In regard to Patrick's mission to Ireland, Palladius preceded him as well as the fact that there were other ways that Christianity reached Ireland. There was trading with the British and with the Gauls on the continent and refugees from the continent fleeing oppression. Twenty years previous to Palladius there was Pelagius, an Irish monk, who taught that people were NOT born with Original Sin but were born with the free will to behave righteously as they wished. We are told that Ireland was a barbarian state until Patrick came and civilised us with Christianity, but in fact Ireland had produced Pelagius - a well educated (he wrote and spoke in Latin and Greek) man who was well versed in theology. The fact that he came from Ireland suggests that there was a strong community of Christians already here long before Patrick. March 17th is St. Patrick's Day, supposedly because he died on this date but I suspect because it supplants the Spring Equinox.
The shrine at Mám Éan, which means "Pass of the Birds" is reputedly one of the places where Patrick stopped when he was travelling Ireland on his mission although he was in fact based in the north east of the country and is buried in Downpatrick in Northern Ireland.
What a touching walk in the beauty of Ireland 🇮🇪. My rose colored glasses came off when I started asking questions the priests wouldn't answer. There is a strong knowing within the soul that draws us to the Truth, the Spirit, and the Wisdom. It is a great honor to be a student of a true Wisewoman. Thank you Terri and Lol for your dedication to the the Spirit of land and all that comes from it. ☘️🍀☘️
Thanks so much Kavannah, isn't it great to meet like minds and share that soul knowing. Blessings xxx
Thank you Terri for todays video -It is so true that history is written by the conquerors which is not the true narrative.
I am not a sure mankind has learned much from the past especially given what is presently transpiring in our world and it gives me
great concern but because I cannot change this and to avoid feeling totally helpless I can do good for Mother Earth and my family and friends
and lead a life that respects the earth and ourselves no matter what culture religion etc.
We are all connected .Blessings to you and yours Terri ❤️
I think that is the only way we can be. The psychopaths don't understand that caring for our Earth and for friends and families will never change. That is how we are powerful!! xx💚
Thank you for a wonderful video. I definitely felt Goddess energy in that landscape, all the beautiful water flowing and the cave. Holy places are holy and sacred to all. Blessings
Holy places are holy , just pause and be still and you know it.
I am also not a fan of St. Patrick. I would much rather pay respect to St. Columba. He incorporated pagan beliefs with Christian ones. He blessed the holy wells and did not demonize the old ways. Palladius came before Patrick. I suppose the pope thought he was not tough enough and replaced him with Patrick. Thus, the good old boys took over and the Mother was brutalized. I pray for the balance to return. Thank you for the journey. It was lovely walking with you.
Thank you, Terri! As always, your sharing and information fascinates, and restores my spirit! Thank you for the excursion.
Happy to have you along. Glad you enjoyed it x
You did a beautiful job of telling the history and also sharing your thoughts. How special to come along with you! Thank you
Magnificent 🌹 Thank you Terri for this Beautiful Journey 🌹 Many Blessings to you 🌹🌹🌹
You are so welcome Abby. Thanks xx
Thank you for sharing the treck up to St Patrick's shrine, beautiful country. ☘️
What wonderful countryside, thank you Terri for another very interesting video!
What a beautiful walk, I’m getting a feel for the energy of the place just by watching this video. The talk was fascinating. I’m ashamed of how little I knew about Patrick before I watched this. I’m off to research more.
In the summer it is even better with the sound of the skylarks and the sheep with their lambs. Enjoy your research. x
Thank you for sharing this walk and having moments of quiet in the video and listening to the brooks.
Challenges all of us to understand the rift, between worshipping the creator and not only the creation. To have peace in ourselves with the creator (unadorned with male or female personifications) and to be grateful for our brief existence in the wonderful creation.
The carpenter stained glass is Jesus.
May we all grow in kindness and gratefulness despite the past violence
Very Nice, Thank You for sharing.
Many Blessings !
The 12:00 mark is my fav. I like her hat too!
WOW the landscape up there is stunning, and showcased brilliantly by Lol's filmwork. The golden colours are so dreamy. Thank you Terri for bringing us along on your pilgrimage, I love hearing you talk of history and folklore. You always make me feel like I am walking alongside you :)
What a glorious landscape. That was a long climb which I couldn't manage these days, but I remember struggling to get up Croagh Patrick even as a fit child which was sheer in spots and having to crawl up on my hands and knees! What a view of Clew Bay though from the top. Thank you for taking us up the mountain with you and for all the fascinating history.
