The water has nothing to do with external sources and the customer driving into a puddle as mentioned by you the air filter box was clean and dry, the water doesn't just magically disappear. The source of moisture is overcooling of the air in the intercooler and the water condensing out of the boost air because of that, drill a small hole in the bottom of the intercooler (as is the original factory solution from Renault which this engine in the Mercedes is) or partially cover the intercooler.
Hi bro I have got the same sound in my a class mercedes a180 2014 w176 petrol engine sport when I changing gear and pushing the gas pedal doing this noise like that can you tell me what that can be please?
My mothers B180 CDI has exactly this issue. Whats the ballpark cost to get this repaired at a reputable garage would you say? I was looking to see if it was something i could do for her myself but this looks like something I'll leave to the professionals. 😂
my juke is making a whistle noise but its not loosing any power when i press the accelerator it goes, but once the boost kicks in the whistle noise stops
I could feel your pain on this one Sandy, it nearly looks easier to drop the engine out 😬😬 But well done for seeing it out 👏👏👏 I don’t think I was much help 😔😉😉
Currently trying to do this job tonight/tomorrow using Sandy's video as guide. Seeing your comment, if you did manage to do it all from the top, gives me some hope of saving a lot of headache. Otherwise will have to crack on with everything I've seen in this vid.
Painful job, I was thinking about changing my turbo DYI in my house, but it is a nightmare. Could you tell me what Diagnosis devise are you using in the video? It's very nice to have some graphics of parameters in real time. Very useful!
So what was it that determined the turbo needed replacing , - i have a w176 2.1 cdi amg a class , with black smoke when i hard accelerate and smell on idle , ive already replaced the injectors and regulator, yet still have the issue 😢
mates has just gone 61k 2016 full service history auto driven by a mum with two kids 😢😮 i asked a merc dealer mate he said they take the front end off and drop the whole engi e out on the sub frame like they do on the production line 5 hours in and out they said 😂😂 us 12 hours and change
These Renault engines have everything just crammed onto the back of them,,,some of the components you couldn't see even if the engine was out of the car because they literally have components buried under components,,,And there is plenty of room around the engine where they could have put some of them,,The dpf for one could have been under the car instead of up against the block,,The erg cooler is under the turbo and the dpf,,,
The turbos go out because of these 12k Miles oil changes,,With all the emission crap on these new engines the oil is crammed full of soot particals after about 4 or 5k miles,,The soot in the oil is what makes the rubber seals in the turbo and other components brittle and hard,,Once this happens the seals fail and allow oil to enter,,At that point the turbo is done,,Change your oil every 3 or 4K miles with a good quality full synthetic oil and at least your seals will remain good for longer,,
Terrible engineering from mercedes on these A classes for both Renault and Merc engine. Lack of access is ridiculous. Going to be alot of dissapointed owners in time.
Iv always worked on my own cars unfortunate accident on track with my mx5 so I get a180 as I liked the look as someone that works on my own cars I hate it I hate it I hate it its a mess of a car
only footage on UA-cam on this car turbo and not one bolt was done on camera thanks mate great job
Absolute winner saved me loads of time
Super common for excessive condensation in the inter cooler especially in freezing weather then suddenly warms up
Cheers Simon
What a ball ache of a job, mine were aching just watching. Good job 👍

@@sandyande 😊👍
Thanks for the shout out too mate 🙏
Good tips just done one but ya don't need the driveshaft out tho
Hi sandy how did you manage to remove the top bolt for the turbo, I don’t want to round it but it’s taking a lot of force to remove it
If I get one of these I’m sending it down to you and Roddy. If you’d started that as an apprentice you’d be time served by the end of the job 😜
U sure would be Russell, terrible job but we would do it again 😁😁😁
Iv Just done mine I didn't need to do half of that. Did it all from the top you need ratchet spanners

all of what u say but main problem is its a bag of bolts Renault engine designed to last 60-80k or the length of the warranty
Where are u based sandy?
Sandy where are you based?
Good Job ! ............What a faff on ...............Bloody Mercedes.
Please let Roddy have a cup tea occasionally
Idleness is bad for the Soul thus says Plato😁😁😁
