It makes sense to me considering the Eye of Terror is where the heart of their empire, and probably most of their worlds, was and the Eye is not the entire galaxy. A book from 2015, Asurmen: Hand of Asuryan, also said that the Eldar Empire consisted of 10000 systems (presuming star systems) which is a lot but the Imperium is an Imperium of a million worlds and the star system is around second from the bottom of the Imperium's organization (being below the subsector but above an individual planet). Throw in the fact that Eldar travel is more limited in a sense than warp drives (since they rely on the Webway and all that) and that they cannot expand or really fix the Webway, their expansion would be very limited in some respects so there is plenty of cracks for humanity to squeeze through. The galaxy is a very big place after all and humanity's colonization of the stars early on was apparently very haphazard and involved shooting people in various directions and hoping for the best.

The population of a Hive City doesn't seem to be as far-fetched as it sounds. In a video by Issac Arthur he estimates that if we take the 500 million km2 of the earth, and divide it into apartments of 50 m2, the Earth could easily have more than 10 trillion people and if we put floor on top of floor we could have between 100 trillion to 1 quadrillion people on Earth. For example a Hive City that occupies the area of Israel (26,000 km2) having more than 330 habitable floors could have a population of 150 Billion people and still have room for other things within the Hive City.

Unfortunatly things kinda got out of hand. The campain was allowing outlander ganges to take part and one of the exspermental gangs at the time was Broodbrothers. After a lucky and cairfully orcistrated kidnapping and Relise campain, I had converted the Next biggest Gang also into a geanstealer sub-cult. Eventualy I was found out and so a Imperal Force was sent in..... One MASIVE perge scinario and a crittical backstabe later and we found ourselves with most of a Imperal Guard Command Group, including an imperail commisar as prisioners. though alot of brother's where dead. Crossed fingers and the Commisar Failled his LD test and was converted, along with a couple of Guardsmen. With the codes of the day in hand they reported back mission acomplished. since this Result was deturmined by the moderator to have given us acess to the Hive's PDF the campaine was efectivly over for the brothers and I had to restart. As I'll likely never play the game. Some lore videos based on the games world and environments would be a great watch.
@@PodreyJenkin138 Not my style of game. I don't play the tabletop or RTS games either. The 40K lore is just so damn good.
Youll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy
Thank you for the video Arch :D also just revisiting Armageddon series again and wonder when you are planning to make the War between Grey Knights and Space wolves :D
Also known as the San Francisco of 40K
That is absolutely unfair to to the hellscape sci fi megalopolis.
Cleavland, Detroit, or Chicago would be more apt. Far, far, F A R more violent.
@@DragonHammer45 but are they as dirty from feces or filled with used needles as SF?
dont insult necromunda like that lol
Clearly you’ve never been to cleaveland.
Jeez Necromunda is like Battle Angel’s scrapyard on steroids, placed next to hell, populated by wasps with all manner of weapons, and set on ethereal fire.
This is amazing. I've said it before. Only Arch makes it so interesting and funny. I can't get enough!
So like Tyranids, Necromunda survives off of any biomass it can. ICK!
this is the best lore vid arch has done in a while
That feel when 40K's scale is still too small.

Didn't The Human Federation fall due to appearance of psyker humans and the Fall of the Eldar happened later?
IIRC the Fall of the Eldar is what really fucked up all interstellar travel and isolated everyone.
If it wasn't the direct cause of the downfall of the Federation, it was definitely the final nail in it's coffin.
Ah Necromunda, it's a nice holiday spot. Kind of like Cthonia on tranquilisers.
God I do enjoy your extended topic videos. Hoping you do chaos dwarfs next.
47:32 secundus: a little bit of gene stealing
The rest of the planet: COWABUNGA IT IS
Loving the new tone and background noise. Funny and kept my interest
"Post execution paperwork"? Are we supposed to be filling out a form every time we? Fuuuuuuuuuuk
Thanks! Necromunda is off my vacation list! I’ll take a paradise world instead…
Hey I just got a warhammer ad on your channel
Great video Arch I would love to see a FPS Guardsmen game in the future on Necromunda taking on the GeneStealers that would be epic and a horror style game as well.
Fatshark the creators of Vermintide are gonna release a Warhammer 40K themed game titled Darktide. Set in a hive city with a Imperial Guard shock trooper, a IG officer, a Ministorum zealot and an ogrym as the player characters under the orders of a Lord Inquisitor. Dan Abnett will be the lead writer.
@@davidfrancisco3502 I am following that one and plan on getting it as soon as it is out. I would love a Guardsmen only game in the future as it also can use vehicles like Battlefield.
Soylent Green is people!
With quality seal!
Ah yes Necromunda.
In my day m'boy we used to hunt for 'long Grox'.

I dont really get how humanity could colonize the galaxy with the eldar being the dominant faction and not already in decline
Awwwwwwwwwe yes. Just started playing hired gun so this is extra awesome.
I would love to see individual gang houses explored
so in my feed i got the recomendation from warhammer's offical youtube page and they disabled the comments section on all of there vids no matter how far back they have the vids.
Necromunda is the type of planet to pick the corn out of shit for sustenance
Or xtc out of puke
Just like modern amerikkka
The population of a Hive City doesn't seem to be as far-fetched as it sounds.
In a video by Issac Arthur he estimates that if we take the 500 million km2 of the earth, and divide it into apartments of 50 m2, the Earth could easily have more than 10 trillion people and if we put floor on top of floor we could have between 100 trillion to 1 quadrillion people on Earth.
For example a Hive City that occupies the area of Israel (26,000 km2) having more than 330 habitable floors could have a population of 150 Billion people and still have room for other things within the Hive City.
So the janitors on the planet have tremendous power on the planet.
Nicely done game video and lore in one !
Brilliant. Greatly enjoyed this.
sigh, the destruction of hive secondus is not my best moment but it is nice to see that it has contined into modern game lore.
yes I did it!
I releced the Genesealer plage on the HIve....
It happened a couple of years after the 1st ed Necromunda was releced and I was taking part of a narative campain happening in the hive, normal GW idea, hold a campain and wright it into the background.
Not a good day for the Imperum.....
Any hope you might cover the various gangs?
The comment for the Algorithmus, glory to Arch
