20 years ago the day after I graduated high school I left the dairy farm of Pennsylvania and jumped on a plane to Kansas. Couple days later was operating the biggest JD combine at that time for Larry’s crew of Froese Brothers. Worked for this great family for 2 harvest runs! Wonderful experience! Thanks for the memories!
@jeffrey8972, that was me 15 years ago also with Froese Brothers, and I couldn't agree more about the great experience and memories! What part of PA are you from? I'm near Reading.
Thanks for the memories. As a farm gal growing up in Kansas in the 50’s and leaving the state in the ‘80’s was hard. Wheat harvests w/my Dad and the crew he hired was my favorite time of year. There’s so many ways to be involved in the wheat harvesting. Many years I worked for Kansas Grain and Feed Dealers Assn (now Kansas Grain Dealers Assn) in Hutchinson. Every year, tho not there in person, this gal follows the wheat harvesting thru Kansas reports. It’s in the DNA for me.
Great video and it interesting to learn more about the farmers and farming. I've been driving semi trucks for 2 custom harvesting companies from Manitoba Canada then we leave for Saskatchewan and do the harvest run there for 3 months and continued that for 5 years. Maybe some day I'll be at it again. But all in all.. I loved it. Happy harvesting.
I remember the long days of wheat harvest when I was a kid. From Yuma, Arizona all the way to Grand Forks, North Dakota. Wouldn't trade those memories for all the gold in the world.
Harvesting is unpredictable and spontaneous - it’s like a dance between the crew, equipment, and weather. You never know what’ll happen next, but that’s what makes it exciting! 🙌🌾
American at it's best!!!! Keep up the good work and GUD BLESS. Your doing tour kids right - teaching them how tom work and what what it means. Gives them self value!!!
What a great video, well done. Without farmers and ranchers, everything goes aways and it's not for the faint of heart. Hard work, frustration, significant capital overhead, travel, and day after day grind. Thank you!
National Geographic August 1972 has an article “North with the Wheat Cutters”. I stumbled on this article when in High School and have been mesmerized by the custom harvest business ever since. I did work at an equipment dealership for awhile and did get to work on combines.
What a great video of both families and how they approach harvest. As a retired farmer I have some appreciation of what’s involved. Hi from Australia, wishing u much sunshine and no breakdowns. 😁
When I was young in the late 80's early 90's I worked for a canning company in ROCHESTER, MN. working the harvest runs harvesting peas, sweetcorn, beets, carrots, potatoes those were long fun days. Also worked the soybean and grain corn harvest and driving trucks to the river ports and processors and ethanol plants
Sitting around a cooler in the middle of no where eating dinner off a paper plate. Can’t beat it. Some of the best home cooked meals I can remember out there
Farming is a hard life, a ramble, trust in Jesus that it will come up and its gets to Harvest. I lived it for 19 years, then went off to college and graduated. My hat off to all the farmers that grow our food. God bless you all there. 🙏❤️. Great video, enjoyed very much. 👍👍
There's something about those hands on farm girls that's just working for me. They handle themselves so well. They should be role models for little girls and not Instagram models and pop stars.
Here in West Australia, we gave up on the single trailer dinky toy trucks with 350 HP motors. Upgrade yourself to b-double plus a trailer and pull 70 tonnes

Loved this documentary. Farmers are same everywhere. And good to see the young ones involved early on.

Love this. Love seeing young people learn and grow up strong! Love the family legacies! Appreciate our farmers and harvesters!
Wonderful video. Liked the narrative and insight to a family harvest crew. This lifestyle is very demanding, but enjoyable. I miss it.

My biggest regret. Not going on a harvest crew after high school.

The wind generators sure aren’t rotating much at all.
🔥🔥🔥
I wish I could experience it.
Good jop🚜🚜
Do you ever harvest sunflowers?

Unfortunately that will not work as the max gvw in the majority of the US is 80,000 lbs. In Ontario, Canada the max gvw 63.5 mt.
Dope Video
What are the logistics? I’m looking for something to do after trucking

Lots of crews do
Shouldn’t be allowed
Why not run jcb tractors that can go 45mph on the road?!
Lack of support.
