I'd get the Kia. I prefer the more interesting styling, aside from the ducktail rear end, and even that is not terrible. It has plenty of room for four adults, or two and luggage, which is all I need. I don't like unshades panoramic glass roofs, and my partner loves moonroofs that open. But the killer feature for me is the fast charging, as we regularly take road trips. Most are not super long, but would require a few charges, including mid-day ones (like SF to LA would). An 18 minute break for a couple of hundred miles charge is entirely reasonable. We can grab a sandwich, use the restroom, or just stretch our legs. A 40+ minute stopover is much more annoying and would require just waiting around for it to finish.
As long as those 350Kw chargers actually charge close to 350, most reviews I have seen show about 125! That is not good, but overall the EV6 is about the only EV that can pull me away from a Model S or Y in my future so far!

The EV6 has less room in all seats incl height. I have verified it myself. Also some issues in snow/rain, the side mirror screen(s) popping up in the middle dashboard is just blurry. Perhaps no problem in sunny california but further north - not a usable function. The infotainment in KIA with the icons remind me of my old Mitsubishi Outlander but once you click past them, it looks more modern and fresh. They should have spent som more time there by the software engineers. A fun and good car to drive though but not more fun than Mach E in my opinion. Why not the frunk Tom, it is super usable !

I love the feel of Tesla's one pedal driving. It works so flawlessly that using the standard brake is silly outside of emergency stops. Chevy Volt and Cmax Energi blended braking is total junk. There is no way to stop truly smoothly in either of those platforms.
The Kia Niro EV has excellent one pedal driving. It's strong and will bring the car to a stop in just the right amount of time at any given speed. They really tuned it properly. Also has plenty of adjustment via paddles and you can hold a paddle for even extra regenerative braking which really works well at times...like coming off a freeway ramp at really high speeds and you need a little extra braking oomph to go to regen. I have no doubt the EV 6 one pedal driving will be amazing as well. The ID4s greatest flaw to me is the lack of one pedal driving. What in the hell where they thinking?
This was great! The two best car reviewers on UA-cam really getting a chance to share some opinions and bounce off each other. Thanks, guys! Please consider doing more of these.
I really wanted to like the EV6 but it’s starting to look cramped inside. I do prefer the in-dash infotainment system to the tablet style. And it looks like EV6 has a better charging experience. Planning to go test drive soon
Did you get your test drive? I'm sure the Ford has more interior space. I didn't get to test drive it, but drove the EV6. I'm 6'4" and the EV6 is definitely more of a "wrap around" vehicle. But honestly, I liked the feel. Everything was right at hand, it has a more sporty feel without sacrificing comfort. I didn't feel cramped; just nicely "hugged". It will depend on the exact body proportions though. I have an average length torso with long legs, but some people have much of their height in their torso and so sit higher. A person with a really long torso might find their head too close to the roof, even if they aren't even particularly tall. (I'm going to assume that the truly tall among us, e.g. 6'6" and up, are just going to find the EV6 way too small.)
Nice comparison. I liked the EV6 but it was just too cramped for my 6'4" frame. The Ionic 5 was much more roomy. I ended up purchasing a Mach-e. Thanks for your comparison.
I wish there was an option to have NO sun/panoramic roof, that's one of the worst trends, honestly - so much complication and a huge compromise for structure/rigidity that for some reason has now to be in EVERY car...
@@10tenman10 I do like them but I hate not being able to have a sun shade. ID4 got this right, they have a non openable panoramic sunroof but a sunshade rolls out and can cover the entire thing. Tesla drivers go through great lengths to deal with the heat in SoCal that comes from the unshadeable pano roof. Side note...it drives me absolutely nuts to see anyone with a "Luxury" vehicle in Southern California that can't afford or chooses not to tint the windows!!! Tint makes the car look so much better and good window tint will turn even a tin can into a comfy ride in the heat.
A plus for the Mach E is the large battery buffers that Ford can dial back in the future to give the owners instant more range. They are probably just getting more metrics for a year or so, not sure what they set for the battery pack warranty.
