I'm also a camcorder fan and have built a combined audience of almost half a million subscribers across two channels on UA-cam filming with them. I started with a Panasonic MX400 (MiniDV, SD) then went to a Sony HD camcorder and presently use a Panasonic HC-X1500. The convenience of not having to worry about carrying a bag of lenses, filters, batteries and other gear very much outweighs the limitations of a small sensor, for me at least. Thanks Marcus, I have the Canon Vixia GX10. That camcorder is one of the few Canon camcorders that can record 4k/60p. The GX10 is the same camcorder as the Canon FX400 and FX405 but without the Mic/Top Handle Grip XLR. My Canon Vixia GX10 has the same menu as G70. The main complaint about the GX10 is that the Canon factory setting make the Video quality dull and lifeless. I just tried your setting and used CP6 and it makes a big difference!, the video is not dull and lifeless any more. Thank you Marcus!
I'm a big fan of camcorders. I have a Canon and Panasonic. Nothing beats the ease of use. Thank you for sharing the settings. This camcorder has been on my radar for a long time. The G70 and G50 are so similar. Looking forward to more videos about camcorders.
I have both a Panasonic camcorder and the FZ300. Like the camcorders, the FZ300 has the 1/2.3" sensor. However, it also has a LOT more customizable settings. It's still my main video camera, 7 years after I bought it. Easily the best investment I've made in photography. Nice pictures, too!
I used an Fz150 for over ten years before I upgraded to MFT. As soon as Markus mentioned those G70 specs I thought its the same as FZ300 and probably twice the price despite being many years later. I wish Panasonic would update it but its still a standout in many ways. Even armed with a GX8 and a number of lenses that cover the full 20-600 range, I still miss the convenience of that zoom lever.
WOW! This is just what I needed. I had no idea how to get this setting for my G50. I was ready to put tis camera on the shelf, but thanks to you and your knowledge, I'll be using it for all of my UA-cam and personal video. My you be blessed over and over for your sharing knowledge.❤
I've had this camcorder for a couple of months and love it, but I didn't know how to do all of these settings until you showed me. Thanks so much -- I liked and subscribed as payback!
Well done Markus, another Gem from someone who actually knows what they are talking about and makes sense. I have the HF S 50 which is very similar, up until your video I was under the impression from the manual you needed the remote controller to access this Gem but not so! I have copied your suggested settings into my camera and boy what a difference, blue skies look beautiful and the whole image has a better look! Thanks so much. A great future video could be showing the differences between each setting but probably too much to ask!🤣
Just got my G70! Love it. And your color profile is awesome! Gotta flip the switch next to the zoom to manual first or CP function will be greyed out and you cant use it! Took me some googling to figure that out. I am a beginner!
Thanks Mr. Markus for the camcorder episode. Have always been a huge fan of camcorders. I even used my Sony V5000 on several broadcast program's when the Norelco three-gun cameras went belly up. Everyone in the control booth were scrambling around and said it wouldn't work... but surprise it not only worked but looked stunning.
Marcus, you really are a good person. I really appreciate your youtube videos, always happy to see when you have a new one uploaded. It somehow calms me down when I look at it. Thank you ! greetings from Belgium
I'm still shooting with a Vixia HF-S10 from 2009. 1/2.3 sensor that outputs a beautiful 1920x1080 picture. And, it pairs well with my C100 MKII. :-) Pocket camera is Sony HX99 that I got for $25 at an estate sale!! Love the ease, simplicity and picture output of these cameras.
I just managed to set the custom profile as you suggested in the vlog description :-) I recently bought a HF G70 as second hand and I'm eager to try it out! The only concern I have is that it's big! Nowadays I'm used to GoPro:s that are so much smaller and handy to bring everywhere. But I do understand it's limitation compared to HF G70, i.e. lack of zoom and much smaller lens.
I know you probably wouldn't take the deal, but these camera companies should really hire you to explain all the functions and features of their gear. Thank you for putting out these videos Markus.
does this canon camera have focus peaking/zebra stripes? i usually eyeball it anyway, but it's a useful feature that I've noticed is missing from a lot of canon cameras.
