+Jamie I shoot all mine with rear camera on iPhone 6 and a selfie stick currently. You'd be surprised at the quality - and it's a phone, it's designed to pick up high quality sound, so that's covered too. You can also buy Lav miss etc for them...

Depends on your "level" he gives a really wide range from ameteur to pro. For the quality it gives and the needs of a pro, the 650 option is pretty reasonable. If you need to go cheap the HD webcam with a usb mic is a great option.
It is very "cheap" in comparison to the professional camcorders out there running in the $2,000+ range some use. Nevertheless, $700 is still big chunk of change. You are right there.
the nikon d3100 I use it for photography and I've recorded on it a few times its around about £150 - £200 ($280 dollars) the quality is amazing I would totally recommend it for beginners/advanced 😀

Don't know what to tell you scooter, 700 is 4 months minimum wage in my country. So what is cheap is relative. That being said, he said the "best cheap cameras for youtube videos" of which 4k really isn't necessary is it. A camera twice the price of the latest go pro would be considered expensive in my book given the available options in the market.
The rest were budget friendly he only threw in two more expensive options which are cheap compared to the high end $2,000 cameras.. You're going to get what you pay for. I'd say the $300 canon is a good option then you can save up for in only couple months for that on minimum wage.
I'm going to be teaching Crochet Fiber Art. Today I'm doing my first shoot. I'm using what I have, an old tablet (which actually takes really good video), sunlight (I have about 1 hour to shoot the 'me' time), and utility lights on a homemade white box (LOL). I'm currently looking at cameras and equipment so this video was AWESOME. Thank you for taking the time to 'show' me what the end result will look like.
There are actually some great options in IP camera systems if you are shooting in a studio. You can get 4 camera security systems for 300-400 and it is like getting 4 Go Pros without the fisheye lense that they all seem to have. Also it feeds them all directly into a DVR or computer. But like I said that is more for someone shooting on a set in a studio where you would want some different angels.

A lot of people just talk, they don't show...showing makes a huge difference in level of retained interest, I assure you. Second, I have a Nikon D3100 that I bought several years ago for photos, but it does have video...not yet used it or figured it out, but will need to for the future. Currently I put up some live stream/highlights of gaming videos...mainly to get myself used to creating anything on UA-cam. In a few months, within the next six months, I'll be traveling across the country - back and forth - will use my Nikon for some footage/vlogging, but will also need a really, really good dash cam as there will be a lot of driving. What info do you have on high quality dashcams?
The audio on the Panasonic was by far the best. Plus, it also has the 4K. 4K is great but a little overkill for Vlogging. Something that where you can plug in a shotgun mic on a hot shoe might work on an even lower-end camera.

Even in 2019 this is the best budget camera video I have found you actually gave a good range of options and prices and didn't spend all day going on and on about each feature.

Tl;Dr: Save money and stop looking at budget DSLRs. Even used DSLRs aren't cheap. Well, welcome to the world of DSLRs. If you want to save money stop looking at those and look for a camcorder or something with a hot/cold shoe mount and a mic input. I have a Canon EOS M (mirrorless, NOT DSLR). Lens and body cost $230 used. There are camcorders that come with shotgun mics on Amazon for $130. The second you bump up from a basic point-and-shoot or a webcam the prices skyrocket. Anything under $500 isn't all that good or is going to be used (which can be rather good, mind you).
PeachFuzzBandit Exaclty, I just came here for the fun of it, as I'm picking up a Sony A5000 (for £329 ( equivalent of $430 )) which seems good and has good battery life, good mic etc. There are numerous cameras under $400 that are sufficient.. I wouldn't say $700 is "budget" necessarily
2019 Podcasting. The most important factors for me are for 3 hour+ shooting, so I need long battery life and big video card that does not split the files. For example, I can shoot a video on my iPhone XR until the power runs out, around 5 hours without USB cable. The other things are lapel microphone, tripod, and lighting. 1080p creates big enough files so I dont want to shoot 4K. Any recommendations for quality but cheap podcast setups in 2019?
Thanks for the information. As a person that’s been on UA-cam since 2009 I am just really starting as my channel has started to really grow. I like the G7. I don’t have one. I use a GoPro Hero 4 and a Sony handy cam mix. Takes far too long in post editing and such but gets it don’t until an upgrade can be afforded. I am purchasing a Rode Wireless Go today. One thing I’ve learned is bad audio will get folks turned off quickly. I watch your stuff a lot to learn. At 53 it’s getting harder and harder. Keep up the great job.

I do triathlon gear reviews, from the viewpoint of a larger, heavier athlete. I've only just started a couple months ago, but I'm shopping to upgrade equipment. Right now, I just film on my Galaxy S7 smartphone with a lav mic attached. It's not the greatest set up, but it lets me get videos out.

I've taken amazing footage with it over the years, and I almost forgot that I even have a tripod and extended battery for it haha - loved the comparison video with examples. 600 may not be cheap to the average joe but when compared to a camera that is well over $1,000+ which are the REALLY good "professional" cameras but these are good alternatives that you can always budget for. That's what I'm doing. Also the first webcam he lists, I've heard other video creators talk about- and probably will be my first purchase since I will be doing more of a "course/class" related for my small creative biz. You just have to choose what works best for you, but like he said- sometimes it's great to start with what you have and work with what you have before just purchasing what every one says is the "best" camera just because it's over 1,000 bucks. Don't go by what the video standards are right now, I'm a firm believer if you have the meat & potatoes as your content, your people will stay. :)
well most youtubers have cameras that are around 1000-3000 dollars, so if you want a decent camera to get started a budget between 65-400 is reasonable

It was easy to like and subscribe because you're organized, clear and concise, and you appear to know what you're talking about. For around 160 bucks you can pick up a nikon coolpix l340. Great camera with 3 inch lcd screen and 20.2 megapixels. Just grab some rechargable batteries and a 32gb sd card with a reader and a strap plus super durable tripod totalling in at 230 bucks for a dope camera setup. Also has auto stabilization.
I use the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 for UA-cam live and Skype music lessons. I just need a stronger connection to utilize the quality of the camera. Thanks for this video!

