Possibly my favourite Maiden song. Hugely underrated but an amazingly powerful song. Don’t forget that Iron Maiden regularly sing about movies and books and this song is about the 1960 movie Village of the Damned and it’s sequel in 1964, Children of the Damned. It’s about a group of super intelligent children in a small village who have extraordinary powers and start to take over the village. The lyrics make perfect sense once you’ve seen the movies.
As with many Steve Harris written songs they are inspired by books or movies Children of the Damned is a 1964 British science fiction horror film, the sequel to 1960’s Village of the Damned, where a group of children with similar psi-powers to those in the earlier film. The film enables an interpretation of the children as being a good and more pure form of human being than evil and alien from the fist movie. Check out the song Revelations it has a similar vibe.
It’s from a thought-provoking movie of the same name from 1963. Almost every album of theirs has 1 song that is based on a movie. Usually the movie is an obscure one that Steve loves.
"No other band has rhythm like Maiden" Their music is so incredibly tight, the arrangement is top notch, they are world class musicians and no other band or artists transition as well as they do....none. They are also absolutely incredible to have a laugh and a drink with, not shy in buying the next round.
Brave New World, Ghost Of Navigator, Out Of The Silent Planet and The Wicker Man... All from the Brave New World lp, the return of Dickinson and Adrian Smith. Cheers!!! Peace!!!
Seventh Son is a great album every song is fantastic The clairvoyant Moon child evil that men do Infinite dreams That whole album is absolutely fantastic. The 3 strait album run of Powerslave somewhere in time and Seventh son is absolutely remarkable
Agreed. And after feeling the pressure of living up to the brilliant albums that came before, that the next 3 are this good is amazing. But hey, when your good your good
I'm 52 and Maiden has been my all time favorite band since my teens. I love watching you and other reaction people falling in love with Maiden. I just keep thinking, finally people are getting it!!! Love watching your reactions to other things also. You and your wife seem like good people with good personalities. Keep up the good work!!
I love watching you and your wife do Maiden reactions.I can tell you both genuinely like their music. You have experienced all era’s of Maiden with all 3 singers and have listened to the progression of the band since it’s inception from the 80’s through the 2000’s.I am patiently waiting for you to react to a song called Empire of the clouds which was off of their last album The Book of Souls.Bruce recorded this song/album knowing that he had a golf ball sized tumor on the back of his tongue and would have to go through cancer treatment but he chose not to tell any of the band members because he wanted to finish the album.Empire of the clouds was Bruce’s lyrical creation and I will just say as a Maiden fan of almost 40 years it to me is the Opus of their career.Even Bruce said that if he was never going to be able to sing again after the chemo treatments he would have been satisfied knowing that Empire of the clouds was his final contribution to the band.I really hope both you and your wife react to it soon and you use the lyric video to react to it so you understand the story being told and the Maiden voyage (pun intended) you will be taken on.Up the Irons....Forever!
This is Bruce Dickinson's first album with Maiden and Clive Burr, the drummer, his last album with the band. I really enjoyed the reaction. Please, react to '22 Acacia Avenue'? Totally BadA$$
Although I loved the Paul Diano era, and the first 2 albums are in my top 5 Maiden albums, but Bruce brought them to another level. Bruce brought in more range and theatrics to the music. Great reactions and continue to go down that rabbit hole, you won’t be disappointed. Up the Irons 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Please react to Iron Maiden's Where Eagles Dare, 22 Acacia Avenue, The Nomad, Blood Brothers, Killers, Aces High, Caught Somewhere in Time (you may do that whole album ;) )
I bought my first Maiden album on site alone back in the 80s. It was Killers, then bought the first one, a couple of months later this album came out. I always felt they were intelligent rock.
Please react to Infinite Dreams (w/ lyrics) My favorite Maiden song of all time. Like this one, its very melodic and builds to a kick ass ending. Plus its a longer one.