Great job, both of you! I ordered a Mach e back in September and can’t wait to get it. I’m an older guy and like to buy American. I know it’s made in Mexico. Still lots of support people work in the US.
I would trust Kia’s long-term reliability any day over Ford's. Kia has been near the top of the reliability lists for many years now while Ford has never approached even the top third of manufacturers. Kia also offers a far better warranty for peace of mind.
Ironic that you say that kia is so good. My 22 kia Sorento hybrid s AWD with 4500 miles on it has been in the shop since may 25th! Kia just offered to buy it back or pay me a tidy sum of money.

Oh yeah? You use it that much? Gotta say I am jealous every time I see a ford with the code. I don't surf anymore but man that would have been handy all those years at the beach.
How about comparing the charging planning for long drives? That's a big convenience feature. The biggest factors for me, as a potential EV buyer in order of importance are charging speed, charging convenience/consistency, interior space and then cool features like vehicle to load. I could take or leave a big frunk.
Watching you guys back and fourth, was like watching a wrestling match. Except I believe you guys did not rehearse but rather went with the flow which worked so well. I like both cars but my model 3 sr+, brings the Tesla supercharger network, reputation, upgrades etc. it’s just an amazing car.
Both great contenders. I've tested the Mach E and shortlisted one. Just can't find any AWD models in stock anywhere near where I live. I'll definitely check out the EV6 when it's available for a test drive, and honestly, am favoring it over the Mach E after everything I've seen on it.
One year later the government decided who's the winner by stripping Kia from the list of approved EV rebates. I was really in the market for an EV6 but price wise it didn't make sense without the big tax credit.
I've said it before and I'm going to comment every time Sofyan shares the stage: his presence is a detriment. He has a lot of opinions about everything without one ounce of factual basis. He also is a lot more impressed with himself that I've ever been. So, I'll down vote ever episode he's on.
I really love seeing UA-camrs share the screen. The next time you guys are at an event I hope we can see more of this, and maybe get a little bit of Sarah-N-tuned in on it too 😎
Excellent review. As others have pointed out, I really like how you both brought great insights to the two cars. Your preferences being different in some cases but you agreed on the specs. Loved it.
One main reason I did not choose a Tesla. Speedometer on in front view. I always had to kink my neck to check speed. My test drive i caught my speed at 105 MPH. Smooth a quite BUT 105 MPH.
That's funny. My two favorite car review people. Both do great in-depth reviews that tend to be what I want to know about. And I am one of the most critical people I know.
I've got to say, I really like the idea of a front trunk. For small grocery runs, lucky front facing parking opportunities, and road trips too, that would be nice. I like the idea of a heavier battery and putting the battery on the bottom of the car. It would add extra stability when driving on windy roads. I frequently drive a freeway that is windy enough to blow a Camry around.
I use the frunk in my Model S all the time. I do like it. But it's not a big enough deal for me to choose a car based on having one. Indeed, I wound up ordering an EV6, in spite of the tiny frunk (my LEAF, R.I.P., didn't have _any_ storage up front, and that too wasn't that big of a deal).
Gotta admit: Was originally turned off a bit by Mach E, simply because it seemed too much of a "copycat Model Y". It now seems like a pragmatic option with its space and build quality, more than adequate performance, and network of dealers.
Great comparison. I disagree with Alex on 1 pedal. Love it on my Bolt, especially the finger controlled hard regen button. Being able to brake with your fingers instead of your foot is a game changer and I wish every car offered it (and that it was an analog type button instead of simply on/off). I don’t think the Kia’s paddles let you brake in this manner as they simply switch between different levels of regen right? Hearing that the regen is similar to a ID.4 also seems uninspiring. I expect these cars with far bigger motors and far faster charging capabilities than the Bolt to offer far harder regen braking for those who want it. I guess I’ll keep dreaming on that.
EV6 has 1-pedal driving, and it works great. Granted, it's a subjective thing whether you like 1-pedal driving or not, but I do agree that it's the bomb.
Here in AZ, having a moon roof is problematic, due to the track pieces getting destroyed by the heat. one day you hit the button and it opens halfway and stops. Not good.
