I have been wondering the same about Warhammer: RoR. It is quite a time investment to make now as an adult to play these games, and having the game suddenly disappear without warning would be frustrating. I'm not at all versed in legality, but I imagine that If they tried to make profit in any major way, they would be shutdown instantly. i have been playing DAoC for 21 1/2 years, and this would be an AWESOME update! the ONLY problem i see is the RvR, with all of the network traffic of RvR and the added Graphics, the Unreal engine will bring many systems to their knees!
Issue I have with most private servers for DAoC is they are not Pre ToA versions. I think classic Daoc / Shrouded Isles is the best versions of the game.
Damn it, this gave me a irl blanket mezz. I need this. I'd pay a horrific amount of money for this. Anyway, my wishlist: - Cloaks with Dyes and Guild Emblems. - A more stable netcode than Elder's Scrolls Online and GuildWars 2. - Each original mono soundtrack upon entering a town.
i played that game a few month when i was 12y/o in around 2002, my mind had never been so stimulated ever so far, i was forced to stop because i didn't have access to a credit card and by parents were not willing to make one. my dreams were hard crushed when my first sub month reach the end. i remember even buying another box in a store to play another 1 month freesub and tried to make friends inside the game and convince someone to pay my sub in exchange for sending money through bank transfer but it didn't work. i remained obsessed of that game for a couple years watching it from far distance not able to play it. i eventually came back to it at around 16 or 17 y/o when found a way to pay the sub. but it had the feeling that the glory years had passed already and the servers were a bit empty, i never really had the joy to deepdive in this game in the end. a version like this with those graphics that would unit a big wave of veterans and curious people like me would be dope. graphics is not really an important point to me, with this game tho i always had big problem with the server lags and server tics that shows player positions where they're not and kind of teleport players to many different positions all the time, specially when you tried to play an assassin in pvp that heavily rely on positional attacks, that's literally what made me stops. the smoothness of wow felt pure bliss in comparison at that time. i wish to see a daoc version without these problems
Yeah during that time, debit cards weren't around or at least not offered like they are today : I remember going through trouble having a credit card as well until they started making pre-paid credit cards available or debit cards being common : I had found a random gas station you could pay your DAOC account with, which is so strange, but true, but anyway, DAoC was awesome
The UI is definitely outdated and missing some QOL stuff. However, with a custom skin a lot of that is resolved. Won't prevent you from adjusting to it.
I’ve talked to my guild and we will definitely come back and play if the remake is done. We became friends all those years ago because of DAOC and still play together to this day. This is very exciting!
@@TheNathanNAPALM I've had actual conversation with the Devs about this and they won't budge unfortunately. They want 1-50 to be 20-30 hours no more no less. I've begged for slower level with more incentive for heavy grouping to be the primary way to level. I explained that there's a reason Everquest is still so popular and if DAoCs PvE resembled that even in a small way they could hold players for so much longer. Why would WoW classic be such a success if people didn't like grouping and leveling where you feel a great accomplishment when finally reaching cap level. The Eden team is very fair and listens to feedback but when it comes to PvE they don't see eye to eye with the Everquest and WoW classic style leveling system and are catering very heavy to the pvp/rvr community that tend to be the LOUDEST in discord & forums.
@@Worldlygamer Honestly at this point, idk why they even have leveling. If it is just PvP, then everyone should start and play at an equal playing field. Just have fun. It isnt like everyone playing hasnt already level'd to cap 100 times already in the past. They need to focus on one or the other. Having this watered down PvE grind is just wasting PvP adult's time while disappointing PvErs. It's currently a Lose-Lose for both sides.
@@Worldlygamer Thank you for trying, I agree with you. I played on the Gaheris PVE server and had a lot of fun with my friends for years, no PVP at all as none of us were interested in PVP. I like a long journey to top level. If top level comes too quickly, it's a big letdown for me. One of my first mmorpg's was Rubies of Eventide, a game where max level was so hard to reach, no player ever reached it. Max level was 99 and I think level 70 something was as high as anyone ever got and the game was around for years before it shut down.
