Fitting this level of storytelling into the 30 minute (15 x 2) time limit imposed by CBS is very impressive. The beats felt snappy rather than rushed. Great job.

This is an excellent fan production. Its cored on a TNG-style plotline involving conflict resolution via diplomatic means, time travel, and seeking to understand alien's culture and belief system, just like Gene Roddenberry has wanted it. It doesn't involved action-packed, dark, and gritty plotlines like JJ-Trek and Discovery, yet at the same time takes the idea of religion as a positive inspiration for scientific discovery and as a means to understand the universe seriously, unlike 'The Orville' which simply dismisses religion as a source of war, prejudice, and other things evil, which is often true, but throws out its the positive aspects out of the window. I really like the cast members who are playing Starfleet officers. The actresses who played the captain and the XO did a good job playing TNG-era Starfleet officers, those who can be diplomats who negotiate with other aliens, anthropologists who try to understand their cultures, and detective/investigators who investigated a space incident/phenomena and tried to find resolutions to them. Hopefully there will be more episodes featuring the adventures of USS Vigilance and her crew. If the quality of plot and the writing is as this good, it has a lot of potential as an alternative series beyond the Trek canon. Two thumbs up!!
I am so over JJ-Trek and Discovery. Like a bad dream on an alternative timeline that will hopefully be soon forgotten. This is what StarTrek should be!
So worth waiting for! Efficient storytelling and plotting, decent actors, new TNG sets that fit perfectly into the canon (even Auxiliary Control!) and so much more. The discussion of faith is something S2 DSC hinted at but never truly explored, but you really do it justice. The Bridge looks great! I know exactly how much you built, but the matting is seamless. The scifi elements are an essential component and well done, but where the writing really excels is in the characters (just as with your previous productions). And the ending really surprised me. All in all this is a classic Trek tale, I cannot congratulate everyone involved enough.
So worth having contributed to, to create and all you said as well Matt, right hand up, slap our hands in agreement of great production from our friends Star Trek The Holy Core - A Star Trek Fan Production (Parts I & II) by Gary O'Brien and crew, thank you all
Thanks for watching and the positive comments, Matt. We tried to make something that would be strong thematically and narrative wise. Gary deserves so much praise for his incredible work on this short film.
This was the best fan film I’ve seen so far. Great plot, wonderful acting, engaging characters, and a true to form TNG era story. I have to admit, I teared up at the nostalgia of the credits. Wonderful work, all of you

That was so good! Your production value is insanely good, and both the acting and the writing were on point. I even got a little choked up when Jennifer was transmitting that final message. Really well done.
I'm a little late but, I just watched this 30 minute episode and holy crap I felt more in this condensed TNG-esque episode than anything on Discovery, let alone Picard. If you've never seen this, give it a watch. Totally worth it. I actually damn near shed a tear by the end because it actually felt like Star Trek.

I have always been a massive Star Trek fan, having every film released on either 4K or Standard Blu-Ray, the restored original series and TNG on Blu-Ray and an avid fan of fan made releases like the brilliant Star Trek Continues, Axanar and others. THIS production made with such love, outstanding acting, effects, music and writing, had me SO engaged in minutes that I literally forgot it was fan made and I kept waiting to see and hear the TNG cast enter a scene. I am so impressed and happy to have finally come across this masterpiece. Bravo.
Thank you Mark! I'm really glad you had that reaction to our film 🙂 You might enjoy our other TNG era fan film "Chance Encounter" too: ua-cam.com/video/vuMFDtpjA3M/v-deo.html
If you had ever told me that fan made ST would ever reach this high level of production, I would not have believed it. The nuances, from the sounds effect, the music, the story with a lesson and purposes, just overwhelming.
Watched Star Trek TOS, as a child, when it first went into syndication about early to mid-70's. I'm 54 now and have watched every TREK iteration. In one way or another, I've, literally, watched TREK everyday for about FIFTY years. I think i've earned the right to express what IS or what ISN'T Trek. "The Holy Core" and "Chance Encounter" are absolutely STAR TREK. The stuff CBS is putting out most certainly is not.
CBS really needs to pull the stick out of their collective 4th point of contact and allow fans to make fan film content. It hurts nothing in the end and only gives them more to feed from with ideas on where the fans want to see the universe go and not a bunch of bureaucrats in Hollywood with their personal agendas. Good film! Looking forward to seeing more!
Hey, I can see both points of view because no one wants their product diluted and cheap knock-offs taking away from their property. I mean they could find themselves strapped for cash somehow ;-) I think the rules are fair actually. In fact, the guidelines provide discipline and a sense of order, which is very representative of the Star Trek universe itself. Thanks for commenting and watching the film.
This is what real Star Trek is about! In under 30 minutes you made me care about all of the characters and created an alien society that was believable. I wish CBS would get back to this type of story telling. Thank you so much for your hard work.
This was so true to the spirit of Star Trek and genuinely better then anything made under the name for a while. I wish my mom could have seen this. Thank you so much to everyone involved in this production. I hope you all live long and prosper.

