"similar" costs seems a little wrong (MSRP): Ioniq 5 middle trim SEL RWD @ 300 miles is $45K... Mach-e Middle Trim Premium RWD @ 300 miles is $55K.... OR the CA Route1 RWD one at $53K... They really aren't in the same range for most.. $8-10K difference.
Kyle, I passed on both of the cars and ordered a Polestar 2. Dealers are the biggest obstacles to buy these cars because all the mark ups and add-ons that they charge you. Polestar 2 buying experience was transparent and honest.
My husband got a polestar and I have an Ioniq on order. I wouldn’t say the polestar experience was stellar since the polestar went thru the associated Volvo dealer process. They “accidentally” tacked on $800 in fee for some paint protection. I only caught it after they delivered the car to my house and I signed all the paper work. it took 2 wks for them to make the correction.
I drove both and ordered the Ioniq 5 without any doubt... the ride of the Mustang was hard, didn't like it at all, also the many features of the Ioniq and the lovely dual screens and the head up display, make the Hyundai such a pleasant car to drive
Some things not mentioned: Ford navigation helps route you to chargers. Ford has wireless CarPlay/AndroidAuto which is awesome once you have it. Ford has a rear wiper. Ford has charging in front which is subjective as to personal preference. I feel it’s more natural to pull in to charge as opposed to backing in. Ford has the digital keypad which is another great feature if using phone as a key because you could still get in the vehicle and drive if you don’t or can’t use your phone. You also can valet park with the Ford without carrying the key. Hyundai has a more polished experience in some ways as I’ve owned ICE and hybrid Hyundais as well as a Ford Fusion Plug-in and a Chevy Volt. I wish the Ford had ventilated seats and a thigh extender so it may come down to seat comfort for me but I really want the Mach E because it just feels/looks more substantial.
I will receive my Mach E AWD Ext in the next few days and the first thing i will change are the wheels 245 45 20” I’ll sacrifice a few miles for better grip and handling.
8:35 I have a friend that took delivery of a Mach-E just a couple of weeks ago, and he said that Ford has started giving Mach-E buyers 2 key fobs since the keyless phone app is still pretty buggy.
4 dots for H or Hyundai on the steering wheel, 1 dot for E or entry on the door handles, and 5 dots for 5 on the filler cap. A bit of a Morse code easter egg set.
Hard to say when you see it standing alone it does look like a smaller car. When I see it next to the Mach e in next to the Tesla model three I’m surprised again at how large the ionic five is. The shape of it reminds me of an 80s hatchback and I guess that’s why I think compact car when I see it but it’s actually a pretty decent size.
Canadian manufacturer charging spec for the Ioniq 5 is for 350kW charging capability. I’m hoping that’s the case, just ordered one :) Like the channel bud, good stuff. And we actually have a 350kW network across Canada (some areas 250, but not complaining).
@@BrianHoJazz I know, I live in KS and was also considering purchasing out of state so I emailed a bunch of dealers in TX, IL and CO. Half of them told me they don't charge ADM. There's a list of the dealers that don't charge extra on the ioniq forums
I would rather have more cabin space than a bigger frunk. The front Mach-E is much longer than the Ioniq 5, so the ioniq could have a bigger frunk, but instead they taken all they have shrunk the front engine cavity space. Also, the Mach-is about 12 inches longer. I prefer the shorter care; easier to park in the garage.
lol I drift my AWD Mach E all the time. It’s got insane traction but with that torque it’s still easy to break. I have wider tires too and on 20s but still doesn’t stop it from sending the back end flying. Love that so much as it was a concern being awd
We've had the IONIQ 5 here in New Zealand for about 4 months and have driven about 7,000 km. I still love it; the software can do odd things occassionally, but the updates have fixed most problems. The manual is like an encyclopaedia( one written by one someone paid by the word), but Hyundai US has some useful videos on UA-cam.
for me personally, I am trying to decide between the Ionic 5, and the ID4. So a direct comparison of the 2 would be awesome. Do the instruments, buck also do the Dog test. How well does each accommodate 2 adults and 2 large dogs?