Happy New Year Markus as always a great video to show people its not all these crazy mirrorless, cinema cameras that a large portions of people do not need in order to capture and tell a story......keep the videos coming in 2024
I always use my Panasonic 4k camcorder for recording concerts. I don't stand at the very front of the stage, which gives more options and overview. The sound is better and the telelens takes close-ups. Indeed, I can film for hours without overheating. Thanks for the explanation with the settings.
I just got my R8 a few days ago. It's my only camera (well besides my smartphone) and I already love it. My choice was between the R8 and VIXIA HF G70. I still might get the VIXIA HF G70 also simply for the fun factor and ease of use. Thanks, Marcus, for your camera tech insights and the joy of using what we have to its fullest potential.
Thanks a lot for this video. I am really on the shelf between the G70 and something more compact for a stationary streaming set up. I love the ease of use and fun factor of camcorder. I used to have one and it´s great to bring on travels. I also consider the Sony RX100 but I am curious about it´s performance for long streaming sessions. Would you shed some light on this?
Thanks I appreciate this@@MarkusPix. They are brilliant suggestions. Perhaps I will go for the cheaper camcorder and get a small camera for photos too.
Thanks for the advice! 🤩I looked at that video and after a lot of consideration I actually found a Sony AX33 second hand for $260 that I´m very excited to play with @@MarkusPix 😁
Thanks so much for making this video. Can you do a follow up explaining pedestal, gamma, etc so we can make our own custom profiles? Would love that. Love your videos. You’re very helpful and practical and that’s missing in imagery lately.
Thanks so much Markus, I have the HF G60 with 1 inch sensor, the CP3 is the C-LOG option in the G60, it lets you apply the LUTs from the official Canon Website, you can play with those in your editing program. But I'll input the settings you're sharing. Thank you so much! The G60 has an story own its own because even though Canon applied its "crippling hammer" extensively, limiting a number of things in the hardware, there are a number of other things that made this model a risk to their upper level prosumer or pro bodies, in my opinion. That's probably why they came back with the smaller sensor in the G70.
What are the upper level things you speak of? They disontinued the G60 because the XA70 came out alongside the G70 but with a 1". I wonder how it compares with the G60 and if there is any noticeable difference.
@@MarkusPix I bet that the G60 has the same sensor than the XA70, it's a 1 inch as well. The G60 has the same focal length 25-382 mm, same aperture f/2.6-4.5 (9 blades) and the in-body ND filters. Those are the upper level parts that I was referring to. Then, the XA70 has other characteristics not present in the G60, like XLR handle, UVC livestreaming, USB-C connection, XF-AVC capable (G60 is 4k but MP4 only).
The XA70 probably has a nice OLED screen that the HF-G60 doesn't have. I have an HF-G60 and I believe it probably produces identical image quality to the XA70. Of course the HF-G60 is way cheaper but hard to get ahold of now. Cool thing is you can choose log (instead of Neutral or Wide DR) in the custom profile and manipulate black and add saturation to it to make it look like graded log
Gotta say your enthusiasm is infectious ! Recently picked up the XA70 released about the same time, have to see if the CP settings will let you do the same thing & give it a try. Thanks !
I picked up the HF G50 because my Canon APS camera will not do 4K for more than a few minutes, most Canon digital cameras have the adjustable white balance along with a secondary feature, the color shift grid which made it very nice to get the right color that I wanted; It was a great discovery but I failed to find that color shift grid on the HF G50, I am getting too much yellow hue and not able to balance out my video work with the right amount of green hue color shift like the APS cameras have, another online search two and half years after I got the HF G50 now I stumble across your video, and check to see if the HF G50 has the CP function, and it does, now to learn how to use it and hope to get the yellow warm hue to balance with some green, now to copy your information and see what works. The HF G50 is impressive out doors, to create that Kodachrome look to video recording. The camcorder has a very good lens and zoom, the focus works like a charm close up and in panoramas.[]
@@bonjen1 At the four minute mark he explains how to turn on the CP function, the go to the three minute mark in the video as he explains how to get to the CP function and begin to set it up.
