It would be interesting to see a full personal collection tour, and perhaps a short story about the more significant instruments, awesome video as always
Yeah, the trouble with that theory is that the partials in the harmonic series also aren't perfectly in tune, so whilst you don't have to worry about valves, you've still got that to deal with.
Trent Hamilton that’s why you learn to either lip up or tune your instrument so that any tuning inconsistencies can be easily adjusted be either pulling he slide in or out
Trent Hamilton One other thing to note though is that if you're playing in B flat major then the partials line up VERY well if you're playing with adjusted intonation.
Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm a trombonist) but if you play a 3 valve instrument the third valve is basically equivalent to the first and second combined, so if you never use it by itself should you be able to just tune the third valve a bit flat?
The trouble is that the 1st and 2nd valve combination is in tune in some notes, but out of tune in some other notes, so 3rd by itself is sometimes used as an alternate fingering. But I get the point - normally I tend to tune my third valve a little flat.
On most modern 3 valve instruments, the 3rd valve is made so the instrument is in tune when playing 2nd + 3rd. This leaves using 3rd alone too flat and using either 1st + 3rd or 1st + 2nd + 3rd too sharp.
Four valve compensating instruments only tend to compensate when using the fourth valve. I'm not aware of any mainstream instrument that compensates on both the third and fourth valves.
You should try to get a hold of some of the old supposedly legendary trumpets such as the constellation or martin committee and see how they compare to the best modern trumpets.
Hey, Trent! I was wondering if you would be willing to test out and review a trumpet from Wessex-Tubas and give your take on what you think of it. I’m in need of a nice trumpet but I’m on a budget, and I’ve heard some nice things on their company. Just a suggestion, thank you.
What's the instrument with the long bell on the far right? The one that looks like a mellophone with a more circular look and longer bell. I'm really curious
can you do a video on in creasing your higher range on trombone I have a scale test coming up in a few weeks and i still cant reach the second octave on most of the scales please HELPPPPP It would help so much
Hey Trent I play the Tenor Sax and I am getting a Trombone. My band teacher keeps telling me that I need to get a trombone that is in the key of C. I have searched and searched and not found one. I want to know if a C key trombone is a real thing or is a Bb trombone the main type of trombone? Thank you. -8th grade marching band student
There are C trombones, but they're very uncommon. When you play a Bb trombone in bass clef, you play it as if it's in concert pitch - IE you see a written C, and you play a note that gives that pitch. But when you play a Bb trombone in treble clef, it is treated as a transposing pitch instrument, like the tenor sax.
Do you think you could do some sort of vide of how to take off tape from brass instruments.plz, My sibling stuck tape on my trombone.😣 and i know this has notjing to do with the video.

Glad to see you back after your hiatus, missed your content
Loved the rotating cornet stand!
So a E flat bass tuba is what your working on that's cool hope to see the fully restored thing
Heh... You'll be pleased to know that I've made excellent progress, in that I've moved the box containing the bits from place A to place B.
@@TrentHamilton that's good
Want perfectly in tune valves? Play Trombone
My music teacher got a valved trombone recently. I'm not sure I can respect him as I once did...

More like the bugle
Woah I just found one of those Eb tubas in working shape in the back room of my school music room.
Euphonium Master WOW! Make sure that it stays that way!
My teacher gave it to my friend because he got new tubas yesterday so it is in good hands.

I forgot to ask. How are you after the surgery? I’m glad it all went fine, and you can make the content I love again.
Gender transition did not go well
When are you going to pull out a horn with both fourth and third valve compensating systems?
Four valve compensating instruments only tend to compensate when using the fourth valve. I'm not aware of any mainstream instrument that compensates on both the third and fourth valves.
@@TrentHamilton I was only joking! lol. Keep up the quality content
Id be interested to see a valve oil review, what do you use and why. Trying find a new oil for my bach tr500
I learned to play on a Besson enharmonic Eb bass, it wasn't new! :)

What is the difference between "normal" kompensating instruments and intruments with this enharmonic system?
Hi Trent, it's Jay again. What's the story with the alto trumpet on your right?
It is similar to a compensating Euphonium system but with a different tuning function.

Hi Trent I have a double B Besson Enharmonic tuba in nice playable condition silver plated. Does. it have a a sensible value?
I'd certainly be interested in it. Could you kindly email me some photos? trenthamiltonnz@gmail.com
You did it
So it's basically a compensating euphonium?
What is a good price for a bass trombone?
What's the instrument with the long bell on the far right? The one that looks like a mellophone with a more circular look and longer bell. I'm really curious
It's called a Mellophonium, it's made by Conn. I've done a video on it previously.

Wait does the King BBb Tuba have a besson enharmonic system?!?!
dose anybody know where i can buy a sousaphone, that is not really expensive?
Interesting as always. Do Enharmonic instruments play well with non-enhanced instruments or is there a dissonance between them?

Legend says trent will heart this comment
No, he won't. But I probably would spend all my time hearting the comments of everyone else just because.