I honestly felt like I was truly watching a lost episode of the TNG! This was so wonderfully executed. Great writing, acting, directing, special effects... Thanks for adding another chapter to TNG legacy!
Thank you, I really enjoyed this polished fan film. Well done to everyone involved. If this is the quality you're producing on a shoe-string budget, I cannot possibly imagine what you'd achieve if you were given just 10% of Star Trek Discovery's budget! Try to get some of the popular sci-fi UA-camrs to mention this video, their followers will thank them for it. BTW, it's a shame Cmdr Boltzmann was blown up, she would have been great to have in a future episode. Stop blowing up good actors! LOL!
Probably the best fan film I have ever seen. Felt like discovering a lost episode, a lovely feeling to be back in the realm of this show so thank you very much. Executed beautifully. Immediately rewatched it from the start when the credits appeared, can't remember any film or TV episode that last made me do that. What an achievement, well done.
I've been waiting for this since it was first announced and it did not disappoint. Great work guys. Everyone who worked on this deserves a pat on the back. There were times where I forgot this was a fan film and just sat there taking it in. You could tell with an extra 15 mins, this would have made an excellent episode of TNG.
Thanks V-Doc, glad you thought so! Our other TNG era fan film "Chance Encounter" is here if you want to take a look: ua-cam.com/video/vuMFDtpjA3M/v-deo.html
This showcases so much talent in front of and behind the camera, i hope good things come as a result. Well done to all involved. It's a good sign when you genuinely want to see more of these characters, it is definitely a testament to the writing and the acting.
This does credit to Gene Roddenberry. The props, sets, costumes, and special effects. A good story set in that time. Just like those made by fans set in the original series. It shows the love fans have for the franchise and what it was about. Thought provoking and above all entertainment without preaching. Great film! Keep it real and awesome!🖖
Thanks Donald. It means a lot that the script I worked on and all the tireless graft Gary put in as director, editor and production expert did is being appreciated.
Congratulations on a fantastic production! I love just how faithful you guys are to the style of TNG. Some terrific performances, clever use of the limited (but well designed) sets and a truly 'of the era' story! Really enjoyed it!
Wow, a brilliant way to be back in the TNG universe! Growing up with that “era” of Star Trek, made this a wonderful reliving of those wonderful times, and boy how it makes you long for more of that same great storytelling! Looking forward to your next productions!

There are currently two broadcasts that produce star trek or type programs. You beat them. Congratulations from another true Trek fan. Job very well done.
As an evangelical Christian myself, I really appreciate how this production handles the role and value of faith in a respectful manner, like Deep Space Nine did too. God bless you all and Gennus be with you too! :)
I really love how the got the feel of some of the regular less attention focused episodes. The cultural representation felt spot on. Performances were great, and the technical and audio production felt true to how the original felt. I was 14 when ST:TNG aired and this really brought the nostalgia feels. As God Tod says “It just works!”
well what can i say i like this its a origanal startrek tng story which i very much enjoyed watching keep up the awesome work i think this would be awesome if you guys did a series of episodes fting captain keller and the crew of the Vigilants with "The Holy Core" being the pilot episode :D