Thank you for the settings. I'll set mine up when it gets here tomorrow. Shooting a band concert next week; this will be the solo focus cam while the Canon 90D handles the Wide shot.
Loved this video. I have the G50 and only use it on auto. Wonder if these settings work on auto? Would love a quick answer of YES or NO. Thank you Markus.
I also have a Pocket 3 and just love it, but the fact it has no zoom is killing me. In your opinion, how is the picture quality of your Canon, compared to the pocket 3? And how does the stabilization compare? To me, the Pocket 3 has the best picture quality and stabilization I've ever seen!!!!
Oh wow! You are so right about that blue hue one gets with the Canon handicam. I’m going to try these settings on my G10 - assuming it has Custom Profiles available! Thank you so much Markus.
I have another question. When you fly with your Godox AD600's do you remove the batteries and include them in your carry-on stuff? I may have a photo shoot in French Polynesia in February so I am looking at your travel related videos to help me prepare.
I really hoped these settings help me as I have just got the camera and I’m struggling to get the best footage from it. Everything is coming out muddy with no sharpness to it . first time and new to cameras so all the help would be great 👍
Yes the XA70 came out at the same time, same body, but for double the price, I don't think is is much visible difference in the footage. Now if Canon came out with an APSC sensor in this body size...
Please do one for Canon's Picture Profile, I have been working around with it and you can get AMAZING jpgs out of camera. I would love to see you shooting photos of Cara with different picture styles. Would it be too much if you try to simulate film? Hahahaha wish wish wish!
Markus I really hope you read this. Any chance you could do the same with your c100 mkii? I have the me200s-sh and want a profile like this that just works.
@@MarkusPix Yes, G70, but luckily I talked to a camera shop guy who said just go to Tools and hit reset, and it worked! I input all your suggested settings, and you are right! What a difference! I need more time to record some stuff in different scenarios, but I am so glad my Google search took me to this video. Thank you for sharing your expertise and insight about this camcorder! Manuals don't do it for me, but videos like yours do wonders! Thanks! :)
Muchas gracias markus, llevaba mucho tiempo buscando un video para configurar mi Canon Vixia G70 ahora los colores se ven vivos y vibrantes. Saludos desde Chile
Again, a great video, with awesome info. Funny, it shoot everything with a Sony AX700, and the area I struggle with is the picture profiles, especially in a low light (concert) setting. Thanks for the video!
Great information! I used your settings and improved my footage dramatically! One question. I shoot a lot of videos outside in low light conditions. Is there something I can change to improve my footage in low light? Thanks!
Thanks for the video, I changed the setting and colour looks great. I do have a question I'm getting grainy looking video. Shooting at 24 or 30fps any ideas what it might be. It looks like crap honestly. F5.6 ND 1/8 0db...It's like everything is shaking/shimmering with grain. I do films so not an amature but can't figure this one out...
How about Sony camcorders? Do they have luts, tweeks etc to make it look like canon? Sony camcorders favour blue 💙 and violet color more while canon yellow 💛 and orange 🧡
@@MarkusPix Awesome. I have sony minidv camcorder that still works. Even can make still pictures on the pro duo memory card 🖼️ with excellent sharpness and focus. But have tendency to push blue 💙 color more. I dig into the settings but so far can't fix the problem. It turned out that camcorder had lot more features than i thought. Even interval picture 🖼️ shooting and what not. In my mind sony are far more durable than the other brands.
Sir, your enthusiasm for camcorders and small body cameras has really inspired me. I'm aiming for a Sony FDR-AX700, saving up the coins for that dream of a camcorder. I can wait anyways, maybe I get lucky and someone sells it 2nd hand with some scuffings. 😁👌 Much love from me here in my computer seat. Looking forward to your comparison vid!