That is for the Eden Season 2 server, but I would assume for this Unreal remake, they will spend so much time making the realms, they will not want us to blast through that content that quick surely@@Worldlygamer
My first frankensteined computer after graduating in ‘04 was built for this game. Now I have a laptop that could play this remake with ease! Midgard for Life
Amazing! Feels like someone like me got ahold of a genie's lamp or something! I totally agree with keeping the leveling grind, but maybe like 75% of what it used to be or something. Along with that, I really hope the bring the level 35 and up battlegrounds too. Some of my favorite PvP memories happened in there. Somehow it always felt more inclusive. Do we all agree, please no Trials of Atlantis though? :)
This is pretty exciting. I am not a PVP person, but the Keep Battles and such were enjoyable. I do hope they focus PVE too. I recall some dungeons, my group pulled the whole entire dungeon one time... we didnt survive, but it was pretty funny and amazing...
Or when you'd be solo camping at some off the beaten path spot, just grinding away, and all of a sudden you'd see someone hauling it past you and you knew you needed to try to hide because an annihilation train was going to be following him in about 5 seconds :)

daoc was my 1st mmorpg. the best feature that I never saw later on more recent mmorpg was that when you die you lost your equipment and had to go back to your remains to try and get it back. Thrilling !
This was my first MMO. I built my first computer the year this came out and played up to Trials of Atlantis. Very fun game for its time. To see a remake would be awesome in UE5.
I spent 4 years being one of the primary raid scouts on the Guinevere server as a hibby nightshade. I have never had that much fun in a game in 20 years.
We tried DAOC a while back based on you playing. We made it about 10 minutes. Wife didn't like it even though it was very similar to EQ. If they release on a private server in UE 5.X we would totally try to get into it. Especially if there isn't a duping exploit destroying whatever economy it might have. Thanks for the video Nathan Napalm!
This game is what got me into gaming into the first place and will always be close to heart. If there is one MMO that deserves a rebirth, it is DAoC. So many memories, friends made, rivals from the other realms and the best community in any game i've ever seen so many years on. From the in-game funerals honored by all three realms in the frontiers. To the guilds that would peel off in an 8v8 when my group would get AJ'd. To the lvl 50 shaman who would give me stam and dmg buffs when passing by in DF when I was a low level. To the crafters who would grind for hours to become LGM only to charge cost because for the glory to the realm. To the Raid leaders and Relic Raid leaders who brought the community together for the realm. To the people having 8v8s and not killing the lonely solo who just wanted to watch. To the people who would /bow after kicking my butt. To the high level group in the dungeon who brought someone 6 levels under them to soak xp and go deeper with you. To the people of Igraine when dropping Laghammers in OF Emain zerg fights, sorry not sorry :) To the thousands of memories built over the years from every corner of the game. Thank you, for being the best fucking community ever and i'm proud to have been a part of it.
PVE zones are just important as RVR i got admit it should take long time level 50 and there should be more pvp content at 50 for groups of 8. what destroyed daoc was trial atlantis and trials needing battle groups of people to do them
This game captured more than just my imagination and creativity. It was the anchor in my finest and fondest memories ever experienced with my friends and family. The music gives me chills. Spent more time in mythra and DF than I can possibly tell you. My friend (who passed away RIP Gary S) took leave from the army just to level his armsman for Pete’s sake! lol I’m loving this
Broadsword should sell the license of this game to the Eden Team, and the Eden Team should get the money from the crowd. Because Broadsword is EA, and EA fucked up DAOC.
