    Thanks again Andrew, From someone who has retired from a lifetime of arable farming you are helping us oldies all keep up to speed with current trends. By all means throw in a passionate grumble now and again as your videos give us ammunition to state the case and refute the challenges thrown at us. Well done.

    Great Video yet again. Ive put a pack of wafer weights on my 8rx, only just over a ton, but certainly helps the front grip, and reduced wheel slip and trac wear on the rear .

    Quick question: In simplified terms, is it correct that you could earn more, through government subs, by NOT growing food, than you currently do from growing food?
    20-odd mins is perfect for your uploads Andrew, good mix of interesting content. I watch Olly & Crawford (Crawford's Farm) for a good spread of diff agriculture...... Olly's vids at around 10-12mins are perfect for his content and likewise with Crawford. What I like about your content so much, is you often go into a subject in great depth, soil for instance, and treat your audience with the respect (for intelligence) that is due. Personally, I love the machinery (being a bloke) and crop rotation, cover crops etc. Always look forward to your uploads. ATB

      @matthewhodder3029 Sorry, didn’t answer your first part. It is possible to earn as much from something else as growing a crop and with a lot less stress and hassle and solar is one way. They’ll be far more land going into this if Defra carry on. 😡😡

      That is concerning. I have just been visiting family in N'berland and are talking about this, that the rollercoaster of farming, prices, markets, weather, just isn't worth it any more and are looking into all sorts of g'mens schemes. A sad day. There is so much other land & areas that can be used for solar and other things..... I makes you wonder if all of this is by design.@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard

      @@WardysWaffleAndrewWard yes indeed. I was an apprentice at Townsends (Metheringham) in the late 90's. Used to have october half term off work, head "home" with my tools and a boot of filters and service everything. We had a fleet of Ford tractors... was never going to be an apprentice on any other make! Then spent the rest of the week land working. I learnt theres one compliment you can make to a farmer.... "your ploughing looks well". Unfortunately its not taken as a compliment when the ploughman was your Grandson 😂😂

    An Australian talking to Nob, stated that hormone fed beef couldn't be imported into the UK because of our laws banning it's use, who's telling the truth? Ollie Harrison seemed to say the opposite. Agree with you 100% about the role of the NFU.

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  Рік тому

    Great video as usual. Your way of farming obviously works on your soil. Just wondering when you're going to set foul of British Sugar and their pitiful price offer for next years crop when the world price of sugar has never been higher. Us growers share the pain when the price is low but don't benefit when it's high.

      Paid not to produce a crop? Bloody bonkers and I can only see food shortage ahead.
      Farmers have to do what's right for them obviously and this isn't a rant at farmer's but the system has to change and somehow SOD what government say! Needs a whole new way?
      JR Nob! Very fitting? GB news becoming a bad as msn.
      Canadian gov, parliament giving a standing ovation to a 98 year old SS Nazi last week. Bloody disgusting of anyone saw it? Trudeau blaming the Russians for it! You couldn't make it up.

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  Рік тому +2

      @beattie1976 we used to plough but not done any since 2004 and not owned one since then. Because of the high clay and silt content it ploughed terrible and needed so much work after to get a seed bed. The solo is much better. Maybe occasionally ploughing might be better to get some dry soil up, but as we’ve not got one, we never try.

    JRM seems to have foot in mouth syndrome,he can have parliamentary privileges ,or not be held to account,which the normal person would be ,isnt that protectionist organisation,they seem to forget, the MP'S ,they are voted in by the people and serve the people,but they seem to think they serve themselves,as the saying goes you can sit there and look a fool,there is no need to open your mouth and prove it,which he seems to do more often than not.
    His degree in history ,its always said that when agriculture is run down in the country the country follows,how does he think an economy comes out of a recession,its usually the manufacturing sector that kick starts the recovery,but the MP's have decided over decades ,manufacturing isnt needed,instead they print money and wonder why the pound drops in value

    Do both your workers drive the John Deere, or only one? When GPS first came out, my boss loved the idea, but the farm manager chose only one to use the JD with GPS, OK worked well up to date this operator took ill, no one else knew how to operate it, not one of the other arable staff of 3 had the faintest, inc me, as the work we were doing (potatoes) relied on the GPS, all work finally came to a stand still, the worker that took to his bed took GPS off cab top took it upon his self to take it home, so we were well shagged on 2 fronts, ...our farm manager said he did the right thing, arsehole....

    Evening Andrew. Don't worry about WRM, the minister for the 19th century AKA Richard Cranium. He lives in an alternative existence and hardly anybody listens to his nonsense. Keep these videos going to educate those who don't know the facts associated with farming. Word does get about. It would be superb if a group of you got together and formed a body to get your story into the mainstream media. Olly, Charlotte, Farmer P, Rich Cornock. There are many others as well that portray the real story. Keep it up pal. It's important work that you do. Take care.🫡