Hey Marcus, thanks for the video! My wive and I use the Canon XA50 (1") and we love it! The Canon model series is one of the best for run`n`shoot production. I will save your CP on my cam next to my own and will give it a trie some time! Greetings from a German Expat living in Greece ;)
Is this a good Camera? Or is the Sony FDR-AX700 better? I cant find many reviews for the cannon but i like how compact it is and i like the eye piece/view finder.
Very surprised in the visual improvements ... has no idea what to do with my XA50, I was ok with factory settings, tried C3 log w/luts (Not Bad) adds extra work ... nothing made me as impressed as these MarkusPix adjustments for Run N' Gun with my Canon ... I shot a competition today with MarcusPix settings, which I had no idea I could make within the camera, really interesting to learn that as it is my first camera allowing for setting changes ... Yo MarkusPix ... Thank you ... seriously, I saved up for this XA50 and had been with thoughts I should have saved more for something else like a Sony Z90 ... I actually was so excited when I saw the results from this Canon ... clear, crisp, bright and very usable video ... wow ... I went from using my AX53 more often to wanting to use the Canon now ... after considering dumping the Canon ... well, Canon really should Thank You and I am. Peace MarkusPix. ✌
I have the HF-G50 and i love mine.I love the big zoom rocker for shooting racing . it does slo mo great and time laps good too.a woman i used to talk to on line named nasty byte used only cannons shooting underground rock videos because they always had the lowest lux level for shooting in low light.
Thanks for all the wonderful videos. I have a question; what's better to capture video, a dedicated camcorder or a high quality DSLR. Why would you choose to use one over the other? Thank you.
The "DSLR" mirrorless delivers a higher quality image and optional blurry background and oftentimes can shoot better in low light situations. A camcorder is much easier and convenient to use, instant on- just flip open the screen and push record that's it, no lenses need to be switched, (just zoom in or out), they can run all day without overheating and if its for UA-cam, the quality is good enough anyway.
Just purchased a Sony FDR-AX700/B (I don't know what the "/B" means). Going to use it for studio and outdoor video B-Roll. My Sony NEX-VG20 and Sony NEX-VG30 will my number 1 and 2 studio cameras and the AX700 will be my number 3 studio cam. Decided to go all camcorder because of you my friend.... 🙂
I just purchased a Canon Vixia HF G70 and i'm not able to setup custom profiles. When i try to select the CP Function, it's just dark and will not allow me to turn it on or off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Great video Marcus and I agree 1000% regarding the usability of camcorders. I’ve been using my XA20 and XA50 for years on corporate videos, events, live streaming etc and a few colleagues have bought one when they’ve seen how easy and convenient they are to use. I also have a 10 bit 422 log Mirrorless camera for jobs that need that but 8 times out of 10 I reach for the camcorder if I can. For an 8 bit 420 camera I find the image out of the XA50 looks great and only needs a minor tweak here and there (and sometimes some noise reduction) but I am keen to try our your settings as the menu on the HF G70 looks to be pretty much identical.
I considered long time G70 but had no money for it. Got Pocket 3 CC when released. I love camcorders anyways. But Pocket 3 on the table and it tracks automatically my child playing it just works too easily and I don't have to be a camera man. Can be father at that time. Don't know how it does it but it just keeps following even if the head changes a lot of positions and walking around the room.
Just got my G70, no blue. Great out of the box color, outside and in... My hf r800 great color out of the box. Maybe Canon saw your video of why you don't use canon camera's before they shipped the G70 to you...
I have a Panasonic video cam. 1080p. Has good video and a crazy zoom. I still use it sometime. No phone camera has 40 or 50 optical.and 400 digital zoom
The "hot shoe" that you are mentioning is actually a cold shoe, the thing also has a Canon's proprietary hot shoe that you can use in that body as well.
