I bartended in a huge three-level nightclub in the 80s, and management decided to book live acts once a month to bring in fresh crowds. First and biggest act was JJ&BH. They ran a tight ship, professional and well organized. Only a couple of roadies, so the band pitched in to help set up gear. Every single person was polite, approachable, and hard working. They clearly just wanted to have a great, entertaining, no-drama show. So nice.
That's what separates the survivors from the wash outs in that business. The ones who really wanna make it do the work. The wash outs always have excuses.
That's the way Tracy Bonham was. She set her gig up and had one guy there playing cello. She was doing a sports bar gig in Austin and I talked with her for a couple of hours before she performed.
In the 1990’s at Shades (small club) in Orange Park Fl the band was more than an hour late getting started. A group of us got a little rowdy. Nothing serious. Their bouncers removed us. The cost of a ticket was only $10-15 . I never got close enough to see her again. It’s not too late Joan? I’m still a fan . I held onto my original Runaway albums.
I remember her performing for all the Sailors and Marines stationed in Okinawa on the 4th of July back in 2003. It was hot and humid so she took her top off. I still remember her stopping the music and telling all the Sailors and Marines "thank you for protecting our freedom". I bet you'd never hear that kind of patriotism out of any musical performer nowadays.
I love the energy she brings to her songs. So fucking awesome, one of the many reasons why she's one of my rock n' roll musicians. Nobody can play or sing a song like Joan Jett.
I was a Runaways fan back when it all started. It's great to see that Joan and Lita are still rocking in their own unique ways. Cherie, the last I saw, was using chainsaws to make wood sculptures. RIP Sandy.
I absolutely love Joan Jett, and even though she is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I feel she is still underrated... she is an icon and a true living legend.. AND STILL PERFORMING!!! We are lucky to have her in our world! ❤
I bought all her old albums. Lots of good songs you never hear. Very impressed. Friends saw her live and thought she was great. This was when Letterman was great before he went corporate at CBS in '93.
Well... I wouldn't had been 17.. but I'm certain my 9 or 10 year old self sent Joan Jett at least once!!! Lol! I was so stoked after I got signed up in the Joan Jett fan club!!! I remember when those amazing large photos of my favorite rock star showed up with a guitar pick and wallet size photo for what I believe was the photo she used on the Dirty Deeds album cover??? She has her fingers tucked into her shirt!!! Oh my 4th grade self was in love like nobody's business!!!! Lol! She was one of if not the first rock concert I'd ever been to. My dad took me. Must had been around 1987 or 88.. was in Rochester Minnesota!!! God I loved JJ and the Blackhearts!!!
Saw then round the same time too. Was 17 and totally blown away by the crunchy guitar rhythm. Then crimson and clover filled the entire stadium. Made a bootleg and played that tape over and over after the show. It was so awesome just wished I had money for a tee shirt to remember the gig by.
RIP Alan Merrill. He was the writer of, and lead singer on, the first released version of the song "I Love Rock 'n' Roll", which was recorded by his band the Arrows in 1975. The song became a breakthrough hit for Joan Jett in 1982.

Felton Berrios Joan has always rocked covers. She's a great girl rhythm player, but Lita Ford is the greatest female lead guitarist. Joan's talent is awesome, except writing. She's been basically the best ever tribute to the bands she covered. I'm sure now she regrets the Gary Glitter covers she did.
she's just a great rhythm guitar player! I think VH1 and Rolling Stone magazine came up with a list of the hundred greatest guitar players of all time Joan Jett was number 3 behind John Lennon and number 1 was Chuck Berry. I think that says it all!
I love Joan Jett. She is bad ass and a true rocker. I also like the Runaways. It's too bad they had to break up. But I am happy Joan Jett had a Hall of Fame career. She is also hot.
Bad ass rocker. With beautiful entrancing eyes. Back in 1980 when Houston Astroworld existed saw her play there. I was two deep from her. Those eyes are just mesmerizing

She was both crazy hot and down to earth at the same time. Not easy to do.

She is not really into guys though.
She is in the "Unicorns Zone" in the hot-crazy matrix.
Lemmy would have loved her.if he knew her.
