Hey AWEme fans! Glad you're liking our build - this is our take on the Jurassic Park Amber Egg and as always, there are many creators out there with many different versions of similar props (shout out to Peter Brown). Hope you enjoy the video!
People thinking it was a "stolen idea" need to realise firstly Peter Brown wasn't the first person to make a replica of this ( the film is over 20 years old) and also that it clearly takes a while to shoot and edit these videos meaning this was probably done if not before Peter Brown made his video then at least before he posted it. TL;DR Peter Brown didn't invent this method of making this and Vinny didn't "steal" this idea.
This is a direct reply from Vinny on the matter of copying Peter Brown's idea that I thought Id share here so more people could see it! Timing can always be an issue when people have very similar videos release right around each other! Reply from Vinny Logozio: Given that Peter's video came out last week, I know it seems like we might've copied the idea - but we actually filmed this just over a month ago, and had no contact with Peter (although I do subscribe, and I'm a big fan of his work) regarding the idea, method, or script. The idea to make this came from thinking of what to make and talking with my Dad about what would be cool. Like I say in the video - it's been something I've wanted to make for a long time. If you watch Peter's video - he molds a nice big brick of the resin, and then machines it down into the shape. The method I'm using here is closer to what others have done do make an amber egg, by silicon molding around a final egg shape. But most projects I've seen have used 2 part molds to get it done. I haven't seen one yet that was a 1 part mold, so hey I thought it would be cool to bring to the channel.
The comment section is surreal. Easy to tell that none of them are makers, students of art or craft, have no understanding what 'replication' is, and believe that ideas and methods of creation are inherently owned by the one individual they've every seen do those things. Anyway, really appreciated this video. Strong work getting the eggs out of the molds. Lol.
Seriously people stop commenting that Vinny took Peter Brown's idea! Awe me said that they filmed this episode before his video came out, it's a coincidence. (And they're both awesome)
It's not even about stealing anyone's idea, if you're going to make one of these this is simply how it's done, this is the procedure. That's like saying anyone who makes one of these is also stealing the idea, no, they're simply doing it one of the only ways it can be done.
Fun Fact: I AM a Moldmaker and do that kind of stuff (silicone molds and resin works) for a living :D But sadly I just do molds for machines and industrial stuff ;) But it's always fun to watch you guys from AWE me! Keep that awesome work up!
Why is everyone hating on this vid. They did a great job of re-creating the prop. Also Peter Brown used a lathe, a tool many people don't have, and can't afford. This was and easier option, and I'm pretty sure they didn't copy him. Also that's like commenting on Peter Brows video and saying "You stole this from Jurassic Park."
Yes Peter Brown recently did the same project as this guy but that shouldn't invite people to slam him for 'copying' peter, I think we should be supporting anybody who wants to explore a creative outlet. Peter Brown's was great and this guy's is great too, I give them both mad props ;D

Its very possible Prop Shop made this video because they saw Peter's, but you can't base a claim that 'Prop Shop copied him for cash and views.' Besides, they didn't even use the same methods, this video features mold making, and Peter's featured carving the resin on a lathe, that part definitely can't be considered copying. Yes, its possible they are trying to copy Peter, but I don't think its fair to jump all over them the way so many commenters are, I'd rather try to give them the benefit of the doubt.
We shot this video just over a month ago, and just as a heads up - it actually takes much longer than 10 days for us to pick an idea, plan it out, get the right materials, do any pre filming experiments, shoot it, and then edit. The coincidence here is crazy, and when I saw his video drop last week, I immediately thought "This is beautiful. Also, everyone is going to think we copped his idea". But it truly wasn't the case.
I enjoyed the vid as well as Peter Brown's, it was fun seeing two separate teams coincidentally tackle the same projects with different methods. Maybe you should give him a shoutout in your vid description to avoid some backlash ^u^;
I think it would have been nice to see the full cane build, but this was still really entertaining and educational. I had never heard of wet sanding until now, and it will definitely come in handy with a project I'm working on! Thanks, Vinny!
Great presentation for a really fun project! Also, it's always so cool to see someone use their correct hand rather than their right hand. (I'm a leftie myself.) Keep being awesome!
Just saying, these are obviously 2 very different method of making them. Peter cast the bug in a rectangle piece of resin and later refine it down to an egg. Vinny is straight away cast the orb in an egg shaped mold. Peter's is more experienced and the end product is clearer and neat. Vinny's is more like first timer and the result is rather messy and it carried the messiness of what a real ember would have. Stop being a mindless 12 yrs old fanboys ok?