Hopefully there will be more episodes featuring the adventures of USS Vigilance and her crew. If the quality of plot and the writing is as this good, it has a lot of potential as an alternative series beyond the Trek canon. Two thumbs up!!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment so positively. Cheers
Nice one - thanks Matt. Be sure to spread the word :-)
Already done :-)
So worth having contributed to, to create and all you said as well Matt, right hand up, slap our hands in agreement of great production from our friends Star Trek The Holy Core - A Star Trek Fan Production (Parts I & II) by Gary O'Brien and crew, thank you all
Thanks for watching and the positive comments, Matt. We tried to make something that would be strong thematically and narrative wise. Gary deserves so much praise for his incredible work on this short film.
@@Raggedymannn Thanks Rick
This was the best fan film I’ve seen so far. Great plot, wonderful acting, engaging characters, and a true to form TNG era story. I have to admit, I teared up at the nostalgia of the credits. Wonderful work, all of you
Thanks for such kind words :-)
I must say this is very well done in all aspects. Best fan film I've seen.
Thank you again, so much 🙂 Our other TNG era fan film "Chance Encounter" is here if you want some more: ua-cam.com/video/vuMFDtpjA3M/v-deo.html
Thanks very much! Appreciate you watching.
Absolutely first class. Well written, well directed , well produced, and really well performed. Brilliant
Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. We're hoping to bring the same quality to our next fan film, albeit in a very different genre! The crowdfunder for our "A-Team" film still has time left to back if you're interested. You can find it here! www.kickstarter.com/projects/a-teamfanfilm/the-a-team-fan-film
Thanks Bruce - really appreciate the kind words!
That was so good! Your production value is insanely good, and both the acting and the writing were on point. I even got a little choked up when Jennifer was transmitting that final message. Really well done.
Thanks Mary for your kind comments and taking the time to watch our film.
Fantastic production! I liked how Starfleets morals were questioned as well!
Thanks. We thought it'd be fun to play devils advocate in a way.
Thanks for watching Jamie. Yes, we wanted some balance and good motivation in regard to the antagonist and Starfleet's actions.
Gods. It felt like I was 12 again watching Star Trek TNG all over again. Great fan production, WELL done.
Thank you Erragar - I'm glad it took you back! :-)
So glad you enjoyed it - wonderful comments too :-)
I'm a little late but, I just watched this 30 minute episode and holy crap I felt more in this condensed TNG-esque episode than anything on Discovery, let alone Picard. If you've never seen this, give it a watch. Totally worth it. I actually damn near shed a tear by the end because it actually felt like Star Trek.
Ah! That is so kind - thanks 🙂
Agreed, this is well written TNG era storytelling.
it's unbelievable how much better and true to form this is than the new full production Star Trek shows! The acting is even better!
Thank you! We're very pleased with the performances our cast gave, and like to think the story works too! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Our other TNG era fan film "Chance Encounter" is here: ua-cam.com/video/vuMFDtpjA3M/v-deo.html if you want to take a look 🙂
That's great - thanks for watching!
Kudos! An unusually sophisticated storyline for a TREK film and indeed compared to a good fistful of TNG episodes.
Much obliged David. We really appreciate your constructive comments and for watching.
Now we NEED a continuation of this series!!!
Thanks for watching and the positive comment!
I agree! More of this!!!!
Good to see " Star Trek" still being made.
Cheers Mike
@@FPSD Thank you SO much and I will absolutely watch it very soon.
Wow! Thanks, Mark for your very appreciative words. It means a lot when people enjoy the films as much as we enjoyed making them.
Very fine production on all counts. So good to hear British accents and actor acting so very well.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it 🙂There's plenty of behind the scenes videos on the channel if you're interested in the production process.
This is REAL Star Trek, unlike STD. Thanks to the team that created this.
Thanks for watching Rebecca and the really positive comments!
If you had ever told me that fan made ST would ever reach this high level of production, I would not have believed it. The nuances, from the sounds effect, the music, the story with a lesson and purposes, just overwhelming.
Thanks Daniel - I really appreciate your comment :-) You may like our other Star Trek film too: ua-cam.com/video/vuMFDtpjA3M/v-deo.html
Thanks Daniel - you're really kind to say!
Wow, thanks Sal Sanchez :-) I'm really glad that you enjoyed both our films so much. It means a lot. Thank you!
Thanks for watching and commenting so positively, Sal. Means alot, especially from a bona fide Star Trek fan.
I mean they could find themselves strapped for cash somehow ;-)
I think the rules are fair actually.
Thanks very much - we appreciate you watching our film and taking time to comment.
This was so true to the spirit of Star Trek and genuinely better then anything made under the name for a while. I wish my mom could have seen this. Thank you so much to everyone involved in this production. I hope you all live long and prosper.
Thanks Mike!
Thank you for that episode it was truly Star Trek. Thank you so much.
Thanks Edwin for watching and the kind comments.
THIS HAS DONE FOR NEXT GENERATION FANS, WHAT STAR TREK CONTINUES , AND NEW VOYAGES DID FOR THE ORIGINAL SERIES!!!GARY BAILEY KING OF DARKNESS ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW!!!
Thank you! High praise indeed 😊
WITH YOUR OUTSTANDING QUALITY IN SETS, UNIFORMS, DIALOG,ACTING, SHIPS, AND OVERALL QUALITY IT IS I WHO SHOULD BE THANKING YOU, AND THANKS FOR THE HEART BLACK DOT, SMILEY FACE, LOVE IT!!GARY BAILEY KING OF DARKNESS
looks like you rounded up every good looking actor and actress in Britain who wanted to be in Trek... nice to hear all the parts done with a British accent... production values look great , the script is excellent, story is excellent , everyone can actually act,....rivals the real TNG..... great job...

