I wasn’t sure about zve10 being branded for more video use and without an EVF but leaning toward thinking I can make it work and learn a lot with it.
I have the Pocket 3 and the video resolution and colors are amazing! The only thing it's missing for me is a longer zoom (only 4x in 1080 and 2x in 4K), but that's because I record live music where I'm not always close to my subjects. For vloggers and other people who are mainly recording themselves up close, it should be ideal.
Great video. I think the best budget camera really depends on the user, how they want to use it, and how much of a photography nerd they are or aren't. There's no perfect camera for everyone. My budget camera of choice currently is a canon eos m but I wouldn't recommend it for someone who isn't into manual settings

@thefilmalliance yes,it was the Canon M50 M2 or the Sony ZV-E10 that was recommended. I am currently looking at the R50 vs ZV-E10 (the M series being at the end of the line). I’d recommend considering a mirrorless camera, such as the Sony alpha series, or the canon EOS M series. These cameras are compact and offer excellent image quality. They also have features that will really benefit social media and content creation, such as flip out screens for blogging and easy connectivity for sharing contact directly to social media platforms.
Hi, I need your help. I want to buy a camera for a beginner, what's most important to me in a camera is to have high quality images, and it should be fast. Video is less important to me. Do you have a camera to recommend to me?
What camera would you go for if you were a DJ playing night clubs and wanted footage mainly for social media and content to keep your Instagram going? Would P3 be too fragile for a night club, would ZVE10 overheat if you needed it recording for an hour an half? Any thoughts would be great!
The ZV-E10 checks so many boxes and would be such a great choice.. if it didnt miss an EVF. The EVF gives a Camera a special feeling when using it and I would rather miss on something else than that. Fair enough though, it is mainly used for Stills and not Videography.
I have got a Sony A6400 that I have used for the last 5 years that I've done about 80,000 pictures with and 20,000 hours of video. I know I was thinking of upgrading my camera, but looking at some of the newer models, they don't seem to offer that much more than what I can do on my camera, but I would suggest for beginners looking at the same type of camera because of their age, you might be able to get it at a better price used or new than some of the new-model cameras on this list.
i never own an actual camera before beside mobile phone camera. if i wanted a camera that take close up photo of toys & diorama in 1:64, 1:18 & 1:6 scales, which are the best recommendation for my need? thx
Thats actually a great question. I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for what you are using it for. Have you taken it yet?
In terms of taking video for trips, the OP3 has been a god send. The one thing that was jarring for me was it being my first time with a fixed F/2 aperture on it. Definitely needs an ND filter bought with it. I'm hoping Sony updates the RX100 line or updates their older cameras with the new menu because using the old menu feels so rough now. Always good to see recommendations of the other brands because I have no idea what to recommend friends when they ask since I've been mostly Sony. I don't want to be biased.
One of the better, detailed videos that I found while searching for "cameras for beginners". Thanks for this. Checking out more videos marked in the description. 👍 Quick question, what lens do you recommend or have used with the Sony EV10 for astrophotography? If we go for only the body of the EV10 & Sigma lens that you mentioned, is that good or a different wider lens would suffice? Thanks in advance. ✌️
Hey there, hmmm. That tough. Every lens has its different use for different applications. Have you tried taking my lens quiz? This may get you in the right direction.
I am in a dilemma i want a camera to record dj sets for my youtube channel outdoor in the mountains … and indoor at home , what do you recommend ? Digital , pocket or action camera? And which one is the best ? Help please !🙏
Hey great content, thanks for the comparison. I think all these cameras are great to record shorter video clips on the video side. I understand these cameras all have a recording limit? What would you recommend if you want to record a one hour class, let's say a gym/yoga class or any other class that lasts an hour or more....?
Excellent video. I think you covered it. Knocked it out the park. I have a GoPro 10 black, ZV 1 M2 with a gimbal. I’m considering a 360 cam. What would you recommend? 🤭😉
I like the breakdown. I would like a camera that offers a little bit of everything for less than 700$. I like the simplicity of the GoPro 12, and the functionality of the GoPro 12, but then like the added features of the Sony Zv1f (lighting, environmental, buttons for exposure, product focus, and the space) is it waterproof? It seems like that's my only concern. I feel like the main difference is zoom distance, is that accurate? Thank you
Any suggestions for high quality guitar videos. I have the iPhone 15 which is good but it would be great to have something dedicated that I can frame myself with?? Even better if I can use it for zoom/streaming . Thanks

