The sheer magic of a sunny day in early spring in the Highlands. And besides all that, your videos really do breathe the milk of human kindness. Thanks for taking us along !
Why do we look abroad so often to go and be lobster boiled beside a swimming pool when we have beautiful sightseeing trips to places like Corrour relatively on our doorstep? Truly stunning to watch. Thanks to both of you.
Brilliant guy's! You and Alicja certainly know how put together excellent and well thought out video's ,You two never fail to lift my spirits, Many thanks for that. Congrats for completing your trek to the top of the mountain, the views are worth the effort. BTW those toasties look good to me! Take care and stay safe.
The reason there's "nothing there" is because it was originally intended as a simple passing loop with a signal box, and a building for signalman's accommodation, to break up the long single-track section between Rannoch and Tulloch, it was originally to be called Luibruaridh, which is the name of the locality, but it became useful for the Corrour Estate some miles away, as the signal box had the only telephone communication with the outside world, and it grew from there...
this never gets old. Just love Scotland. I try to get up there as much as I can. Thank you again Steve and Alicja. 😄 Sir John Stirling Maxwell gave access to the West Highland Railway Company to build across his land on condition that they build a railway station for guests visiting his estate here. Wow that was a fantastic-looking trip Steve ! I was very amused when you said quite early on that Corrour was a really remote station - then when you got off the train, so did about 30 or 40 other folk !! 😎
Marvellous video - good to see someone who sells the experience of the journey as well as the sights at the end. As someone who travelled that way years ago - it is good to see it again. Thanks Steve !
A train station specially for hikers. Brilliant. Took the wife , them girlfriend on the line to Fort William on her very first visit to Scotland. She loved it. That hike looked great and what a reward at the end.👍🏴🇳🇱
Thanks for taking us along! It’s a hike I doubt I will ever have the opportunity to make (although you never know!) so glad to do it vicariously through you two crazy kids! 👍🏼😄
I've visited Scotland twice and I've always loved the scenery. I follow several UA-cam and Facebook people who live in Scotland and I'm always impressed with the beauty. Thank you for sharing your lovely country with us.
I must have been napping a year ago when this video was uploaded. I hadn't seen it before. I've just returned from Corrour and my attempt in climbing that hill from both directions was an epic fail. It was seriously boggy. Great video.
Aw mate hard lines! Aye without decent weather (for a good few weeks) it can be a tough place to tramp through. I hope you still have enough for a fail video though, those can be popular ones :)
Hi, Steve and Alicja, ‘Corrour’ Station looked rather familiar, I am sure it was included on one of our many excursions from ‘Kingussie! Where we stayed for many years, they had a lovely little train station also, ‘Corrour’ certainly is in a remote location, with the cutest station like you say Steve, the rocky terrain looked rather hard going, but the views are spectacular, when you reached the summit and the mist came down and the wind started howling, you could have Been in an episode of ‘Wuthering Heights’ it was very atmospheric! at least Alicja got her wish, those Toasties looked delicious 😋 thank you for another successful and enjoyable find Steve, happy hiking 🤗👋
It was such a wild and wonderful adventure, and even up there in Wuthering Heights, we knew we weren't far from that delightful little station, and everyone there was so friendly. We're both really taken with that little station in the middle of nowhere!
As you say Steve it was a delightful little station and great little hike! Have been racking my brains where we were going to pass it! maybe ‘Mallaig’ we had many wonderful excursions from ‘Kingussie’ the “Duke of Gordon” where we stayed had wonderful panoramic views, and walking trails, I don’t know how we managed to cover some of them as my husband was in the early stages of Parkinson’s, if he had ever fallen we could still be there!🥺 no mobile phones for us, look forward to your next adventure, not sure Alicja was impressed with your subtle hint that your Birthday is approaching! how about another visit to slate island for a swim 🏊 I often wonder if you made it on her Birthday!🤗👋
Just loving these videos..i am seeing places ive never saw before & having health conditions i would never be able to do these but i am in a way..just loving these..on a binge watch 😂❤
Oh thank you! This is so on my bucket list. I saw it on the train from Fort William in the fall, all blond grasses and so remote, and thought I would love to come roam around. This is so helpful.
I thought I had been there, but I don't think so anymore! One for the list :-)) Laughed at Alicja on the platform. Glad she got her cheese and pickle toastie :-))
That is unreal, Steve! I was on the same train you both were on, there and back! Thanks to your previous video, I went from Glasgow to Mallaig and back, also, I actually saw you both get on at Corrour! I didn't wanna disturb you in case you were filming. Thanks again!!
No way Graeme!!!! That's so funny, but please say hi, even if the camera is rolling and you don't mind being in the video :) That's a big old trip, but so cool! Hope you had a great day, see you on a train again sometime soon!