To everyone whining about the fact that this is a rip off of Peter Brown, both of them used different methods and this method is one that everyone can use because not everyone has a damn turntable at home so stop complaining, it's not like they're the first people who have made it like this
this is what we called fanboys wars on the internet nowadays~ fanboys are just cry babies with 0 reasoning power, 0 logical thinking, cry and bitching all the time. no point arguing with them. just a waste of time. The worst part is most of these 12 years old often miss understand the concept of "copyright" and "freedom of speech" they often just bend it to their own favour.. And this is the risk for being a celebrity or a public figure.. where everything can gone wrong and spread like cancer at a friction of a second..
I'm glad Vinny presented this in a way that is accessible to beginners. Unfortunately, doing it this way will have UA-camrs calling him a "cheap Peter Brown". Doing it the same way as Peter Brown will have UA-camrs calling him a copy cat and a crook. Finding a 100% unique way to do an expert quality of this will have UA-camrs complaining that it's too hard and not worth their time. Oh well.
Peter Brown's statement: "Pocket83 and I were talking about this in Feb as were rushing down the finish line to our release date. We were sweating getting our build out before another one popped up on UA-cam. I know AWE ME you didn't copy my project. I doubt you guys had ever seen a video of mine before today! Just a crazy coincidence!" Now go away you 12 year old whiners.
Check Vinnys Instagram in the description, he has a picture of him doing the mold 7 weeks ago. Proof that he didn't copy Peter Browns video that came out 1 week ago. Both were lovely props!
From building model and dealing with clear parts, toothpaste works well (paste not gel) once clean and dry, dip the part in future floor wax and let dry. This gives a great clear part and shine, Future is an Acrylic and drys hard and added bonus it's readily available and cheap.
Edit: They didn't take anything from him (yay, they're not the bad guys). They just shoot stuff in bulk and this just came out at an unlucky time. If you really need proof; vinny his instagram (in their description) has a pic of 7 weeks ago whilst he was pouring the mold (thanks to Sylveon17 for pointing this out to me as well since I didn't know this and I bet many others don't either). You can pretty much ignore my original comment at this point. Just sucks this happened at the worst time for them. Original: As much as it was done slightly differently here (single mold instead of using a lathe to round off a square molded piece of resin) it looks (not saying it is like that, but it does look) a lot like there were some notes taken from Peter Brown on this one. I am assuming there was some research done on how to do this before you did it was done on the channel so I (and most likely many others) will assume you guys took notes from him. Maybe just give him some credits or a shoutout in one way or another. I am not saying you guys stole the idea or even the methods from him (even if you did, it'd be scummy but wouldn't make it his right alone to make a vid showing this), but this the techniques used to get this effect are awfully similar to what he did. You might want to point out like "hey we took notes from this guy" or "hey someone else also did it in a similar way go check that out". I can't imagine it being pure coincidence since if you would look up how to do this he is pretty much the only thing that'll pop up on either youtube or google (until you guys did this vid) so either you guys found it and are being a bit scummy on this one, or there should be a better research theme. Overall I tend to quite like this series. The props aren't always accurate which is a bit of a nitpick from me, but they are great as inspiration for people wanting to make stuff themselves at a low cost, so to see stuff like this which was either lack of research (I hope) or straight up scummy is makes me a little sad.
Oh well , fair enough. Like I said in my main comment. Never meant to imply he would purposly steal the techniques or ideas from Peter Brown. Sometimes two people just have similar ideas I guess. Good to know though. Hope more people see it because it did legitemitly make me go a little sad when I saw everyone hating here purely because Peter Brown "did it first". Bad luck on the channels part in this case.
Ya, all the 'hate' this is getting is just sad. So many other prop channels have done this but just because this channel is more popular and PB posted his just a week ago people are getting really upset. I wish people would take the time to research like I did to see if this was filmed before the other was posted. It only took me five minutes to find the picture on his instagram.
It's people not doing research like you said, but to be fair neither did I. It's why I voiced my first comment so carefully because I of course couldn't be sure of anything. It does suck to see how no one else seems to do it though. They instantly think it was on purpose and couldn't have been a fluke. In the end I guess the lesson to take from all this is; Do your research or voice stuff carefully to avoid being a total asshat :') Also thought I'd put it here that I edited my original comment to include the info you pointed out to me. Hope that when people somehow scroll across this comment chain they'll also see it.