Me too! I ordered the ID.4 Pro S AWD, but I’m cross-shopping the IONIQ 5 and EV6 now that they’ve arrived. One of the dangers of the 8 month wait to deliver, I suppose. The heated windshield is still the “killer app” for the VW, but I’m waffling.
@@guybrushthreepwood3002 Thank you for the reply. I haven’t been able to test drive the IONIQ5, but I suspect I will agree with you once I have. I don’t think there are any available in WI yet, and the closest appears to be 118 miles away. It might be worth a road trip.
The Mach-E is not an option if you need a roof rack. In Norway, all Mach-E's are actually retrofitted with a load thru system from the importer. Unfortunately, that doesn't help much for a family of four that want to bring skis, snowboards etc.
Kia and Hyundai are gonna be able to offer really compelling battery, traditional car build quality and software integration.... IF they can get a handle on their dealership network issues (which historically in the United States is far too used to working with low income/subprime loan customers and don't know how to make an honest sale).
german here: most hyundai dealers are criminals here. not, not good, but outright lie and cheat to save a couple hundred knowingly the owners will end up with thousands in damage.
Narrower tires on Mach E degrades starting on ice and curve handling. I’ve already seen your video on Ionic 5 charging and it did not meet the 18 minute, 10 to 80% in colder weather. I’ll have to watch the Mach E charging video. Hopefully, done in similar weather conditions. I don’t consider these a SUV. More of a crossover style. I would refer to these as Mini-SUV category. The prices are way to high to get from point A to point B as compared to ICE offerings at this time. Maybe free charging for 3 years will attract some people who travel a lot. Thanks for video.
It’s comes down to one question to decide. “Do you “officially” want to tow anything?” If yes, Ioniq 5. It’s when you don’t care or plan to, then harder. My choice is the Ioniq. Just because of the electric hitch and charging speed. Plus it looks like a bloated GTI. I had one when I was younger and skinny. Perfect match for me :)
"Crossover SUV" = "stationwagon".Sort of like how, in 1980, disco was DEAD and couldn't be found in any reputable club - but somehow all the music still sounded just like disco.
Yep, I'm biased (since that's our Mach-E in the video), but I like the look of the Mach-E way more. I am a tiny bit envious of the charging on the Ioniq 5, but I charge mostly at home so it's not huge. In the end, either one is a good choice.
I think both cars look sexy AF. Mach-E is more traditional Sexy and the Ioniq 5 is more futuristic Sexy. I honestly think you can't go bad with either car. For me it would come down to which lease deal would be better of these two. Which can I get a better lease deal on.
@@laloajuria4678 We've already launched a general EV channel (ua-cam.com/channels/EIqn38lVkFOtzwTK-d1o3w.html ) and we're planning out some content for that. Our Mach-E channel can also keep us quite busy with the updates the Mach-E is already getting -- not to mention the fact that Ford has plans to greatly increase Mach-E production and improve it every year.
I’m late to the party here, but I find the Mach-E to be a superior vehicle. I thought the ride quality is better, it’s more spacious, 2 car seats fit in the back and a 3rd adult fits comfortably, the Ioniq 5 doesn’t accomplish that. The Mach-E also gets above EPA at around 328 miles per charge. I find the Mach-E to be the better Road Trip car as it offers way more storage and space, which are both more important in my humble opinion then the 30 min EA charging session, also I don’t think EA has 350Kwh stations everywhere, I know they are installing them, but are they everywhere yet? Because if they are still the old 150kwh stations like EVgo and ChargePoint then the faster charging of the Ioniq 5 is not utilized rendering it useless. To each their own, I honestly prefer the Mach-E because Interior space (width) was the most important to fit the 2 car seats and an adult comfortable, storage space was second, range 3rd, and looks 4th, which I think Mach-E bests the Ioniq in.