If any of you researched a little you’d know that cameras are NOT cheap. He even says that DLSR cameras jump in price but are much better. I’ve used the cannon rebel and it’s an amazing versatile camera and SUPER easy to pick up even if you don’t understand cameras. Anything cheaper is just as good as your phone.
FlashGitz #1 Fan exactly! The price of a GoPro is mostly for its durability and waterproofing. It’s audio and video quality are nothing in comparison to a DLSR. It’s close to as good as a phone is nowadays
I don't get it. I don't see much difference from the Elph on. Really the biggest thing that stands out to me is the audio. Why does the go pro sound like cats sharpening their nails on a chalk board. I think these camera people are pulling our collective legs.

“Budget” doesn’t mean cheap. A $3,000 camera IS a budget camera compared to a $15,000 camera. “Budget” means what one is willing to spend. If you’re willing to spend $1,000 on a camera, then $650 is well under that budget.
For beginners, that first camera seemed about the same quality as my [microsoft LifeCam 3000] which was about $20 with postage (they're around $45 brand new). Basic but can't complain for the price! You can see the quality for yourself in my videos. Next I'll be making some DIY studio lights and sorting the background blur so bare that in mind if you view a current video. Hope it helps!

For a 4k camera? Dude, that's a steal. Cameras can go into the $2-5k range for top quality cameras. $700 for 4k is a deal.

2019 Podcasting. The most important factors for me are for 3 hour+ shooting, so I need long battery life and big video card that does not split the files. For example, I can shoot a video on my iPhone XR until the power runs out, around 5 hours without USB cable. The other things are lapel microphone, tripod, and lighting. 1080p creates big enough files so I dont want to shoot 4K. Any recommendations for quality but cheap podcast setups in 2019?
Thanks for the information. As a person that’s been on UA-cam since 2009 I am just really starting as my channel has started to really grow. I like the G7. I don’t have one. I use a GoPro Hero 4 and a Sony handy cam mix. Takes far too long in post editing and such but gets it don’t until an upgrade can be afforded. I am purchasing a Rode Wireless Go today. One thing I’ve learned is bad audio will get folks turned off quickly. I watch your stuff a lot to learn. At 53 it’s getting harder and harder. Keep up the great job.

Right now, I just film on my Galaxy S7 smartphone with a lav mic attached. It's not the greatest set up, but it lets me get videos out.

I've taken amazing footage with it over the years, and I almost forgot that I even have a tripod and extended battery for it haha - loved the comparison video with examples. 600 may not be cheap to the average joe but when compared to a camera that is well over $1,000+ which are the REALLY good "professional" cameras but these are good alternatives that you can always budget for. That's what I'm doing. Also the first webcam he lists, I've heard other video creators talk about- and probably will be my first purchase since I will be doing more of a "course/class" related for my small creative biz. You just have to choose what works best for you, but like he said- sometimes it's great to start with what you have and work with what you have before just purchasing what every one says is the "best" camera just because it's over 1,000 bucks. Don't go by what the video standards are right now, I'm a firm believer if you have the meat & potatoes as your content, your people will stay. :)

well most youtubers have cameras that are around 1000-3000 dollars, so if you want a decent camera to get started a budget between 65-400 is reasonable

It was easy to like and subscribe because you're organized, clear and concise, and you appear to know what you're talking about. Especially when you mention things like lifestyle and beauty videos, which, shows that you study industry related content.
I currently have a Canon G9X and I'm interested in shooting knolling photos, diy projects, ceramic arts, and desk setups. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I get overwhelmed just thinking about the process. That being said, I know that just doing the work, accepting failure, and not giving up will most likely pay off.
How do you establish a good, strong purpose for what you're doing? It seems you like to help people. How do you go about identifying people's needs?

I use a used Sony Handycam HDR-CX115E I got for about $35. It does video in 1080p and 3MP photos. The sound is ok but it needs a tripod.

If any of you researched a little you’d know that cameras are NOT cheap. He even says that DLSR cameras jump in price but are much better. I’ve used the cannon rebel and it’s an amazing versatile camera and SUPER easy to pick up even if you don’t understand cameras. Anything cheaper is just as good as your phone.
FlashGitz #1 Fan exactly! The price of a GoPro is mostly for its durability and waterproofing. It’s audio and video quality are nothing in comparison to a DLSR. It’s close to as good as a phone is nowadays

I don't get it. I don't see much difference from the Elph on. Really the biggest thing that stands out to me is the audio. Why does the go pro sound like cats sharpening their nails on a chalk board. I think these camera people are pulling our collective legs.

“Budget” doesn’t mean cheap. A $3,000 camera IS a budget camera compared to a $15,000 camera. “Budget” means what one is willing to spend. If you’re willing to spend $1,000 on a camera, then $650 is well under that budget.

For beginners, that first camera seemed about the same quality as my [microsoft LifeCam 3000] which was about $20 with postage (they're around $45 brand new). Basic but can't complain for the price! You can see the quality for yourself in my videos. Next I'll be making some DIY studio lights and sorting the background blur so bare that in mind if you view a current video. Hope it helps!
