That's wonderful to hear! I follow HDWarrior's blog and when I bought my NX70 in February, I considered the XF100 and that's how I found the information. I went with the NX70 as 1. I already had a SONY with the same battery 2. Stuck with Sony for color matching 3. CF cards are expensive here in Japan. I quite envy you having the XF100!! I hope you enjoy it and entertain us with it!! Great channel you have - very helpful and British!!! Anyway, just thought you'd appreciate the info.

Yes, except for those really blurred depth of field shots or low light.
It is now, but less compressed on the Vimeo version.

Great video Dave. I much prefer this style of your camera tests because we get to hear more sound quality from the built in mics instead of just hearing music in the background. You should make most future test footage videos like this.

Thanks for explaining a lot on your videos. Just got one and want to use it on an outdoor interview next week, Trying to learn as much as I can, coming from miniDv Canon cameras. They still work great but this seems to have so much more.

pretty good audio quality for the built in mic! I think it should have a good quality mic definitely for the price! the price seems reasonable for that awesome lookig pot camcorder!
If you haven't already, take a look at the HDWarrior blog by Phillip Johnston for some very useful tips on setting the XF100. Although not noticeable in this video, it seems that the XF100 is prone to noise in some circumstances, but this is easily remedied by changing the settings. I hope you'll find this useful.

are you still using the canon XF for your videos or are you now using the canon 5D. Can you interchange the lenses on the XF or are you stuck with the supplied lens? Keep up the great vids. Would like to see some of your commercial work

You mention you can record uncompressed to an external recorder with the xf100. Can you elaborate on that a bit as I'm getting one of these and would be interested in any external recorder you would recommend.

Do you think that this Canon XF100 can replace your DSLR ?
I have had the pleasure of using most of Canons Broadcast Camera like the XF 300 and 305 but the HF 100 is not considered as a proper professional Camera by most Sky and BBC cameamen. Because it's not citified by the BBC. The hole of the Media industry goes off what the BBC consider as Pro broadcast camera. The BBC test all new broadcast equipment before citifiying it for the rest of the industry.However the Canon XF 300 is BBC citified and is used on BBC News for creating news stores.
what render settings do you use for the xf100 settings. I'm recording 1080 50mbps, editing in premiere and rendering to 1080 h.264 but the qualities horrible after uploading to youtube. It plays fine on my computer but looks rubbish on youtube.

I don't see how this camera is worth 2000£, your MARK III looked much better. Great audio though.
why not just use 5d3... records up to 90mbps internal. I am sure the magic lantern people will hack the HDMI on it.
There are a lot of artifacts and noise on the videos on youtube from this model @ full screen and HD...A lot of consumer grade camcorders are better than this model.
Problem is you're going to see what it is really like on UA-cam, not at 50 Mb/sec