My local dealer called me to say that they had a Ionic 5 in and I came and looked at it and it was the lowest trim level. I was tempted to buy it but then they said it was going to cost me an extra $5,000 dealer profit. So they wanted to give me to pay an extra $5,000 for the lowest model instead of waiting to get a better car with that $5,000 and when that higher trim model came in they would still charge me an extra $5,000! So I literally went across the street to the Ford dealer and put in my order for a Ford Mach E which I think is going to be a much better looking car and actually a better car! For Toyota's hybrids many dealers will charge an extra two to $5,000 for what they call an appearance package that amounts to a wax job!
The ionic five is incredible. However only available in 20 states is a real problem. I live in Ohio where they are not currently offered. I tried to deal with out-of-state dealerships and they wanted to mark them up $5K to $10,000. Not cool.
I know you camera man referred to how the MachE feels like to sit on top of the car, versus more in the car like an actual mustang. The funny thing is, I feel like all real v8 powered mustangs always felt like you were sitting on top of the car. I came to that conculsion after driving a 6th gen camaro where you were literally in the car. The mustangs now feel like a sporty coupe version of a ford fusion.
I would have considered the Ioniq 5, but I live in one of the many states where it is not available. I also don't appreciate some of the dealers with their mark-ups on the Mach-e. In the end, I opted for the Model Y. It should be arriving sometime in the next month.

After watching your previous vids, I knew when I saw the title what what your conclusion was going to be. I feel like most of the MME hate I hear comes from either Tesla folks who were upset that Ford brought out an EV or older Mustang enthusiast upset that Ford put a Mustang badge on a car that does not sound like the middle of a tornado.
That one-pedal driving issue you mentioned on Patrick's Mach-E is odd, as mine (2021 GT PE) comes to a very smooth stop with no "coast". I wonder if it has had all the software updates?
I drove a Mach E, and I thought the one pedal driving experience was horrible. It does a weird thing near the end, and then the brakes grab. You should drive a Chevy bolt in low, If you want to experience how smooth one pedal driving can be, especially when coming to a complete stop. Silky smooth. Ford has some learning to do
Mach E’s Horrible one pedal driving would keep me from buying it. I tried it and immediately thought it was horrible. One pedal driving is so important to get just right in electric cars. Ie. Chevy Bolt is PERFECT in this department. Plus, I love my LCD rear view camera!
@@msbloom19, I’ve driven 3 different models of Tesla, and not one of them quite matches the smoothness of the Bolt EV. They are ok, but not quite as good as the Bolt I think it comes down to the Bolt having even more aggressive regeneration. To the point where the brake pads never even have to be applied. Unlike others, where you “feel” the brakes being activated and all the stuttering associated with brake activation. Plus, I think that some people just don’t pick up the details like others. Maybe you just didn’t notice. 🤷♂️To have two people right here, that have driven many EVs, notice the Unsatisfactory one-pedal driving of the MME, says a lot. I really hope Ford get this right. I really love the car otherwise, and hope it has even greater success.
Both great cars! But I wouldn't buy any of these. Not because of the issue with cars it's just the dealers. I live in California and They are going bonkers, charging 10 to 20k on top of MSRP. That's the real letdown.
I live in Arizona and found one dealer in Arizona - Sanderson Ford - that did not charge a markup. Ordered a MME - GT PE from them. Now waiting for a delivery hopefully by June. All other Ford dealers here here have markups of $5k-$15k.
After having Ford send me a notice that my Mach E that has been on order since 6/4/21 and which has a delivery date of 2/22/22 has now been extended to 5/22/22. I canceled my order a purchased an Ionic 5 limited AWD in the dark matte gray. I’ll have it here in Seattle around 2/7/22. I have been thinking it might be a better car for a while. Its a big selling point if you live in a cold area and plan to do long trip. mach-e range decrease so much during winter and then you compare 45min of charging time vs 15min for the ioniq5. But well, thats only matter if you plan to do long trip with your car IMO.