Yes, Peter did it before Prop Shop. You know who did it before Peter? The prop master for the movie. Chill out guys, I love Peter's videos too but its good for people to see 2 ways of doing the same thing, it can be a good learning experience to see the techniques and how they turn out.
YEAH ANOTHER VIDEO THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING! I REALLY DONT GET IT WHY PEOPLE MAKE SUCH A BIG DEAL BOUT COPYING SOMEONE ?! EVERY OTHER DIY IS SOMEHOW A "COPY" OR WHATEVER !?!?
Hey, it takes us much, much longer than a week to make build and edit a video. I appreciate the concern, as I don't like copycats either - but we filmed this over a month ago, with no connection to Peter's build. If I knowingly used something of his, I would've given a shout out (and that goes for all builders). The timing was just unfortunate. But hey, I hope you can learn a new technique from each video.
+ FBN Hey there! We usually bulk tape these builds and it happened to roll out right after Peter's build. He did a great version of the Amber Egg and we're glad you are a fan of both of us!
+Elder Eggplant Peter is a fantastic prop maker and we have high regards and respect for those in the prop community however our takes on this particular build were different. Our series is more focused on the do-it-yourself element. As much as we'd love to film an episode, edit and upload within a span of a week, we have a lot of other videos in the process of being created.
Elder Eggplant Someone's a little nut sucker for Pete...I'm a fan of Peter Brown's, too, but seriously, loosen up; someone else, yeah, I know, it's hard to believe, did the resin-encased mosquito before Peter. *bites knuckle* Oh, I know, it's so difficult!
Elder Eggplant silicone molding and resin is the universal way to make this kind of props. pros do that in films. Adam Savage showed that on Tested several time
omg is there one comment that doesn't have name "Peter Brown" in it lol srly Edit: just used the search from site and theres over 230 comments with the name "peter brown" lol
meh Peter Brown's was way better! As soon as I saw the title of this video, I immediately was like cool! They're doing a version of Peter's prop! It'd be neat to see him get the channel exposure from a bigger channel like AWE! Much to the detriment of AWE that they didn't give him any credit for his idea...
I specifically got on my phone to leave a comment about how it's a coincidence that this came out of no where after Peter Brown did it. glad there are others that recognized it as well
Hey given that Peter's video came out last week, I know it seems like we might've copied the idea - but we actually filmed this just over a month ago, and had no contact with Peter (although I do subscribe, and I'm a big fan of his work) regarding the idea, method, or script. It takes us much, much longer than a week to plan, film, and edit an episode - and I would absolutely give credit to those that inspire builds, every time. Peter's build was gorgeous, and we did ours without knowing he was doing one as well.
I've seen a couple of videos on making this prop, and i have to say that this is something that will actually benefit from slight variations and mistakes since the resin is meant to mimic amber. one guy i watched had the amber perfectly clear, perfectly uniform, with no blemishes or bubbles whatsoever, so it immediately looks fake. Amber has all kinds of junk caught in it, and obviously you don't want stuff blocking the bug and making it look like a mess, but a few bubbles, some cracks or inconsistent color would actually really improve the piece.
every video ever unless you go back to the start of UA-cam will have similarities. everyone saying that "blank" did this too, yeah probably... so what, is every video game channel copying off someone, or makeup channel or whatever.... seriously you're all just being annoying for no reason.
Damn Vinny! I`ve been watching DIY Prop Shop since the beginnig and I noticed NOW that you`re left handed. I love every episode of this show, you really give us good tips, which helped me many times in making stuff. Since Guardians of the galaxy is pretty close, i would LOVE to see something related to it, like Yondu`s yaka arrow, Star Lord`s helmet, or blasters, or maybe Rocket`s gun that he uses in the movie. Also the part where get the eggs out of the silicone mold, reminds me of something veeery different
The big thing is Peter's channel only has about 410,000 subscribers and the video in question has about 315,000 views at the moment. With AWE they have 5 million subscribers and this video will probably get near a million views. In the UA-cam world that is some income disparity ... the classy thing to do would be to link Peter's content and Pocket83 since they collaborated on this idea first. They spent nearly two years on this and could benefit from the View, Share and like Monetization traffic
If you check Vinny's Instagram in the description, he has a picture of him pouring the mold 7 weeks ago. It is a coincidence. Beside the fact that the way they did tings here is far easier for normally equipped people.