No! 1-Pedal driving gives you more control. You just moderate your pressure on the pedal to speed up or slow down, no need to shift to the brake pedal. It doesn't "just exist" because Tesla doesn't do blended braking, it exists because it's a genuinely good driving experience. It's totally OK if people don't like it or use it, but it's also quite good for those of us that DO like it. :-)
I prefer the EV6 overall. I think the Mach E has advantages in the frunk, amber rear turn signals, and ground clearance. But I much prefer the looks of the EV6 inside and outside, the better efficiency, and the V2G ability. I would not get either of them in red.
@@markmiller3279 thank you, I guess I misinterpreted the Mach E being taller overall to being higher off the ground but you are right. So, the only advantages I see for the Mach E are the large frunk (which I would rarely use) and the amber rear turn signals (which actually are really important to me because I believe it is far safer). in reality, I won't be buying either of these - I prefer small cars.
We have an EV6 and are happy with it. Ford calling theirs a Mustang was an irritant to me. It looks nothing like a Mustang. One would think of your using the name you might try to style it similar to a Mustang.
EV6 ease of ingress/egress?? “Slightly lifted sedan” makes it sound sort of ideal in my book, especially since it manages to look sleek at the same time.
Tried both in AWD version and found the Mach-E a bit more fun to drive, with better infotainment and better interior quality. But EV6 has better tech and is cheaper, would be a tough choice !
As I sit in the middle of an ice storm today, I look at automated doors and door handles and just shake my head. If I had either of these cars, I'd probably be walking until the next thaw.
It's so refreshing to see someone who owns a car talk freely about how a different car does something better than the car that they own. Especially in the EV space.
In Europe the RWD Kia EV6 have bigger frunk because they dosent have front motor. But in USA they also have the small "AWD frunk" in all models because if the frunk can fit small kids, the hood needs to have a safety latch inside for the hood....that EV6 does not have.
Flash forward less then a year the Ford is now $67k for the exact same Premium $76 for the GT and it’s $59k for the KV6 GT Line & $63k for the full GT. And that’s before dealer markups.
Thanks for inviting us to do this comparison, Alex! Next time, we need to redo this video with our Mach E GT Performance and the upcoming EV6 GT ;)

The biggest factors for me, as a potential EV buyer in order of importance are charging speed, charging convenience/consistency, interior space and then cool features like vehicle to load. I could take or leave a big frunk.
Awesome video you guys!! You have great interaction. As a Mach E owner this is a prime cross shop car. Excited to see the full GT.
I can't believe how amazing this review is.
Excellent comparison. Kia is going to sell every EV6 they can build. Enjoyed the collaboration you guys. Great job.
One year later the government decided who's the winner by stripping Kia from the list of approved EV rebates. I was really in the market for an EV6 but price wise it didn't make sense without the big tax credit.
It still a lot cheaper and better featured over the Mach-e. I see EV6 GT in the low 50k. While the lower end Mach-e are mid 50ks.
The Mach e is way prettier. It’s really beautiful. But I still think it’s sad they didn’t use the Mustang name for a really cool sedan mustang
We notice that you both hate ev6 but we love it
Good to see the EV market providing more options for the consumers.
Yes
I've said it before and I'm going to comment every time Sofyan shares the stage: his presence is a detriment. He has a lot of opinions about everything without one ounce of factual basis. He also is a lot more impressed with himself that I've ever been. So, I'll down vote ever episode he's on.
So cool to see two of my favorite reviewers!! 👍🏼👍🏼
I like your banter style and commenting. You guys work well together in providing smart insights. Nice job.
the two best independent reviewers on you tube
I really love seeing UA-camrs share the screen. The next time you guys are at an event I hope we can see more of this, and maybe get a little bit of Sarah-N-tuned in on it too 😎
@@Live.drones well maybe it won't happen but at the very least I hope the next time the guys are at an event we can see more of this
Enjoyed seeing the both of you together
I went for the ev6 gt. It’s an astonishing car. Crazy fast. No one lifts the bonnet and puts stuff in it.
