  • This comment was by Aaron Jones and may help others: "I've done this lanyard knot on dozens of knives thanks to this great tutorial. Every time I've used a large spool of 7 strand 550 paracord, melting the ends with a lighter to prevent fraying. Today I was doing this lanyard knot on a knife using a new to me paracord. Its called Tough-Grid 550 paracord which has 7 inner triple strands (they seem thicker than the other cordage I use) as well as an 8th "tracer strand" which is thinner.
    The first knot went fine but it took several attempts to get the second knot to seat against the first. I could not get a third knot. After numerous attempts the only thing I could think of that would make a difference was the thicker inner strands. I cut the melted tips of the paracord off and made the remaining knots with no problem. With the ends melted the thicker inner strands must have been binding up, preventing the knots from seating. With the open ends it let the inner stands twist freely, allowing the knots to seat. Hopefully this will help anyone using this heavier cordage.
    Snake Knot Knife Lanyard Easy to Tie Tutorial. The snake knot is a really easy knot to learn to tie. If you want a decorative knife lanyard or key lanyard then this is a really good knot to learn. This knot is also especially goo for the beginner, as it is very simple and decorative at the same time."

      Johnny Debt I wrote a reply but don't know where it went. 🤔 I do both practical and decoritve knotting and am self taught by studying videos like yours and have become quite proficient at it and really enjoyed it thanks to generous people like yourself sharing your knowledge. I make Hindu and Buddhist prayer rosaries and the decorative knotting have upped my creations many fold. Practical knotting is great for fishing, camping, survival, and so many situations and scenarious. Even just a general knowledge of basic knot making is good to have. Some people are truly amazed at some of the simplest of knots I can make. It really is a great and very practical skill to have. I have a large knife collection as well and have embellished some of my knives with some cool lanyards. I am in US but am originally from India. Thank you again, so much, sir. 😃👍👏👏👏

    • @SiamBlades
      @SiamBlades 7 років тому

      Practical for me. My knives speak for themselves, just want to add some paracord for function and use. This one is more for having some spare rope and grip with a knife. Searching for a good video to show some strong knots to create a wrist size loop to wrap around for extreme knife cutting (as in some of my videos).

    Looks nice, however knife lanyards are really a functional use of cordage.
    I prefer to make an adjustable version so you can slip your hand through a loop and draw it to cinch up to the hand.
    Great looking lanyard for smaller knives where functionality is not needed 😊

      Well thank you so much for saying that. Some people do actually leave comments and tell me to shut up. I do try to explain a lot as I have one person who is blind and he watches them with his granddaughter. He tries to do the knot and she helps him when he goes wrong. I have to disagree on the knife comment... IMO, this is the perfect backpacking knife. It's very lightweight, and cheap enough that losing it won't break the bank. It comes in THREE sizes, so you can dial in the prefect size for your kit. The lock back is much easier to use than a liner lock... Lastly, I'm not worried about carving wood with it, eating with it, or striking a fire steel with it; things I wouldn't want to do with a more expensive Spiderco or Kershaw, etc.. I started with the largest version of this Buck knife, and later bought the middle sized one, which I think is about perfect for backpacking. Now, excuse me while I add this lanyard to it... Thanks for the video.