Nailed it! Great job! This is more legit "Star Trek" than anything official in over a decade. Truly in the spirit of the originals.
Cheers Joe!
I honestly felt like I was truly watching a lost episode of the TNG! This was so wonderfully executed. Great writing, acting, directing, special effects... Thanks for adding another chapter to TNG legacy!
Thanks Jarrod for watching and the very positive comments.
I enjoy fan productions of TREK, STAR WARS, et. al., so I watch a great many of them. This one is superb. Really well done.
LOL!
Cheers Gary - it's so cool you have watched our film and taken the time to comment so positively.
That was fantastic, really felt like seeing a lost TNG era episode, great cast and production, look forward to more from you guys!

I absolutely loved watching your movie! It was like watching an episode of Next Generation! Acting, sets, costume, etc , brilliant! 🤘😁🖖🇨🇦❤️
Thanks, Colin. It's great you enjoyed our story so much :-)
Outstanding. Please don't stop making these. Excellent work all around.
Thanks very much for watching our film!!
Thanks man :-)
Thanks Jeremy for watching and the kind comments! Awesome!
Really good. Best TNG era fan production!
Thank you!
Wow! Thanks for the amazing comments!
Stumbled onto this in 2024. It's a wonderful production. I'm particular about Trek, but I can't find any fault, only praise. Well done! Thank you.
@@radsirnah4773 Ahhh, thank you! That's great to hear 😊
This was shockingly well put together, and well acted.
Thank you!
Thanks Jonathon - appreciate your positive words.
Great production values and high quality performances. Great episodes.
Thanks Melvin
I've been waiting for this since it was first announced and it did not disappoint. Great work guys. Everyone who worked on this deserves a pat on the back. There were times where I forgot this was a fan film and just sat there taking it in. You could tell with an extra 15 mins, this would have made an excellent episode of TNG.
That's very cool of you, thanks McShave!
Thanks for the wonderful comments :-)
Oh my God....THIS IS GOOD
Thanks very much
Wow, just wow. The acting was good, the sets, the effects very good, the mood was perfect. You matched TNG so exactly, really perfect. Thank you!