Hey I commented on the extreme coincidence below at length - but we filmed this just over a month ago, with no contact with Peter Brown. We don't crank these videos out in under a week - although I wish we could!
I went over to watch Peter Brown's video to see what all the fuss was about and the only similarity is that they both made a mold and used resin w/ amber dye. Yes, they both used real bugs, but Peter goes into depth about trying so hard to find his. FWIW, this is DIY Prop Shop--Do-It-Yourself. Peter Brown's method is hardly DIY friendly and it took him 18 months to complete (by his own admission).
I did this a few years ago for a science project. I didnt use resin though, I used a thing called "fake water" that I you use on model train sets. Heat it with a heat gun, add your colouring and voila. Ready to pour amber. I used a leaf instead of a bug though. Science teacher was really impressed as it was the first (and only) piece of homework I did ;)
All the Peter Brown comments are BS. No, he took 18 months, said you had to catch your own bugs, and showed a method using 100x more effort and cost using milling machines and carbide tools. Not exactly doing it first and not really a DYI without a shop.
Allen Chellasamy If DYI only means you do it yourself no matter what tool you use and how long.. ANYTHING could be called a DYI. It is not practical for 99% of people to do it the way Peter did it.
This method was front page of reddit last week. It's "hot" right now. I don't think they'd lose any credibility by just saying "Peter Brown did this and check out his video after ours".
+TwX Edge Thanks for being a fan! We bulk shoot these builds so it just so happened to roll out right after Peter's - but glad you're keeping tabs on us both!
Oh noooo, he used a common method of doing something like someone else did. He's obviously stealing ideas! Spoiler alert: Search how to make anything on youtube and there will be countless tutorials and a vast majority will use similar if not the exact same techniques. You people are beyond petty.
peter was asked to attempt a cane build by a youtuber which he credited at the beginning of his build and also the vid he put out was a long time ago not recently just so people know there are over 100 videos of this build and Peter Brown's shop time video was not even the best one
All the Peter Brown comments are BS. No, he took 18 months, said you had to catch your own bugs, and showed a method using 100x more effort and cost using milling machines and carbide tools. Not exactly doing it first and not really a DYI without a shop.
nope did Peter give credit to those who did it before him .i saw a video of a mask making diy and they didnt give credit to the thousands of people who also did mask making vids. you people are whats wrong with our world today always bitching and jumping on the band wagon to be cool. and to be clear i mean all the P.Brown comments that are present this is for you cry babies
+nicksfix8609 ok so he did give credit to one of the 36 youtube channels that did attempt this build but he was specifically asked to try by the credited youtuber
I read some of the comments and went to see the video of the guy mentioned, aside the outcome of the complete cane was awesome, Vinny's version is more budget wise if we can say it like that, the other one is more on a more elaborate way with "pro-tools", was a co-op for making the whole thing and seeing the time consumed for both videos is a very funny coincidence, but both versions are pretty good, so I don't know why many people are so salty ._.
+swagermuffinz Hey! We love our fellow prop makers and definitely get inspiration from them but in this case, we bulk shoot our videos so this just so happened to go up right after his but thanks for being a fan!
All the Peter Brown comments are BS. No, he took 18 months, said you had to catch your own bugs, and showed a method using 100x more effort and cost using milling machines and carbide tools. Not exactly doing it first and not really a DYI without a shop.
You know.. Instead of trying to squeeze the egg/resin out of the mold, you could always just cut the mold right to the egg in a zig-zag pattern, and then just fit it back together with clamps. That way you can just peel it apart without ruining your mold. You wouldn't have to worry about trying to force something large through a small hole.
First off, Hammond's cane was a white bamboo cane. Something rather easy to get ahold of without the topper. Secondly, if you want an easy way to get air bubbles out of the resin, when you're leaving it to set take a box fan, face it straight up and between two chairs or even 2x4s to keep it off the floor and use a small board in the center of it to put what you're curing on it as you let it go. It's a cheap way to have a workable vibration table that's been used in resin and plaster casting...
To help getting something like this out of the mold, use a can of compressed air with the straw attached. Push the straw into the mold and give a few gentle bursts of air, the pressure should push the cast out of the mold.