My G70, while in a studio, with studio lighting, focused on me or an item, sitting at a table, focus hunts nonstop. Goes in and out of focus, the whole time. I have to watch a monitor, and wait for it to be back in focus, speak..... watch it go out, wait.... repeat. Nothing I've have done, has helped. Not even all new lights, a new desk, and newly painted walls. Same thing. I wonder if any solution. I'm ready to sell it.
@@MarkusPix Thanks, just seeing this reply now, as I'm still on the hunt for a solution. I'll have it tack sharp, zoomed up on an Item. Very little of anything else in the shot, and it will sit there and go in and out. Same on ME, or a printer. Say I'm showing how to attach a strap, to a mask. And it's just my hands, and the mask in the shot. It creeps in and out, over and over. Manual is fine, but, sometimes I have to move a little, and there is nobody to fix the focus. I "TOUCH focus" several times a shot. It's maddening. cause I have to keep going back and forth every few moments.
Thank you for a good video! But one question remains: What's the difference between "Vixia" and "Legria"? Here in Germany only "Legria"s are sold; why? Thanks in advance from Germany Alf
Fabulous question! Canon's Vixia and Legria camcorder lines are essentially the same products marketed under different names in various regions. The Vixia series is sold in North America, while the Legria series is available in Europe, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific regions. Vixia are 30p NTSC while Legria are 25p PAL.
@@MarkusPix Thanks, Markus, for your elaborate explanation! But this brings up another question (sorry!): Does that have any consequences in practice? I mean, can one use a "Vixia" in - for example - Germany or vice versa, a "Legria" in the States? I'm asking this, because friends of mine are going to move house from one region to the other.
The only problem you would have is if you filmed indoors with house lighting, you'd probably get banding, in which case use battery powered lights. Here I show a video I did in Europe with my American camera ua-cam.com/video/FLQMvDfERrs/v-deo.html
Just got the G70 and tried to follow your directions but the CP Function menu is grayed out and I can't find a way to turn it on and move past that step. Suggestions?
Hey Markus. I'm on the fence between Canon XA75 and Sony AX700. Which one will you recommend? My main use is shooting a quality family video and travel video mix with a talking head. Thanks!
The G70 1/2.3 sensor might not seem good but with proper color profiles and settings you can make it work. This is NOT a "straight out of the box" camera, but it has everything you need built in to fix it.
I have the Vixia HF G70 and would like help on night settings. I tried M mode and changed the Aperture to f2.8, Shutter speed to 1/50 for 24fps, used Manual focus, and set the K to to 2800. When shooting the Aurora Borealis I just had a black image. I used the Low Light setting under the M mode. I did get an image using that, but it did not look like much. Tried Low Light M mode with Manual focus and still had no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Thanks for this video! I believe the Vixia HF G60 had the 1-inch sensor, but the G70 has USB-C for new European Market standards which makes things a lot more convenient... I'm waffling between buying a used G60 vs. new G70 to be master Camera with my 3 GF10's and the Smaller R82...
I would go for a used G60 THB. The bigger chip probably makes it a bit more forgiving in low light conditions. I have one and I love it. But I can't compare as I don't have a G70. The Canon G-range numbering not always made sense to me. Looks like there only is the 70 now? Maybe Canon will focus more on the XF range in the future?
@@bartbuerman The G60 1" sensor does make a big difference with low light, as I have seen some test videos comparing them... I would buy it in a heart beat if I could get it new, but if you want one now, you are paying a premium for a used camera... so you choose well as your camera!
The 1500 has the smallest sensor of the 3. Its sharp but color is sorely lacking. I gave mine away in the Christmas giveaway. You can see the G70 featured in this video ua-cam.com/video/LhAzKXVSa78/v-deo.html and the G60 featured in this video ua-cam.com/video/mURiF_KPmEs/v-deo.html
Hi Marcus, what tripod head you recommend with Camcorder, i had sony ax 53 camcorder and tried with differet heads. Some video fluid heads which are smooth take a lot of force to pan while some others give jerk while panning around on each movement. I appreciate if you made one video on this.