If they also manager to update the clunky systems to make it more modern beyond just the graphics, I think people will take notice. One of them being Broadsword. :O
@@Knight_Marshal Camelot Unchained was just proof that Marc Jacobs was not the reason original DAoC was a success. In fact quite the opposite, it seems the other 30 ppl were why it was successful DESPITE him. Remember, DAoC was made with a 4mil budget in 18 months, and had nothing close to Unity/Unreal as a foundation. That game was essentially made from scratch based on an engine that was barebones compared to today's engines. Marc Jacobs has no excuse for his fraud called Camelot Unchained.
@@TheNathanNAPALM Do you know the dev's skill / professional background? If not, could you find out the relevant info to share to everyone so we know just how likely this is to be a real project that will get released? But if it was just amateurs who dabble as hobbyists doing unreal tutorials, I'd know to not get too excited. And anywhere inbetween. If it were a client for DAoC, I would expect anyone to be able to complete it - even a hobbyist working for free. But an entirely new MMO? Oh geez... honestly without having confidence in the team's expertise, to me it's like another vaporware mmo. They better not ask for money.
It's the Eden team who has already launched a successful DAoC private server and about to launch another here on Dec 2nd, they have definitely done tons of content that was beyond the scope of what DAoC originally offered on those servers, beyond that, I'm not sure what else they have done@@nowayjosedaniel

I bought this when it was on it's way to the grave. I still have the box somewhere, the latest expansion. But sadly I never really played much of it. Logged in once and was out playing WoW
I recently picked up Eden, and it's easily the best freeshard yet in a long history of DAOC freeshards. I had seperately seen the UE5 engine demo videos, but I had NO IDEA they were the SAME team. This fills me with joy and gives me such hope after pissing my money away to Mark Jacobs 10 years ago. After 22 years I'm still playing DAOC, and I don't even want to play any other games.
I played DAoC for many years. Had a RR9 Merc, RR5 Cleric, RR5 Friar, RR5 Nightshade. I miss the game so much. I had no idea there was a Eden server game. Is there a Discord for it? I'd love to check it out and get back into the game after so many years.
Still on my toplist for MMO, and the first one I played. Outstanding; the classes, the community and the RvR at the gates and in darkness falls! Played a cleric in Albion; smitecleric! and was one of the first 50:s at the server (chaining goblins in group!) ; also with a glowing hammer, that was super-rare at the time. Also good guilds. So much fun. Guild was "The breathren" lead by Pac Man ^^ (Are you out there??). If it came back in classic with graphics; I would give it a go now... 20+ years later!
Everyone in the comments saying how it looks better than Pantheon and I am over here thinking to myself that it looks better than Camelot Unchained. Whether this ever becomes reality or not, it's sad to see that the game being developed by Marc Jacobs doesn't look as good or promising as this.
Mortal Online 2 has recently moved to Unreal 5 and had a lot of issues to tune it to handle large scale battles. As DAOC will have LARGE scale battles I doubt a small indy team will have the infrastructure to scale to handle Unreal 5. Good luck!
Yeah the only advantage this team has is they've already handled the infrastructure before on their DAoC servers : can they replicate the same success on UE5?

Issue I have with most private servers for DAoC is they are not Pre ToA versions. I think classic Daoc / Shrouded Isles is the best versions of the game.
Do we know when this will be released?
That is a huge endeavor, especially the abilities/combat.
Yeah, it's massive
They seem to use the existing server side of eden so it's actually not that crazy, just a client.
Damn it, this gave me a irl blanket mezz. I need this. I'd pay a horrific amount of money for this.
Anyway, my wishlist:
- Cloaks with Dyes and Guild Emblems.
Ohhhhhhh man you missed out :‘(
The UI is the main issue that always prevetented me to play DAoC. However, I always was interested in the game and would definitely try it.
UI is now scalable for resolution increases & has a few custom UI skins able to be used. This should be the last issue to not play DAoC in 2023-2024
The UI is definitely outdated and missing some QOL stuff. However, with a custom skin a lot of that is resolved. Won't prevent you from adjusting to it.
I've never played Dark age of Camelot but I'd damn sure be willing to play it if they did something like this for sure!