This is the first metal album I ever owned back in 1982; this was, and still is, my favourite track on it. I always thought the song was about the film of the same name.
they are the best metal band of all time i have seen them 32 times to, date in the uk and they just get better and better with age and live no one comes close every musician a master at what they do
Great reaction. One of my favorite songs on my favorite album. Correct, Maiden just get you lost because their songs are each a journey. Now that Iron Maiden are old guys they re-titled 'Children of the Damned' to 'Damned Kids!'
New to your channel but so glad to see such an overlooked song but that entire album is fire. I highly recommend seeing them live when the world get backs to normal.
I love that you and other channels like yours are keeping this music alive! Exposing folks that never would have listened on their own. Makes this old soul happy! Well done sir..
Thank you for doing this one. Can you please consider Iron Maiden's "22 Acacia Avenue"...? The best is their live "Hammersmith" performance from like 1982. Interesting stage show to go along with a grand slam performance musically and vocally.
This song is fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥......literally! Love it! Keep the Maiden coming. Do The Prisoner and 22 Acacia Avenue, the next 2 songs on the album after Children of the Damned.
Hard to request an entire album's reaction, but for your own personal enjoyment I'd recommend listening to the entire album "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" from start to finish uninterrupted. A masterpiece. Musical arrangements to delight your ears!
YES! Been waiting for you to get to this one! One of my favs! "Wrathchild" should be your next jam, it'd be interesting to see a comparison between Bruce & Paul as they both have live versions. Keep rockin' 🤘😎
Check out the Somewhere In Time album dude 🙏 It's such a unique part of the Iron Maiden legacy, with the space/timetravel theme and synth guitars. The production is the best of any Maiden record in my opinion. The song "Caught Somewhere In Time" might be a good place to start :)
@@xtc4aqt69 My introduction to Maiden was through Powerslave, then Piece of mind. That album is sick from beginning to end 😎
Bruce Dickenson's cousin is Rob Dickenson. Singer for the band Catherine Wheel. 'Funny how both bands are named after a death device'. Great English alternative band. You should check them out sometime.
Yes sir madien is awesome, Bruce Dickerson is my favorite, love them all but Bruce is like the best. Great reaction my friend ❤️. Gots lot to catch up on, been really really busy.
T,his song is another by Iron Maiden that takes it’s subject from a movie. The movie was a British movie that was remade by John Carpenter called Village of the Damned. The movie tells of how all the women in a small town are impregnated by aliens. The alien children are all born and start to grow gaining incredible intellect and mental powers. Their goal is to take over tue world, but this song picks up when the alien children are being destroyed. That is why the lyrics say what they do.
You should do Sign of the Cross by, well Iron Maiden it’s by Blaze Bayley instead of Paul or Bruce but still an amazing song. The Blaze era wasn’t the greatest withing Iron Maiden but he’s still a part of Maiden history.
Like many Maiden songs, this one is inspired by a movie. Their spell is the zone you get into with the depth of the music. When the track ends, it's like stepping back into reality.
Love your reactions! You should check out “Dream of Mirrors” from Rock in Rio 2001. Probably one of the most underrated and obscure songs not talked about nearly enough.
I'm not 100% sure but I think this song is based off some old sci-fi movies from the 60's, also remade in the 80's or 90's. 'Villiage of the Damned' and the sequel 'Children of the Damned', someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
After watching a whole lot of your reaction videos I would like to recommend a few bands GWAR the slamanizer, Type O Negative Christian woman, Prong test, Sheer Terror here to stay, Blackfoot train train, Rob Hanford (from Judas Priest) resurrection. ...all good stuff...ENJOY SIR!
maiden is a pilar of heavy metal. did you check powerslave, right? if not, it should be the next video XD hahah what a masterpiece.. i love paying some maiden songs with guitar and trying some solos even being amateur. the fun is incredible and the classic maiden sound is mostly harmonized thirds, i realized months ago
I’ve listened to this song so many times but I’ve never read the lyrics and damn that was pretty intense. Oh and if you want suggestions I got one for you, Phantom of the Opera from their first album.