OK, everyone down below in the comments? CALM THE HELL DOWN! From what I understand: Peter Brown's version of this prop took over 2 months to create, and wasn't exactly DIY-friendly. This show is DIY-friendly & Vinny used HIS OWN METHODS to make it, and so I don't really get the backlash behind this mess. There is also such a thing as BEING INSPIRED BY A PREVIOUS ATTEMPT AT A PROP & YOU WANT TO MAKE IT YOUR OWN, people. Gah, some people are just quick to go nuts around here.
The two original mosquito eggs were a process of 7 layers of polyester resin vacuumed between each layer. They were Burmese Mosquitos with the wings from bees and the stingers were pins painted black with a sharpie. I still have the very first sample cane prototype for spielbergs approval.I know because I made them!
The "dollar toy" section of pretty much any dollar store/department store usually has a pack of plastic bugs that could be easily painted and used for this as well, especially if you're making a larger sized one.
Awesome video. I like how you took Steven Spielberg’s idea and made it in a way that we can all try. I like your display base. Better than (yawn) putting it on a cane like everyone else does.
Hey AWEme fans! Glad you're liking our build - this is our take on the Jurassic Park Amber Egg and as always, there are many creators out there with many different versions of similar props (shout out to Peter Brown). Hope you enjoy the video!
AWE me can u make kaneki's mask from Tokyo ghoul please??
yes
Can you make a Daedric sword from Skyrim, I know you made the axe, but I would like to see another technique to make the sword
Well, you've done one JP mold why not two? How about Alan Grant's raptor claw?
AWE me please do lions hearts hammer
Pro-tip: add a little led light in the amber stand to make it look even cooler in the dark.
you can actually get amber colored leds, so adding an led, a resistor, a battery charger and protection circuit and a switch would be a nice touch.
U like my rex?
Vinny and Odin are really skilled and they are both fun characters. Please keep them!
we're all talking about Pete Brown's video. when we should be talking about how weird that egg birthing scene was
MrMowbot right?
I was just thinking the same thing.
Thank you
Right
vinny is so charismatic and always shows his failures. I really like his builds.
sorry for people hating. you have a fan in me!

Heck if you check Vinny's Instagram in the description, he has a picture of him pouring the mold 7 weeks ago.
And Peter has videos of the resin-Bug test of 9 months ago.
And your point? People are complaining like AWE went and whipped this vid together after watching Peter in a week. Rather then it being a coincidence.
People have been preserving bugs in resin for years...
OH MY GOD! THE WATER VOLUME STEP! YOU JUST CHANGED THE GAME!
This is a direct reply from Vinny on the matter of copying Peter Brown's idea that I thought Id share here so more people could see it! Timing can always be an issue when people have very similar videos release right around each other!

Iam a technician in naval construction. This video brought some old memories.
Vinny is my favorite DIY Prop Shop host/teacher. Thanks for this!
Peter Brown wasn't the first one who worked with silicone molds so please calm down.
Many have come before both Peter and myself. We all learn from our predecessors.
I made one before either of them did tbh
The comment section is surreal. Easy to tell that none of them are makers, students of art or craft, have no understanding what 'replication' is, and believe that ideas and methods of creation are inherently owned by the one individual they've every seen do those things.
Anyway, really appreciated this video. Strong work getting the eggs out of the molds. Lol.
I litterally had to go through 22 comments before finding something that isn't about theft or Peter Brown damn. Vinny made this video months ago
Seeing those eggs come out of the mold was just so damn satisfying XD
Seriously people stop commenting that Vinny took Peter Brown's idea! Awe me said that they filmed this episode before his video came out, it's a
coincidence. (And they're both awesome)
The Costume Kid but I thought it took Peter over a year to find the mosquito...
Actually, Peter thought of this for years, and look at the dates. His was 18th, this was 29th.
plus, Peter made his look a lot cleaner.

That thing just gave birth!

Vinny Logozio you might want to comment that and pin it at the top then.
I think it would have been nice to see the full cane build, but this was still really entertaining and educational. I had never heard of wet sanding until now, and it will definitely come in handy with a project I'm working on! Thanks, Vinny!

Loki Mask 🙌
Great presentation for a really fun project! Also, it's always so cool to see someone use their correct hand rather than their right hand. (I'm a leftie myself.) Keep being awesome!
Just saying, these are obviously 2 very different method of making them.
