    I was medically retired from the Army for chronic kidney stones. I've probably had 60 of them in the last 10 years. They're terrible. I hope you feel better soon. Also I'm a single dad with severe PTSD and your videos always inspire me to get up and cook for my kids everyday. You do more for people than you realize. Thank you.

      Do you drink lots of water with lemon? Dr Berg says stones are caused by lack of water. I hope you are better.

    You should consider uploading these podcasts to Spotify iTunes so people just interested in listening while driving at work school studying etc can listen without having UA-cam open

      Same here - I have long drives and like to listen to podcasts. Sitting in front of my iPad and just listening is not so exciting as watching Sam cooking.

      Agreed. If you start talking politics your subscribers get cut IN HALF. As a political junkie this will be a welcomed break for me. Sam, if possible stay off politics. You'd be horribly surprised at how many people will instantly dislike you if you once they hear your political opinion. I just wanna hear cooking and penis stories. 😁

    hey Sam just wanted to say I watch ur videos daily and they give me such happiness to watch and enjoy ur perfect videos. I’m from north Cali (sf area) and I came down to San Diego to pick my brother up from college for summer. I wanted to go to ur restaurant so fucking bad but we had our days filled.     20-30 minute cooking videos are my favorite way to relax at the end of the day. I love when you have new uploads.
    That being said...a long form podcast that is fun to listen to without video would be great too. I just dont want to give up the cooking videos like you have been doing...
    ALSO, do more healthy meals and snacks! (Love the unhealthy stuff though)

    Sam, I've had kidney stones (three over 20 years) but I've never had to have a stent procedure. I did, however, have a heart attack just 54 weeks ago and had a stent inserted into my LAD artery...and I was wide awake and fully coherent for the procedure (which was absolutely painless and I watched the entire procedure on the TV the Cardiologist was using). Modern medicine is absolutely fantastic.
    You made a great choice with that Pacifico. Cheers, from Canada!

    I'm about the same age as you, and at times have had to just become accustomed to medical indignities. I've had gout, gall stones, and hemorrhoids that would make a linebacker weep, but nothing compares to the shame of shitting myself constantly during one hospital stay. Even when I could hold out for a bedpan, I had to have nurses/techs clean my bottom afterward. I remember one time being rolled on my side being cleaned up, and when I rolled back, there was a medical student I had a secret crush on--the most handsome young man I'd ever seen--waiting to talk to me. Oy veh, as we say in NC!

    First of all, love your show or channel. I'm new to cooking, so questions I have are. How do you plan a meal for two, so how do you scale up or down recipes? How do you order meat at a butcher? For example the 80/20 ground beef, do you just tell the butcher 80/20 or do you have to specify what the 80/20 is? Do you get 80/20 of which cut, like Chuck or Sirloin? Could you also mention in your recipes or somewhere the temperatures you cook at, at the different stages of your dishes? Thanks for everything.

    Would love to hear you talk about behind the scenes stuff. Do you think the UA-cam cooking niche is to saturated these days? Do you think it’s important to have a regular upload schedule? Is there more money in merch or UA-cam Adsense ? Do you think it’s important to set up an LLC for your UA-cam money while you are still a small channel? Stuff like that.     Can I suggest looking for a cloudlifter (will allow you to work with the +48 phantom power on your mixer) or mabe a more capable mixer, especially if you want to make this a regular thing. The sm7b's are very gain hungry. And although it is not a problem to turn our volume way up (which is what I do now), it might be an overall improvement to consider. Love the show, keep it up Sam!

    Hey Sam and Max could you for example review the airplane food, most reviewed restaurants in Tokyo/Osaka, and the best sushi place in there because they are well known for their sushi's in Japan

    That was a fabulous podcast! I was so curious about your kidney stone, everyone needs to be educated, food, family and life, you get it all right here! Maybe drink some cranberry juice once in awhile...hmmm, cranberry mojitos, cranberry mimosas......could help. And I wonder if they are hereditary??? Will Max get them??? Poor Max....muhahahahaha!!!!!!

    1. Drink at the bar of the Park Hyatt Tokyo (the Lost in Translation bar)
    2. Steak Kentas - near the Iidabashi train station - must sit downstairs at the bar where you will barely fit and he cooks right in front of you. Meat. Onion soup. The potato cooked/served in it's own small cast iron pan are all mandatory!

    Cooking talk show guys, do the same thing but have guests occasionally. Let the guests enjoy your quirkiness, humor, and great food... So sorry to hear about the kidney stones, that sounds painful as hell... Also, have other youtubers on, it's smart and increase viewership for both you and them. You guys have great personality and have great conversations. Community is important... People want to feel like a family, you guys make me feel like I'm part of the family as I watch... I too echo the comment about, wanting to cook again.... Hey, MAX, don't worry about what people think, just enjoy yourself, you'll get more comfortable (thus more likeable, for viewership). Ignore the whiny comments, the people you want watching will enjoy you. =) Also, try the food and get the reactions of more than just dad doing one bite!

    ouch! i feel you, Sam, especially after seeing the SIZE of your trophy stent! but, just to keep things in perspective, my most traumatic moment came between April 21-24, 2002, when my husband, John, suffered a major heart attack behind the wheel of our BFD (Big Fucking Dodge). see, idk how to drive. the Dodge went right through a red light at a major intersection before i could figure out how to stop it. the ambulance didn't get to him before oxygen deprivation caused irreversible brain damage, but that wouldn't be certain for 3 days, after which an EKG could be performed. so he had emergency surgery after the seizures stopped and was afterward placed on life-support machinery. i'll spare you the rest (including my suicide attempt, which actually had its humorous moments). that was 17 years ago, on a Sunday like today.
    and thanks for the advice on how to prepare some St. Louis-style rib racks. i have two in my freezer right now! the ribs will be yummy, but the leftovers, ah ...
