By 1970, Led Zeppelin was pretty much the biggest the biggest band in the world all ready . The first album reached the top 10 on the billboard 100 albums in 1969, it was viewed as groundbreaking when it was released but the critics didn’t like it. It was the same with Zeppelin II, the critics didn’t like it but it went number 1 . In September 1970, the band dethroned the Beatles as they were voted the the biggest band in the world. There’s a video of a newsreel about it here on UA-cam . This whole concert is phenomenal and showcases just how insane the young and hungry Zeppelin were in the early years .

First two albums were 1969…..Zep I in January, and Zep II in October. And this was about four and a half months after Woodstock…..on Jimmy’s birthday…January 9th 1970. It was the following spring that Robert and Jimmy went on retreat at Bron-Y-Aur in Wales with their significant others and began their work on Zep III.

I was just "gaga" and Robert Plant was my teenage fantasy! I had a HUGE poster over my bed featuring Robert. I am the the ultimate Zeppelin fan, to the point of obsession!!! I have done "the Zep-A-Thon" more than once. Look for their Kennedy Center Honors show, it is impressive!!! Their symbols are my next and last tattoo! Love your reaction!!!

    1) Those 50s and early 60s Les Paul Standards were much lighter than the Customs of the time and all LPs today. You'd be surprised. One reason they are coveted by players, not just collectors.
    2) This is a Sonny Dixon song. It's been covered countless times, but everyone should listen to the Dixon original. Very raw and simple, but not that far off from the Zep arrangement. That little half-step rise in the turnaround is all Zep, though.
    3) One of the coolest things you can do if you're a guitarist and music fan is to listen to every live performance you can and hear the progression of Pagey's playing. You can really hear his influences early on. You can hear licks and phrasing and sensibility directly from rockabilly heroes like Scotty Moore (Elvis) and Cliff Gallup (Gene Vincent). Those little quiet, sweet major scale, vibrato-laced licks from BB King. The riff-writing prowess of guys like Jimmy Rogers (Muddy Waters) and Hubert Sumlin (Howlin' Wolf). His got that reckless abandon of Buddy Guy. You can hear the phrasing of Elmore James, with and without the slide. Not to mention his affinity for British and Irish folk voicings on the axe. It's all there and it's pretty cool to hear all those licks get absorbed and turned into something entirely new, especially when he started adding in the African, Middle Eastern, and Indian influences.

Led Zeppelin was universally despised by the critics. Especially in America. Rolling Stone notoriously ripped on them in the 70s.
It was the people who loved Zeppelin and bought their albums and sold out their concerts. In 1970 they became the #1 band - knocking off the Beatles for the first time.
It was funny because the critics could not figure out why people loved this group when they hated them. It was interesting that the critics were not that way with groups similar to them like Pink Floyd, ect
You personally feel 3 is one you like the best. I liked them all and don't think I had a favorite. I was a teen in the mid 70s and had all their albums. I listened to them all the time. I would just grab an album and put it on because whichever one it was I would love listening to it.
I wished I could have seen them in concert but, I lived in a small city about an hour and half from Chicago and getting tickets there was impossible.
It's funny because I really did not know what they looked like too much. They were never on tv and all we had was the whatever picture that was on the album.
So you sort of knew who played what and kinda what they looked like. There was no Mtv. So we loved the music for the music and that was it.
But, at every party around in 74, 75 Stairway was always playing. It was like the sound track to my high school years.

Hi Wesley, just found your channel.I'm always happy to find people who like to react to rock and blues music.
Well,i have a few suggestions for you:
1st,because i see you react a lot to Led Zeppelin so i suggest you react to their masterpiece "Since i've been loving you".Probably you've heard it already but if haven't it's a must!
2nd,from almost the same era is Rory Gallagher's "What in the world".
3rd,from our time,i suppose you know him already but if you don't,you should defenetely react to Joe Bonamassa.Imo he is the best blues quitar player right now.He started his career very young, playing on stage with BB King when he was only 12 years old!!!
And 4rth,the artist that i mostly would like you to react is blues singer and writer Beth Hart. Many people say that she is Janis Joplin of our time and if you ask me she is better than Janis! She also made 3 albums with Joe Boanamassa so if you like you can react to both of them at the same video. They are both famous for their amazing live performances and two songs they did together and are great for reaction are "I love you more than you'll ever know" live in Amsterdam (cover from Blood Sweat & Tears)and "I'd rather go blind" live in Amsterdam(cover from Etta James.
The best songs of Beth when she is alone to react are:"Caught out in the rain" live at Albert Royal Hall 2018(she wrote it),2nd is "A change is gonna come"(cover from Sam Cook song),and the 3rd one that is the best and most shocking(specifically this performance),is "Am i the one" live at Paradiso Amsterdam 2004.It' letarly jaw dropping. She wrote this when she was just 17 years old and i hope this will be the first one to react from her because it's always funny to see how people are shocked by her vocals and personality when they don't know her at all.😁
    Well,that would be all.
    Thank you very much.
P.S. My apologies for long comment and since i'm not English speaker,my bad English too.
    Take care.

I think that is No 1, which is what he called his favorite Les Paul, but he has another one just like it called No 2. I think he got No 1 from Joe Walsh. Walsh had some work done by a guy in Chicago, and he didn’t like the result, but Jimmy did.

Not original, but (like always) they made it their own. And the word you were looking for is "sublime." Strangely, I hated them when they first hit the airwaves. Plant's voice was too high for me, and Bonzo's drumming always seemed a half-beat behind (drove me crazy).