Yeah I think a LOT of people will come to check this out
best RvR/PvP game ever made imo
This is the best mmo ever my friend. Three faction game with tons of races and classes. There is no other game like it.
I’ve talked to my guild and we will definitely come back and play if the remake is done. We became friends all those years ago because of DAOC and still play together to this day. This is very exciting!
Great! Now do Vanguard!
PLEEASSSE!!!!!
Bring back the mordred server
I never played DAoC and I love me some pvp! Maybe I should jump on Eden and check it out!
It is hands down the best MMO PvP ever, you are going to love it!
3 Realm PVP is awsome!
This is my lifetime dream. PLEASE make it happen. I would donate to a gofundme for this.
100% agree with more of a focus on PVE.. give people chance to understand their class dynamics and how they can pump the dps / control
yeah, and it makes DAoC more dynamic and enforces Realm pride
This is awesome, I would have to say this is sorta similar to how Anarchy online had it's"engine update" but this is WAYYY bigger.
Yeah agreed
This is pretty exciting. I am not a PVP person, but the Keep Battles and such were enjoyable. I do hope they focus PVE too. I recall some dungeons, my group pulled the whole entire dungeon one time... we didnt survive, but it was pretty funny and amazing...
Or when you'd be solo camping at some off the beaten path spot, just grinding away, and all of a sudden you'd see someone hauling it past you and you knew you needed to try to hide because an annihilation train was going to be following him in about 5 seconds :)
This looks awesome. Glad to see that classic MMORPGs are coming back in multiple different ways! Will you try my favorite MMORPG of all time Echoes of Angmar? Vanilla LOTRO server.
ooooo! Maybe I will!
Yeah so very excited Seems like what we are building is long over due. I am so tickled the root games I drew upon to create mine are getting new life. All the modern mmo's except a couple just totally disappoint me. I got my 15 a month ready to go! can I pre order lol
Probably will be free!
I am with the comment that they get hired on legit and back their title. Many people don't trust developers ect, I been burned i get it so I am saying I would drop 69.99 usd right now if they made that move. Yes I said I would pay AAA price . Should promote a merch shop so they make money@@TheNathanNAPALM
this remake is Beautiful!, link to the game pls
NO WAY
I know!! Epic!
@@TheNathanNAPALM already shared vid with my parents (whom used to play) and old DAoC crew
OMG! Imagine recreating the Lancelot server Mjolnir raid where we crashed the server over and over because so many people were engaging in RvR!
Lancelot Midgard here. If that was pre-toa I was probably there 😊
@@drganknstein same I was on Mid/Lance for about 10 years. Mains were Hurog/Sturrmm/Dahmon
@@Sturrmm hmm sturtmm kinda sounds familiar. I was Grunch, cave shaman mostly.
DAoC with ESO graphics. Count me in
Seriously... too good to be true?? can they do it??
This is fucking awesome!
As long as im not running around at that speed! haha im happy :-) takes me back to a time more simpler. A lot of my friends have passed away but i play this and still keep those memories close to me. In hopes to make some more friends :)
As a former Hib/Bors player... something still gives me nightmares... FINSFINSFINSFINSFINSFINSFINSFINS
daoc was my 1st mmorpg. the best feature that I never saw later on more recent mmorpg was that when you die you lost your equipment and had to go back to your remains to try and get it back. Thrilling !
This was my first MMO. I built my first computer the year this came out and played up to Trials of Atlantis. Very fun game for its time. To see a remake would be awesome in UE5.
This would be incredible. I hope they can pull it off somehow.
The Eden team is actually really competent, they got a good chance if Broadsword doesn't shut it down
I spent 4 years being one of the primary raid scouts on the Guinevere server as a hibby nightshade. I have never had that much fun in a game in 20 years.
My friend Graham would love to have seen this. RIP Brother.
:( Rest in Peace
We tried DAOC a while back based on you playing. We made it about 10 minutes. Wife didn't like it even though it was very similar to EQ.