If you anyway edit videos use external audio recorder and sync audio just two clicks in post. Audio recorders has by far better quality than any camera build in audio electronics. It is crazy that nobody ever mention this. DJI seems noticing this and they put Real Mic (the Mic 2) to sync with Pocket 3 but it also records as standalone even Float audio and you can sync audio with any camera in post. I have Pocket 3 and Action 4 and Mic2 but only small body bigger sensor camera for stills with prime lens Canon. They all have own purpose so think it six times where you are using the camera and should it fit to the pocket or suitcase. Like.. If you shoot video in dark the Pocket 3. If you use it when raining and snow take Action 4. If you want to take excellent RAW photos for print outs take Canon. And DONT select Mirrorless by who has the most lens like Sony fan boys. You are anyway end up using 2-3 lens and soon you hate changing lenses. I'm using Canon just for ergonomics but thats just me. Just my mindflow.. But I warn you ZV-E10 is poor plastic quality and kit lens is a joke plastic peace of it. No matter how big the hype is. But anyway remember. The most important thing in video are Story, Audio and Lighting. The nerd staff is the last that matters if you are beginner. And don't jump to the lens and gimbals rabbid hole if you are not doing things for professional use. You will just end spending a lot of money every time when you notice where your mirrorless sucks. Many fixed lens cameras has a lot better image than kit lenses.

I've decided to buy the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 for everyday videos. My question now is, can it also take good photos (better than an iPhone), or do I need a separate camera? Or would the iPhone 14 be sufficient for photos? If I need a camera, which one would be suitable for beginner-level photos (holiday photos)? ty!!
Oh, and I forgot, the camera should also be social media compatible, so that you can easily transfer the photos to your phone or upload them to Instagram.😄😅
What camera should I get if I only take photos? I had the Fujifilm x100f and I loved it, but it felt a little expensive and overkill for me as a beginner, so I sold it and started taking pictures on my phone instead. But now I'm looking for a good beginner-camera that's a lot cheaper than the Fujifilm x100 series. Any tips?
Which would be best for wide angle pics/videos? I tend to like lakes surrounded by forest, so I usually take pics as wide as possible with my phone to capture as much of the landscape as possible.

thank you for this .. i currently use my P30pro , Hero and dji combo 2 , but i would like to be able to zoom into architect on buildings etc, what budget camera would you recommend ?
So many camera recommendations I see from photography creators are so incredibly video-focused which is annoying-some people just want to take great photos. I believe a photo-focused recommendation video would be great to have as well. Like some of the cameras you recommended here don’t even have IBIS which is important and very useful for photos.
Which would be best for sound & music therapy recording in nature? Also which are compatible with microphones like zoom h2n or h4n pro? Looking to make videos anywhere from 30 - 120 minutes long. 4k is not important, I find 1080p HD enough.
It depends on quite a bit more factors. I created a "Which Camera Should I Buy" course and a free camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is specifically best for you. Have you taken either yet? Hope they help!