Mustang Mach E GT Performance > Ionic 5 top trim > Mustang Mach E regular models. Honestly though, I'd be HAPPY to have any of those beauties in my garage Vs the egg shaped Model Y and the bland ID4. Both cars are stunning and most owners would be THRILLED with either. Ford's a bit easier as the dealer network for me is local and much better.
The Mach E GT only gives 5 seconds of max performance while the the Kia EV6 GT-line (not the full GT) already gives mid-low 4 second acceleration without nerfing the performance...
Well the IONIC sounds good but I have been enjoying my ID 4 for 9 months now. I'll link this video on the ID forum, we have many member who are still in the selection process and the 3 years of free EA charging is the same as the 2022 ID4's.
Another great review! I’ve been watching all of your videos since last summer! Great to see roundabouts being used in the US - greetings from the roundabout and bike path country: The Netherlands
How is the navigation for road trips? If I set a destination, will the IONIQ 5 have charging station stops listed (similar to Tesla)? This is a must for the general consumer.
I absolutely agree that the route planning and battery management software HAS to be rock solid. From watching road-tripping reviewers both in the U.S. and Europe, it appears many cars' software isn't. On his road trips Kyle will usually comment on any problems he encounters with route planning and range estimating/reporting programs and that's helpful, but I don't know anyone who actually evaluates this functionality in any consistent, apples-to-apples method across manufacturers. I don't know how you would do that except by driving a specific long road trip with every car you test. Not practical to do that, so the ad hoc, subjective comments by reviewers are what we have.
Yeah, 10 months on I can’t get either. These comparison videos are laughable given the ultra tight demand. I’ve been waiting 5 months for an Ioniq 5 I no longer want with zero insight into when it might come
Kyle, Thanks for the reviews of the vehicles! Looks like you are also here in Colorado. I have a quick question, you've raved about the Ioniq 5 and how great it is on road trips... How does it do up in the mountains? Have you taken your Iconiq up to Estes Park or any similar mountain drives? I would love to hear what that does to the range.
Actually mountain driving doesn’t seem to impact range as much as speed does. With regenerative braking going on I’ve averaged about 4 miles/kWh when driving 60 mph on Colorado mountain roads.
The IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6 are NOT SUV's. The seating position is way to low and it has cramped headroom, they should just be called sedans. Ev tech changes so fast they will have to constantly update cars every few years just to keep up since both are already superior to the Mach E.
Honestly the road trip charging is the number one factor. All the EVs can charge at home over night just fine so I don't even consider that and I live in Canada where everything is far. Half of my family live about 300 km away and some even as far as 450 km away and one guy lives 600 km away. Also I like road tripping and seeing the country so if I'm out of luck on charging I'm not interested.
I just put a deposit on the Ioniq 5 SEL RWD in digital teal. Waiting for it to arrive. They say a few weeks. So stoked. Can anyone tell me if the SEL has the front light bar in my trim and drive train? Kyle has awesome videos and has highly influenced me with the techy deep dives in all these videos and I'm finally getting one. Keep up the good work. Thanks!
Absolutely would love to see a road trip test and a spec test for the current crop of EV crossovers in this midrange class. MME 4X, Ioniq 5 AWD, ID4 AWD, EV6, Model Y LR. How do all these numbers add up in real life?
Seems like most of the public Super chargers are still 150kw or less; there are 350's out there but much fewer. So I'm not sure the charging speed above 150 is really a good decision factor yet.
Fair point. But, just think how happy you will be when you find and pull into a functioning 350 and after a good session you are on your way in half the time as if you kept your ID.4 (in my case). This possibility is some of the stuff that excites me… I know I know. I need a life haha
@@midnight121190 here are my reasons: If you care about the range, my Ioniq 5 RWD gives me 488K every time I charge it to 100% but when I charge it to 90% I get a minimum of 430 to 450KM. I paid for it 55K after rebates included taxes in Canada and I can charge it in between 18 to 28 minutes from 10% to 80%. If you want to pay around 89K + taxes then you can get Tesla Y and it gave you the same or maybe less KM range. However, Tesla's software is unmatched in the market other than that Inoiq 5 wins it for me. 40K price difference is a lot for a lot of us. I am sure others may disagree but this is my personal opinion and experience.
