Jody thank you for this review. I ended up buying a blue dial on leather strap and this watch just makes you want to stare at it all day long. Pictures do not do it justice. Thanks again for showing us more new and interesting things.

First thing I'd do is yank out that dial and mod it with a Fifty-Five Fathoms dial for the SNZH5x. Nice H-link bracelet though.
Not sure why anyone would buy this watch to do that when you could just get an Invicta pro diver and do the same thing for much less money with the same exact movement. Kinda dumb idea...
Business Monkey because the Invicta is a Rolex Submariner style case design that also has “Invicta” engraved on the side of the case and a poor bezel and limited insert options, whereas the Spinnaker has a better bezel with an insert that is both lumed and reminiscent of the original Blancpain design. The only expense to make it a quality FF mod would be a dial and handset. The result would be a much better Fifty Fathoms homage than the Invicta.
@@stevenwymor1398 fair enough, good point. But what about the Seiko SNZH57... Would be cheaper and even better I think. Minimal changes needed. Hell, I'm considering it myself now... but you're right, Invicta would require too much effort to get not as close as this would, so I stand corrected.
Business Monkey yep, I’ve done three of them myself. But the SNZH5x runs on the 7S36 so you’d still have to throw in an NH3x to get hacking and hand winding. But it’s also a great starting point. And there are a few more insert options available.
@@stevenwymor1398 true, but you can find reasonably priced Sii NH35A movements online (roughly $35-50) so I think it'd still come out cheaper than this in the end, and definitely something I'm interested in looking further into. Roughly the same size as this too, though about 1mm thicker which isn't a deal breaker. The Spinnaker has a better bracelet than the Seiko though, by far, but that's not as important to me ... I'll probably end up throwing it on a nato anyway ... hmmm, guess there's always room for one more watch lol... Also, sorry if I was a dick in my first response with the whole "dumb idea" line... it's really not a bad idea at all... Cheers...
Just got mine - a blue dial on the water resistant leather bracelet - A one hell of a nice watch and would be an extra killer with an ETA 2824 or SW200 movement. Cannot go wrong with this one!
I enjoyed that shooting with Mr. X in Sydney, I mean outdoor. To me, as a Spanish, it is so exotic (I dream with visiting the Opera House).

I have an older Fleus from last year. I basically feel the same way about it. Mine has a black dial, fits the dial design much better.
Yes t would be nice if they offered the bracelet separately to older Fleus owners when beast to upgrade. I don’t like leather. I have mine on a Barton’s Elite Silicon
I’m normally a sucker for white dials, but the black one clearly fits the watch better here.

Plus one for use of the word Girth. Pretty watch, but if I want a slight domed sapphire, good lume, 316 stainless case and an NH35, I'd just buy another Heimdallr for a smooth hundo less.
Really nice watch (well, would be with the black dial)! But why, oh why, are so many watchmakers still going so large? If it was a 40, even 41mm, I really think I'd buy it. But not for a watch that is so large, especially on my smaller wrist. Great video...always look forward to seeing your postings!
spinnaker really caught my eye with the look and price, I came across their watches at a mall and Immediately felt in love with one of their models and started following the newer brands watches.
I miss the other backdrop with the watch winders in the background😔there was something therapeutic about watching them wind as u spoke about the watch of the day.

I bought a first generation Spinnaker cheaply on eBay when new models were being introduced. Would be cool to get tipped off about where to buy close outs on old models! Agree that black dial would rock!
If you wanted a beater watch, this would be great. Highly regarded Borealis selling a similar homage for a hundred or so more. Only real problem - they need to make 40 or 41 their standard size rather than 42 and 43. 39 wouldn't go astray either.
Borealis is so much nicer.
For $300 bucks get a used Steinhart. Just scooped up my 3rd. $325 for a Ocean One Ceramic 42 . like new. Has to be. Original Gnomon receipt only dates from July 2 2019. Not even 30 days since purchased new. Deals are out there. ❤⌚👍

I nearly wrote something negative about the dial, but, for this price, and, the spec there is really nothing to moan about. Not one for me, but, real value for money.
Had the Fluess in blue. I thought it was too big. The lume was weak. Overall just unimpressed. Sold it to fund a SARY. As always great review. When are you going to review the San Martin 62 mas? I got that one recently and I really like it.

@@MrLichev It's a horrible watch and the resale on Spinnakers are garbage. I had two. The Fluess and the Bradner. The lume on both was extremely weak. Glad you like it but I will never buy one again and I would not recommended them.