Fantastic video as always. I have the pocket 3 for b-roll but how do you get it in 4k120? It only show me up to 4k60p
I'm gathering up some film equipment to sell so I can get the Pocket 3. The OP3 has so many applications and quality to go with it.
Canon r50 is the only one with a view finder made my decision easier than expected
Jinny, this is a great point. Maybe we will see internal NDs with the op4?
@@thefilmalliance Yeah, that would be amazing.
Great video! Keep up the good work 👍
Love the Tallahassee B Roll shots! Made my hometown look real nice!
Thanks, yes it’s a beautiful city
Good explanation and without time wasting. Thank you for this work
One of the best channels out there for camera content. Thanks so much.
Appreciate that, thank you!
One of the better, detailed videos that I found while searching for "cameras for beginners". Thanks for this. Checking out more videos marked in the description. 👍
Quick question, what lens do you recommend or have used with the Sony EV10 for astrophotography? If we go for only the body of the EV10 & Sigma lens that you mentioned, is that good or a different wider lens would suffice? Thanks in advance. ✌️
Hey there, hmmm. That tough. Every lens has its different use for different applications. Have you tried taking my lens quiz? This may get you in the right direction.
@@thefilmalliance not yet. I'll give that a try. Thanks!
Cool sounds good
I am currently 2 minutes in first ever video I have watched on you're channel, and I just want to say, super great video!
Thank you. I can't think of a better camera to finish your setup. Then you'll have something for everything, action, cinematic, and 360.
@@thefilmallianceyes sir I agree haha. 😊 I’m waiting for a future video. I got about 6 weeks so help a fella out. You’re my go to guy!
You missed the recent RF lenses produces by third-party for Canon: Tamron, SIgma and Viltrox.
Also a great tele lens for 650 euros for Canon R50.
Thank you
Good video. 1 question.. I want bay nikon z30 did my lenses from mi nikon dslr d300 and d700 wil match z30 ???!!! waiting for answer ...thank you
Thank you for the great video!
Any suggestions for high quality guitar videos. I have the iPhone 15 which is good but it would be great to have something dedicated that I can frame myself with?? Even better if I can use it for zoom/streaming . Thanks
Thats actually a great question. What’s your budget? Do you want to interchange lenses? I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for what you are using it for. Have you taken it yet?
@@thefilmalliance thanks I just tried it and it gave the Sony ZV-e10. It was in my list from watching your videos along with the Pocket 3 and some Fuji ones I’ve seen others use. I’m not sure if it’s good as a webcam for zoom lessons and streaming? I’d rather wait and spend more and just buy once and have something I can use for many years
Thanks for this recap review and for the tips
I have the sony ZV-E10 and i can say that it’s really cool and all but I already owned an iphone 15 pro max. Which sometimes outperforms the ZV-E10 except for the fact that i can’t put a 200mm lense on my phone. it does however have a 120mm
Thanks for all your expertise. Is the Pocket 3 your only camera?
@@thefilmalliance I have around 20 cameras. 3 of the I mainly use.
I like your sincere approach of small channel (in compare), and production of hugeass channel.
Thank you, I'll think about this cameras.
I want to start doing street shooting and videography in Ottawa, wanna prove that it is an interesting city
What would be the most suitable from those for filming macro indoor (like a bunch of toys)?
I prefer the ZV-E10 for that
@@thefilmalliance thanks for recommendation!
Hey mate, thanks for the awesome video!
I want to take videos and photos for my USA West Coast road trip with my wife this summer. I'm a beginner and I'm doing it for fun and personal use.
This video is helping me make a decision.
Any tips?
What camera would you suggest for downward facing drawing videos for a beginner? So I would be shooting down above my work stabilized.
Which would be best for wide angle pics/videos? I tend to like lakes surrounded by forest, so I usually take pics as wide as possible with my phone to capture as much of the landscape as possible.
I'm currently using a Canon 77D with a Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 lens and am looking to upgrade to a Canon mirrorless body within a budget of $1000-$1500. I mainly want to use it for (Corporate/Institutional) Photography in conferences, meetings, seminars, outdoor activities, and some video interviews (Corporate).
Which camera model would you recommend that would pair well with my existing lens and provide a significant upgrade in terms of features, performance and budget? Thanks!
Please give your views on the Fujifilm XT-30II.
Between Sony ZV-E10 and Fujifilm XT-30II which one should I opt for, I am a beginner in the field of photography.
Ah, good one. I hope to make a course on that subject matter. Keep an eye out for it!
@@thefilmalliance I'll keep an eye out for the course.
Sorry for the rush, but I am planning a purchase this weekend, any tips and suggestions will be helpful.
Pss. what's the name of the slider thingie that the camera was on? We need recommendations on that and others like it. Same with portable lightning, tripods, mike, memory cards, gymbol/gimbal. Budget recommendations ofcourse.
Great video. Quick questions Can the osmo pocket 3 be used as a live camera? Such as a live input to vmix obs via usb? Would it work well for someone trying to do an indoor interview? Thanks
What would be a good camera to take photos and record some video at a youth baseball game?
You raised a good question about the Pocket 3. Can iMovie edit the footage? I can edit 4k files taken on my iPhone on a MacBook Pro. Can I start in fully auto with the OP3 and not have to worry about ND filters?
I don't think you will have an issue with your MacBook Pro. Yes, go full auto without NDs when your starting out but then you'll have to get some NDs down the road
You have great narrative
Hi i want to start in photography and i found an Zv e10 for 130 bucks. Is ir worth to buy ?
Where go for it
!
I think in zve10 at 4k 30fps there is bit less rolling shutter. i think its a option to avoid rolling shutter
Im looking to some sports photography and im trying to find a decent budget camera, would something like the r50 or z30 work well or am i better off with something like a z5 /z50?
which one do you prefer for top down video shots + connected to the computer to record
Osmo Pocket 3 actually. I not sure it records to the computer but it puts out a great top down video shot
Great Video Bro! Easy simple and understand-able 😅 just like me, photography enthusiast 👍 and now learn on videography
Great, good, glad to hear. Thanks for the feedback. Which camera did you end up going with?
Hi, I’m a student and I have 4 years of college in front, i just want to learn about photography videography and editing, but i can just give 1 hour a day. Is it worth to buy ZVE10 mark 2 or buy Nikon z30/ZVE10 with Final Cut pro and a headphone which I want. I don’t have to upload anything, I just want to learn all those colour grading and stuff. Please guide me.
@thefilmalliance What do you recommend from the mentioned camera for studio lighting, like you are sitting in? But also good for outdoor pictures & videos (not vlogging) but shooting on the go scenic scenes.
Thats hard to say. It depends on what you’re using them for. I created a “Which Camera Should I Buy” course and a free camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for you. Have you taken either yet?
thank you for this .. i currently use my P30pro , Hero and dji combo 2 , but i would like to be able to zoom into architect on buildings etc, what budget camera would you recommend ?
I have a gopho12. Now i understood, best thing is go to i phone. All in one
Canon R50 or Nikon Z30 for mainly photography use? The photographs would be mostly the peoples faces. Thank you.
Have you taken my camera quiz? That may help you. I left a link in the description.
What's the name of that sliding rail thingy thst moved his camera horizontally?
A table dolly