Jj abrams and cbs take notes. Truly GREAT work.
Thanks for watching :-)
Excellent work everyone. This felt like a broadcast TNG episode. Kudos to you all for your hard work and great storytelling.
Thanks for the kind comments!!
This showcases so much talent in front of and behind the camera, i hope good things come as a result. Well done to all involved. It's a good sign when you genuinely want to see more of these characters, it is definitely a testament to the writing and the acting.
Wow! such great praise. Thanks!
That was excellent! One of the best fan creations I've ever seen! FX are proper broadcast quality too. Amazing.
Thanks - that's very kind of you to say.
@donaldkroth2579 Glad you enjoyed our films! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave comments! 🙂
Thanks Donald. It means a lot that the script I worked on and all the tireless graft Gary put in as director, editor and production expert did is being appreciated.
So professionally done! It feels like a true ST:TNG episode. Bravo!
Thanks, you might like our other tng film too, Chance Encounter. It's on this channel too 🙂
@@FPSD Thank you. I'm going to watch them all 😀

Congratulations on a fantastic production! I love just how faithful you guys are to the style of TNG. Some terrific performances, clever use of the limited (but well designed) sets and a truly 'of the era' story! Really enjoyed it!
Thanks Aaron - you're very kind!
Nice one Aaron - I appreciate that coming from you. You've done some great films yourself in my opinion :-)
AWESOME! Great work! Looking forward to seeing more great material, and hopefully collaborating with our new TNG era sets and show too!
Cheers Jojo
Wow, a brilliant way to be back in the TNG universe! Growing up with that “era” of Star Trek, made this a wonderful reliving of those wonderful times, and boy how it makes you long for more of that same great storytelling! Looking forward to your next productions!
Thanks Ray - Sounds like we did what we hoped we would. Glad you enjoyed it :-)

Wonderful production, costumes and sets with excellent performances made this worth a watch. Hope you do some more.
Thank you!

There are currently two broadcasts that produce star trek or type programs. You beat them. Congratulations from another true Trek fan. Job very well done.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :-) Be sure to share the link around for me!
We really appreciate you watching and commenting so positively!
love it, felt like TNG, characters music and sets felt so nostalgic, i wouldnt mind seeing those actors and characters again they where very watchable
Thanks Andy! I'm glad you got a nostalgia hit from the film :-)
Thanks for the very kind words, Andy!
As an evangelical Christian myself, I really appreciate how this production handles the role and value of faith in a respectful manner, like Deep Space Nine did too. God bless you all and Gennus be with you too! :)
Hi Christian - thanks for the comment (and for watching!) I'm glad you felt we handled the religious aspects respectfully :-)
Hey Christian, thanks for your very kind comments - much appreciated :-)
You couldn't have a more awesome name, Christian. :)
And Brother Yeshua's name is Jesus in Hebrew.
@@kathys9218 Nothing respectful. Prabhu Yesu means Lord Jesus in Hindi, the main Indian language.
I immedately noticed the quality of the acting in this. It is far above the performances I've seen it the TNG-era shows produced by the franchise.
Even better than 'Chance Encounter'. This is the best Star Trek fan film I've ever seen.
Thanks again! I'm really glad you enjoyed our films! 🙂
Thanks Joshua - really appreciate your kind words
This was extremely good. Shame you're limited by CBS cuz this is a quality production imho
Thanks for watching, Ralph! I understand the guidelines due to protection of the brand, plus it gives you some parameters to work within. So all good!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it :-) Maybe check out our other TNG film too: ua-cam.com/video/vuMFDtpjA3M/v-deo.html
well what can i say i like this its a origanal startrek tng story which i very much enjoyed watching keep up the awesome work i think this would be awesome if you guys did a series of episodes fting captain keller and the crew of the Vigilants with "The Holy Core" being the pilot episode :D
Oh that would be great! Just need the budget and we're away!! Thanks for watching :-)
Genuinely well done, not just the set and costume design, but story sound and lighting are all very good and reminiscent of the era. Your actors did a wonderful job. The pacing of the story was also very well done.
Thank you! We tried our best to up the production value as high as we could with the resources and money we had. We're also proud of the performances from our cast, and our story! I'm glad you liked it too, thanks for commenting 😊