After returning to watch multiple videos of yours, I’m officially sold on your channel and happy to be a new subscriber!! Currently, I’m torn between the G70, 981K, and WXF1 to record my son’s MLS soccer games. If you have a chance to give me your recommendation, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks and keep up the great work!!
Hands down the VX981 for me. Its half the size and weight of the G70 and I like the colors and look more, its easier and more fun to use. The WXF1 is similar but has a smaller sensor.
@@MarkusPixThanks for the reply!! I’ll snag the 981K and call it a day. You rock!! One more quick question, will it be safe to use the 981K in the rain as long as it’s under an umbrella? Some of my son’s soccer games get messy weather wise, so the lack of weatherproofing on most camcorders has always been concerning for me. That’s why I was leaning hard towards a high end mirrorless camera before watching your videos.

Nowadays I'm used to GoPro:s that are so much smaller and handy to bring everywhere. But I do understand it's limitation compared to HF G70, i.e. lack of zoom and much smaller lens.
Thanks, Markus! My high school students love this camera and we’re looking to purchase a couple more. This will greatly help production
Yes it has those! 😊
Happy New Year Markus as always a great video to show people its not all these crazy mirrorless, cinema cameras that a large portions of people do not need in order to capture and tell a story......keep the videos coming in 2024
I would like to see you recommend the best custom profiles or settings for a Canon Vixia HF R800 camcorder in low light. ☺️
Only thing you can do with that little thing is use more light
I always use my Panasonic 4k camcorder for recording concerts. I don't stand at the very front of the stage, which gives more options and overview. The sound is better and the telelens takes close-ups. Indeed, I can film for hours without overheating. Thanks for the explanation with the settings.
I never really cared about the camcorders until I saw your videos. This is the second one so far. And camcorders are more fun than I thought! 😮
Can we get a similar video for ZV-e10 in the future?
I just got my R8 a few days ago. It's my only camera (well besides my smartphone) and I already love it. My choice was between the R8 and VIXIA HF G70. I still might get the VIXIA HF G70 also simply for the fun factor and ease of use. Thanks, Marcus, for your camera tech insights and the joy of using what we have to its fullest potential.
The R8 is even more fun. Its so small and light and feels great in the hand. Enjoy it!
If you just want something small, cheaper and easy to use, then maybe one of these ua-cam.com/video/KmZH3rGjjlQ/v-deo.html
Sorry for asking
But can you do the same for the Sony AX700 and the Sony A6300 ? Thanks
Thanks !
Yes but they will be slightly different. See this coming Sunday's video
@@MarkusPix menu's a bit different, still was able to do it, looks good ! I will be checkin' Sunday to see what you got cookin' !
Great video man! I love your energy, the world needs more people as positive and friendly as you
I picked up the HF G50 because my Canon APS camera will not do 4K for more than a few minutes, most Canon digital cameras have the adjustable white balance along with a secondary feature, the color shift grid which made it very nice to get the right color that I wanted; It was a great discovery but I failed to find that color shift grid on the HF G50, I am getting too much yellow hue and not able to balance out my video work with the right amount of green hue color shift like the APS cameras have, another online search two and half years after I got the HF G50 now I stumble across your video, and check to see if the HF G50 has the CP function, and it does, now to learn how to use it and hope to get the yellow warm hue to balance with some green, now to copy your information and see what works. The HF G50 is impressive out doors, to create that Kodachrome look to video recording. The camcorder has a very good lens and zoom, the focus works like a charm close up and in panoramas.[]
Hi
Can you tell me where is the CP function on the HF G50, I can't find it, Thank you
@@bonjen1 At the four minute mark he explains how to turn on the CP function, the go to the three minute mark in the video as he explains how to get to the CP function and begin to set it up.
If you can do custom settings for the Canon XA50 it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Should be almost the same
OMG I just used your settings on my new XA70. It looks so much better. Love your stuff brother. Thanks Greg
Thank you for the settings. I'll set mine up when it gets here tomorrow. Shooting a band concert next week; this will be the solo focus cam while the Canon 90D handles the Wide shot.