Peter cast the bug in a rectangle piece of resin and later refine it down to an egg.
Vinny is straight away cast the orb in an egg shaped mold.
Peter's is more experienced and the end product is clearer and neat.
Vinny's is more like first timer and the result is rather messy and it carried the messiness of what a real ember would have.
Both channel accept request from their viewers and fans.

Just to add to this. If you check Vinnys Instagram in the description, he has a picture of him pouring the mold 7 weeks ago.
hey man i saw that cheeky smile when you first started to spread the mold once you took that part off.. Hahha

fanboys are just cry babies with 0 reasoning power, 0 logical thinking, cry and bitching all the time.
no point arguing with them. just a waste of time.

Oh well.
Spared no expense
out of all the props, this one is the most well done imo, GG! :)
Peter Brown's statement:
"Pocket83 and I were talking about this in Feb as were rushing down the finish line to our release date. We were sweating getting our build out before another one popped up on UA-cam.
I know AWE ME you didn't copy my project. I doubt you guys had ever seen a video of mine before today! Just a crazy coincidence!"
Now go away you 12 year old whiners.
Yay! Vinny's back!
-Such originality. Wow.- Not like Peter Brown just did it, -and better- .
Edit : Actually both are really good, sorry for the agressive tone
+ Serius Sim Thanks for the support! Our take is a little more DIY than Peter's but as always, we love fellow prop makers! Thanks for being a fan!
Omg senpai noticed me :D
I've been asking for this forever, thank you.
Check Vinnys Instagram in the description, he has a picture of him doing the mold 7 weeks ago. Proof that he didn't copy Peter Browns video that came out 1 week ago. Both were lovely props!
Hey I appreciate that Sylveon.
I'm so sorry you have to see all this hate over a misunderstanding!
I'm glad I can make it even a little bit better.
If you watch Peter Brown's video, he started this project in 2015 (you can see it in about 1:00). Still love you Vinny tho
You guys should honestly pin this comment to the very top of the comments section...
Adalberto yeah, but he had never said he was doing the project. He couldn't announce it
From building model and dealing with clear parts, toothpaste works well (paste not gel) once clean and dry, dip the part in future floor wax and let dry. This gives a great clear part and shine, Future is an Acrylic and drys hard and added bonus it's readily available and cheap.
Yes Peter did a similar project, but he used a different way. And if this is inspired at his work, you guys were really fast.
lol dude we're not THAT fast. Maybe someday.
Vinny Logozio
that's what i thought, i mean that it is impossible to be so fast.
I just had to say how awesome this is, i was just a week or so ago thinking how to do this for a cosplay
Original:
As much as it was done slightly differently here (single mold instead of using a lathe to round off a square molded piece of resin) it looks (not saying it is like that, but it does look) a lot like there were some notes taken from Peter Brown on this one.
LAKster
Just to add to this. If you check Vinnys Instagram in the description, he has a picture of him pouring the mold 7 weeks ago.
In the end I guess the lesson to take from all this is; Do your research or voice stuff carefully to avoid being a total asshat :')
Also thought I'd put it here that I edited my original comment to include the info you pointed out to me.
You guys are decent human beings for giving credit where credit is due.
Heck if you check Vinny's Instagram in the description, he has a picture of him pouring the mold 7 weeks ago.
Jurassic park is myfavorite movie so you know I'm going to make this
YEAH ANOTHER VIDEO THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING! I REALLY DONT GET IT WHY PEOPLE MAKE SUCH A BIG DEAL BOUT COPYING SOMEONE ?! EVERY OTHER DIY IS SOMEHOW A "COPY" OR WHATEVER !?!?
Sean AGLR HELP SOMEONE TURNED ON CAPS LOCK AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT
don't act like you didn't see this on Reddit last week and just had this great epiphany.

Armoule ......
I'm laughing
Love this vid! Thank you for re-creating such an iconic prop from child hood!!!
And doing it in such an approachable way :)
LOL, Peter Brown sends his regards
+ FBN Hey there! We usually bulk tape these builds and it happened to roll out right after Peter's build. He did a great version of the Amber Egg and we're glad you are a fan of both of us!
wow; shots fired
Adam Savage showed that on Tested several time
A Witcher Medallion would be a cool build to see next.
omg is there one comment that doesn't have name "Peter Brown" in it lol srly
Edit: just used the search from site and theres over 230 comments with the name "peter brown" lol
This guy spared no expense
So why haven't you guys just pinned the comment from Vinny at the top of the page? wow ppl are trolls... anyway love your work keep it up!
