Wow, absolutely brilliant and amazing footage of our beautiful landscape. Used to live on the Isle of Mull so great to see that spectacular island too. If you have never been to Mull I can very strongly recommend. Scotland in miniature!
Ahh, the sound of the turbo prop on the Twin Otter. What better soundtrack to a fabulous flight. Such magnificent weather showcased the beautiful Scottish scenery to perfection. Thank you for sharing 👏👏👍😎
Wow! Beautiful video! Scotland from the air is just amazing! I never saw the propellers contrails in a close up like this before. Thanks a lot Steve for another great time.
A beautiful morning to fly over the stunning landscape of your country. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your full report on your trip. Travel safe Steve.
Great video Steve! Awesome, beautiful scenery there for sure....will be looking forward to the next one telling more about this trip. Twin Otters are fun to fly on!!
Amazing views and I did really like the no music format for this video. Thanks for broadcasting! I also wondered about the availability of subsidies but see someone else asked earlier.
Great video & how appropriate to fly a Victoria-built Twin Otter across the west coast of Scotland ... as these two parts of the world share so much in common. You can see from the recent & sporadic expanses of forest in your video that Scotland once would have closely resembled Vancouver Island.
@@steve-marsh A ‘epic’ trip is to fly to Calgary and then drive through the Rockies & the interior of BC before hitting Vancouver & Vancouver Island. Southwestern Alberta (where I am today @SkaraBraeRanch near Waterton National Park) is also spectacular, as is the Kootenay Valley just over the continental divide in southeastern BC. Look me up if you ever get out this way. Scots are always welcome!
Great video! Fantastic aerial tour (I'd always heard that they had their ups and downs.) I've known a couple of people that have worked in the plant that built that turboprop engine seen in the frame in Montreal. One is a ex-pat Brit Engineer and the other was a young draftsman who worked under me for a time. He is smart and diligent and companies like P&W snatch them up for better things, alas for me.
Really cool view of the moisture vortices coming off the tips of the propeller during the take off roll and climb out. Quite funny but you can really see how the cone on the front of the engine is slightly out of alignment. Totally normal and common not a big deal at all. Usually freaks out inexperienced passenger though.I've been in the aviation business an an Avionic Engineer and Pilot for over 40 years......lol
Another lovely video, oh I sure enjoy the videos you have posted. Loch Fyne ,, as a youngster I lived in Rothesay, Sunday morning breakfast Mum would serve Loch Fyne kippers with toast. Steve, I was scheduled to fly yesterday from my home here in Kelowna B.C. to Calgary then on to Frankfurt then Glasgow my trip was cancelled, it was the best thing to do for all concerned. I'll miss seeing my family and friends but the good Lord willing hopefully we will all be in a better place next year and I can see Scotland again. Well done on the videos ,, keeps me a wee bit closer and sipping a wee drap of Scotland's finest malt tops it off ,, stay safe my friend.
munnjean oh that’s sounds like a perfect breakfast! I’m so sorry to hear your trip has been cancelled, but I’m sure you will enjoy it EVEN MORE when it does happen, which it will sooner than you’ll believe :) thanks so much for watching, I have a couple more videos from this trip in the pipeline. Take care and thanks again :)
Is Loganair being bailed out by the Scots government Steve right now? I assume it is treated differently to major carriers due to public service duties for remote islands?
Legionnaire Gonk that’s a very good question and I wish I knew the answer - but like you say they operate a lot of essential routes and even got more out of the Flybe collapse I’m sure, so there must be a fair amount of subsidy involved? When you see some of their flights with only a couple of passengers, there must be something going on! Will try to dig deeper on this one, cheers
I can maybe help. Loganair operate some PSO lifeline services in Scotland but also operate a considerable freight service. They have taken on more new routes of late and are currently upgrading their fleet. You'll find more here on the PSO stuff but only part of their operation is PSO. www.transport.gov.scot/public-transport/air-travel/lifeline-air-services/
What a fantastic treat! I've never seen these island in such close perspective before. It must be another world living there. Thank you Steve.

Hah I totally noticed that cone as well, slightly disconcerting during flight :)

man those props at full on takeoff are loud!!
But I love that sound :)
Great video.
Cheers Allan!
Nice! Enjoyed that flight too. Different route. Do you get a cuppa on board? Or even a wee dram?! 😁
Ha I wish! No, there’s no cabin crew, just the pilots, so I’d need to bring my own :)