This is a hundred times easier than Croagh Patrick! The view is worth it though. Glad you enjoyed this Rozanna xx
wondrous 🍀
Love this. Thank you. In NY there is the most beautiful cathedral to St. Patrick and they have a You Tube Chanel where they even hold masses you can watch.
I have heard of St. Patricks in NY.
Thanks for taking us along on a mini pilgrimage to a sacred place. I love the stark emptiness, a place unencumbered by onlookers. It's my kind of spiritual place. I visited the shrine to Mother Seton near Emmitsburg Maryland in the late 70's, and it has its small stone chapel and sacred spring/well from which the saint and her band of nuns drank from when they retreated into the wilderness. I guess we saints are moved by such wild places. Blessings.
An excellent video!!! I find it very interesting that it's for St Patrick, but his window is on the side and Bridget's window is in the front. Thank you and Lol for sharing your talents, wisdom and Ireland's beauty and true history with us.
YEs - I hadn't thought of that. I don't think anything is purely by chance.....
What a gorgeous view and place. I got exhausted watching you climb!!
IT looked further and tougher than it was!
I assume your cameraman was your hubby - kudos to him, he did a really good job. Thank you so much for taking us along Terri, I really enjoyed this video...so informative. I have never heard Mary referred to as the Queen of Heaven before...love that x
Yes, it was him. So glad you enjoyed it. In Catholicism Mary is Queen of Heaven and Star of the Sea.
Fabulous video. Such a peaceful, beautiful place. The history lesson was great, as well.
Thank you Katsem. x
A beautiful video 💚🌀☘️
Really enjoyed this, been learning so much these last few years. Thank you so much for all your teaching this is true wealth.
You are so kind Christine - glad you liked it. x
Thank you for this lovely videoTerri
It's certainly a hike isn't it . I saw it on TV last year how people / pilgrims walk for miles to get to the monument . It's amazing .
Blessings and hugs to you ...
💚🙏
The land there looks absolutely enchanting and pure. Wonderful video as always. Love from London in Canada
I finally had a chance to sit and watch this whole video, and I absolutely love it. The way you teach history is just so pleasing and peaks my curiosity to find out more. I am fascinated by the Druid practices and beliefs and since watching your videos, I have begun to feel a more spiritual connection to nature. I see and hear and feel more on my hikes here in the Ozarks of Missouri. After watching this, I have decided I must do this pilgrimage myself even though I'm neither Catholic nor Druid (nor Irish! Haha!). Thank you for all the time and effort you and Lol put into your videos!
That is wonderful to hear - about your spiritual connection to Nature, although I think that was bound to happen with all your hiking. Druidry is very similar to the Native American spirituality in that everything is animated by a spirit whether it is an animal or a plant or a rock or a mountain or a tree or a person! Thanks for watching.x
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Well that makes sense to me then. Although she eventually went west to Oregon in 1852, my 3rd great grandmother learned medicinal practices from the Delaware Indians here in the hills of Missouri. I feel a strong kinship to her and wonder sometimes if her spirit is still in these hills. Is that weird? Thank you again.
What a marvelous video. I really enjoyed this type to see you visit a local site and hear the pre Christian history. Thank you for sharing!! 🌛🌕🌜
You are so welcome Lucas, glad you enjoyed it. x
Wow! What a breathtakingly beautiful place. Thank you so much for sharing your hike and knowledge with us.
You are so welcome Beverly, glad you enjoyed it. x
I love you Terri and Hubby...for showing us these wonders. Be forever blessed xxx
Many Happy Returns Moira and thank you ! xx
Beautiful, the view from the shrine is breath-taking. Thank you for showing us the well and using your amateur archaeology skills. so much history lost to us. You are so right when will we ever learn.
When indeed??!! Glad you enjoyed the hike and the views xx
This is fascinating. I'd hike there if I return to Ireland. Such a beautiful country and so full of energies of all kinds.
It certainly is. xx
Thank you for sharing, beautiful scenery, reminds me of the Mourne mountains not far from me in Northern Ireland. I was raised Christian too, but came away from all of that years ago, I'm proud to be a pagan and love Mother Earth. Thirty miles from me is the town of Downpatrick where st Patrick's grave is. Loving all your videos along with Bealtaine cottage, thank you once again xx
Good to meet you Maxine. Thanks for watching xx
Thankyou Terri for this wonderful video on St Patrick.
I enjoyed it immensely. You have such great way of presenting and explaining..