Wow! Absolutely beautiful destination, chock full of surprises. This place has a spirit all its own and it’s easy to see that in those stunning views and quickly shifting weather. So glad you guys were able to get out and and go again. Also, can’t help noticing the good, steady hand on the camera in all the wind. Well done! And many thanks for posting.
Haha thanks for that Karen, we put a lot of work into getting the filming right (and you still wouldn't believe all the dodgy shots that don't make the final cut) so really appreciate it! :)
Steve you and your lady certainly show places many of us have never been before in beautiful Scotland. I won't see Scotland this year but hopefully God willing next year when hopefully we are all in a better place.
Thanks for another great video. Nothing can beat these scenic Scottish locations . Who needs to go abroad anyway in this recent beautiful weather? Here in Scotland, we have some of the most spectacular scenery in the World. Another great video.
Leum Uilleim really makes you work for it. Those are good hikes. What I like about these Scotland Videos: 1) It is very clean 2) Nice Breeze 3) No Litter 4) Friendly Dogs 5) Onion Rings Thank you for sharing.
Brilliant! Another journey/day out I’d like to do with my kids. A couple of weeks ago we did an abbreviated 😆 Forth Road Bridge walk that you inspired. We parked at Dalmeny Station got the train to Inverkeithing and walked back. Just under 5 miles , terrified my son (doesn’t like heights) but totally worth it.
Thank you ... I'm exhausted...was fine on the train! But that climb...you would be calling in mountain rescue for me ha ha. The scenery🥰....wish I could paint... stunning easy to forget civilisation was so near. Jan Adelaide
A couple of years ago, stopped at a tea room at a railway station, don't remember the name, but the cafe was in a train car. Would love to go back there. Had a scone and clotted cream. Heavenly!
Great train journey the first time a went on it panicked got on at queen street railway station Glasgow didn’t No what carriages to get on but made it to Fortwilliam what a journey breathtaking great vid mate
Fantastic scenery. You were lucky with the weather. Never used west side railways tracks. Only weekly commute Edinburgh Waverly to Inverness. Split train at Perth. Leave office 17.00 and a nice dinner on the train. 50 years ago proper table service and wine. Coming back not so nice. 23,00 sleeper Sunday night. horror.
What a phenomenal stop and adventure! Just seeing this now. You’d definitely need to do a proper weather check before attempting that hike. You chose a beautiful day!
Nice to see😂 In 1986 we started a two week hiking tour from Corrour-station. The buildings have changed a bit since.😮 Our first camp was at blackwater-lake.. Sweet memories❤
WOW, the views are magnificent, this is definitely on my bucket list and under the column marked must do. Thank you so much for taking us along and may I wish you a very Happy Birthday and may there be many more to come, take care and have a great birthday, cheers,.
Lovely upload, beautifully done...you're a very engaging couple. Corrour Station was a fine dining restaurant for a while a few years back, operated by a lovely young English ( I think) couple. We had a delicious meal there for my birthday. Such a beautiful part of the world.
Steve - when I was a teenager, I read "Kidnapped", and found out from an uncle that our ancestors came from the Highlands. I got obsessed with "romantic" Scotland - kilts, clans, Bonnie Prince Charlie, all that. (I *did* later start learning more about Scotland's non-romaticized history, like the Great Disruption, the Highland Clearances, Red Clydeside and such). Seeing your videos reminds me that places like Mull or Barra or Lismore aren't just names out of a Walter Scott novel, but real, living communities that have a future, as well as a past. Thanks for your great channel!
Thanks so much for your message! I must admit it's only over the past year or so that I've really begun to embrace my own wee country, and what a joy it has been :)
Makes me want to leave New Mexico and go back to Scotland and do Corrour. I've been on the train through there but not knowing about the hike I didn't get off. Thanks for the "almost" memory.
Thank you for your video Steve. Three years ago, my brother and I travelled to Corrour on a sleeper train and we stayed at Loch Ossian Youth Hostel for a few nights. The hostel is in a fantastic location next to the loch, about a mile north of the station. There is no public road access to it. Leum Uilleim was one of the mountains we climbed from there.
Amazing Patrick! Yes, we had a wander down towards the hostel and could see it in the distance, but had to turn back incase we missed the train! Looked such a cool location :)
Stayed at the Loch Ossian youth hostle about a mile from the station sixty years ago, never forgot its unbelievably stunning views.Great video by the way very good job.
That was a great day out. I felt like I wanted to run and jump on a train, especially when you went round the great horseshoe, and seeing the train leave Corrour with wilderness all over the place. Congrats on getting up the mountain, and those toasties looked inviting. I wonder why the station was built in the first place? Not just for tourists, I'm sure. Here's a bit of info: As the eagle flies, from Corrour to Fort William station it's only 15 miles. But because of the Nevis range being in the way, the train has to go a distance of 27 miles between the two stations! Thanks for posting, Steve. 👍😁
Great wee snippet of info there Janet! And good question about why the station is there in the first place - I'll save reading up on it until we're sitting in that signal box on a cold winters night! Ahhhh the dream...
