As a "Germanic" Man (Anglo-Swede) this hits my heart. If you feel like this makes you wanna cry fear not. It's only the old Gods shaking the church out of you. :)
Hail to the Old Gods and Goddesses, As Half English Half Scandinavian this causes me to feel the gods deep inside and brings me to the Ancestors crying within i love this so much Halsa Valang
Cool reaction. I love starting part with Aurora with transition into Aurora singer voice. Rest of the song is all about beautiful harmonies. Aurora voice adds a lot of ethereal - love it. Also like Viking vibe and the moral of the song (of course especially in perspective of Viking times).
Nice reaction🤗 The song is sung in Norwegian, except for the last part in acapella which is in Old Norse😊 “Helvegen” (path/road to Hel) amongst other songs from Einar Selvik (vocalist/songwriter) are played in the Vikings series. In one scene you can see Einar standing on land singing “Helvegen” while the vikings are sailing off to England 😍 In Norse mythology, Hel is an underground realm of the dead where it was believed that most people ended up when they died. In Norse cosmology, north is the direction towards cold and death. It is therefore understandable that Hel is cold and intractable, and that the road there leads "north and down". Hel is also the name of the ruler of the underworld. She is motherly and terrifying, and her skin is part blue-black like that of a corpse and part human-colored. She is very greedy and does not easily give up the dead who end up with her. In the time of the Norse Pagans in Norway they had a tradition of singing Death Songs. These songs would talk of all the good and wonderful things the person who was dying had done in their lives. These songs would be sung to help the dying to cross over the resounding bridge and on into the afterlife. It was also a way of insuring that the person's memory would never die. Sadly with the introduction of Christianity this tradition was lost.
Thunder rolls, lightning strikes, and the hammer flies across the sky. God of the weather, chariot of the storm, Master of rain and torrents, Son of the strength of Mother Earth, I ask you to grant me that strength for myself. You who are so great that you cannot walk across the Rainbow Bridge without breaking it. You whose tree is the mighty oak. Thör grant me that unending sturdiness. Let me not break beneath the blows of misfortune. Keep me from being crushed when the giants stomp their large feet on the smaller ones below. You who are the Guardian of the common man. You who care for the farmers and workers, look upon me here in this place where I am. Only one of many, and protect my steps. Make me resilient and mighty as your own arm. Make me unbreakable, you who are friend of man. I ask for one small percentage of the vigor of the right arm of the Thunderer that I might brave the tempest and stand firm in the gales. Thunder rolls, lightning strikes, and the hammer flies across the sky.

An even better version is performed in a quarry where the acoustics are unbelievable. It is somewhere on UA-cam.

The word Helvegen means the road to the afterlife.
Heathen and proud.
Hail Odin.
"Hel" is the Norse afterlife.
Great reaction F 🇳🇴👍