@@ferooz303 thanks for replying! I definitely see the range, charge speed and apparently the ride comfort (what do you think btw?? Comfy as claimed?) as all being a huge plus to the ionic. I’m honestly surprised and excited by how many people say the Hyundai has the best ev ride quality. I have a Tucson now and it’s loud and not overly comfy - though it wasn’t at the same level the ionic is lol. The ride quality on the m3 I test drove was one of the things that stood out. My main issues are the storage size and charge network. When we camp or road trip… we don’t pack light and the Tesla has what seems like a TON more room. Two people can literally sleep in the Tesla comfortably with the climate control running only losing minimal power overnight. It’s tempting. So it’s more expensive (about $15-25k here too) but it also seems like a way bigger car with a better charging infrastructure). Going from Washington to Colorado with a Tesla, no problem. Same trip no Tesla… looks challenging or slow at best right now. The ionic’s 2 years of free charging is tempting though. There are literally great points to both.
@@midnight121190 I am not an outdoor person however, I recently took a 6 hours road trip with my buddy who has an Audi E-Tron SUV 2021 and I can tell you with confidence that in 6 hours I hardly noticed if I am tried or not. The drive was smooth and the seats are great. Storage is the same inside I think however, Tesla has more storage in the Frunk. Electrify America is everywhere nowadays and the charging was very convenient. During my trip, my buddy had to charge twice for our 500KM trip while I only charged for 8 minutes once. I agree Tesla has a great charging network however, there are a lot of charging stations for none Tesla cars, especially in the USA. By the way, IONIQ 5 is one of the rare cars that has an adapter that can power your camping gears and even power your house for a few days. At the end of the day, it is a personal choice and how much you are willing to spend. I am happy with what I got and I highly recommend this to all my friends. It is a car that whenever I park people always come to me and check it out because of its special design and look ;) Best of luck!
I think all of those SUV‘s out there in the $50k to $60k range are great cars. However there is no clear winner since it really depends on driving habits and taste. I drove 10k miles in my XC40 including some road trips and really like it. The performance is amazing. However the range sucks but I like hanging out at EA charging stations. I think until an EV can charge 10 to 80 in 15 minutes, drive 300 miles even in winter and we have at least twice as many >150kWh chargers, EV‘s are only for geeks.
Today, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 can charge from 0 to 80% in 18 minutes, gets a summer range of 361 miles, and many more 800-volt chargers have been built. Your future is much closer...
I like the styling of the mustang a bit better. The huge white bezels on the infotainment in the Hyundai are horrible. But as another smaller option I have a polestar 2 and it was by far the best dealer experience I’ve had. They were transparent and quick. Going to a dealership most of the time becomes an all day event. Having the option to do almost everything online in minutes and signing paperwork upon delivery without having to step foot in a dealership is the reason I went with the polestar over the xc40 recharge, ID4 and Mach E. The Ioniq 5 wasn’t available at the time but I’m sure it would be marked up and i wouldn’t want to deal with all the haggling.
Kyle, you praise high charge rates, honestly only something that can be judged in years to come, there is no new battery tech at this time, so manufacturers are using what is available in the market (Tesla is an exception to a point) therefore we can only presume the higher charging cars are doing it a loss for longevity of the battery. Batteries are to be charged at a fixed voltage and a variable current, normally determined by the manufacturer.
Hyundai has a habit of making the top level trim Infotainment system wired only, yet the lower trims are wireless in all their models. It drives me nuts.
At the end of the day it boils down to what you can afford and what kind of deal the dealership is offering both brand are charging markups which is a deal breaker for me.
It would've been nice if you compared the front legroom. You looked so cramped in both driver's seats. Just looking at the degree of knee bending, couldn't you have moved the seats back more?