I FREAKING LOVE VINNY'S VIDEOS.
UGH. SO GOOD
peter brown's was better
meh Peter Brown's was way better! As soon as I saw the title of this video, I immediately was like cool! They're doing a version of Peter's prop! It'd be neat to see him get the channel exposure from a bigger channel like AWE! Much to the detriment of AWE that they didn't give him any credit for his idea...
I specifically got on my phone to leave a comment about how it's a coincidence that this came out of no where after Peter Brown did it. glad there are others that recognized it as well
lets not forget that Pockets Cane was bad ass
Hey given that Peter's video came out last week, I know it seems like we might've copied the idea - but we actually filmed this just over a month ago, and had no contact with Peter (although I do subscribe, and I'm a big fan of his work) regarding the idea, method, or script.
It takes us much, much longer than a week to plan, film, and edit an episode - and I would absolutely give credit to those that inspire builds, every time. Peter's build was gorgeous, and we did ours without knowing he was doing one as well.
meh
Just to add to this. If you check Vinnys Instagram in the description, he has a picture of him pouring the mold 7 weeks ago.
Vinny is a really cool dude!
straight out of reddit lol
Wow a prop building channel built a prop that someone else also built? Theif!
Edit: Sarcasm...
not really. if you think about it, they're both stealing from Jurassic park's prop department.
Tom Moozack exactly! thank u. all these boy nerds got their panties in a twist lol
:D
@@jamiemarie4645 nerds??? You mean fanboys/fangirls
Cool take on the Amber Egg prop :D Wanted to try silicone casting so I might just try to do this one! Awesome work!
Awesome, that's exactly the goal. It really is a cool craft to get into, and opens up many possibilities.
Pretty sure they wouldn't be able to make this video in such a short amout of time after Peter's video.
You would be a great art teacher. You show up and do this I’ll be like,”Daaaaaaamn”
Love all the copy pasted replies when people mention Peter brown
I'm in love with Vinny.
2nd
Really cool overview of the entire mold making process, seems like a really good first molding project for a beginner
For the next build, you guys should make a portal gun from Portal. It would go great with the Companion Cube prop.
Someone watched Peter Brown for "inspiration"
AKA we had no idea what to do this week until we saw someone else do it.
Hey I commented on the extreme coincidence below at length - but we filmed this just over a month ago, with no contact with Peter Brown. We don't crank these videos out in under a week - although I wish we could!
And nerdEcrafter
Just to add to this. If you check Vinnys Instagram in the description, he has a picture of him pouring the mold 7 weeks ago.
Science teacher was really impressed as it was the first (and only) piece of homework I did ;)
Sounds pretty cool! I haven't heard of that material before. I'd love to see it if you want to share an image on instagram?
Oh look, a larger channel stealing ideas from smaller channels.
Wait...
I don't know Peter is actually the one who made the prop for juressic park filming back in year 1993..
+RedX1000 Hey! We bulk shoot these videos and it just so happened that this video was posted a little after Peter's. Glad you're a fan of both!
RedX1000 this is a diy version you idiot
AWE me That makes sense, I guess. Thanks for getting back to me about that.
PneumaticFrog Those are DIY channels as well. Your point?
I know it's not the best movie ever but it's my favorite movie of all time. I could watch Jurassic Park literally anytime. 🐊grrr...
Peter brown did it first
and many others before him its not a contest
All the Peter Brown comments are BS. No, he took 18 months, said you had to catch your own bugs, and showed a method using 100x more effort and cost using milling machines and carbide tools. Not exactly doing it first and not really a DYI without a shop.
Wrong....this prop was build and made many time by many people before them. Quite whining.
Allen Chellasamy
If DYI only means you do it yourself no matter what tool you use and how long.. ANYTHING could be called a DYI. It is not practical for 99% of people to do it the way Peter did it.
Great Owl 1. DIY not DYI 2. Peter and Pocket did it themselves the bandsaw or any tool they used did not do it for them
Vinny is a great host :)
You could at least give Peter Brown credit for stealing his idea, method, and part of his dialogue.
Ben Hightower you can't accuse someone of stealing something because they have the same idea
Andrew and method? and dialogue? OK.
