I'm 56 yrs. old. I never knew that the 1980's was going to be such a wonderful and unforgettable decade. And it certainly was. You never know what you had until it's gone forever.
Born in the seventies, grew up in the eighties, went out in the nineties, finally grew up in the noughties and now I spend my time looking back because the present is shite.

Dear Paul, a few hours ago I, 56, had the chance to witness you the first time live, here in Erding, Bavaria in a small venue. You were one of my idols of my youth. I grew up with your wonderful music and voice. My all time favourite is and was always the song "No Parlez", followed by "Behind Your Smile", both you performed tonight.❤❤ It was a great great concert and I am deeply grateful for having been there. A true fan from Germany. 🙏🙏🙏

StarlightShadowDancer Totally agree with you! We could feel love and emotion even if it was acting for a video... But I don't care because it was so good and if people are still listening it after 30+ years it means something!
Have to say,, for the past week or so that song has been in my head and then in the kitchen I'm singing away so I went on UA-cam and played it for real afterall his voice is much better than a 🐈 choir!..lol!..🤭
Wow, 40 years old now this song. Sounds better now more than ever. Fantastic memories growing up in the early 80's and remember hearing fantastic music like this when we were kids having fun and just enjoying life with not a care in the world. Oh god I miss those days.
Hello Mister Paul Young! Thanks a lot for upload this wonderful song! This is one of many songs who has shaped my youth. All musicans like you in the 80s they had more brain and capabilities as the musicans of today and this music has much soul! Thank you Paul Young!
I love the bass guitar and keyboard sounds in this song. This was number 1 in germany for many weeks in very late 1983 and early 1984. I like the cold atmosphere and the bass in the verses. December 1983 was very cold I read and this song fits perfectly in that time.
Back in 1983 I was madly in love with a beautiful scottish girl living in Romford. I lost her forever, but this song takes me back to those great days with her in Victoria road.
Lost both my parents when this track came out,i was sent to a kids home ,music like this saved my sanity, but on a more positve note the staff and other kids in the home made me realise that life was what we make it.
Josh so sorry you lost both parents at such a early age. I lost my dad when I was a baby but I had my mum until I was 41 but still miss her like crazy. Life is so cruel for some. Best wishes x

There is no explanation for what I feel when listening to this song. It's like I've been rejuvenated until the 80's. It gives me strength to live the future listening to the past of the 80's!
I think we're all appreciating music from the past much more these days not only because it is great music but because the music of today is so crap!.. So thank heavens above we can still go back to it and listen to "real music"!..😘

Doobie1975 No I'm not in agreement "Everytime you go away" is way better to me from the first line "Hey, if we can solve any problem then why do we lose so many tears" and the fretless bass in this song is amazing my second would be "Oh girl".
I was 20 years old when this song came out. The girl I'd been dating for the past two years had broken off the relationship. I was crushed. I must have listened to this song in my dorm room and in my car 1000 times. Oh how I wanted her back; I truly loved her. Fast forward 10 years later and I'm a pharmacist with a fiancé when I get a call from the past; It's her! I agreed to meet for drinks one night in Atlantic City. It was amazing to me, when suddenly in the course of that rendezvous, after all those years, it occurred to me that I'd actually dodged a bullet. Afterward, in the lobby, I did as she had done ten years earlier and kissed her on the cheek.said goodbye, and walked away, back to a woman who has been my wife and the mother of our five children for the past 29 years. Thank God for unanswered prayers.
Wow, fabulous of you for sharing this. Too bad that today’s youth DON’T know what you and I did from a long time ago. Just stick it out and you don’t know what will happen. Blessings to you and your wise choice and unanswered prayer!