I’m getting the distinct feeling that the Ionic 5 and EV6 are the same except for looks? What surprises me in general is how hard it is to get new EV cars with the average prices being in the mid to upper $50’s!!! Even in this day in age, it seems above the price an average car owner would pay.
Considering most people finance on 5-6-7 years, and you can remove the oil expense from their weekly budget, it makes tons of sense. I can afford a lot more car I'd I'm not spending on oil/oil changes (especially that here in Quebec where I live electricity is both very green and very cheap). My car is paid off. Just with the payment on my wife's car and the money we spend on oil weekly, we can more than afford the payments on 2 new ioniq 5s! That's not counting on the big back amounts from our current cars
Both nice cars but I prefer the looks of the Mach e it's beautiful, I would have standard range in rear wheel drive in either space white or infinite blue colour 👌👍🏴
I don't think I'd be able to set foot in a car that has the pony on it. I get that it's really not a mustang in any sense of the word, but I've never been a mustang guy, and the idea of driving a knockoff electric mustang crossover is even weirder to me. Thinking about Ford's rationality in calling it a "mustang" makes my head spin. On the other hand, the Ioniq 5 is a very original and incredibly stylish product, and it is also one of the most advanced EVs on the road today. To me it seems like a clear choice just on that stuff alone.

Kyle, I need more Ioniq 5 stuff and I NEED it now.
I agree, the Hyundai is a lot lower cost.
Now imagine if the Mach E was built by US union workers instead of Mexican workers and that price difference will jump much more...
Kyle, I passed on both of the cars and ordered a Polestar 2. Dealers are the biggest obstacles to buy these cars because all the mark ups and add-ons that they charge you. Polestar 2 buying experience was transparent and honest.
What’s your eta?
Curious if you see the Polestar as a small SUV?
My husband got a polestar and I have an Ioniq on order. I wouldn’t say the polestar experience was stellar since the polestar went thru the associated Volvo dealer process. They “accidentally” tacked on $800 in fee for some paint protection. I only caught it after they delivered the car to my house and I signed all the paper work. it took 2 wks for them to make the correction.

I would go for the Ioniq 5. Drove it, love it.
It took Tesla a couple years to nail down a consistent iphone/car experience. I wish all the luck to Ford.
The phone as a key is one area that needs improvement. I purchased a key Fob after 2 months of ownership.
4 dots for H or Hyundai on the steering wheel, 1 dot for E or entry on the door handles, and 5 dots for 5 on the filler cap. A bit of a Morse code easter egg set.
Honda was doing that with their door chimes in the 80's...
The Ionic 5 is larger than I thought, saw one yesterday and it's as big as the Mach-E which is huge.
This is great. Looking at the Mach-e, Ionic 5, id.4, and Model Y. Nice to see comparisons.
I'm glad you mention the markups of both vehicles. An average of $5k markup over msrp can put many of these cars in another class of vehicle.

Yeah, you don't sit in the frunk, you want that extra space inside where you sit.
Yes, I think with seats down the Ioniq 5 has significantly more space inside.
The mach E is 1.5 inches longer, has significantly more trunk space, and interior space, and has a larger battery. The specs are on their website
lol I drift my AWD Mach E all the time.
Ioniq 5 drives the best!
for me personally, I am trying to decide between the Ionic 5, and the ID4. So a direct comparison of the 2 would be awesome. Do the instruments, buck also do the Dog test. How well does each accommodate 2 adults and 2 large dogs?
I would highly recommend the Hyundai over the ID4.
Ioniq 5 is a much better car than the id4. It shouldn't even be a question (having driven both extensively, bought an Ioniq 5)
@@guybrushthreepwood3002 Thank you for the reply. I haven’t been able to test drive the IONIQ5, but I suspect I will agree with you once I have. I don’t think there are any available in WI yet, and the closest appears to be 118 miles away. It might be worth a road trip.

Ioniq 5 without a doubt! If I can ever get one here.... Paid my big deposit and still waiting. Can' wait to get the European Car of the Year!!

