Thank you for sharing this information. I’ve just started seriously considering buying this EV. I’m in an area of USA where EVs are very unpopular so when I saw the 21 model year sitting on the lot with 25,000 miles for $27,000 I was intrigued. There are quite a few new ones on the lot and they are discounted on average of $6000 with the lowest priced one at $41,000 minus the tax credit of $7000. Unfortunately I don’t know how that compares yet to the 2021 . I have heard say that even used EVs qualify for a $3500 tax credit but didn’t confirm that. Overall though if everything checks out according to your video and they can get the price down to $20,000 I’m a buyer. I’ve found over the years that when I want a car and set the price I’m willing to pay that a negotiation over a week or two with the dealer is normal. I buy these unpopular cars and have always enjoyed them. My first EV I hope.
There's a lot of false information and hate out there for EVs but they're incredible. I've been driving electric since 2013 and I'll never go back to a combustion vehicle. Good luck in your search!
I just purchased the extended range premium model in the colors I wanted. Paid $27K for car with 32K miles from dealer who was relatively close. Because the car cost over $25K it did not qualify for the tax credit.....But I got the longer range car, the car looks new, and it was half the original MSRP so I was happy. Car is so much better than the Tesla Model Y.
@@DustinBatchelor Just got a 21 premium also! I love it. Best car purchase I have ever made, that price is unbeatable for how luxurious and fun this car is. The EV price drop was a godsend.
Good day to you, we have the same exact 2021, same color, and yes, the 4X also! Bought in 2021, demo, had 2100 miles, as I am the primary driver. It now, 3 years later, only has 16,000 miles, so, obviously, I do not drive a lot. The ONLY issue I would “complain “ about is the RECALLS! It has been in for the windshield/ panoramic seals and now, it is CURRENTLY at the dealer for software issues. ABS was alarming, the “one petal drive” stopped working, in which they are all alarming together. Ford apparently has no real fix to some of the software issues, so that part is really upsetting. Dealer has had ours for almost a month! If anyone else has experienced this, feel free to add a comment, thanks for the video and sharing everything! DO LOVE my car though, miss it right now! 😢
Good video. I don't have any rock chips on my Mach-e. The normal cause of rock chips is following too close behind the car in front of you. Touch up paint from the dealer is a cheap fix.
Technically there is only a small difference between select awd and extended awd in acceleration (4.8s vs 5.1s 0-60mph). The front motor gets power limited by the battery current, but the motors are the same between extended/premium and select awd.
I would like to by a premium 91kwh AWD. My understanding is that the 2024 model has a new rear motor. What are your thoughts on the value of the 2024 versus the earlier models? Is there anything in the 2024 model that’s worth the 10 or $15,000 depreciation cost?
In my opinion the only thing worth the extra money in the new version is if you buy the new Rally edition. Otherwise the cars are so similar you're much better off saving some money.
It really depends on how good your lease term is. Our lease options in Canada are usually pretty terrible so it's typically better to buy. A big advantage to leasing an EV is you get a chance to upgrade to newer models in the future. I'm currently on a large USA road trip in my Mach E (driven 3500 miles so far) and the car is flawless. Sure it would be great to have a bit faster charging and more range, but the car is wildly capable as it is and such a blast to drive. Anyways, best of luck with your decision!
@@DustinBatchelor yeah I’m in the US and was thinking of getting a new car once my current car a 2016 Chevy Malibu is paid off in a few months to go back to being a ford driver! And I’m liking the idea ford will pay for the charging unit for the house with free standard installation and I agree leasing an EV would probably be smarter so mechanical issues won’t cost me much and like you said since I’m sure new models and tech will be added in the future so getting a new one every few years would be nice!
I saw the same model and the year that has like 9k miles, would that be a good buy? for electrical cars if the miles are super low for a 3 years old one, is that considered worse off in the near future compare to a similarly aged car that had decent used miles on it?
It's still important to get as low mileage as you can as there are still lots of components that wear with usage such as suspension, interior and exterior finishing, tires, brakes, etc. The only concern I might have is that someone left the car in a low charge state for a long period of time which could be damaging to the battery, but it's pretty unlikely. More likely that someone bought it and just didn't drive much. I'd say go for it!
I just renewed my $2599 power steering and $2995 power brakes subscriptions on my 1983 Mercedes 300TD diesel. The electric windscreen wiper and power windows subscriptions ($1299 each) aren't due until Spring and well worth it!
The market has changed drastically since I bought mine. I actually got into an accident that wrote off the car in this video and I bought a used 2022 Premium (I'll be making a video soon on it). I paid $52,000 Canadian back in March.
Someone definitely drove my car through a gravel storm. I did a fair amount of research on it and it has happened to several people, but I'm guessing they might have bad driving habits
There's lots of things that will impact charging speed. Temperature of the battery, amperage/voltage, current state of charge, and the total capacity of the battery in the car (normal vs extended). If we take best (and simple) case scenarios at home (11 kW charger), then you just need to divide the battery capacities (72 and 91) by 11. From complete zero it would take 6.5 hours for the normal capacity and 8.25 hours for extended. Public rapid charging is a bit more complex as you typically don't want to charge above 80%. The extended range will charge at up to 150 kW, but that speed increases and decreases depending on the state of charge. Plan for about thirty minutes if you are very low on charge and find a fast station.
I had a ‘21 Select that did have the parking assist. I tried it, and it worked, but it was also painfully slow and of limited utility. I traded this week for a ‘23 Mach-E Premium.
