I have tried every mid size truck for 2019, except for the GMC Canyon, and I feel that the Ranger was the best Ride and handling at highway speeds out of them all. the interior of the Ranger is just as good as the rest as well. Savagegeese hates this truck and TFL took a road trip in it and loved it.
And now you went from 16mpg to about 10mpg for a simple mod I have a 2019 Ranger love it and went simple with a stage 1 Fox kit rims and tires and have a blast with it
Yeah but the Colorado ZR2 exists and you can buy one of those used for 32-35k all day long. The true Veloci-raptor makes more sense imo. I like what they've done but Chevy and Toyota do the same thing for much less right out of the gate.

Toyota doesnt sell anything that can compete with this. I really like taco's, but you cant get one like this or even a zr2 without hitting the aftermarket hard.
Or you can buy a Ranger FX4, and spend like 6k and do it all for yourself. Tune, suspension, and wheels and tires. Rather than the 19k that they want for this.

Why would anyone buy anything from Hennessey? Just buy the ICON kit from ICON. There are plenty of tuning places out there to get the same map Hennessey uses. Save yourself over 10K. Not sure anyone would want Hennessey badges.
Leggo My Ego not really, I drive a ZR2 which is identical to the size of this truck with no issues. My buddy has a new AT4 and it doesn’t fit anywhere.
@@scoobtay The raptor is about 8 inches longer and wider than your truck, so 4 inches on each side. Any place that a raptor doesn't fit is going to be a tight squeeze , i.e. an issue for your truck as well.
@@2011blueman 8 inches longer and wider makes a huge difference in the city, and that's before the mirrors when you're driving (folded in while parked of course). Even the difference between the Silverado and Colorado feels substantial to be honest
shit, I'd pick up an old ford ranger for 5k off Craigslist, and with the extra 60k I could have a shop build me a complete off-road beast, with an engine swap and all.
Just some constructive input... Diff lock isn't for high speed desert mobbing. Also, Icon has never been known for a raptor-like ride. Fox, King, and ADS would have been better choices for that package.
jgr Nah it’s probably putting 315ish to the wheels, 390ish tq to the wheels. It has a forged crank and forged rods, the pistons are coated. If this is a custom tune done correctly it’s fine. A tune goes a longgggg way in balancing boost and durability.
You can probably get a steering wheel with paddles from a raptor and wire it up on this one. You would just tap in to the wires coming from the shifter button.
Matt Farah should talk to Ford Performance about a steering wheel upgrade with paddle shifters/ manual mode and an actual hand brake up in the center console.
It's a cool idea to take the best excuse for a light truck that the modern world will allow and make a off-road truck . But a older Ford Ranger makes a hell of a lot better starting point for a Baja truck .
Kinda like it.. Really Hennessey just needs to import the actual Ranger Raptor and drop the 2.5 or 3.5 eco into it, id still just go 801A Raptor though. The $60k offroad midsize truck market exists because the Raptor skyrocketed to $100k for a few years there.. 801A Raptor is still the best bang for your buck in the F150 and offroad segment.
Too bad he wouldn't have let you give it some real off road testing. The terrain you were on you don't really need an off road truck .It looked like something any 4x4 truck could drive on. Love it in concept, ie the tiny raptor, but how is Hennessy’s execution of the suspension (including tuning) fenders, other fit and finish items. More generally, does it feel as “put together” as a Raptor does from factory?
OK so i'd take the Euro raptor suspension with the F150 Raptor-esque Fox shocks but with this powertrain. Maybe it needs a transmission tune? So the "new" Ford Ranger is 10 years old? Why can't we get decent small trucks in this country. I guess because you can by a white, basic-ass F150 for 15k all day every day.
You cannot call this a Raptor. Is it missing one of the biggest thing a raptor has a LONG TRAVEL SUSPENSION. It is just a beefed up Ranger. Like what Evan said a "PowerRanger".
Matt since the t6 ranger plataform has debuted in 2012, it has been very update. At the beginnig the were shit boxes, but now they are much better but still worse than the volkswagen amarok. And i guess the us variant its even better than the south amercian / asian variants.
Take it down Pronghorn next time you are there ;) Freeman canyon is really soft and sandy so its great for some sideways turns and then pronghorn is a nice tight technical trail that will really test the vehicle in its "stock" form.
I don't think it's that simple. Changing the steering wheel would change crash testing standards, airbag efficiency, that kind of stuff. The raptor wheel is a different diameter. Hennessey modifies brand new cars from dealer lots, and he is limited to what he can modify in order for many aspects of factory warranty to be kept.

I have a ranger with the Icon kit and I freakin love it. Honestly it's got plenty of power stock. Matt is right though, the exhaust note sucks.
Get the borla s type cat back. It is the best exhaust hands down. It actually makes it sound like a truck. I have it on mine currently.
exhaust wont help a bit for power so better to just leave the factory on it and keep it quiet vs having a hot hatch note coming from a truck IMO.
I'm sure the Ranger will get a refresh and update the terrible interior.