Thank you for talking about cabin interior comfort.
When do you plan to release the ioniq 5 range test?
It’s comes down to one question to decide. “Do you “officially” want to tow anything?” If yes, Ioniq 5. It’s when you don’t care or plan to, then harder.
My choice is the Ioniq. Just because of the electric hitch and charging speed. Plus it looks like a bloated GTI. I had one when I was younger and skinny. Perfect match for me :)
"Crossover SUV" = "stationwagon".Sort of like how, in 1980, disco was DEAD and couldn't be found in any reputable club - but somehow all the music still sounded just like disco.
Just one question, how do you open the door without the door handle, when something happened to 12V battery?
Kyle - could your dad give us an update on his Ioniq purchase and also provide an review / comparison to his id4s? Thx

Not cool.

Glad that I will buy a fully loaded Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition anyway.
Ford has some learning to do
Excellent review, job well done. You made me a follower.
Mach E’s Horrible one pedal driving would keep me from buying it. I tried it and immediately thought it was horrible. One pedal driving is so important to get just right in electric cars. Ie. Chevy Bolt is PERFECT in this department. Plus, I love my LCD rear view camera!
That’s a bad take 😜. I have a MME and drive it exclusively in one pedal mode. It’s efficient and smoother then what I ever had in my model S.
@@msbloom19, I’ve driven 3 different models of Tesla, and not one of them quite matches the smoothness of the Bolt EV. They are ok, but not quite as good as the Bolt
I think it comes down to the Bolt having even more aggressive regeneration.

The Ioniq 5 has a heat pump. Whereas the MachE doesn't. Which is why feel Hyundai doesn't have much frunk space
ID4/Polestar both look bland
The Mach E GT only gives 5 seconds of max performance while the the Kia EV6 GT-line (not the full GT) already gives mid-low 4 second acceleration without nerfing the performance...

The decision is a little easier now, 8 months after the video has been made, go with the Mach-E. The Ionic 5 has a 18 to 24 month wait time in Canada!
I really like the Ioniq 5. But they’re so hard to find in SoCal.
I just put a deposit on the Ioniq 5 SEL RWD in digital teal. Waiting for it to arrive. They say a few weeks. So stoked. That sounds great (an "instrumented" test, especially with the AWD ID4! :) )

Disagree totally. Tesla is so much better as a whole.
This is a great thread start, but I want to hear WHY you each think so! I’m debating both of them and need all the details
What color is that Ionic5? Sweet looking!
Not having knobs for cabin temp controls is a deal breaker for me. Pecking away at a touchscreen while driving is distracting. No muscle memory.
Hey man, why do you drive so close to the steering wheel? You not that short.
I’m really curious about the upcoming Polestar 3.

Anyone know if there's any possibility of wireless carplay update in these cars or are we screwed and stuck with wired?
Mach-E is wireless, Hyundai is wired
Hyundai has a habit of making the top level trim Infotainment system wired only, yet the lower trims are wireless in all their models. It drives me nuts.
@@twospirits411 Agreed. Very strange... I wish they at least would leave room for it to be somehow be added later.
At the end of the day it boils down to what you can afford and what kind of deal the dealership is offering both brand are charging markups which is a deal breaker for me.
Yes both brands, but let say all brands and all new and used cars have now mark-ups lol
I vote for that multi car comparison.
ioniq 5
It would've been nice if you compared the front legroom. You looked so cramped in both driver's seats. Just looking at the degree of knee bending, couldn't you have moved the seats back more?
Can you put a dark mode on those screens in the ioniq ? I find the bright screens annoying
Yes, you can switch it to dark. That's what I do.
@@NightRidah777 you can even program it to have dark mode in the evening and white mode during the day, as you wish !
Aah, what a beautiful mountain background! Hang on just a minute....
That’s snow. 🤣
Actually, I clicked on the video because you guys are fun. I am not in the market for a car.
Not sure why, but you always fail to mention I-Pace, out since 2019 model year.