One of my favorite Maiden songs. Never gets old. Sebastian Bach (formerly of Skid Row) does a cover of this song. Not as good Bruce but still really good and worth a listen.
Anytime Children pops up in my feed I have to 'czech' it out. As it's the 2nd Maiden tune I ever heard - 2nd song on Number - like you, I immediately fell in love with it. I saw these guys in concert. I was in the 300 row all the up there. I had a bottle of Jack Daniels in a leather pouch. I was swinging it in circles above my head, and the string broke. The bottle went flying all the way down to the floor seats. My God, I'm sure I hurt someone. And really bad too.
If you really want to go deep , take the red pill and dive into the Seventh son of a Seventh son , but complete album. Its a concept album and all the songs tie together.
One of many favourites, there are so many. The Talisman, Still Life, Ghost of the Navigator, 22 Accacia Avenue, there's just too many to mention. I keep finding new things out about the band, only just found this on UA-cam, this is what Bruce gets up to just before a show, check it out in your own time, it's not long just about 4 minutes ua-cam.com/video/nq9c78qsExU/v-deo.html
You should react to the entire somewhere in time album cover to cover. Do your first entire maiden album reaction. You will not regret it. That album got me into metal. There was no turning back after that
I got this from ironmaidencommentary.com/?url=album03_notb/commentary03_notb&lang=eng&link=albums#track2. This dark and compelling track is inspired by the 1963 film of the same name, which is about six children with psychic abilities who are forced to battle for their survival against an inferior human race. The song describes the death of the last of the children, as he steps out to face the humans which are intent on destroying him by burning him at the stake. It is a deep and thought-provoking film, worthy of the song which it inspired. The story of the film is that of six children who are born at different locations around the world with amazingly high intelligence and special powers. United Nations scientists have the children moved to London for closer investigation. But while the researchers argue among themselves about the children's fate, the military tries to figure out a way to harness the youngsters' special powers for their own purpose. However, the six children decide to take matters into their own hands, which ultimately leads them to their destruction..... Up the Irons!
Bro, try Maiden’s Montsegur. It’s a hidden gem from the Dance of Death album. It’s about the catholic siege and sacking of a castle in France, and it’s fucking brilliant, and arguably their heaviest song ever.
“Black holes in his golden stare.” Intelligent, beautiful, melodic, heavy. Gotta be Maiden.
And also a clear and appreciated reference to Pink Floyd ("Now there's a look in your eyes / like black holes in the sky")
Possibly my favourite Maiden song. Hugely underrated but an amazingly powerful song. Don’t forget that Iron Maiden regularly sing about movies and books and this song is about the 1960 movie Village of the Damned and it’s sequel in 1964, Children of the Damned. Agree . In my gold collection
Agree! One of my favorites!
I adore the John Carpenter remake, probably more famous than the original movie.
22 Acacia Avenue, Revelations, Where Eagles Dare will all blow you away!
Powerslave, To tame a land, and Loneliness of the long distance runner
And quest for fire kkkkk
Long Distance is so underrated.
Power slave overrated
"The Talisman" or "Dance of Death" Live in Chile!! you'll not regret!
This and Still Life , are probably , my favourite Maiden Songs !!....CRANK IT !!!!
Still life is an overlooked gem. Even my fellow Irons ignore it. But it is definitely a bad ass song. You MUST listen!!
love still life

There is not a bad song between number of the beast, piece of mind, and Powerslave...... not one bad song.....
Bro, try Maiden’s Montsegur. It’s a hidden gem from the Dance of Death album. It’s about the catholic siege and sacking of a castle in France, and it’s fucking brilliant, and arguably their heaviest song ever.
Afraid to shoot strangers, 2 a.m, blood brothers, no more lies. The list goes on. Take your pick, there is very few songs you wont dig.
