I bought my FC last season, and hated them at first. By the third run felt like my calves had a Saw cutting into them. Purchased soccer shin guards, dropped between the boot and liner. Now, I freaking love them.
Good idea and glad that works for you.
...great review , thanks James !
Many thanks!
Your my hero
I just got my atlas 2024 bindings yesterday after riding on 2001 santa cruz bindings lol! I'm going to test them out today in snowworld indoor in the netherlands haha! Very excited for it
Good call on the Atlas. It would be great to hear your take after you do.
@@thegoodridesnow i just tested them, they are very responsive, i'm still a beginner so i needed to get used to them for about half an hour. After that, everything felt easier. Not only did i feel a lot more under me but the turn initiation was insane compared to the old ones. They are a lot more comfy to ride on aswell!
Glad you like em and thanks for your take!
Hi mate thanks for this review! I have the cafe racer from korua am keen to upgrade my ride with more response via stiffer boot and bindings. What would your advice on the boot binding combo be for the CR. I am currently on a burton ruler with union force on it, with +30 +12/15 angles, 19 inch stance as I'm short at 167cm. Love the CR150 really digging trenches now with people hiding in them 😆
No prob. So I think you could get the most bang for the buck with more responsive boots. The Rulers aren't bad out of the box but soften up over time. Going with something more responsive like the Ion or SLX but those cost a lot. The Driver X might be too much but it might work. Hey James, I'm looking for some bindings for my powder board. I ride it pretty much only in Japan in typical Japan conditions. Maybe the Atlas Pro would be a good choice over the normal Atlas?
I would go Atlas unless you only ride clean and pristine pow. If you see messy/uneven snow the Atlas Pro will not do as well.
Hey James! Just got the mega Merc. You think the atlas is better or the atlas pros would fit the ride of the mega? Would appreciate your feedback on why and such thank you!
I personally prefer the Atlas. The Atlas Pro's are a little more responsive but less damp. So if you only ride in good conditions maybe the Atlas Pro but if you are like most riders who see all kinds of conditions go Atlas.
Nice bindings! All of them. And which of them is most similar to Cartel X according to your feelings?
They are all pretty different bindings compared to the Cartel X. Two very different design philosophies. I would say even the Atlas is closest but it's more responsive, more damp (absorbs chatter better) and much more adjustable. It isn't as shock absorbent and doesn't have as easy of a flex underfoot though.
I have a question, with a k2 thraxis 10.5 boot, from the union company they say binding L, in your opinion is it possible and would it make sense to opt for an M binding considering that in the future I could replace it with a 10 boot? or better to stay on the L?
I have always used union force L until now
For the short answer best to go large but only if you have a board wide enough to support it. You don't want binding overhang. I would strongly suggest stepping back and get the right fitting boot first since everything centers around your boot in snowboarding. You don't want to be in a boot that is too large as that can really mess up your feet. Many tend to over tighten around the ankle which can cause a lot of pain and possibly long term dammage. Others blacken/break toenails because their feet slide too much inside. Go to a shoe store, get on a brannock scale and figure out your true size and width of your feet. That will help me determine what boot you should get. Best to hit me up here so I can get more detail and help you properly.
How high angle do they reasonably go without highback rotation? 30 degrees? 35?
Not sure what you mean. Do you mean how vertical are are they without high back rotation and no forward lean?
@@thegoodridesnow I mean stance angle. Sorry I wasn't clear.
Ah...copy...its marked to 30 degrees but it has grooves throughout the whole disc and disc mount so you can get any angle you want. Even weird ones.
now I am afraid I have overkilled it buying PROs haha
I hope they work for you but if not I think you can order regular Atlas gas pedals from C3 and it will make it almost like the Atlas.
@@thegoodridesnow great idea thanks! initially they are to be used on my Flagship in contrast with my Tweaker with Ultras. Hope that works out
