The bike I have has crash bars with the small spot lights, crash passenger foot pegs that are a solid steel peg that don't move, and has the luggage rack and a aluminium square box with a slightly padded rear on the box for passenger comfort.. I think the crash protection was added after who ever dropped it to do the hap-Hazzard repairs they did to cover up the mess with stickers.
just found your video here in March 2024. I bought myself a 2010 fuel injected model of this machine with 7400 miles on it, here in the USA. I am experiencing what feels like the key being shut off when I roll the throttle on at low RPMs at times. It may be the spark plug caps.. Honda was going to do a worldwide recall on those cabs and I found out while reading a blog put out by deauville owners.. have you had any of those hesitations with your machine or have you replaced the spark, plug caps, if you did replace the caps, did that cure the issue? also my machine has an adjustable windshield height when they went to the 700 model. So I’m not sure if this will help you about the windshield buffing. But the windshield that came on my machine it was put on by the original owner is made by a company called CEE. BAILEY (spelling??) I must say that the wind coming over the windshield is smooth from this windscreen. I put a taller windscreen on my Kawasaki Z 400 , it is 5 inches taller than the screen it came with, but it’s still and the air right at my chest. That is annoying on long rides at high-speed such as on the interstates.. my big Mike is a Venture, and I have to look through that windshield, which I got used to. I prefer to be able to look just over the top of the windshield, and that’s where the C, Bailey windshield is when I have it adjusted all the way up on my NT 700.. I would appreciate hearing if you had those hesitation problems, which made you have to change the spark plug caps or if you have had the sparkly caps changed by the dealer years ago on a recall. They weren’t really recalled officially, but when your bike would go into some dealerships they would change them at no charge if your machine was in there for just about any other little thing.. My new spark plug caps should be here this week.. I hope that is the issue.. One other quirk, these machines are known for iamb finding out on the Internet, is, water pump issues, caused by the silicates in antifreeze, wearing the impeller shaft, seal, and the impeller shaft itself. Have you had an issue with that? I would like to hear from someone that has earned one of these machines for a long time. I just picked my machine up from the original owner in November 2023.
My bike can be a bit sluggish on the throttle when it is cold, but never to the point of stalling. I haven't heard of the anti freeze problem, though I don't need to use anti freeze as freezing isn't an issue where I live. Best of luck with your bike.
Thank for the Low Screen advice..I have an '86 Goldwing and there is little or no Buffeting...good Video and thanks for it..I want a Deauville as second Bike for general running around.
@@paddlefisher I bought a Deauville with the tall touring Screen...it reaches to just below Eye Level... no Buffeting.....it is a genuine Honda Screen..
No fuel gauge or at least a low fuel warning light for a 2005 touring model?? Thats a dealbreaker!! I would get the NT700 and also get the efi as a bonus. However, the 650 engine is more then large enough and it will go faster then what is allowed in any country. (besides Germany ofcourse) btw, your bike looks great. Best regards from Denmark.
At Andy, and the amount of times on older bikes you included probably, I've been caught mid bend, traffic ect and hit reserve and usually a sudden slow down. And if there's cars behind you they don't know, they just see a bike slowing no reason with no brake light, bloody scary. I'll have a gauge.
19L tank, mines this Blue that they call "Sevilla Blue", honda's paint code is PB-297M, it looks purple (ugly).. I'm not to keen on the paint, guy that I bought it off said previous owner dropped it and cracked up a lot of the mid faring on the right side, that who ever did it had the idiocy of bandaging it up with fibreglass strips on the inside.. I went to fix where they didn't, all I use for such repairs is superglue and baking soda, on the outside of it they tried to cover up with stickers, which I removed to see the real damage.. going to use a bog on all the cracks.. and spray to get it cosmetically correct.. bloody spray cans of the ugly colour cost near $60 aud. My thinking is it will probably be cheaper to spray the lot in a different paint.. oh also.. both the paniers locks are broken, and replacing the paniers was about $400 each.. of a totally different colour.. as is why I am thinking of a repaint.. the bike NT650v3 was only $2700 for a 2003.. I thought it was a bargain until I got it, still will be worth it as others I have seen go for about 3500 to over 4k.. fairings are hens teeth. I have only found 1 of the mid section fairings, that some one has reproduced in fiberglass. www.ebay.com.au/itm/160736163996 Doesn't post to Australia.. bugger.
I've got a 2001 model with a higher screen, I'm about 5'9", terrible buffeting, does anyone know if the screens you see with the vent holes down low prevent this?
If you have the genuine screen it should have two kidney shaped vent holes near the bottom. Mine has these and no buffeting. Having said that, a lot of buffeting comes from below screens. As you are riding try holding your hand flat near the tank in different positions and see if that makes an difference. Many cruisers like harleys actually make fork wind deflectors to stop this.
This is a great warts and all review, thank you. I'm looking at this for my first big bike after my test, I reckon it'll be perfect for what I need
Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it. Hope you find a good bike to get started on!

Not a bike person but definitely a Honda fan. Reputation speaks for itself.
Yep, Hondas are pretty much bullet proof.

If you're 185cm, there is no buffeting at all, touring screen will give you buffeting. Fuel gauge...no big deal, just reset the trip.
Yep, just reset the trip meter, as stated in the video.

Fair point mate, if I used mine as a tourer instead of a commuter I would tend to agree with you. Cheers!
It has a reserve tank..much more reliable than a fuel gauge! Also buy a screen extension\deflector.

Sounds like it needs a bit of work, still it will be worth it when she is good as new again.

Possibly, could be worth having a chat with your local Honda dealer.

Hi.. R the panniers detachable