Really good info videos Markus. Taught me a lot , especially about the story being most important, not the camera. Thank you so much .
Loved this video. I have the G50 and only use it on auto. Wonder if these settings work on auto? Would love a quick answer of YES or NO. Thank you Markus.
no
I also have a Pocket 3 and just love it, but the fact it has no zoom is killing me.
Thank you Marcus, but what about Sony AX43? Can we do something about the colors from that camcorder ?
Mahalo for sharing! Recently purchased this camcorder and used your settings. Such a big color difference. Aloha from Maui!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have another question. When you fly with your Godox AD600's do you remove the batteries and include them in your carry-on stuff? I may have a photo shoot in French Polynesia in February so I am looking at your travel related videos to help me prepare.
Batteries must be in carry ons
Thank you 😊
I really hoped these settings help me as I have just got the camera and I’m struggling to get the best footage from it. Everything is coming out muddy with no sharpness to it . first time and new to cameras so all the help would be great 👍
Canon does actually make camcorders with 1 inch sensor in the size of the G70, pretty cool actually.
This profile works with the C100 ii also 😊
@@MarkusPix it's like.... A celebrity texted me 😂👍 thank you Markus. 🏴
Uh-oh, now I can't get get to CP function at all because it is grayed out, whether I'm in manual or Auto. What happened?
Is it a G70? What mode are you in? What video format is chosen?
@@MarkusPix Yes, G70, but luckily I talked to a camera shop guy who said just go to Tools and hit reset, and it worked! I input all your suggested settings, and you are right! What a difference! I need more time to record some stuff in different scenarios, but I am so glad my Google search took me to this video. Thank you for sharing your expertise and insight about this camcorder! Manuals don't do it for me, but videos like yours do wonders! Thanks! :)
Thanks, Marcus. Looking to purchase camcorder with either Canon EF-S or M43 interchangeable lens mount.
Any suggestions?
A lot more lens options with M43
Muchas gracias markus, llevaba mucho tiempo buscando un video para configurar mi Canon Vixia G70 ahora los colores se ven vivos y vibrantes. Saludos desde Chile
Again, a great video, with awesome info.
Funny, it shoot everything with a Sony AX700, and the area I struggle with is the picture profiles, especially in a low light (concert) setting.
Thanks for the video!
Thank you very much for your Videos. Can you tell me if I can use this settings for the canon legria hf g70? Greetings
Is there a setting on this camera to display clip numbers on the viewfinder?
Great information! I used your settings and improved my footage dramatically! One question. I shoot a lot of videos outside in low light conditions. Is there something I can change to improve my footage in low light? Thanks!
Yes, more lights
I actually film wild animals so I can’t use any lights. I thought maybe there was a setting to be able to capture more light. Thanks.
There are 1" sensor camcorders out there as well. Have you tried those?

I love your videos man! I subscribed a long time ago. Your reviews are really great!
Thanks Markus, super useful as always. Is it possible to create a Black and White profile? Thanks!
Thank you i never even dealt with this before for my xa-40 worked great !
You missed the one thing that usually causes grain- ISO
Is that not what 0bd is?
Maybe its the ND messing it up
I hope it’s not that cause it would render this camcorder useless. I’ll keep digging around. Thanks so much for the reply.
@@MarkusPix notei grande diferença com os filtros ND no atutomatico
In other words, how do you pick CP2 to shoot with after you're done with the custom profile settings? Do you go to auto or manual? Then what?
Will you do a video on your custom Sony camcorder AX43 settings next please?
How about Sony camcorders? Do they have luts, tweeks etc to make it look like canon? Sony camcorders favour blue 💙 and violet color more while canon yellow 💛 and orange 🧡
yes
@@MarkusPix Awesome. I have sony minidv camcorder that still works. Even can make still pictures on the pro duo memory card 🖼️ with excellent sharpness and focus. But have tendency to push blue 💙 color more. I dig into the settings but so far can't fix the problem. It turned out that camcorder had lot more features than i thought. Even interval picture 🖼️ shooting and what not. In my mind sony are far more durable than the other brands.
