Just imagine being 14 years old hearing this for the 1st time. Been there, done that. Bought Zeppelin IV my freshman year of high school. This doesn't get old, I did, but this doesn't. Music from the sixties, seventies and early eighties sounded so much like the album, with the occasional improv, because there wasn't a lot of tweaking at the mixing board like music that came after it.
I bought this album sometime after it came out (in 2003?), would have been only 13 or 14 yrs old. I played it a lot on my "walkman". Greatest live music album ever imo. Kicks so much ass.
I have consumed music for most of my 60yrs and there are many bands that I don't like as much as I used to, yet Zep and two others (Pink Floyd and Yes) just seem to sound better than ever over time. Something magical and mystical about Zep and I can't explain why. Who cares, they're just the most amazing thing ever in music and will never be matched or surpassed!
On “ Heartbreaker” the first section of the guitar solo that Dev was describing with her hands/fingers was actually Jimmy Page using just his left hand on the strings on the neck of the guitar, i.e. he played it one handed. I saw him do this live about 6 months before this concert, in Manchester, England 🏴. They played at an almost indescribable level of volume that remains, to this day, the loudest thing I have heard in my 68 years alive. Loved both your reactions to this but especially Dev, who is clearly thoroughly enjoying the ride. Stay safe out there both.
Zep always took great pride in being a "working" band, meaning they toured constantly instead of being primarily in the studio only. When they played Heartbreaker live, sometimes Jimmy would throw in bits of Greensleeves, or the 59th Street Bridge Song, or, as you heard here Bach's Bouree in C Minor during the solo. There's a pretty good live from Earls Court ua-cam.com/video/MAZiuZORD38/v-deo.html Yes, they often used a bit of Out On The Tiles to open Black Dog, I think they did at the O2 as well. HTWWW was an outstanding compilation/concert.
Hi guys if you watch the song remains the same movie you can see Jimmy playing this live. Great movie it's like being at one of there concerts. Great reaction again. The goats
At this point ( June 1972) the band were so confident in themselves after LZ4 they actually played three songs live that they had only just recorded for “ Houses Of The Holy”, which was not even released until 9 months later. No one would ever test an audience’s patience like that these days where most bands are just an ageing jukebox.
"here's one off the new album!" haha. I don't think they had any idea it'd be another 9 months. Wasn't it partly issues with the album artwork that kept pushing back the release date?
That sounded great but their live performance was edited a lot for the album. If you want to watch a full live performance of both songs, try their '73 Madison Square Garden concert. It was very good.
It was great, but half the original film was smoked by the camera crew, so most of it was reenacted ar shepperton studios and synced to the song. If you look at bonzo in that song, it looks like he had gained 20 pounds.
73 in MSG was top shelf. I flew up from Dallas to meet up with Ray Spagleoni. We were in the Marines together, his girl called her cousin and he had 4 tickets for the Saturday night show
HTWWW was top of the mountain for them as all 4 of them were firing on all cylinders... Robert's voice & Jimmy's RICH guitar tone STOPPED after'72...after that, Robert's voice & Jimmy's guitar "RICHNESS" fell after'72 LIVE...IMO.... Thanks...
72 was their last great year as a live band. By '73 Plant's voice had slipped a little, but the rest of the band was still at their peak. After that things happened and they were hit and miss.
@@lyndoncmp5751 that's part of my point "things happened". In '75 Plant had the flu and Jimmy got his left hand slammed in a train door. Then Plant's car accident. And by '77 the drugs and booze started to really affect their performance.
John S, Yeah, very true. Don't forget Plant's throat operation in late 1973 which made touring in 1974 impossible. It seems that so much went wrong after the record breaking 1973 American tour.
@@johns7097yeah 75 was roughest for Plant. However first couple weeks of Feb 75 page came alive, then the band got it together by March. Plant had coke voice but was healing in march. Check out 3.21.75 one of their greatest live shows. First 4 songs are definitive live 75 versions. Heartbreaker is amazing, page blows his load.

One guitar, one bass, one drum kit and one voice. And they fill every corner venue with sound.
Bonzos fills sound like sticks of dynamite going off..Amazing
How can anyone not love them!!
I’m loving this track by track, album by album reaction process. So much better than most of the random “ popular” song reactions you find on YT!!
black dog live at msg 73 is EPIC!
That version of Black Dog is heavy as hell.

live zep were untouchable when they were on it!
The GOAT!

Hi Guys!!!! Very nice live stuff -- they really seem to bring a rockabilly flavor to these songs at that point in their journey.
make no mistake, jimmy could SHRED!
the bbc sessions album is pretty good too

Absolutely he did!! Right in front of me, Manchester in England 🏴 November 1971.
I didn't know that Earls Court performance was out there. Thanks!

Great reaction guys. God like level 🤘

I think Jimmy reached his peak live in 1973, personally.
What drug are you on? Jimmy is nuts in 73.
Please more from this live album. Also check out the BBC Sessions live album. It's insane like this one
At 7:10 in the Heartbreaker solo live , Page plays Bourree in E minor by J.S. Bach. ua-cam.com/video/APNI2CC0k6A/v-deo.html

Well, Zeppelin played 80% of their gigs 1968-1973.
When they were hit and miss (1975-1980)only comprised 20% of their live output.
Just saying.

BONZO is NUTS........in the best way possible !
this is Zep at their best. she needs full headphones for this
Two videos in, and the contempt she seems to feel for that guy is palpable.
Nike!!! ;-)