Im an old rock n roller from way back in the 1940's but I also loved the 80's music. And this is one of the songs of which I remember not only the notes, but every word. Thank you Paul Young!
Thanks for the great love and support you show me as a special fan of mine, I hope you won't stop listening to music, and thanks for your sincere Compliment and love towards my music❤️❤️may god bless you.
This is one of my favorite songs by Paul. Also musician/producer Chicane re-worked it into a dance/techno track in 2010 simply called "Come Back" and it's awesome!
Thank god I grew up in a time where the music was so great, and the video was King.Although my favourite music era is the 1950's and 60's my youth was in the 1980's and watching a great performer from that era really makes me nostalgic for those days.People often tell me I have not changed much from my early 20's.What they don't see is the pain I have in my joints, and the dark cloud in my brain they call depression.A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since this was made. But I would sell my soul to the devil for a rerun of my youth. Not for vain reasons, but to see long lost friends and family,so that I could tell them how much they mean to me.
Saw him yesterday at Wfest. Great live performance of Paul twisting with the balance micro. And the bass was incrédule ! Thank you Paul and the band .It's too rare to see you in Europe.
I heard this on the radio last week on the Awsome 80's radio station from the UK .its a great station because stations here in the states do not play music like this any more .God bless the 80's
Personally i think this song has a more lasting place in my life then "Everytime you go", which some consider your crowning achievement. This song still resonates for me, as well its very catchy, find myself humming it frequently. I also Love that your soul mate Stacey, is in the video... May she RIP!

Paul's vocal is still legendary, but after all these years it's the Pino's playing that takes the cake. Amazing bass line!
True. But almost nobody give credit to him. Same with "Everytime you go away". Pino with fretless bass gave those songs known signature.

Im an old rock n roller from way back in the 1940's but I also loved the 80's music. And this is one of the songs of which I remember not only the notes, but every word. Thank you Paul Young!
The 80s and 90s were one of a kind you're never ever going to hear music like that again!! And that's a fact
Why it happened like this?
I don't have the answer to that but I do know one thing the 80s and the 90s were a special time things were so much different in those two eras
Same goes for the 50s and 60s, in every decade since the 40s, there had been special things about music
Amen 🙏
So damn true
Amazing song for ever Paul Young ❤️
Thanks for the great love and support you show me as a special fan of mine, I hope you won't stop listening to music, and thanks for your sincere
Compliment and love towards my music❤️❤️may god bless you.
2 things, Pino absolutely smashing it on the fretless, and Paul Young displaying pretty rad parkour skills😁
That bass is what made Paul Young's songs so dynamic, it was a signature sound to his numbers!
This is one of my favorite songs by Paul. Also musician/producer Chicane re-worked it into a dance/techno track in 2010 simply called "Come Back" and it's awesome!
Still love it : gives me goosebumps after all these years !
❤
I can't think of a witty user name I feel the same way. 😭
Paul Young - such an icon from the 80s.....unrepeatable!!!
What an album No Parlez is. Has to be in the top 100 albums of all time
Pino's bass is hypnotic in this song! Love this classic ❤️
Saw him yesterday at Wfest. Great live performance of Paul twisting with the balance micro. And the bass was incrédule ! Thank you Paul and the band .It's too rare to see you in Europe.
Jelly! LIVE always offers so much more magic!
Wow, he had such an incredible voice.
I heard this on the radio last week on the Awsome 80's radio station from the UK .its a great station because stations here in the states do not play music like this any more .God bless the 80's
Paul Young possibly the Coolest pop star of the 80's. Always loved that bass guitar in his songs Fantastic
Personally i think this song has a more lasting place in my life then "Everytime you go", which some consider your crowning achievement. This song still resonates for me, as well its very catchy, find myself humming it frequently. I also Love that your soul mate Stacey, is in the video... May she RIP!
I really really do miss rhe 80's
I remember listening to this over and over again on my Walkman on my way to London for a job interview from Kent in Jan 84.
teviottilehurst did you get the job?
Asking the important questions! :)
nice
Rumor has it he is still walking to the same interview to this day...
Got the job?
you've got to love the 80s
Best Paul Young song ever - absolutely brilliant timeless genius ❤️
It’s a cover. Jack Lee. The same guy that wrote Hanging on the Telephone that Blondie covered.
So 80's it hurts, brings me right back to my childhood.
Love This song!!! ❤