Great advice! The picture is really better with your settings!
Much love from me here in my computer seat. Looking forward to your comparison vid!
Hey Marcus, thanks for the video!
My wive and I use the Canon XA50 (1") and we love it! The Canon model series is one of the best for run`n`shoot production.
I will save your CP on my cam next to my own and will give it a trie some time!

@@MarkusPix Ahh, you are so right! I corrected it 😊
Is this a good Camera? Or is the Sony FDR-AX700 better? I cant find many reviews for the cannon but i like how compact it is and i like the eye piece/view finder.
I like the G70 better personally
@@MarkusPix any specific reason?
Its lighter and I like the colors and look more (after I created my own profile) I dont like the AX700 colors
i don't even care about cameras but i just love his west coast vibe
Happy New Year!!
Thanks 🤓

You can even set noise reduction levels in your custom profile
@@MarkusPix thanks. I will definitely check it out.
make a custom profile for panasonic gx85 or gh5 pls
Got It Thank you Markus 💜💜💜 LOVE & LIGHT 💜💜💜
I considered long time G70 but had no money for it. Got Pocket 3 CC when released. I love camcorders anyways. But Pocket 3 on the table and it tracks automatically my child playing it just works too easily and I don't have to be a camera man. Can be father at that time. Don't know how it does it but it just keeps following even if the head changes a lot of positions and walking around the room.
Just got my G70, no blue. Great out of the box color, outside and in... My hf r800 great color out of the box. Maybe Canon saw your video of why you don't use canon camera's before they shipped the G70 to you...
Markus, is it possible to do the same with the Sony AX 53 / 43?
Can you do one for the sony ax700
I have a Panasonic video cam. 1080p. Has good video and a crazy zoom. I still use it sometime. No phone camera has 40 or 50 optical.and 400 digital zoom
Do you have video that you shot with this particular camera that we could see? I'm thinking of buying one.
ua-cam.com/video/BB0i9j5Szhk/v-deo.html
The "hot shoe" that you are mentioning is actually a cold shoe, the thing also has a Canon's proprietary hot shoe that you can use in that body as well.
Yes I knew somebody would say that but I didn't want to waste ten minutes of my life doing a voiceover of one word to fix it
My G70, while in a studio, with studio lighting, focused on me or an item, sitting at a table, focus hunts nonstop.
Use touch focus. Or manual. Large smooth surfaces like table or walls can do that
@@MarkusPix Thanks, just seeing this reply now, as I'm still on the hunt for a solution.
Great timing for me as I picked up a used Canon GX10 recently and haven’t had chance to set it up yet 😊 Thanks Markus
Thank you for a good video! But one question remains: What's the difference between "Vixia" and "Legria"? Here in Germany only "Legria"s are sold; why?
Thanks in advance from Germany
Alf
Fabulous question! Canon's Vixia and Legria camcorder lines are essentially the same products marketed under different names in various regions. The Vixia series is sold in North America, while the Legria series is available in Europe, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific regions. Vixia are 30p NTSC while Legria are 25p PAL.
@@MarkusPix
Thanks, Markus, for your elaborate explanation!
Thanks again! Hope to see many more of your videos.

Where can i buy profile settings for the camera?
Hey Markus. I'm on the fence between Canon XA75 and Sony AX700. Which one will you recommend? My main use is shooting a quality family video and travel video mix with a talking head. Thanks!
I'm a Sony guy so I'm biased 😄
Interesting how the G60 is no longer being sold while the G70 is. Makes ya wonder
Im confused which camera i should get canon xa60 or panasonic x1500 or the g70 ... help

How do you get the version with the built in lens cap? The other reviews I've seen show a traditional lens cap.
It comes with both. Most people dont use the lens shade I guess because it makes the camera bigger.
@@MarkusPix Thank you!