This method was front page of reddit last week. It's "hot" right now. I don't think they'd lose any credibility by just saying "Peter Brown did this and check out his video after ours".
dude, i clicked on this video just to say the same thing
Lol, he made a video of it 10 days ago. Yes you can accuse them of stealing.
I wish I had the time and money to follow along on some of these. Looks like a ton of fun.
ripoff. peter brown did it first you weebs!
Someone's been playing For Honor
Jurassic park was out a long time.
Peter can't be the first one who make the prob.
You're wrong, the 1st one would be the one seen in the movie aka the person who made the prop.
Weeb is not indicative to For Honor.. It's a term that's been around for years.
it is like those toxic Naruto fans logic all over again..
when they see a nine tail on other media... OMG THEY STEAL IT FROM NARUTO!!
vinny is back yaah
Someone copying off of peter brown eh? Haha 😂
+TwX Edge Thanks for being a fan! We bulk shoot these builds so it just so happened to roll out right after Peter's - but glad you're keeping tabs on us both!
TwX EdgE its called coincidence
heyits turq pipe down
If you look at vinnys instagram he has a picture of this mold from 7 weeks ago, I doubt he copied it.
Peter started the proyect more than 9 months ago dude.
Hello guys! I'm from Brazil, and i love your videos!! I love you ❤❤
Oh noooo, he used a common method of doing something like someone else did. He's obviously stealing ideas!
Spoiler alert: Search how to make anything on youtube and there will be countless tutorials and a vast majority will use similar if not the exact same techniques.
You people are beyond petty.
I love that prop, as i loved earlier versions. Great idea. I wish resin was cheaper here!
Peter brown's idea!
oh.. please... he didn't write the script for Jurassic Park.. =="
peter was asked to attempt a cane build by a youtuber which he credited at the beginning of his build and also the vid he put out was a long time ago not recently just so people know there are over 100 videos of this build and Peter Brown's shop time video was not even the best one
if you think about it, they're both stealing from Jurassic park's prop department.
Also if you check Vinny's Instagram in the description, he has a picture of him pouring the mold 7 weeks ago.
All the Peter Brown comments are BS. No, he took 18 months, said you had to catch your own bugs, and showed a method using 100x more effort and cost using milling machines and carbide tools. Not exactly doing it first and not really a DYI without a shop.
Thanks for this one Vinny great project and a lot of new skills to help out with other projects
i was going to say why did you copy peter brown but...
I asked this one in the very beginning and I wanted this one when I was a kid!
You guys know that it is theft when you don't give credit right ?
nope did Peter give credit to those who did it before him .i saw a video of a mask making diy and they didnt give credit to the thousands of people who also did mask making vids. you people are whats wrong with our world today always bitching and jumping on the band wagon to be cool. and to be clear i mean all the P.Brown comments that are present this is for you cry babies
+nicksfix8609 ok so he did give credit to one of the 36 youtube channels that did attempt this build but he was specifically asked to try by the credited youtuber
Jonas V they shot this video weeks before Peter's came out, so they couldn't have copied him.
credit for what? making a prop from a movie?
if you think about it, they're both stealing from Jurassic park's prop department.
Good job stealing from Peter brown
+swagermuffinz Hey! We love our fellow prop makers and definitely get inspiration from them but in this case, we bulk shoot our videos so this just so happened to go up right after his but thanks for being a fan!
if you think about it, they're both stealing from Jurassic park's prop department.
All the Peter Brown comments are BS. No, he took 18 months, said you had to catch your own bugs, and showed a method using 100x more effort and cost using milling machines and carbide tools. Not exactly doing it first and not really a DYI without a shop.
Goober that escalated quickly
Who cares, at least this is one we can all do ourselves in time for a con, this isn't a competition and btw no one stole anything.
Dude?! Awesome!
Saimeren you took that from grant thompson
Aye man, Thank you for the step by steps. Its really, really appreciated!!!
I have a request: how to make your own Vinny's hair.
Helpful tip, to avoid bubbles you can poke a hole in the bottom of your mixing receptacle, and let it drain trough the hole into your mold.
18 months to complete...18 months O_o
The two original mosquito eggs were a process of 7 layers of polyester resin vacuumed between each layer.
They were Burmese Mosquitos with the wings from bees and the stingers were pins painted black with a sharpie. I still have the very first sample cane prototype for spielbergs approval.I know because I made them!
ayy vinnys back!
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing!