Not always a big champagne dial fan but I quite like this one.

I'd much rather a company send me a product in a plastic bag or cheap, plain cardboard box, if it means I'm going to be getting the product at a much cheaper cost. I don't care about the packaging, which I'm not going to use anyway. That being said, Spinnaker does a nice job with their packaging.
I wish the center link is polished, which will make it to the next level!

Jody you've probably been asked this question dozens of times but what do you do with all the watches you receive.
The phoebos and spinnaker are great watches at a similar price. Which one would you choose? I'm leaning toward the Phoebos, simply because I can get rolex style for an everyday watch. I don't want to wear my oris aquis, speedy moonwatch, or roli blnr batman on a regular basis. What say you eh... Spinnaker or Phoebas?

Great review, excellent take on the BP, they missed a couple of opportunities to finish it off perfectly but a great interpretation non the less....I would like to have seen them drop the name and use the sail, they are well enough established that we'd all recognise it, if you going to the trouble of creating a bespoke bracelet then go the whole hog, screws not push pins, there prices are great, an extra couple of bob on the price wouldn't make a huge difference....
The textured dial is superb but not in that colour, it needs a dark contrast, black, blue or green....

I had one of these, loved the look, unfortunately the logo started to come off the the face and lots of play in the bezel. So I sent it back for repair, and 2 months later they sent it back saying they didn’t have the parts to repair it, so I had to send it back to amazon luckily I got my money back.
Glad you got your money back, that was definitely a dud as most other reviews I've seen suggest no play at all in the bezel, and very unusual about the Spinnaker logo coming off the face. Highly unlikely to happen again, as their quality control is usually very solid.
I just bought 2 for me and 3 for my granny!
You could do Lorier Neptune, Falcon or Hydra next :)

Do manufatures not watch all these videos . Most states they prefer smaller. Why do they keep making big watches. I understand some people have big wrists but from all the comments we see at least make a smaller version or meet in the middle at say 40, 41.

I have also a Fleuss the two tone Model with blue Dial and Bezel, this watch is real stunning. I Wear it on o black-red striped Nato and it is a fantastic watch for the Price. I can recommend it 100 %.

I am a big Fifty Fathoms fan too. I own the previous version, of the Fleuss, that same on leather, and I usually wear it on a rubber ( toxic magnum from toxicnatos ), but occasionally throw it on a straight end engineer ( from strapcode ). It really is a great watch. I went with the navy blue and white hands. The Seiko SNZH is another good homage for about $150. The case shape is fantastic, and the blue one ( SNZH3 ) has an amazing dial.

Just curious if you tested the crystal. I know the Spinnaker website lists the watch as having sapphire, but does it 'ring the bell' on the Diamond Selector II? I have had watches that unfortunately turned out to be the dreaded "sapphire coated" and failed to be sapphire, too late for my pocketbook.
Another great review Jody. Not a massive fan of the fifty fathoms really, yea yea there’s the history etc. but not a looker in my book. Fraid to say that this isn’t either then. There are just a ton of others that are nicer from bigger brands and micros.
Since you have had watches from Kickstarter and reviewed them in the past I would like to hear your opinion on the SOVRYGN watch and it's concept in general.

That dial is just awful. Yellow? A black dial would look nice I believe. I would like to see that. I think the watch price should have a 9000 series Miyota movement with 28,800 VPH. You can get a 50 dollar dare I say Invicta with the NH35 for 50 to 60 dollars. Nice review Jody. Spinnaker is really pumping out watches this year.

FedEx pays the import tax for you to speed up the import process, for convenience, and then of course asks you to repay them, but it's not a "FedEx Tax".

Love this channel...i unfortunately am very hard on both watches and glasses. Have broken/lost over 30 pairs of sunglasses and prescrip glasses and managed to destroy countless watches. I have come to buy my sunglasses as Wall mart (sporting good section) UV fishing style for $4 each!!. ( 3-4 pairs at a time)
Watching this channel i have decided on a few $80 good looking Chinese models that when i eventually break them will not cause me pain a grief as did my early 80's high school Seiko grad gift, a vintage Hamilton that the strap/pin popped while my arm was out the window and was left somewhere on the Pennsylvania turnpike. I turned to $15 Armatron's but at times one wants something a bit more elegant, professional, and stylish so it looks like Cadisen and Loreo are targets here. In my situation and history with watches, even $500 for watch is just a costly accident waiting to occur.
