I love this. Not only does this showcase my favorite fictional character, it also shows just how versatile Gambit's mutant abilities are. He's not just about throwing cards. The guy is saturated with kinetic energy, so he constantly has the inherent inertia to perform moves that an Olympic gymnast would need a good running start to pull off. His ability to convert potential energy into unstable kinetic energy means that he can turn anything he touches into a concussion grenade with a short fuse. I love the scene where he sends kinetic energy into his car's brake mechanism to effect a sudden stop. What I DON'T love is Magik as the bad guy. They should have used Spiral or some other morally dubious teleporter (although Remy throwing his cards through her portal was incredibly innovative).

Kevin Feige needs to be contacting the people involved in this. THIS is the Gambit I think every Xmen fan has been waiting to see. This has style and attitude and is so well done. MCU, this is what you need!
Is not a matter to find the right idea. They are already there. The problem is the Disney studios always kissing sjw ass. That’s why plots tend to be so simple, there is no gore nor sex when needed and outfits looks like some power ranger theme fashion parade. Check on youtube and you ll find a video explaining and showing how much cooler all outfit were meant to be for each movie and how Disney studio wiped out till the last of them. they were so much more believable, steam punk, original, I swear every single one was ten times better then the final filtered products
@Da le Disney has always been a family friendly company. I'd prefer my superhero movies without gore and sex, as do many others. You don't need any of that to be mature or get an audience. Batman, Avatar ATLA, Gargoyles, and the original X-Men show all had mature, dark tones and got adult audiences without any gore, sex or going too dark. Something can be satisfying and have a PG or under rating.
it's a business and it's very difficult to write a story that will engage a mainstream audience and a diehard fanbase at the same time. I'm a casual and I don't want to watch his origin story, fans probably do. Plus I doubt they can find an actor that can do the cajun accent justice - an issue I think you might criticize.
There are too many good X-Men out there. I just can't get into the movies Sony put out. I'm hoping Disney reboots the X-Men and gives it the same treatment it did the Avengers. Take decades of characters and plot and take keep at true as possible to the source material.
I mean the old excuse was it would have to be r rated but after deadpool they can do it now . Also they could go many ways with his story hes actually super powerful but has a mental block to keep them under control
I hope Marvel's paying attention to these fan-made films because this is how the Gambit movie should be. they get somebody big like Eric Roberts in there's fan-made film this is pure genius
Years later... Still a Masterclass on how to take a few beloved characters and shape an engaging world in such a short time frame. Take notice Marvel- this is the kind of content comic book "nerds" need. Fund these guys and gals. Great job!
While Hollywood continues to spit out garbage they "recycle", talented filmmakers are out here making fan films better than current movies out right now. Keep creating amazing work!
@@joshuasartain2991 you can say that again. Bateman himself studied and practiced the art of the Bo staff. No wonder he looked so natural with it in these Gambit fan films.
Speaking of recycled garbage, this comment has been remade, reimagined and retarded as long as people have been making, “fan films”. Better than current films? Stop. Just stop. This one in particular is especially awful. You’ve lost your objectivity if you think otherwise. Lower budget shouldn’t mean lower your expectations for what you/we all call, “Good.”
Finally get to see Gambit and Rogue using their powers the right way and talking the way I remember from the cartoon from years back. This is how Anna should have been talking.
Well, they did depower Rogue, but in the overall scheme of things, and knowing them, it was all part of the plan. Rogue does have high invulnerability, strength and speed, so could have easily gotten out of the machine and beat Majik in a second, but then the payday wouldn't have been worth it.
@@russbrewer2778 Rogue doesn't have any of that unless it's the version of her that sapped Ms Marvels powers from the 90s "Uncanny" comics run. Thats not Rogues' "normal" powerset
@@MyZ001not true Rogue gained her powers Oct 1st 1992 while the animated series did not come out until Oct 31st 1992. So she gained then first in the comics and she was originally supposed to be a version of Carol Danvers until the books were cancelled in 1979. Since then she has had Ms. Marvel’s powers. The X-Men movie circa 2000 is the only time that they did not give her the extra power set.
@@jj-ph6rz U are completely wrong... She has absorbing abilities ONLY. The flight, strength, and speed ALL came from Carol Danvers. U don't even know the story lol... Rogue has even been knocked out by Danvers when Danvers had her abilities restored in the comics. Rogue has not had Danvers's abilities for decades now, and I'm 40.
Gambit is such a dynamic character. Expert Martial Artist Expert Acrobat Bojutsu Expert Expert Marksman Master Thief And his powers haven't even been talked about yet. I like a Alpha level Gambit, because he isn't too powerful to not have to integrate his skills with his powers...But if there was one power I would like him to have that he has at a omega level but at a alpha level other than his traditional tactile kinetic conversion and acceleration with inanimate objects would be the ability to absorb kinetic energy as well to enable him to have limitless endurance. The ulitmate defensive and passive power that makes sense for Gambit to have is to not tire on a molecular level. I don't know if it's canon, but I've heard his physique is perfectly constructed for constant movement on a molecular level from stored kinetic energy. That's the coolest concept that goes well with his offensive powerset to charge objects.
This just proves there are people out that that can make a stunning comic adaptation and still stay true to the characters, it's the studio exec's that ruin all these movies.
Gambit was always my favorite. Even without his mutant abilities, the powers he gained from his clan were amazing. People always forget he has supernatural powers as well as mutant abilities.
What's amazing is they actually got an A-List actor to play Nicky (Eric Roberts). Every aspect if this fan-made film is a masterpiece. Marvel should take notes and cast this whole crew
@@GZP1023 I'm trying to figure out how you think he's A c-list actor? He's been in over 500 films and is 1 of numerous A list actors without an Oscar (Example of others w/o: Wood Harrelson, Robert Downey Jr. , Samuel L. Jackson.) If you've been in over so many films and have been nominated on numerous occasions, it shows your worth as an actor.