To save you having to wait Steve, “Calling all Stations” “How to stay in a Signal Box: Corrour. All is explained why it was built, looks an awesome place to spend a night or, two, wish I could turn back time just enough to allow me to go visit! Scotland is always calling me back! 🤗

Another amazing video to add to the already impressive collection. What an extraordinary place with epic vistas. Wonderful shot at the 9:54 mark and clever dissolve at the 15:00 mark - that was nice. Thanks again Steve for these, you really are doing wonders for Scotland. My next trip up to your wonderful country will involve a lot of planning and I can see now I will review your videos for inspiration. Great work, great editing and great photography. 10/10.
Wow thanks so much Ric! Really appreciate it, and you clearly appreciate the finer details of editing etc which are time-consuming but ever so worthwhile with comments like yours!
Inspired to do this now! I look forward to your videos because they give me a sense of Scottish pride and the desure to explore 😁 I also vow to never skip an ad, congratulations on your growth Steve, you deserve it 🙂
Great video I'd say one of my fav ones of the channel. Next month I'm taking the West Highland Line all the way to Mallaig and off to Skye but watching this really makes me want to stop at Corrour, will be another trip. Talking about top 10 places lists in Scotland I think it'd be a good idea to do a video making your top 10 places
Hope your legs didn’t get fried in the sun 🌞🌞As an Arizona resident, I’m so glad you had enough water with you and that you had toasties at your return
There was one scene while you were on the train where the mist or clouds was laying on top of the mountain and it looked like the one I can see from my work. Sometimes the mist/fog is laying in the valley’s. I love it.
@@steve-marsh you need wing mirrors but it's all part of the fun. Anyway, it enhances the professionalism of your videos knowing there's a complete screwball jumping about behind you 😅
Just got back from a week on Arran and catching up on your videos Steve. We would have welcomed some of the windy weather you encountered up there as it would have blown away the midges and clegs that plagued us during a heat wave on Arran. I’ve been through Corrour on the train but never got out there so thanks to both of you for a very enjoyable watch 👍
Oh I am so envious. I usually walk over from Rannoch on the Road to the Isles. I have never made it to Corrour but I usually get about two thirds there. I am so looking forward to next March and my next visit.
Lovely views in all directions

@@steve-marsh Yes I do appreciate good editing or indeed editing in general. I cannot stand doing editing myself :D
Inspired to do this now! I look forward to your videos because they give me a sense of Scottish pride and the desure to explore 😁 I also vow to never skip an ad, congratulations on your growth Steve, you deserve it 🙂
Haha cheers Jade, I wish everyone did that :D Hope you're doing well :)
Ooops! I will try harder…always wanting to see what’s next on the video!
Great idea! You've given me something to think about now...
Hope your legs didn’t get fried in the sun 🌞🌞As an Arizona resident, I’m so glad you had enough water with you and that you had toasties at your return
Very enjoyable keep them coming guys
Thanks so much Sarbjit!
There was one scene while you were on the train where the mist or clouds was laying on top of the mountain and it looked like the one I can see from my work. Sometimes the mist/fog is laying in the valley’s. I love it.
Doris, I wish my work view was like that! It's absolutely gorgeous :)
A belated happy birthday Steve. Another great vid, spectacular views and your crackerjack partner photobombing you at the beginning! Great stuff 😅
Cheers Davey! Haha yes, I need a screen on the front of my camera so I know what's going on behind me ;)
@@steve-marsh you need wing mirrors but it's all part of the fun. Anyway, it enhances the professionalism of your videos knowing there's a complete screwball jumping about behind you 😅
always great vlogs interesting
Thanks for sharing Corrour Steve, really enjoyed this one. Alicja seems to be enjoying this walk. Best wishes to you both.
Cheers Derek! It was a fun day in a truly wonderful place :)
Great video Steve. I stayed in Fort Augustus a few years ago for a fortnight. Absolutely amazing scenery.
Cracking place, so glad you enjoyed it :)
"Once up on at time in the west" that is watt it reminds me on, that look down the railway line :-)
So true Lars!!!!!
A great day for your hike up the hill. Well done. ;-)
Yes it really was John! We got lucky (again!)
well done to both of you that looked tough at times what a wonderful video
Thanks Jim! The heat again was the biggest problem, but we battled through :)
Think I would only get as far as the tearoom these days Steve 😁🤪🏴,great wee vidio again
I'd settle for that as well Douglas! Would happily spend all day there!
Oh David, sorry to hear those little devils were on holiday there at the same time as you! :(
'It's shite being Scottish!' Great video mate, will definitely visit Corrour one day!
Haha YES! You gotta do it :)
Oh I am so envious. I usually walk over from Rannoch on the Road to the Isles. I have never made it to Corrour but I usually get about two thirds there. I am so looking forward to next March and my next visit.
Roll on next March!
