Bill at her wedding "How she Looks" and now here he is doing the same before his demise. As if both the "How do I look" lines were final goodbyes.
So her hesitation before she throws the last strike demonstrates a lack of hesitation?
@@jornavyr2459 No. I was trying to suggest that she was almost taking a moment to appreciate the fact that it would be the final strike and that it would seal his fate.
Best things about this scene; 1) They didn't do a long, drawn out battle, it was intense and short, and 2) the realization that at the end of the day, they still had tenderness for each other. She had to kill him, but she regrets doing it. He realizes she was a better woman then he deserved.
I don’t think it’s regret I think it’s relief. Those were tears of joy as shes finally free from bill. She held true to her code and showed him the respect she felt a warrior like him deserved.
She didn’t regret it. He underestimated her.
She far from regrets it. She just hates that it must be done.
she doesn't regret. Even if she stills have feelings for him...she just knows she did what she had to.
There's nothing wrong with drawn out battles, but in the context of this movie and who wrote/directed it, it makes sense and is very fitting that it's short and sweet.
I love how there's so many flood of emotions in this clip, everything from justification, to regret, reflection, understanding, contentment, and finally redemption.
0:27 The look of ultimate betrayal in bills eyes, cutting him deeper than any hanzo sword ever could, realizing in this very moment that his own master never saw in him, what he saw in her. ...which leads to his first question... (and i wonder what it was pai mei saw, that which was expressed in the confidence of her response) that which was enough to teach her, what he swore never to teach anyone. what must have cut even deeper (which leads to his second question) was the fact that in all of the years they spent together in love, she never told him what her master taught her, that her loyalty to pai mei was unbreakable. in comparison to his. I would like to think that pai mei gave her this gift realizing bills ultimate intentions and actions would one day lead to her having to use his very own technique to save herself from him...and that we're all witnessing that day played out here in this clip. this isnt a movie, its a masterpiece.

Yes, if it had been a comedy, because that is what this movie really is. But it was not marketed as such.
I love how determined Bea is in the final shot. You can love someone and still recognise them not being in your life is the best option, there's a feeling of longing and relief. You long for none of this to have happened, that it could have been good like the old days, but it did happen, you can't relive the past, gotta move forward. Bea is amazing.
One of these big cinematic moments in movie history. Because not only is it heartbreaking but it breaks with the old tradition that you can't kill the person you love. No. You absolutely are capable of this if the person you love is being a terrorizing monster in every aspect.

1- You have to admire how Hattori Hanzo's work is so consistent and good that one blade matches perfectly within the Scabbard of a completely different one of his .

Why would King Arthur prefer the scabbard to Excalibur?

But Bill is dead.
Always thought that would be awesome and right about now would really be the perfect time for that hopefully Quentin Tarantino does this as his last film
Considering today's social climate, Beatrix would have to lose in the end. That is of course assuming that Beatrix isn't recast as trans or black.
We dont need any such film. It wont be made, as it could only cheapen the franchise.
„overkill bill“
I used to often debate this with my friends, whether or not he faked his death. I always point this out: she actually checked his pulse and found none before saying "You look ready (to take those last steps)." This scene was too beautiful.

This scene hits so different if you've actually been betrayed by someone you love. The single-minded desire to get revenge doesn't erase the love that's still there between you despite what happened, and the history between you that doesn't disappear. The emotions, the swell of the music, the last sad laugh between Beatrix and Bill when they realize this is really the end of their story...Tarantino is an absolute and utter genius. He captured everything perfectly.
I get the feeling that bill was setting himself up for her to kill him. He say in the bedroom to bee bee that he was wrong. It was really his good bye to her. Bill was Drinking too much to win a sword fight. This is a movie that you can look at over and over. Thanks for sharing. c];-)
That's right
Among everything else, I love how Bill loves and respects his Master so much he could tell the technique had been delivered expertly and that it was over and just accepted it. If Pei Mei says you have five steps, you have five steps.
Ive never seen someone accepting death like that, oh man that was graceful
He lived by the sword and accepted dying by the sword.
Better than how he went out irl. Fatal wanking accident with a belt around his neck and an orange in the mouth.
Bill knew he would not be able to land his sixth step, nevertheless, he went for it. A warrior like Bill never gives up, not even at his dying breath, or step.
Fitting how her arm during the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique looked like a hidden black mamba striking its victim multiple times extremely rapidly. 🐍
Tarantino always brought out the absolute best in all his actors.

Morricone is a musical genius.
It sure did work.
For a model turned actress, she is bloody brilliant !
Kill Bill is amazing and should never be tampered with. No more sequels/prequels. No remakes.
Pretty sure Tarantino would never do that, he’s a filmmaker who doesn’t expand on his universe of films despite the fact that he could, which is why people always feel as though his films are always so great, the stories are always a slice of time and space where something is happening and despite whatever else is happening, what’s shown is the only part that the viewer needs to understand where and when they are.

This movie came out when I was in the middle of high school, and I remember being disappointed by how quickly the titular fight was ended.

At the end of the day, Kill Bill is about two former lovers who didn't trust each other making amends the hard way. There's depth to the characters portrayed by brilliant performances and dialog. Now I can really appreciate it.

My number one favorite movie by QT. Number two overall behind Boondock Saints. This movie has so many layers, and so much symbolism it is hard to imagine how much research and work went into making it. All of Tarantino's movies are monuments to filmmaking. He tells stories better than any other director on the planet.