You're videos are such a pleasure to watch.. Helen ❤️
Delighted to hear that and thank you xx
Thank you I enjoy all of this story telling Terry. Cheers
My absolute favourite of your videos. If you could do more like this that would be amazing!
I have something in mind xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Just found your channel and subscribed. Loved your trip to St Patrick's shrine. The scenery so magnificent. The mass rocks were told to me by my grand father who lived through hard times and he passed on a lot of our family history. Thanks for taking us along on your journey and I know I will enjoy your channel. Blessings to you.
A friend & I were watching this video at his house. We love your channel.
Thank you so much for this video the magical place you brought to us ,thank you for all your videos and teachings I’m grateful to know a little bit more about where you at your country.
Blessings of joy to you and yours 🍀
🍀💚 Happy Saint Patrick Day 🍀💚
Such a beautiful area. ❤ Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you -- that was wonderful !
Thank you for sharing this little pilgrimage, your knowledge and your inquiries!
I play Celtic folk harp, and have often been asked to play St Patrick's Day gigs - and love hearing the stories related to this day ☘
You're welcome Nadya. How lovely to be able to play the Celtic Harp. xxx
Thank you Terri and Lol for the fabulous video. I enjoy your visits to historic places and learning something about them. This is not an easy walk I can see, especially the parts that are slippery and uneven with rocky footing as you ascend. I found the scenery beautiful and the short narrative very interesting. Thank you for sharing this with everyone.
Thank you for watching Catherine - so glad you enjoyed it. x
How wonderful! Thank you for sharing this I have been binge-watching your videos for a couple of days now, and I must say that they are fascinating, educational and downright comforting to the soul. Thank you!
From Copenhagen, Denmark
You are so welcome! Thanks for your kind words xx
Colmcille, Patrick and Brigid of Kildare are probably the 3 Irish Saints depicted on the glass.
Great shows. Informative and much appreciated. Love from your cousin in Scotland 😊
Glad you are enjoying the videos xx
This video was like an actual documentary. I loved all that peace and solitude - you should have had a picnic with some tea.
Maybe next time in Summer.
The arrival of Palladius
Saint Palladius set sail for Ireland arriving at Hy-Garchon, known today as Wicklow, in 431AD. However, his stay would be very short-lived. The inhabitants of Hy-Garchon banished him from their land so he left and set sail again. Palladius next landed at the Orkney Islands in Scotland and never return to Ireland again.
Thank you so much for taking me all the way from northern Maine to a wonderful place! I really enjoy your channel. 💖
You're a good historian T.C. Have learned a lot. Wonderful post. Thank you!
I trained as a historian - I love history and I think it is a fascinating subject, especially when you do your own research and find that it is not always the same story we are told in school.
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Indeed. We must suppose those educating us did their best. So much has been hidden from many. Thanks again. Looking forward to more.
Thank you Terri for this beautiful video. The tranquility and peace of this place is just amazing and awe inspiring. Blessings to you
So very peaceful, a really lovely place. Blessings to you Delores xx
This was a treat and delight. Thank you for sharing this lovely hike etc with us !!!!! I never knew he was a Sheppard. 👍🏻❤️🍀🙏
So glad you liked it. Yes - strange to think that a saint may have had an ordinary life!!
Oh so lovely those pictures and the history you tell us, you are a very interesting women, I always learned something from you’re videos, thank you so much to share it with us I appreciate a lot, it is peaceful, spiritual and full of love for nature. The scenery is so beautiful, thanks for taking us with you!
It is very much. Glad you liked it. x
Stunning panoramas ,interesting history .Druidism is very active again ,I don't know if you know that our chosen chief druid(of OBOD) is Irish ,Eimear took over some two years ago .💚
Yes I did know. I think I met her very briefly about ten years ago. It is wonderful to see that it is on the increase, that more people are turning back to Nature Spirituality
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Happy St Patrick's day on Thursday
Wow what a beautiful video Terri..thanks so much..and beautifully filmed too...interesting to see this ..have a great week 💜👍🏻
I will - thanks Redbush xx
Lovely
Thank you for sharing this Teri, made me reflect on similarities between the Welsh & Scottish sacred sites & their connections with Ireland.
When you come to Wales you need to visit North Pembs, where St Brynach (an Irish St) used to commune with Angels. Such a powerful place.I felt a strong connection with the Welsh Goddess Rhiannon there.
Ps Would love to sing up for your herbal course once I finish the wise woman training xx
I agree re the sacred connections of our Isles especially the Celtic countries. Please do sign up! Would love to have you when you are ready xxx
Thank you for that lovely walk to the shrine.