This is a masterclass: Respect for the source material and knowledge about the characters. Good story and script, solid three acts. Good production. Good cast. Good post-production. A work that shows respect for the fans, who are the core and the heart of your audience. In short: great quality. Disney... Marvel... You are the students in this class, learn.
I have to admit, I'm really impressed. Top notch production, and the Gambit accent reminded me of the X-men animated series. Kudos to the cast and crew for a job well done
Yeah, bro I can't lie when it comes to action/martial arts films. Scenes like that gets my heart racing and adrenaline rushing. I personally was impressed by that part alone. With the exception of how well the actor's portrayal of the Raging Cajun bka Gambit. At the same time Channing Tatum does have the precise face for Gambit. But I'm sold on this actor more/less. He did a great job on every corner of this short film. I wish I could give it ten thumbs up 👍
i know Eric's hurtin for cash but no matter if it's a big budget hollywood blockbuster or an independent net video, he always delivers the goods. it would have been a respectable production anyways BUT watchin Roberts do his thing makes it special. If i had one criticism about this short film - it would be that the talent gap between his acting & the less experienced casts' can be a little distracting.
Disagree. Bad accent. A lot of poor delivery of specific lines. Not all bad just not a great Remy. Believable enough but just doesn't have his swagger. To play Remy one must exude charisma. And that accent is so very specific that it needs to be on point. His normal speech patterns came out too frequently.
He's a modern take on gambit. In the 90s cartoon is the only other comparison they're really is. An it's not realistic for today. The accent is settle, no over done. We have accents but not as thick as hollywood likes you to think we do. Only thing he's missing is contact lenses. Other than that leave it.
watched this when it first came out via facebook. It still gives me the same feeling over a year later. i could watch this over and over like its a blockbuster film. This team deserves the budget to take this to the next level.
I first learned about Gambit as a kid watching Wolverine and the X-men and he's been my favorite ever since. Kickstarted in me a lot of sruff. Love for polearms like his staff, general aesthetic and an undying love for playing cards. This short film showcases him beautifully so thanks for giving one of my childhood heroes his proper treatment
Great film Always loved Gambit as a character. Wanted to see more of him and Logan interacting. The 90s cartoon made me love their dynamic. This film shows exactly why I love gambit and why he is such a smooth badass
As an avid Gambit fan who has felt slighted by his absence and disappointed in the cinematic debut delays, I have to say, this was..... Good Enough! The graphics may not be hollywood masterworks but they were clean and did a great job of getting the point across while conveying the scenes. Some of the pacing and transitions of the dialogue was a bit awkward but overall it was a well put together plot, especially for the time and budget I'd imagine. Im super biased to the 90's X-men voice cast as they really brought the characters alive for me. So I have to say for this project the accents were a bit wanting but the dialogue was SPOT ON! They did a great job embodying the characters and their witty remarks and way of speaking. I also appreciate the attempt at the cajun/creole accent and it wasn't horrible. Remy just has more of a playful inflection and cadence to how he speaks that was missing a bit here. Rogue with that raspy sweet southern screech she has for a voice will probably never be duplicated so I am whelmed to hear her sassiness come across with the southern twang atleast. The wardrobe and action was also put together very well so I was engaged and in tune with the characters and they were instantly recognizable like they hopped out the comic. Magik was the only one I was a bit confused about but not so much because it was terribly difficult to tell who she was but more so because of three things: The actress is a bit older than how im use to seeing Magik and thats not a huge issue, she only used one of her numerous powers although it was the most recognizable and I instantly thought "Is that Magik?", however I was cautious to claim it was Magik because I was so confused as to why she would even be here and what she was doing lol. As Rogue and Magik are in my top female marvel heroes I can see why someone would just shove her in just because so I wasn't upset with it lol Overall, great job and I just appreciate the time and effort that went into all this and as a huge fan of the Ragin Cajun this really was an awesome gift! Keep up the good work and Thanks!
Amazing! One of the most underutilized couples in modern Marvel movie/TV history! They only focused on Wolverine/ Jean/Cyclops love-triangle when they had Rogue and Gambit as well... Gambit follows rogue around like a puppy dog he just adores her! Also Rogue is an actual BA - Class/ Grade Mutant aka BadAss which is such a shame we never got to see her true powers in X-Men/ MCU movies.. same as Gambit other then Origins scenes. With all the material from comics to X-Men TAS and now X-MEN 97' to use..what a shame. But great Vid I can't believe I missed this!
Could be worse, coulda been Deadpool in that one movie.. (But yeah, Gambit is technically, biologically, the most powerful mutant there ever was.. Sadly he couldn't control his powers and was lobotomized, so all he has is the neutered version of what he was born with.)
@@marked4death076 Yeah, Sinister de-powered him at his request because he couldn't control them. Then Gambit time-traveled and had Nathanial Essex (Sinister) put it back in his head. So for a brief period in the Fabian Nicieza ongoing series he was very powerful. But he released it all to win the fight against New Sun and went back to normal at the end. That part of the story's collected in "Gambit Complete Collection vol. 2"
It irks me when vloggers showing cars off get trending yet people who make passion projects with crew and ERIC ROBERTS get very minimal attention. Like this is so great! Cause as much as they can be entertaining people like you have talent
I didn't realize or notice until after watching it that it was actually a fan made film. That makes it a 10 out of 10. Eric Roberts is one of my favorites.
Yea, Fix really screwed the pooch with Dark Phoenix. They should have done Inferno, the special effects are finally there. They introduced Sinister adlt the end of Apocalypse, then Illyana in New Mutants. So bring them together in X-Men: Inferno and then at the end of it, have them concerned about what to do with the new team of mutants... With Cable and Domino (From Deadpool 2) stepping up, like they're taking them in. Then we get an ACTUAL X-Force movie, where maybe they picked a couple more guys up, along the way... Like Warpath or Siryn. Fox could have had their very own universe... But they thought another crack at the Phoenix would solve their problems. Pretty sad when a cartoon has upstaged not one, but two cinematic attempts of a story.

