  • “When I was young my heroes had megazords, adamantium claws, and vampire slaying whips. They were spectacular and unlocked my imagination. But after the events of the past few years my heroes have changed, and now anyone who selflessly enriches a child’s life is a hero to me. This entry is a love letter to a man who showed us what being a good neighbor looks like,” - Adi.
Today is Mr. Roger's 90th Birthday. Happy Birthday Mr. Rogers. You taught us well.

Yeah, and I kind of want to believe he would find this a touching tribute to his life (aside from the foul language and violence, which he wasn't a fan of given he was a minister, though I'm sure he would appreciate the sentiment behind it and the emotions it conveyed). I'm sure he'd have been proud to have made such an impact on a generation of kids and kids culture for years to come.

I grew up watching Mr Rogers, he instilled in my mind goodness and kindness. He taught me a sense of fairness and taught me valuable lessons I have passed down to my children. He did this through imagination, such as this story, I watched this through the eyes of my younger self and true or not it made me at peace for his passing. He may be gone but through his teachings Mr Rogers will always be immortal.

This was effing AWESOME!!! Like every kid out there back in the day I watched Mr. Rogers, but I confess there were other shows I enjoyed more like Sesame Street and the Electric Company and, going way back, Romper Room and Captain Kangaroo; but in hindsight, and with the new documentary coming out, there's something about ol' Fred that strikes a chord of goodness and decency and honesty that endures to this day and kinda chokes me up when I watch footage of him now.
And a funny, related story to the video: I was talking with a neighbor about Mr. Rogers, probably in the context of urban myths and legends, and he brings up the whole Fred Rogers/navy seal thing and I immediately go, "Y'know that's all bullshit, right? He was too old to serve and he wouldn't have had time between school and the show starting to fight in fucking Vietnam," and he goes, "No, he really served in the military," and I'm like, "Dude, literally EVERY website and article I've ever seen says it's bullshit," and he's like, "Dude, I saw him in person, he did a talk, and he straight up said all that Vietnam stuff is absolutely TRUE."
Say whaaaaaat? So maybe my neighbor was kidding, even though he never said so, which sorta defeats the purpose of the joke-and what would be gained by casting doubt in my mind about Mr. Roger's military service? I've yet to spend a single sleepless night pondering the possible tattoos he kept hidden under his sleeves. And if my neighbor WAS telling the truth, was Fred Rogers just fucking with the audience that day or night? A topic like 'Nam and his being an ex-killing machine doesn't seem like the kind of thing that kind, gentle man would've used as humor, unless he was also a secret stand-up comedian...weeeirrrd.
Anyway, one more time: Awesome. Fucking. Video. I bow down to you all, as does Mr. Rogers. Just don't get too close 'cause he's DEADLY.

Fantastic work. I went to look up "Fred Rogers" and noticed this wasn't exactly how "Mr.Roger's Neighborhood" was manifested, in fact looking at comments, this story was deemed an urban legend. But either way, this was an amazing tribute to such an amazing personality. I especially liked the bits of satire with the "Swear Jar" and seeing his fellow troops named "Friday", "Tuesday", and "McFeely". Also the moment where Fred popped out that quip, "This won't "McFeely" good". That was really clever, and that's not sarcasm. :)

Lots of comments pointing out that the real Fred Rogers never served in the military and doubtful he ever fired a shot in anger. That said why am I only now finding these? The entire playlist is friggin AWESOME.

He was one of the best snipers in the Vietnam War, i found out, he has over 50 kills and painted his tattoos for every one of them, he was part of covert ops DEVGRU for 4 years in secret, which is Seal Team 6, obviously he didnt approve of children seeing anything about it, the first super soldiers ever bred even before Desert Storms and the armored sentry as of now. He was deadly, he was a swift killer and respected by his superiors, and me myself, i was in the 28th Infantry Special Troops Detachment ARNG in Desert Storm, Task Force 20, i was a covert op(I was a not non commissioned though i was a citizen guerrilla) so i can see just how it worked with Mister Rogers.

Thumbs up man, gr8 vid, enjoyed it! ;) Loved your Frank Castle and Power Rangers bootlegs too, even more so than the actual Netflix and movie that came out after both of 'em. Just a damn shame you and Tom Jane didn't come back officially and make that Punisher Netflix show or movie... just bringing up Dirty Laundry, because its my all-time favorite fan-film/bootleg, just hope we get a sequel to it one day, you and Jane were perfect... aaaah what could have been!

Mr. Rogers was a Marine, and this movie was painful to watch from every technical aspect, until I just suspended my disbelief and appreciated the art.