You are very welcome! Happy Paddy's Day!
What an amazing view. Goddess Bless!
May the Goddess be with you Amy xx

That water looks so clear. That really was very interesting.
I thought I knew a lot about Irish history. I learned a lot more today. Thanks Teri!
I think we have a very interesting history - so much to discover still x
I was so lucky to stay with a friend who has the most fantastic view of St Patrick’s Mount. Her son used to run up it on pilgrimage day and she told me she used to watch him go through the binoculars😂 It’s the most beautiful place and I remember the air being so clean and fresh and the lichen growing was incredible.Owenwee , Westport… I’d love to go back one day.I had the same experience growing up Catholic my family come from Dublin.I too came full circle and I feel my heart lies within nature and Mother Earth.🌀🌱🙏🏼
I am not far from there - maybe 30-40 miles. Lots of lichen on all the trees because the air is so fresh. My heart too. xx
so stunningly beautiful. I feel better whenever I watch one of your lovely videos.
That is so good to know - thank you MaHa!

Thank you Terri!! What a wonderful trip to Saint Patrick’s shrine! I am so far away from there but I can feel the magic ❤️From Argentina, Eli 🕊
Blessings Eli! Thanks for watching.
So beautiful there, must explore this area soon. I ve already climbed Croagh Patrick and it was magical. Thank you Terri loved the scenery on your walk
If you liked Croagh Patrick you will love this because it doesn't have the same touristy vibe - it is just as it is here.
Such beautiful landscape.
I agree. Wild and atmospheric xx
Hiya Terri Thankyou for sharing today’s video. Oh you&yours must have been chilly so appreciated. I’m sure a nice hot soup & hot bath were had when you got home. Blessings luv Ontario Canada 🐝
It was chilly heading back to the car but we were pretty warm from the walk. Thank you for your consideration. xx
Lovely! So much information and of course the scenery is spectacular. It reminds me of the fairy pools on Skye.
Thank you 🍀💚
Terri you are awesome. I love your energy and your honesty about everything. I hope I can meet you some day. I think we are kindred spirits.
I am sure we are Brenda!💚😃
Thank you Terry for taking us to such a wonderful place and for sharing your inspiring thoughts and feelings when you are immersed in the magical Irish nature. I've been in Ireland only once and I'm looking forward to come back again (I live in Italy and, by the way, sorry for my English....Fortunately I can understand all that you say). You are such a nice person! ☘😍
Actually, your English is perfect, much better than my Italian!!! xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden 🙏💚
I have always said that our little part of south Eastern Idaho looks like Ireland with its barren, rolling hills. This video confirms that. I wish you could see it! Thank you for the lovely ramble. I so enjoy your field trips.
So glad to hear that you enjoyed the ramble Jen. xx
Are you up by Arco?
@@belwynne1386 Bear Lake Valley is where we own land and will build a homestead in two more years when my husband retires. It's a beautiful little valley.
Thank you both for such a wonderful video ! amazing scenery and a fascinating history lesson.
I share your views on history being riddled with bias, and organized religion sometimes goes astray ... Nature is always worthy of our reverence. Thanks again for sharing
Slainte !

Slaínte! xxx
A veneer! That is a great metaphor. I'll start using that! Thank you for the lessons!
Thank you! x
Blessings - Happy st Patrick’s day - wonderful video thank you so much for sharing , can’t wait to hear the story of the lake ☘️xx
Blessings to you. May you never be cold or hungry. No luck yet with the lake but will do an update when I find out. xx

Glad you enjoyed it! xx
What a beautiful & historical video! Breathtaking views!! Thanks!! 👍👍❤️❤️
You're welcome! xx
Woowww thank you so much for this beautiful trip and scenery!
Definitely St Patrick's Chappel is magical!
Lots of love.
Love to you too Olga xx
Thanks Terri I'll add that to my to do list ! Can't believe the sunny weather and lack of wind & rain unlike Co Clare today !! I too was raised Catholic but the lack of love & compassion always bothered me I now know it's because the Church is based on a lie and that Mary Magdalene was the No. 1 disciple and not Peter and her gospel is everything I felt and reflects the true spiritual nature of connecting to all through the heart and it too rejects the idea/concept of sin
There are several Gospels that we have been denied sad to say. I agree with you Marie. We were lucky with the weather, back to wind and rain again today.😩
Oh ! That was a wonderful trip out with you , thankyou ! What a beautiful place ❤💚❤
So glad you liked it Daisy - thank you!
Just wonderful.. Thank you so much xx
Thanks for watching xx