*YOU GUYS ARE GREAT AT EXPLANING EVERY DETAIL. YOU DEFINITELY HAVE A GIFT. I HAVE A TESLA MODEL 3 SO I'M GENUINELY CURIOUS ON OTHER EV OFFERINGS.*
Excellent review. As others have pointed out, I really like how you both brought great insights to the two cars. Your preferences being different in some cases but you agreed on the specs. Loved it.
I would take the Kia. Here in Quebec it's elligible to a $13.000 tax credit, but not the Mach-e
It’s not a tax credit it’s a rebate
The lack of door handles are better and less failure points. Frunk is great if you Live in the bay area with vehicle break ins.
One main reason I did not choose a Tesla. Speedometer on in front view. I always had to kink my neck to check speed. My test drive i caught my speed at 105 MPH. Smooth a quite BUT 105 MPH.
love love the collab between my two fav reviewers! Keep it up :)
Thanks Sir Nice to see Sofiyan Bey with You .
The frunk is really good for storing high value items.
I can't agree. I would store high value items inside of the cabin. I'd feel safer having it in the trunk even.
@@trstnhn - yeah, except they can break a window in about 1/3 of a second.
Damn. 2 of my channel I love to watch every time. Exciting reviews
These collab of two amazing guys makes my day!…they are the best car reviews and hoping for more to come!…I choose EV6 in this comparison….
Sofyan and Alex on one Video 😍😍😍 I love them. My two favorite reviewers.
The dynamic duo. I like it, good job guys. Do it again!
Gotta admit:
Was originally turned off a bit by Mach E, simply because it seemed too much of a "copycat Model Y".
I second this. Love braking with fingers on the Kona EV.
EV6 has 1-pedal driving, and it works great.
Granted, it's a subjective thing whether you like 1-pedal driving or not, but I do agree that it's the bomb.
Thank you for making this video, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the conversation you both had.
Here in AZ, having a moon roof is problematic, due to the track pieces getting destroyed by the heat. one day you hit the button and it opens halfway and stops. Not good.
Both great...and despite being a Ford guy...Kinda partial to the EV6/Ionic. Will wait until the charging network improves
Good to see these two guys together. Great review
They didn’t overstep there boundaries and talk to over each I love it 😍
Went with speed to charge for road trips this comes in handy. Every day use of course better on your batteries to slow charge.
I love the collaboration! Two great channels! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I prefer the EV6 overall. I think the Mach E has advantages in the frunk, amber rear turn signals, and ground clearance. But I much prefer the looks of the EV6 inside and outside, the better efficiency, and the V2G ability. I would not get either of them in red.
The Kia has more ground clearance than the Ford, even though it looks lower.
Great presentation from both of you. I think you work well together, and I would like to see more.
I love these double team videos. Thanks to Alex and Sofyan.
EV6 ! Is the Car of the Year !
Two of my favorite reviewers together - cool!
Tried both in AWD version and found the Mach-E a bit more fun to drive, with better infotainment and better interior quality. But EV6 has better tech and is cheaper, would be a tough choice !
That's interesting to hear because both the reviewers said EV6 is faster and handles better.
As I sit in the middle of an ice storm today, I look at automated doors and door handles and just shake my head. If I had either of these cars, I'd probably be walking until the next thaw.
Couldn't agree more!
The HVAC blows hot air out the handles.
@@onedankind8168 You gave me hope. Some may do that but apparently not the Ionic
ua-cam.com/video/P1wfDZgowE8/v-deo.html
@@onedankind8168 Oh, that's interesting.
It's so refreshing to see someone who owns a car talk freely about how a different car does something better than the car that they own. Especially in the EV space.
Great duo. You have it covered gentleman.
In Europe the RWD Kia EV6 have bigger frunk because they dosent have front motor.
But in USA they also have the small "AWD frunk" in all models because if the frunk can fit small kids, the hood needs to have a safety latch inside for the hood....that EV6 does not have.
Love the Collaboration!!!
Flash forward less then a year the Ford is now $67k for the exact same Premium $76 for the GT and it’s $59k for the KV6 GT Line & $63k for the full GT. And that’s before dealer markups.
This is the comparison I have been looking for! Thank you!
