    Brilliant, really enjoyable viewing. No look how good I am attitude, look how expensive my gear is, and not too much time wasted going into detail on rigs. Subscribed. 👍

    Well done,Chris.You've choosen swims what I would,it makes me feel as I'm not useless fisherman then.As I'm one of very hated foreign fishermen,can assure you,guys,not all foreigns remove fish.Anyway,Chris,could you make video of fishing chubbs with lob worms,incredible bait for them,caught around 10 between 4-5.5 pounds over 3 years in River Nene.If you see strong ,powerfull current(stream),cast there and after few seconds(minutes max) will get rewarded with nice chubb.Enjoying your fishing videos,lovely explanations as well.Thanks,keep going.

      MrNatans thanks so much for your kind words. Not all Anglers in the UK hate foreign fisherman and that’s not something we as a channel want to promote either. Great to see people from all over the world enjoying fishing, something we all have in common. I like using worms too, great bait. Thanks for watching and good luck with your own fishing adventures.

    Hi great video, where abouts was this ?

  • @longnetter

    its a P&DAA section of the nene available on day ticket.
    very busy at times as said in other comments.
    bailiffed several times a day and at night.
    minimum 30 inch landing net required and unhooking mats compulsory.
    fishing is from 1 hour before sunrise to 1 hour after sunset.
    strictly NO NIGHT FISHING.
    great stretch of water best suited to the roving angler so keep tackle to a minimum and keep on the move for the best results.

      Dave Preston it’s beautiful down there. Does get busy and can be tricky but am really enjoying it. You fished it much?

      Only fished this stretch this season but because of the heatwave not really fished it for more than a hour or so, will get my hour's of bank time in when the rain and cooler weather arrives

      On The Bank Angling I went down to castor backwater and caught my personal best at 10lb 4oz on rolled meat, alongside another smaller barbel and a few chub 😀

    Hi there. Where abouts on the Nene was it like what town? I have fished Northampton stretch but don't know if it holds Barble

    • @OnTheBankAngling
      @OnTheBankAngling  6 років тому

      Jordan The AllRound Angler Castor backwater near PETERBOROUGH. I don’t mind saying as it gets very busy anyway. So you need to pick your days.

      It was a korum 1.5 test barbel rod. Unfortunately I have since broken the tip section 😭. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🙂

    Hey Chris, just wondering what rod to use for Barbel? Lovin the videos mate.🐟

    • @OnTheBankAngling
      @OnTheBankAngling  4 роки тому

      Thanks Paul. I have to recommend the Drennan Specialist barbel rod in 1.75lb test curve. I got one cheap off eBay and absolutely love it. If you are buying from scratch you can’t go too far wrong with the Korum barbel rods. Again I’d look to get a heavier test curve. For barbel I think it’s far better to be over gunned than under. They can make you look a right mug very quickly on light gear lol. Good luck mate and let us know if you catch one.

    I moved to Canada 11 years ago and am enjoying the fishing here... but it was at Orton Mere and Ferry Meadows that I used to watch the anglers when I was a kid and dream of one day doing the same. Assuming I made a visit, any idea if I can get a licence for visitors to fish those waters? I know next to nothing except the names of coarse UK fish...

    • @OnTheBankAngling
      @OnTheBankAngling  4 роки тому +1

      You can get Peterborough AA day tickets on the bank for Orton not sure about Ferry as have never fished it. £5 a day. So a bargain! Castor is lovely. Gets very busy but the surroundings are really nice and the fish are worth the effort.

      Thank you! My brothers used to fish all round the Nene between Orton Staunch and the other end of the rowing course. Used to be some tasty eels to be had there.

    What size hook and strength of line do you recommend on this stretch?

    • @andjackhadagroove
      @andjackhadagroove 2 роки тому

      2 - 6 hook depending how big your meat is. I wouldn't fish less than 12lb. It's small with plenty of natural snags and there's flow deflectors in some places.

    I'm surprised to see a tin being taken to the bank. My club, Northampton Nene Angling Club, forbid sweetcorn and luncheon meat tins under rule 13. Conduct and I assumed that this rule would be widespread and long standing.

    • @OnTheBankAngling
      @OnTheBankAngling  4 роки тому

      Hi Michael. The tin was taken safely home. Therefore no damage to surrounding wildlife or livestock. You have my word.

      Michael Grant you are right. Unfortunately am not always the most prepared but I know I shouldn’t leave litter on the bank and am always very careful. Thanks for the advice though and thanks for watching :).