If they release on a private server in UE 5.X we would totally try to get into it. Especially if there isn't a duping exploit destroying whatever economy it might have. Thanks for the video Nathan Napalm!
well that's where you are wrong if you are expecting eq. daoc is a diff game with different interests
Sayaaadshirazi. The greatest solo scout
NO WAY. they are actually going through with my recommendation for a daoc clone in unreal? how did i miss this. that's crazxy bro im stoked.
To the people of Igraine when dropping Laghammers in OF Emain zerg fights, sorry not sorry :)
To the thousands of memories built over the years from every corner of the game.
Thank you, for being the best fucking community ever and i'm proud to have been a part of it.
They could easily do so, the problem isn't them, it's EA and their lawyers - and they have a litigious history.
My friend (who passed away RIP Gary S) took leave from the army just to level his armsman for Pete’s sake! lol I’m loving this
That is very encouraging to hear.
Stoked! I hope it rocks, I loved the original DAoC.
Broadsword should sell the license of this game to the Eden Team, and the Eden Team should get the money from the crowd. Because Broadsword is EA, and EA fucked up DAOC.
I was waiting for this moment for my entire life!!! Where can I donate to Eden staff? Keep it up guys
Bonedancer is still my favorite class in any game ever...and it's not even close.
Of course. What a joke that Class was. Ruined the game
any news on this?
Freaking hell dude! This would be the best thing EVER!
This has me very excited. Hoping they leave the artifacts out. Keep DAOC pure.
If they also manager to update the clunky systems to make it more modern beyond just the graphics, I think people will take notice. One of them being Broadsword. :O
yeah for sure, this is going to be interesting, and the first remake of a classic MMO if they pull it off
@@TheNathanNAPALM Not to mention Camelot Unreleased will be triggered.
I don't want to get too excited lol DAoC is my all time favorite!
Yo, DAOC remake would be badass
Muspleheim looks amazing in that snippet
My first MMo.. will remeber it always had many great moments there :)
So is this a new game entirely or a client like EQ Lantern?
Entirely new : completely remade
@@TheNathanNAPALM Do you know the dev's skill / professional background? If not, could you find out the relevant info to share to everyone so we know just how likely this is to be a real project that will get released? If it were a fully funded team of seasoned expert gamedevs with past MMO experience, I'd have a lot of confidence.
I started playing Dark Age very young. In fact my pfp is my rank 10 warden. Loved this game and still do and if they pull this off and make it feel good, id probably never wanna play anything else
Has there been any news regarding this project since the video released? It looks so good.
Thank you for this information as always Nathan. God Bless.
Thank you, and it's my pleasure!
I bought this when it was on it's way to the grave. I still have the box somewhere, the latest expansion. But sadly I never really played much of it. Logged in once and was out playing WoW
one of my all time favorite game..
Wishlist you ask, Nathan?? It would be my wish for Nathan Napalm, the champion of Hibernia, to reclaim his throne!!!!
lol
Eden's been fun. I like the fast-leveling. I have 3 different 50s and Ive been playing for like 3-4 weeks.
Awesome!
I would pay for this, best RvR/PVP ever!
HUGE news!
Yeah, sure is!
Lord I can not wait for this to happen.
Played DAoC for more than 10 years… and been supporting Camelot UnChained for years
Mortal Online 2 has recently moved to Unreal 5 and had a lot of issues to tune it to handle large scale battles. As DAOC will have LARGE scale battles I doubt a small indy team will have the infrastructure to scale to handle Unreal 5. Good luck!
Yeah the only advantage this team has is they've already handled the infrastructure before on their DAoC servers : can they replicate the same success on UE5?
It's possible that they are doing the method that uses the original game and only sort of layer unreal ontop for the rendering.
Yeah perhaps, I wonder if that is possible?
@@TheNathanNAPALM Absolutely is. They did something like this with Outcast Second Contact.
