Wow this is great. I just got one of these today and made my first samples with it. Its so much more versitile than my Roland S10. Im pretty excited about the possibilities
That was very interesting thanks. I always wanted a 'real sampler' when I was a kid with an Amiga. I had a sampler cartridge that I used heavily though, lot's of very bad drum b bass efforts were made, none anywhere close to what you are producing thought - much respect!
hiya mate sorry to both you but have another question ;-)- so the block am working on is set to a high resolution of 256 lines - i now want to work on a different block so have copied the bits from say block 4 to block 5 - i now want to work on a lower resolution with less lines on block 5 - however when i shrink the block everything goes out of whack. I am presuming you can change the speed per block to compensate for this? however i cant work out how to do it. any ideas? haha ;-)
There is a speed command but much easier to not use shrink and expand. Simply type 128 in the box where the number of lines in your block is displayed and it will reduce the number of line to that amount without messing everything up.
@@12BITJuNGLEOuTTHeRe hi mate but when i copy say a break beat over from previous block it plays it out of sync. or do i just have to manually draw the notes in everytime?
Hiya mate just got home. The mistake I was making was hitting expand and shrink when I did that it was throwing the timing off. Typing in the number worked. Cheers
Hey man ... what's your thoughts on the Akai s2000 compared to other Akai rack samplers ? I think is not that bad .... S3000 are crap , S1000 are to thin sounding , 950 is a classic (as we all know)
Sadly I’ve not had the pleasure of using anything but the s2000 and s950. I love them both for different reasons. The S2000 gets a bad rap for the small screen but I honestly don’t find it anymore of a issue working on as the s950. Once you have a workflow and know where your menus are it’s all good. 👌
I have some S2000, S3000XL and CD3000XL. They are all the same but with different screen, outputs and drives. Same motherboard as well. What works best for you is what you are used to use, I think. If you know the order and grouping of menus, then you are fine with both. You will learn fast, it is no rocket science. The screen of the S2000 will last you for years. The S3000XL screens wear out faster and you need some soldering skills to fix it. And S3000XL display inverters get whiny and are expensive to replace nowadays.
people are beter off geting one of the older akai samplers for amens breaks they sound better and not so much of a pain in the arse i used to have one of these in the 90s its a nightmare going through all the menu you can do things so much quicker in the box
I disagree 😁 The s2000 is easy to get around once you find your flow. Also the sounds you get out of it if you use it properly are punchy af and different to in the box (I’m not anti ITB though). Saying that I do love my s950. That too has a sweet spot!