Kevin Feige needs to be contacting the people involved in this. THIS is the Gambit I think every Xmen fan has been waiting to see. This has style and attitude and is so well done. MCU, this is what you need!
Who in the hell is Kevin Frieg!?
I agree this is the attitude of Gambit that Kevin Feige needs to see.
What sold me was his voice work and mannerisms.
They need to pick this guy up for a gambit movie !
i still dont understand how could Xmen have so many movies and almost nothing about this character.
it's a business and it's very difficult to write a story that will engage a mainstream audience and a diehard fanbase at the same time.

Rogue gained her powers Oct 1st 1992 while the animated series did not come out until Oct 31st 1992.
The actors and their accents were amazing!
CGI was EPIC!
And Eric Roberts is the man!
Gambit is such a dynamic character.
Expert Martial Artist
Expert Acrobat
Bojutsu Expert
Expert Marksman
Master Thief
And his powers haven't even been talked about yet.
Yup
Too true.
Well said! they destroy the plots and costumes!!
Especially on the costumes part, if I see another all black X men costume again, ima just go stick to throwbackz

I wouldn't say all of that
Disagree. Bad accent. A lot of poor delivery of specific lines. Not all bad just not a great Remy. Believable enough but just doesn't have his swagger. To play Remy one must exude charisma. And that accent is so very specific that it needs to be on point. His normal speech patterns came out too frequently.
@@Lockn3s5 100% agree, he is servicable at a comic-con, but not anything with a decent budget clearly. Too cosplay-ey

As Rogue and Magik are in my top female marvel heroes I can see why someone would just shove her in just because so I wasn't upset with it lol
Overall, great job and I just appreciate the time and effort that went into all this and as a huge fan of the Ragin Cajun this really was an awesome gift! Keep up the good work and Thanks!
I was thinking the exact same thing lol. Biased to the 90's voice cast and everything.
Yeah the 90's X men was great.
The Aquatic Adventurer II it definitely set the bar and set it pretty high.
Magik threw me off too since she and Rogue are close friends in the comics but it was still a cool little cameo by another x-man
Well said!!!!
I absolutely concur!!!!!!
Gambit has always been my favorite X Men character and I was pissed at how weak they made him in Wolverine...
Could be worse, coulda been Deadpool in that one movie.. (But yeah, Gambit is technically, biologically, the most powerful mutant there ever was.. Sadly he couldn't control his powers and was lobotomized, so all he has is the neutered version of what he was born with.)
