I use the loblaws or superstore online grocery orders. With mobility issues it makes it so easy. Order online. Show up, park in the designated spot, call the number on the sign and they come put it in your car. I also love that you can check off that you have your own bags and they come get them and you don't end up with a million plastic bags! I hate chopping onions and don't eat them raw so i buy the no name frozen diced onions and they work like a charm and never go bad since they are kept in the freezer.
I know this isn’t relevant to this specific video, but I love that u don’t force lifestyle and eating habits onto us viewers 💐🎁 sending my love from South Africa ❤️❤️
I really do feel that food is unique to each body and lifestyle and you need to listen to how you feel and eat what works and dont eat what doesnt. There is no one fits all diet out there.
Great point! It is so refreshing...as a dietitian it's so frustrating hearing everyone spout their food beliefs and often it is based on opinion. I love this channel!!
OMG... all I can concentrate on is how dull your knife is. 😂 My knives used to be the same and I didn't even realize until a neighbor sharpened them for me. Now cutting veggies is effortless. Find someone to sharpen yours, you won't regret it!
I‘ve started with meal prepping just recently and i‘m absolutely a fan of it. It saves me so much time during the week. These are so great tips and i‘m definitely going to try it out.
I did the onion for years, with different technique, I half fried the onion 1st then i soaked the onion or garlic in glass jar with vegetable oil to avoid bacteria 👍👍👍 simple & easy for day to day cooking
I love this video! It is one of my favorite. Even though I am probably twice your age, you are a true inspiration and I get so much value from your wisdom. It is a joy to see your passion for what you do. Keep up the great work.
I've been using Gateway for over 8years and love it. Especially when I have a canned or frozen food haul. Sand then send you e-mails for specials and flyers. Would recommend. Really good for days that are too hot or too cold to venture out. And for those of us without cars they deliver to your door on a time or day or your choosing available seven days a week.
Thanks for reminding me. I have a ton of onions. I'm going to prep them and put them tomorrow and freeze them. I use ziploc snack baggies for them. They're really cheap so I don't mind tossing them after or I reuse for more onions later. The small ziplocs are perfect for a serving of onions. I'm doing MFP now so I'll have to measure them, too and have each bag be like 1 cup or whatever.
I do delivery groceries too. It has really helped me save time and money. I suppose the potential is there to shop really badly in the moment but I work on my list all week and review things as I go. If I make an impulse choice then I have time to reconsider. I try to be esp disciplined when I am finalizing my order. I also have started a fav list of all the stuff I buy for easy reference. Each week I start there to build my list based on what ran out and what's on sale. I sometimes list different brands or sizes so I can compare the deals. Bigger families can save money on this deal. I pay 10 dollars for delivery and I am fine with that but at my store if you go over $125 they deliver free. I think that's a pretty reasonable amount for most fam to spend on groceries...esp easy of you get your toiletries and household goods in the same order.
We've cut our grocery bill by a lot by online groc shopping (we pick up). I make better choices by planning, but mostly by avoiding impulse shopping. Love the herb cube tip!
I really like these ideas! I too drink lemon water every morning, and I'm definitely going to do the lemon quarter trick! If you wanted to do oil-free, could you freeze veggie broth over the fresh herbs instead of olive oil?
Great ideas, love the ice cube hack... I used a small half holder from Tupperware and it's made to store half of lemons , limes, onions, ....whatever. Doing this for YEARS, not dead yet. I also have one from Pampered Chef....they are beautiful, still fresh, and saves money. :)
Omg! I’m so in love with your non-plastic kitchen ustensils!! Thanks to this video, i’ve checked your site!! I’m in looooooveeee ❤️❤️❤️ those silicone bags are the best thing ever! I’m a student and can’t afford it yet, but i”ll put money aside !! Great quality things! ❤️
Here's a green smoothie recipe I found that works for busy mornings as the main is made ahead of time all you do is add cubres to blender with liquid of choice then pour and go. I used this again to start my smoothies for 7dsy challenge. Power Smoothie Disks Makes 4 servings to be used individually
.. Sorry let's try this recipe again 3 cups chapped Spinach (or Kale) 1 cup chopped cucumber 1 cup chopped pineapple (canned works fine reserve juice for making smoothie) 3/4 cups coconut water 4 slices peeled ginger Pinch tumeric Puree all ingredients in blender or food processor. Divide among 12 muffin cups Freeze until firm, about 6 hours. Store Disks in airtight container in freezer. For 1 smoothie blend 3 disks with 3/4 cups coconut water. Note: you can use the reserved pineapple juice, other fruit juice or liquid if choice to make the smoothie in morning. I find this delicious, wuich and easy. Great meal prep for week.
I used to love doing smoothie cubes too so much easier than smoothie bad too imo. I dont do them anymore since I sahm and it's not s big deal to make them
The ice cube thing is a great idea! But are fresh herbs and lemon juice neccessary? Because I wish to use if for my vegetable soup so just onions garlic chillies and olive oil would that be ok as it is or fo I still need to add the lemon juice to make it last longer or something?
I like that grain tip. When you soak the rice (my fav grain is barley by the way) do you then pour off that water and replace with new or use the soaking water to cook with?
@@HealthNutNutrition I loved the herb ice cubes and the Cuisinart chopped onions and garlic! Such a great idea. Plus the smoothie pouches. I won't those puches! So pretty much all of them ;)
I actually mince garlic add a bit of oil to it and use it for weeks on end not just for the week prep I use garlic a lot and it means my hands don't always smell of garlic.. I use desposable gloves when i make them 4/5 heads or more at a time
Great tips! I've been trying to meal prep more this year, focusing on breakfast lately. Off to make some over night oats. Gonna have to check the shop for some cute mason jars 🙂
I have a tip for the soaked grains : first rinse them, than add to a bowl with the amount of water you would cook with, let sit overnight and when ready to cook just throw it with the water . Firstly in that way there is less loss of vitamins, and secondly it tastes much better!
Wowww that was brilliant 🤩especially smoothie packs n herb infused ice cubes.but I am wondering is frozen oil good for your health???and does freezing smoothie ingredients lower it’s nutritional value????
It isn't a good idea to chop fruit and vegetables ahead, let alone store it in the freezer. You lose vitamins. Making a smoothie isn't a good idea either :D Again, you lose vitamins due to oxidation and then you digest the sugars to fast (not good for the liver), chewing is healthier. Forget smoothie, eat an apple.
Freeze the ingredients for smoothies in normal sized mason jars. The blade assembly for most blenders will screw on directly. Cooler and faster smoothies.
thank you for the inspiration :) I will definitely try these!! as my sister and I are always hungry and it takes a lot of time throughout the week to prep the food I will give it a try! loved the video :)
I order bulk food online but NEVER fresh fruit or veg from supermarket. They always give you the least fresh items. I have a local milk delivery company (glass bottles to your door) they supply fresh local fruit and veg. Amazing. Love the hacks!!!!
Just a small tip for the garlic: Try removing that green thingy (germ?) from the middle of the clove. You probably have to cut it in half first. It makes it so much easier for the stomach to digest.
Love these tips! JUICING LEMONS: I actually threw out my juice reamer. I now just cut my lemons into 5 pieces (4 sides and 1 core) and then pop on a pair of kitchen gloves and squeeze them into a vessel using my fingers and thumbs to get all the juice out of each crevice. It works better, takes and no extra room.
Im looking to purchase the ceramic knives but noticed it says not to use them on hard foods. Im assuming that means things like sweet potatoes, but what do you use for those hard foods you can't use the ceramic knives on?