I have an old nikon j1. I can't find much info to determine if it's any good for making youtube style videos
Hmm, the best thing you could do is practice with it and learn the basics but yes I think you should be able to
I want to buy a camera for my wife Xmas present... interchangeable lenses under or around 400$ where to start
Can you tell me the name of the slider you are using with the Sony ZV-1f?
Well explained! I have an Insta 360. So I am looking for a camera just for wild life photography. My budget is around USD 850. Thanks.
Does the Sony actually have more lens selection than canon? Even with the EF adapter for canon?
one more question, what lens are you using with the nikon z30 when you are capturing the ant on the leaf. thanks man
Whats up? I used the Nikon Z 24-70mm f/4 S. Do you have the Z30?
So many camera recommendations I see from photography creators are so incredibly video-focused which is annoying-some people just want to take great photos. I believe a photo-focused recommendation video would be great to have as well. Like some of the cameras you recommended here don’t even have IBIS which is important and very useful for photos.
Great information !
I make gym videos for my social media. Currently I shoot videos with my friend's Iphone 14 pro max. Would Sony ZV-E10 be a better option provided I learn colour grading and stuff?
Did you end up getting one ?
I need one for photographing formula 1. Any suggestions on a lens and body? I don't need to take close ups

Is the cannon eos m200 a good beginner camera good for photography?
I would say yes for sure. What have you shot with so far?
@@thefilmalliance I’ve used the canon powershot older model, but been looking to upgrade for some time now.
